Soup. Not sure what kind but it must have come with my meal.
    Damon D.

Like usual, I never know what I am doing. I have seen this place from the road a couple of times and decided to stop in. Apparently this is a seafood/Mexican restaurant. Very nice inside and well lit up. People were eating here and there was about 8 other people. Music was authentic and I didn't understand a word. But, so was the menu. I only understood burrito, taco, etc. most of the menu was in Spanish. I just told the waitress to bring me something good and it was her choice. They had a setup for a live band. Apparently they don't rock out on Tuesdays so I may have to stop by on a Friday evening. My soup was a white rice based soup. It was very good, but super HOT!! I had to wait for it to cool down. My waitress was nice and tolerated me well. What a saint. Chips and Salsa were good, but very standard. It's like everyone buys the chips at the same store. Salsa was not burn your mouth hot, I like that. Kabobs. Omg nom nom. The shrimp was so soft and juicy. They had bacon, grilled onions, peppers. They were so good. Beans and rice mixed together was so delicious. They obviously know how to make perfect beans. Usually beans are not rememberable, so I was pleasantly surprised. Soup is still too hot. I started running out of steam on the tortillas shells they gave me. I made it through about 3 and went back to the soup. Soup had cooled down and had good flavor. It was not as exciting, just soup. The Tortillas had good flavor but seemed a little dry. They may have been corn tortillas and were supposed to be that way. I like those super soft kind that are almost steaming when you get them. This place was super fun and the food was great overall. I would not have imagined a Mexican Seafood place, but wow was the combination good. If you are in the Midvale area this place is worth a try!

Very good food. Friendly service. Family atmosphere. Decent prices. Not a long wait time. Definitely recommend the shrimp and fish tacos. Good location. Clean. Each booth has dividers which is really nice. Good lighting. Bathrooms well kept. Our server, Luz, was very attentive, friendly, and always smiling. Recommend everyone to give it a try.

I've been wanting to try this place since I moved here 8 months ago and I'm so glad I was finally about to try it. We were warmly greeted by the owner who allowed us to self seat at a booth. They have just about every hot sauce on their tables, it takes up quite a bit of room but convenient. There is a lot to choose from their menus and usually pictures on menus are a red flag for me but the dishes we had were exactly what was pictured. We were full about half way through our entrees, but the food was so delicious that we powered through. Give this place a try and you'll see why

The Cajun fries were good quality fries (on the more potato rather than crispy side) but could've used more Cajun. Next time I'd ask for a side of Cajun seasoning or see if they can just put more on. The refresher was light in flavor but actually really good and legitimately refreshing! There might have even been tiny pieces of peach on the bottom, which I liked! For the boil I got a half pound of shrimp (head on) and subbed the potato for a corn and added a second corn. I got the special sauce (basically a combo of all the sauces) mild, but didn't think it tasted spicy at all. To be honest I think the sauce was just okay, a little less flavorful than expected. Maybe next time I would try medium spice level to see if it makes a difference. My bf got a half pound of shrimp (head off), half pound of crawdads, and wanted the blue crab but because it was sold out, he switched to a half pound of snow crab legs, garlic butter (seasoned), mild. He thought the sauce was good but wished it would've soaked into the meat more. Def recommend frequent dipping! Crawdads weren't bad, it was our first time eating them but offered very little meat for the work required. He was pretty disappointed with the crab legs--despite being double the price of the blue crab, almost every leg he cracked open was half hollow and had barely any meat in it. He said it was the first time in his life he's had crab legs like that! Service however was 10/10. She was super attentive, kind, and welcoming. Some of the best service I've ever had! Ambiance is casual, had cute theming similar to most seafood boil spots. Appreciated the bibs, gloves, and wipes! Overall I liked it but would tweak my order. Unfortunately, my bf said he would never go back again, but this was only his second time ever going to a seafood boil restaurant, and he's thinking it just might not be for him lol.

Tucked…read moreaway in Cottonwood Heights, it also happened to be a literal stroll across the street from where we were staying, which made it an easy yes for dinner. This isn't white-tablecloth, hushed-voice "fine dining," but the kitchen is absolutely cooking at that level. Every dish that hit the table delivered: the som tum, drunken noodles, and Thai fried rice were all standouts, with zero misses across the board. The mixed greens and golden tofu plates were legit highlights too, not just obligatory veggie options. One thing to know before you go: everything defaults to no spice unless you speak up. If you're used to true Asian spice levels, level 3 is probably your sweet spot. Level 2 was still a bit too tame for us, especially for something like the som tum that really sings with heat. Bottom line: excellent quality, generous value, and food that keeps you thinking about your next visit before you've even paid the check. This is absolutely a spot I'd come back to.

Here is where the identity crisis starts. You walk into a nice space with red velvet decor and Italian landscapes. I had to do a double-take to make sure we were in the proper establishment. The menu has photos of their dishes, great for a visual eater like myself. We started with the soft shell crabs in a chili sauce. The crabs were lightly battered, crisp and a delicious taste. We saved the sauce to pour over our rice, an added bonus. The pad Thai was to sweet, and over-run with red onions. This is not a combo I'm familiar with, not my favorite. The pork spiced ribs with honey, tomatoes, Thai spices and sesame oil was unique and good. They fell off the bone tender. What is stuck in my craw is the message sent by the physical space. Beautiful red velvet chairs, Italian landscapes and wine bottles lining the walls does not lend to fine Thai dining in my mind. A least paint over the walls and add SOME Thai touches. Let your wait staff know living on cell phone and ignoring patrons is never a winning message. The male bathroom has a toilet covered with painted tape and several missing pieces of porcelain. Are you a serious business or a pop-up finishing off someone else's lease? Attention to details are important and help set the table way before the food arrives. I wish Ve La Thai Fine Dining the best, but question their commitment after being here for over a year, perhaps it is all intentional.
