Came here for a friend's birthday and we all enjoyed the food, drinks, ambiance, and service. There's ample parking on the side and back. The space is elegant with dim lighting and chic decor. The staff were friendly and attentive. We kicked things off with espresso martinis--one of my fav cocktails (never enough coffee). For food, we shared fresh oysters, tuna tartare with wonton crisps, caviar onion dip & pommes frites, blue crab cakes, and Swedish meatballs. All the dishes were brought out quickly. Everything was solid. I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu.

Kimi's place has been such a special place to me because two of my cousins have had their receptions here and it's where I had my 30th birthday! That aside, Kimi personally is such a kind sweet soul and you can feel that reflected in the service. Everyone is so kind and welcoming. Very patient when explaining new menu items and constantly walking around to fill our cups and clear the table. They're just so attentive! Food is AMAZING! We ordered the dozen oysters, four of each that they had available (8 were from BC and 4 from WA). The BC ones were our favorite, fresh with hints of lime! Not pictured are the fries with caviar (the best thing we ordered actually and a must try)! Note that we did not order any mains and only ordered a bunch of apps with our cocktails but everything was amazing! Her new place is a very intimate and breathtaking. A great place for a date or special occasion!

3.5 star rounded down to 3. Wanted to try a new place for a birthday celebration and based on their reviews, decided to come here. Overall, we were very underwhelmed by our experience -- especially for the price. The place is very nicely decorated, the seating is comfortable, and the service was great. They have a nice cocktail options, a good beer list, and a large wine selection. Along with a handful of mocktail options. The food is where we were let down. We ordered four tapas to share -- fresh oysters, egg rolls, golden beets, mushroom soup. and the crab cakes. Oysters were extremely expense for what you get -- and we didn't enjoy the taste of any of them (we got all three types they offered). The crab cakes were good, as well as the golden beets and soup, and the egg rolls were the table favorite. Our entrees were all just good -- not great, no one was "wow-ed" by their food. It was good, but again for the price, I feel like it should have been much better. The steak was a nice cut, but flavor was average. The salmon was very good, but the potatoes it came with were bland. The pasta was again just average. This place just wasn't a hit for us.

We came here for our anniversary dinner, and it was such a wonderful experience from start to finish. The ambiance and vibe of the restaurant were perfect--romantic, welcoming, and beautifully set up. To make the evening even more special, the staff went the extra mile by decorating our table with "Happy Anniversary" balloons. That thoughtful touch truly made us feel celebrated. The food was absolutely delicious, and each dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. On top of that, the service was outstanding--every staff member we interacted with was attentive, kind, and genuinely made us feel taken care of. This was one of those dining experiences we'll remember for a long time. Highly recommend for a special occasion or just a night out when you want everything to feel extra special!

Got a recommendation from a local. We had an amazing waitress. The food was good! We got the dip from the appetizer menu and the beet salad- both were delicious. We split the filet mignon which was good. All in all a pretty good meal.

Amazing! Venue was great...ambiance, decor! Food was unbelievable. I had the salmon. For dessert I had the chocolate hazelnut pot. Great place to celebrate a special occasion.

Elevated experience. I visited Kimi's Chop & Oyster House with family to celebrate a graduation. Our server was attentive, friendly, and was able to answer every menu question we had. They made our dinner special. Our table ordered several appetizers and each of them were fantastic. I ordered the Yellow Fin Tuna entree and it was to die for! Overall, it was a great experience. I would definitely recommend trying it out!

The restaurant itself is very elegant and beautiful. The vibes are very cozy, comfortable and relaxing. The service was efficient and staff were very friendly. The food is amazing. I got the breaded buttermilk chicken, the oysters which they said to come fresh from Washington, and lastly the cheesecake was the best so ever had. I imagine everything in their kitchen is handmade with so much love. I have yet to enjoy the food here so much. Another note with the ambiance is there was alot of elderly people, which showed to me to be a good thing. They are very wise! Would recommend anyone who enjoys good food and company to come here.

The actual ambiance of the place was great! Cute bar, cozy lighting, and interesting decor. The service was also pretty good, but for the price, the food didn't blow me out of the water. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing (the fried chicken), but I would expect all things on a menu to be of a high standard in a relatively nicer place

This isn't white-tablecloth, hushed-voice "fine dining," but the kitchen is absolutely cooking at that level. Every dish that hit the table delivered: the som tum, drunken noodles, and Thai fried rice were all standouts, with zero misses across the board. The mixed greens and golden tofu plates were legit highlights too, not just obligatory veggie options. One thing to know before you go: everything defaults to no spice unless you speak up. If you're used to true Asian spice levels, level 3 is probably your sweet spot. Level 2 was still a bit too tame for us, especially for something like the som tum that really sings with heat. Bottom line: excellent quality, generous value, and food that keeps you thinking about your next visit before you've even paid the check. This is absolutely a spot I'd come back to.

Here is where the identity crisis starts. You walk into a nice space with red velvet decor and Italian landscapes. I had to do a double-take to make sure we were in the proper establishment. The menu has photos of their dishes, great for a visual eater like myself. We started with the soft shell crabs in a chili sauce. The crabs were lightly battered, crisp and a delicious taste. We saved the sauce to pour over our rice, an added bonus. The pad Thai was to sweet, and over-run with red onions. This is not a combo I'm familiar with, not my favorite. The pork spiced ribs with honey, tomatoes, Thai spices and sesame oil was unique and good. They fell off the bone tender. What is stuck in my craw is the message sent by the physical space. Beautiful red velvet chairs, Italian landscapes and wine bottles lining the walls does not lend to fine Thai dining in my mind. A least paint over the walls and add SOME Thai touches. Let your wait staff know living on cell phone and ignoring patrons is never a winning message. The male bathroom has a toilet covered with painted tape and several missing pieces of porcelain. Are you a serious business or a pop-up finishing off someone else's lease? Attention to details are important and help set the table way before the food arrives. I wish Ve La Thai Fine Dining the best, but question their commitment after being here for over a year, perhaps it is all intentional.

They are a from-scratch kitchen and offer a seasonally rotating tasting menu with the option to add curated beverage pairings (alcoholic/non-alcoholic). Everything is intentional here. From the moment you walk in, you're welcomed by a modern yet cozy interior with an ambiance that's both relaxed and exciting. We were promptly greeted by the host and introduced to our main server, Ada, who was warm, attentive, and accompanied by an equally wonderful staff throughout the evening. One of the things that impressed me most was how knowledgeable everyone was. Each staff member could explain where every ingredient was sourced, how each component was prepared, and the story behind every course. While visiting Salt Lake City from out of town, we treated ourselves to a fancy dinner at Monte, a…read morerestaurant that is rumored to be angling for a Michelin star. From the description on their website about a "chef-driven" experience, I thought it would be a chef's table, but in actuality it was a pre fixe menu, as we never talked to chef Martin Babio, although our server told us about each course. Online reviews are mixed, so we were a little concerned to be the only customers on a Thursday if it really were a simultaneous seating event (another couple came in 45 minutes later). TL;DR: It was worth the money. Drinks: rose lemonade (from a bottle, but the best lemonade hubby says he's ever had), a glass of brut to celebrate the publication of my book next week, and the house still (tap) water. The "snack" (hors oeuvre) was two bites. One was the best thing hubby has ever eaten that was made out of beets (which he doesn't usually like). The other was a light green puree with trout roe that made me exclaim out loud. Then we got three kinds of bread (breadsticks, sourdough, brioche) but didn't want to fill up on it. What we didn't eat was packaged it up for breakfast and lunch the next day. The brioche was realllly good, especially with the house-made butter (even the next day--the sourdough didn't keep well). I didn't finish the take on French onion soup, because I didn't think the onions were caramelized enough; however, hubby prefers his onions less cooked and liked it. The quail ravioli came in a sauce that didn't have enough salt, but it was balanced if eaten with the pasta. Next, the "black course" was a two-bite squid ink beignet with rabbit in the center. The protein was a really excellent 3 ounces of beef with two sauces. Then came a palate cleanser that was the best tasting "green drink" we've ever had (mint, lime, cucumber, and some other things). Between that and the dessert--the silkiest chocolate tart imaginable--the dinner was worth it. The last chef's table we did (for Valentine's Day) had portions that were too large. These were just right (although I did have to take my bonus madeleine home, since I was full by that point). Staff are attentive but let you enjoy the meal. The setting is industrial with a side of woodsman-naturalist. The music was loud but fun. My only real critique is that the restaurant is located inside Beehive Distillery, so when we arrived via Google Maps, we thought we were at the wrong building, and I had to double-check the address. Otherwise, 5 stars, would do again for a fancy occasion.

They ask me: "how bad are your allergies?" I explain I can't eat mushrooms- but I do have an epi pen. I have the first drink and appetizer. They bring out the bread (which is a course on their menu). It's been an hour. They pour my second glass, but as my dish for it hasn't arrived, I don't partake of it. The waiter comes back (its now after 9 pm) and tells me they can't accommodate me due to my allergies. Can I please pay $70 for the wine tasting and leave? The wine tasting you didn't serve me? Yes, its Utah state law. I look up the law. It's not. They charge me for the two glasses they have poured - the second which I never took a sip from. They somehow changed their version of what the law is? Very disappointed. Its a good thing my hotel was still serving food. I skipped lunch to come to this place. I was really looking forward to it based on the reviews.
