This is the first mariscos spot I've been to, and it was delicious! When we sat down, we were immediately served complimentary tostada shells with what I think was a seafood pico de gallo and salsa. It also came with several cracker packs which was perfect for the seafood soup we ordered later. Such a generous portion and so refreshing and yummy! We ordered the camarones (shrimp) plate, which included juicy shrimp in an incredibly rich and flavorful sauce, fresh garlic bread, lightly fried rice with some corn in it, and lettuce salad. It was an absolute flavor bomb and I would definitely recommend! It is a large plate so definitely shareable for 2. We also ordered the mendigo especial which is a seafood broth with some shrimp and seafood pieces. It came in a glass chalise with shrimp on the sides, and it was hot, steaming, and incredibly flavorful! Because it was so rich in flavor (yet refreshing), the medium was a perfect size for sharing. Altogether this was plenty of food for 2 of us and we ended up taking some of the shrimp plate leftovers home. Service was excellent! They were friendly and checked in a good amount. The restaurant is spacious with indoor and outdoor seating. The ambience is cute and welcoming, and they had lots of screens for World Cup viewing. Outside they have free parking for patrons. my gal Powell called me up to go to dinner and I initially decline, but I'm glad I changed my mind. The portions were crazy from the margarita to the food. I appreciate it all of the size that came with my meal the rice, the garlic bread, the fries and the salad were also tasty but with the portion being I definitely had to bring some home. our server was super attended and definitely made sure the drinks stayed full. A serendipitous Google Maps discovery after picking up my 2026 planner nearby set the stage for a true meet-cute with this amazing restaurant. I'm usually a little skeptical about ordering fish at Midwestern spots, but this place is officially my exception. Everything was incredibly fresh and so delicious. I dined in and was welcomed with complimentary tostadas and a ceviche-style dip. Service was fast, and my server was incredibly kind and helpful, especially as a first-time patron. I ordered the guacamole and shrimp fajitas, and wow! The portion sizes are unreal. The entrée came with fries, rice, a mini salad, and garlic bread. It was so much food that I'll easily have dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow. A friend took me here while I was visiting Chicago, and honestly, for being on the East Coast, the Mexican food wasn't half bad. I'm spoiled by LA West Coast Mexican food -- that stuff is elite -- so my bar is pretty high. This place was pretty solid though. The micheladas were definitely the star. I'd recommend those 10/10. The seafood and the rest of the Mexican dishes were okay, not mind-blowing, but still enjoyable. The staff was super nice, and the restaurant has a cool little vibe to it. Stopped by for lunch after shopping at Dusty Groove and am so thankful we did! This was an amazing lunch. We had ceviche mixto (1/2 fish, 1/2 shrimp) and it was amazing! I love ceviche and have eaten it in Peru many times. This was among the best ceviche I've ever had! We split the chicharron de camaron charlatan and enjoyed it also. Amazing food. excellent quality, taste, preparation. as you would epxpect from a "fancy" restaurant. The staff is amazing. the dish we ordered was taking a longer time to prepare than we expected but they kept our leftovers until we could return from our play. Looks like a place many workers near by come for lunch. I went during lunch hours and people poured in. It's a decent space for groups. The young lady was very nice and was able to answer any questions. Instead of salsa and chips they serve ceviche. The ceviche just neededa bit of salt but it was good. We also ordered guacamole, but it didn't taste fresh to us. We asked for jalapeños to be added they weren't. My friend had the shrimp fajitas. She said they were good. I didn't taste them. I had the fried red snapper with spicy garlic sauce on the side. The red snapper was fresh but by itself needed seasoning with the spicy garlic sauce it was perfect. By far the most rude service I have ever received in a restaurant in the city of Chicago. I had to get up and confirm my table had a waiter since every other table that came in after us already had chips and salsa and waters. It was just two of us. After getting chips and salsa after asking, I had to once again ask for waters because no one came and gave us any. Then the waitress, woman with glasses, came over and took the order rudely, which is whatever. But the cherry on top is when she came with the drinks we ordered, she basically tossed the michelada on the table as if she was annoyed that we asked for service at a restaurant. Mind you, we got our drinks we ordered when the tables that came in after were already eating their food! We got up and left and offered to pay for the chips we ate and the drinks that we didn't even touch. Absolutely awful service. Go down the street to alegrias for a pleasant dining experience. We came here at 7:30 without a reservation on a Saturday night. It was crowded, and it only took 5 minutes to get sat but after us it took more than 20. This place is fish forward, and it was pretty good. We started with Guac, and shrimp empanadas. They give you free tostada, chips, and salsa (very spicy and good). We then got oysters, they had a lot of shells in them, shucked that way it appears. They were also smaller more round oysters than long. I got the fish fillet with ranchero, they earned me that it was spicy but it was not spicy. It comes with fries and rice. My partner got a platter with shrimp, octopus, squid inside a filet. With fries, and rice. I also got a frozen margarita, and my partner an iced one. They were strong. Because it was so busy the service was slow, but the staff were super nice. The platters are HUGE. Came on Father's Day so it was pretty busy - there was a 30 minute wait, but I got a text that my table was ready in about 15 min! When you sit they bring you a small cup of complimentary fish ceviche with crackers. It was actually a lot in that cup and very tasty. We ordered margaritas which were huge for the price. We started off with shrimp ceviche and the portion was crazy big. It was very flavorful. My friend ordered a main dish and that was also a crazy huge portion. Granted this is only the third Molcajete I've ever had, but I think it was the best. Everything in the pot was a winner. We had a really great server and the food rolled out quickly and was very hot! This was one of the better places that I have visited where I didn't feel like the food was overcooked.
