[TL;DR: Served inedible food I did not eat, charged in full, zero attempt to make it right.] I very rarely leave negative reviews and don't nitpick or blast places over small issues - and you can check my other reviews to verify that. I had heard great things about this place, which makes it even more disappointing. The only positive was the quaint country ambiance, including a nice old mural on the wall. Service was a bit slow, but it was a busy Sunday morning, so that's understandable and not part of my rating. The food, however, was inedible. I should note here that I came in quite hungry and with a specific hankering for a greasy chicken fried steak and eggs, so I was in a very easy to please state. I ordered the eggs "over medium," and the eggs came out with raw, runny whites and were also cold. The toast didn't arrive until 5-10 minutes later, so everything just sat there getting colder. The "steak" was mostly fat and gristle. The first couple of bites I ate were gristly but doable with help from the gravy - but the third bite was a giant glob of gristly fat that I couldn't even chew - i spit it out and that's all I ate. The hash browns tasted like frozen unseasoned potatoes with only a patch of sear on the outside while the bulk of it was mushy and pasty and gross. Of the whole meal I basically only ate my toast plus a bite or two of each thing on my plate. I left feeling sick to my stomach. After dropping off the food (and later the delayed toast), our server never checked back. No refills, no follow-up. When she finally returned, she asked to clear my very full, barely touched plate without any acknowledgment. I had to volunteer that the food was inedible. The response was dismissive and rushed, with no effort to understand the issue or make it right. An offhand "sorry about that" was offered while walking away, followed shortly by the $60 bill. The complete lack of accountability and concern was frankly abhorrent. This was one of the worst dining experiences I've had, and I won't be back. I would have left hungry except that I was queasy from the gristle and paste. read more

We order the beef Philly with French fries, bourbon French toast and the chicken fried steak. On the Philly the meat was so dry and the fries all burn exactly the same either way with the French toasts and that makes them so dry. But the chicken fried stake was the worst(pic attached) and the country fries were made on the deep fryerso oily. About the service, was horrible, we wait for the food more then 30 min and the waiter was so distracted. We ask for water like 3 times. The AC wasn't working because was so humid and hot. New owner alert! This place needed an upgrade and boy did it get one! It looks so much cleaner in there and the new staff is amazing! A friend asked if I wanted to have breakfast when I was in town and at first I refused to go there but he assured me it wasn't the same kountry kitchen as before. I had the ABC omelet and fresh fruit, the omelet had lots of cheese and bacon, the eggs were fluffy and there was plenty of avocado. The fruit was fresh and there were lots of berries at the bottom of the cup. We also went back a couple of days and had the steak and eggs, the steak was cooked perfect and the country potato's were cooked in beef talo and were perfect. You have to try the fresh squeezed orange juice they squeeze it with a machine right in front of you. Can't wait to go back. read more

My family has been coming here for years! The wait for food is long, normally it's not a problem. But let me tell you, it is not as it once was. The food used to give you that homemade feeling. Now it like going to Dennys. Lacking flavor and freshness, frozen food vibes. Bacon had an off taste, and was not finished. My family would never leave good bacon behind. Watery eggs, even scrambled. After along hike to potato chip rock my siblings and I came here for some breakfast. Upon entering and waiting to be seated we were greeted with rolling eyes and nasty stares from the staff. That should've been out first queue to leave. We sat down, ordered out meal and observed maybe the owner/manager going up to every table and asking if they needed anything. Water, coffee refills, napkins. Not once did her come to our table to ask US if anything was needed. Not once was our coffee and water refilled or were asked if we needed anything else. We were treated horribly. I guess the only Hispanics allowed in this establishment are the ones working in the kitchen. So if you are a POC this is not the spot for you! I had breakfast at Kountry Kitchen 826 Main St, Ramona, CA 92065 (b/t 9th St & 8th St). This is a very nice restaurant with tables and booths. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It has very nice country decor and is kept very clean, including the restrooms. I ordered the sausage (huge size slices), onion, and cheese omelette (nice and fluffy) special, with oatmeal and a biscuit & gravy. Talk about home made. They even had raisins in the oatmeal. The gravy was really good and coffee was excellent as was the service. The restaurant had quite a few customers and everything I saw on their tables that they ordered looked great. I would like to address some of their few poor reviews-almost all related to service or bad food. They seem to be legitimate however on this review, the server was polite, attentive and very kind. She could not have done a better job. The portions are huge, price is right and yes, they do have a senior menu. The patio dining is great! Country Kitchen in Ramona has truly stepped up since the new owner took over. The food is amazing, and you can immediately taste the difference in quality and care. The country fried steak is made with real meat, not frozen or overly processed like you'll find at other diners in the area, and it shows. Everything tastes fresh, hearty, and homemade. Even better, they fry in beef tallow, which gives the food incredible flavor and sets them apart from most local spots. They also offer fresh-squeezed orange juice, which is such a nice touch and something you don't often find around here. From the moment i walk in it felt like a welcoming vibe. The waitress was super sweet and genuine. Gave me the right amount of time to decide on what i wanted to order with out being pushy . She suggested the coutry fried potatoes over the hashbrown for my morning breakfast and definitely was the best choice . I came in around noon. The place was not full. They sat us down quickly. I waited about 20-25 minutes just to order my food. I waited another hour and I never got a check in or an update. I would look over at the waitress and she would ignore me. After about an hour and a half, I had asked the waitress that I want the check for the drinks. I'm not from this area and looking at the town, my expectations were not the highest. HOWEVER!!! This beat my expectations by so much and I was glad that I was able to try this amazing tasteful restaurant. I ordered the chicken fried steak with eggs and hashbrowns, with a side of country biscuits and gravy. For the amount of food that you get with the order and how great that it tasted, I was suprised that the line wasn't out the door or flooded with people or this place had higher and lots more reviews. The service was amazing too, they were very friendly and attentive to their customers. The inside the restaurant was definitely giving country vibes. First visit and have to admit right upfront the breakfast was hot, delicious and plentiful! The rest of the visit was sad, it was maybe half full on a Saturday morning and we waited (you will hear this a lot!) for a table as several of the wait staff walked past us before seating us. We were handed 1 menu to share as we were told they were running short. Please explain how you can run short on menus? Drink orders were taken and served, the wife's iced tea was served in tall plastic cup with very little to no ice. Please explain to me why this happens, were we short on ice also? We placed our order, 2 eggs and home potatoes for the wife and Eggs Benedict with home potatoes for me. We waited 23 minutes for food to be served and in that time a couple that came in after us ordered and were served 5 minutes before we got our order. As mentioned before food was excellent for both and at this time the wife requested additional ice (which never came!) the waitress never came back by to check on us. They were not understaffed, just under qualified! Here we go again, please explain why the wait staff while clearing your dishes is asked for the check that I can see plainly in her apron and not present it to you then? We waited for at least 7 minutes for the waitress to bring the check. Our experience at Kountry Kitchen was delightful and everything was great from the ambiance, service and food. In town visiting family and we took my 97-year old mom to Kountry Kitchen for lunch. There were five of us and everyone loved their food. I had the Ortega Dip with a side of fresh fruit. That sandwich was so delicious and the au jus was very flavorful and not watery/tasteless at all. The fruit bowl was pretty big for a side and full of delicious fresh fruit. I don't remember what everyone ordered but my husband had a build your own omelet that he enjoyed and my mom had a regular french dip with onion rings. Updating for dinner service experience. I can see why KK is packed for breakfast and a ghost town at dinner time. They clearly excel at breakfast. I ordered the "Chicken Carbonara". The menu describes it as "al dente spaghetti in creamy parmesan sauce with chicken, bacon, spinach and tomatoes." Unfortunately it was neither spaghetti nor al dente. It was also served nearly room temperature. I will say the overall flavors and presentation were decent and I could tell they tried despite the overcooked pasta. Lots of good freshly grilled chicken. Your mileage may vary but for me the "Pasta Classics" section of their menu will be a hard pass in the future. read more

Been here no less than 5 times and enjoyed it every time except this morning. Ordered the chicken fried steak and tasted like someone dumped too much black pepper in the white gravy. This is a cozy and casual diner with great food and even greater service! Our group of 8 rolled in on a Sat. afternoon after a day of paintball and we were seated right away. Folks in our group were from San Diego, Manhattan NY, LA, Dallas... and it would be fair to say everyone had extensive experience with good food. So its a big deal when every dish ordered was rated thumbs up delicious! And to think we almost missed this place! Originally, we were going to go to Marinade On Main across the street...the fancy/pretentious farm to table place. The line was out the door and when we asked if there was a wait list we were told there is no list and no estimated time...when a table becomes available someone will come out and call the next in line. Well screw that! We're going across the street to Kountry Kitchen and so glad we did! As I said, our group was seated right away at Kountry Kitchen and our waitress Shannon was so sweet and attentive! She took care of our group and every need was handled quickly. Shannon checked in on us regularly and was pleasant the entire time. I had the fish and chips and asked if they had any cocktail sauce. I was told they did not have any, but the cook will make it fresh for me since they had the ingredients on hand. We were impressed by that level of service and further impressed when the cocktail sauce turned out awesome! All the dishes came out quickly and everything tasted great...we've got some picky critics in our group and everyone left happy! This was a great find. Stopped here for breakfast on our way back home from camping on New Years Day. I couldn't decide between the biscuits and gravy and eggs Benedict. I asked the server which one she thought was better and she said it was a hard choice as they are both really good but that they are known for the biscuits and gravy. So I ordered a small and OMG it was very good. The biscuits were super light and fluffy and melt in your. My husband had the Cowpoke. The pancakes were humongous and were absolutely delicious, nice thick crispy bacon and one of the best sausages I've ever tasted. Came here on the way back from Julian. We were a party of 13 and luckily the place was not busy so they were able to accommodate our large group. There is plenty of street parking and there is also parking behind their building. The staff that aided us was very sweet and accommodating for our big group. Last attempt at letting this restaurant redeem themselves. As locals we understand that sometimes our businesses will have bad days, that's where forgiveness is important. However, yesterdays attempt to give KK another try to redeem themselves was an utter complete fail from walking in, the food, the attitude filled servers, and the waiting to be seated. To the hostess/server giving us attitude and not bringing our menus to the table after we requested them. We had been sitting there while people who came in after us were served. We were overlooked several times during our visit. Whether intentional or not, it's absolutely egregious to negatively interface with customers that are paying to be there! To start, we ordered 2 coffees with water and 1 tea for 3 people. I was told that it would take 10 minutes to make coffee because they ran out. As I had a clear view of the restaurant, I watched 5 females scramble around and do a whole lot of nothing while no one was making new coffee. When the coffee was made the two girls who knew we were waiting on coffee took the fresh carafes and filled other cups of customers who were done eating, and we're waiting on our first cup. Literally, thirty minutes later a server was walking by with a coffee cup and carafe, to which I stopped and asked for the cup of coffee and told her we're still waiting on one more. In 30 minutes the only thing we got was coffee, tea and water. We hadn't even ordered our food yet because the server hadn't been by our table! We thought the first girl who seated us was our server and it actually was someone completely different. Our server finally made it to our table to take our order. It was a pretty simple order with no dish being modified. Our order was in and now we wait with no follow up with anyone to fill our drinks. I he to lean over to the empty booth behind to grab Splenda because nobody came to check on us! Food: The food was absolutely not palatable!! After another 30 minutes of waiting (1 hour) all of our food came out cold, undercooked, or overcooked. I like my bacon crispy so that was good other than the fact it was ice cold. I ordered sourdough toast on the side for $3.99 which I never received but was charged for and I don't realize that because my husband paid for the bill. The hash browns were stale, cold and over cooked. My husbands biscuits and gravy were disgustingly horrid to even taste because the gravy was cold, with absolutely no flavor. My nephews warm croissant sandwich was burnt, with a slab of cheese that wasn't melted. Overall, the meals and staff interaction were not worth my time or money. We've given KK several chances and they just can't help but repeat themselves. They used to be good and in the last 4 years they have seriously gone straight to the dumpster. Finally, it's unfortunate reviews like this have to be written especially when you give fourth and fifth chances to redeem yourself. Honestly, there's a lack of supervision and direction. There's seems to be no one in charge who knows how to run a staff and they was made in abundantly clear as I watched the servers or hostesses stand around. The amount of servers in that place was more than enough to accommodate customers. It was laziness and lack of work ethic on everyone's part. And the owner, isn't doing the best job at hiring quality people! I don't pay to be treated less than when I'm extremely nice even in these types of situation. Furthermore, we will never go back there and eat unless we see a sign that says "under new management/ownership". How sad this is the quality of restaurants we have in R-Town. I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone either, because I don't want my friend and family to waste their time and money! read more

I usually don't go to places where they replace C's with K's and Fox News is the only thing on, but I came here with my coworkers. Everything was pretty good though We got a variety of breakfast foods. The baby sized burritos were great, my country fried steak was decent, the waffles were very solid. Portions were massive.
