Right in the heart of Historic Ramona sits Ramona Cafe. It is the classic diner with all the fixings. Retro decor, friendly staff, and good food. Now that we live in Ramona, we have been venturing out and trying the different eating establishments. This place is like Cheers, where everyone knows your name. It has a great vibe and decent prices. The plates are HUGE and definitely shareable. I have been here a few times now, and I always really like what I order, with one exception: I am not a fan of their biscuits. I have tried on a few occasions and they do not do it for me. Today's was really not palatable. You can tell it was overworked and not cooked properly. You could still taste raw flour. It stuck to the plate it was on; that's how poorly cooked it was. On the happy side, we had great breakfasts. I ordered something different today, their Au Gratin omelette. It tasted great, but did not taste anything like Au Gratin potatoes. I would order it again. We also had chicken-fried steak with gravy and a chorizo scramble. Both were tasty and super filling. I understand their cinnamon rolls are out of this world. Since I rarely eat sweet things, I have yet to take a bite. Hoping next time I go out with friends, someone orders one. There is outdoor seating, and the establishment is dog-friendly. So bring Fido along and enjoy a meal. *Please excuse the photo. I forgot to take one before I started eating my omelette. You can see how dry the biscuit was in the next photo.

Came here the other day and had such a great experience! We had a party of six and the staff was super accommodating! Inside the restaurant is super welcoming and home-style atmosphere. The menu is huge in the best way, with so many options to choose from! Our waitress was incredibly sweet, checked on us just the right amount, and our food came out perfectly. I got the French toast and it was so good! Fluffy, buttery, and the portions were super generous! Also, if you're an iced coffee person, I would definitely recommend! It was massive, tasted great, and they even offered cups so we could take the rest to go! Overall, this place was amazing for breakfast and I'd absolutely recommend it. Can't wait to come back and try the lunch menu next time!

We called ahead and they reserved a table for our party for brunch. They have a nice menu for breakfast items. I got the farmhouse skillet. They were able to alter it to my liking. I got the gravy on the side, which was really good. I think, for me, with it on it it could have been too much. But with me having it on the side, I was able to add it to my liking. Without it, it tasted rather bland. But either the gravy, it was quite delicious. The staff there were all friendly and helpful. They definitely showed patience with the group I was with haha

I was in Ramona, CA (San Diego) visiting my sick brother. I wanted to try a local breakfast place so he recommended the Ramona Cafe at 628 Main St, Ramona, CA 92065. He told me it was his favorite restaurant. So I went there two days and what an experience. The menu covered breakfast, lunch and dinner. Just about anything you wanted, it was there. The first day I had to try the 1/2 Lb cinnamon roll, as featured on a TV show. It was incredible, fresh made, lots of cinnamon and frosting. I only ate about 1/4 of it due to its size. I enjoyed a senior ham and cheese omelette with potatoes and a biscuit. The star of the meal was the home made salsa. The omelette was faboulos-great quality ingredients and cooked the way I liked it. The second visit I had their house specialty-seafood omelette filled with crab and shrimp. This was real crab, not the imitation you find in most restaurants. I give the omelette 5 Stars. I even tried the pancakes, which I really liked-thin, not thick or fluffy, my favorite style. I even had a slice of the boysenberry apple Pie. One of the best pies I've tasted! Quality ingredients that was not store bought. The restaurant itself has been around for many years. It is very rustic looking inside but clean and well maintained. The service is outstanding. On the first day I had a very nice server that made sure that I was provided with excellent service. The second day I had a young lady named Kelsey who really was very attentive and polite. The owner of the store was also working, serving customers. The restaurant had a lot of customers, so I checked out what they were ordering such as sandwiches and other items. If I lived in Ramona, I would be visiting the Ramona Cafe often. I therefore HIGHLY RECOMMEND it!

This was a great breakfast spot. Their cinnamon rolls are soooo good. Everything we ordered was delicious and portions were huge. The waitress was very nice and service was great!

We ventured out to Ramona for a morning breakfast and wanted to patronize a local restaurant not a corporate restaurant store. Ramona cafe did not disappoint us. A local restaurant with lots of historical and local flair. The Garden skillet breakfast was awesome. Generous portions and attentive support servers. Their greetings and smiles were in abundant supply!

Amazing cafe where you can sit inside or outside. You pick a table and sit down - no hostess. I love that! We had Amber as our server, and she was super accommodating and friendly! I had the Baja Scramble- sooo good! It was a lot of food, and I couldn't finish it all. But I'm having the leftovers for breakfast now at my house and loving the scramble once again! I can't wait to be up in Ramona, so I can go there again!

Good food and excellent service. You can still order breakfast items for lunch. We ordered the Denver omelet. Food portions were awesome! It comes with a choice of toast and potatoes

Seafood omelet, this is a must try. Simply Delicious

That commitment to quality and sustainability is commendable and something more restaurants should strive for. The staff is knowledgeable, and it's refreshing to see a restaurant that cares about where its food comes from. Unfortunately, that attention to ingredient sourcing seems to stop when it comes to cooking oils. Many of the menu items are prepared with soybean oil, which was disappointing given the otherwise high-quality and health-conscious image of the restaurant. Soybean oil is highly processed and contains large amounts of omega-6 polyunsaturated fats. While omega-6 fats are essential in moderation, excessive consumption relative to omega-3 intake has been associated with increased inflammation in some research. Soybean oil is also more susceptible to oxidation when exposed to high cooking temperatures, potentially producing compounds that some studies suggest may contribute to oxidative stress. In addition, many health-conscious consumers actively avoid industrial seed oils such as soybean, corn, and canola oils in favor of alternatives like olive oil, avocado oil, butter, or tallow. I would gladly give Marinade on Main a higher rating if they aligned their cooking oils with the same local, high-quality standards they apply to the rest of their ingredients. Switching to avocado oil or olive oil or beef talo would be a welcome improvement and would better match the restaurant's otherwise impressive commitment to quality. * also loose the standard strip of high fructose sodas and provide more natural optikns of drinks ...

[TL;DR: Served inedible food I did not eat, charged in full, zero attempt to make it right.]…read more I very rarely leave negative reviews and don't nitpick or blast places over small issues - and you can check my other reviews to verify that. I had heard great things about this place, which makes it even more disappointing. The only positive was the quaint country ambiance, including a nice old mural on the wall. Service was a bit slow, but it was a busy Sunday morning, so that's understandable and not part of my rating. The food, however, was inedible. I should note here that I came in quite hungry and with a specific hankering for a greasy chicken fried steak and eggs, so I was in a very easy to please state. I ordered the eggs "over medium," and the eggs came out with raw, runny whites and were also cold. The toast didn't arrive until 5-10 minutes later, so everything just sat there getting colder. The "steak" was mostly fat and gristle. The first couple of bites I ate were gristly but doable with help from the gravy - but the third bite was a giant glob of gristly fat that I couldn't even chew - i spit it out and that's all I ate. The hash browns tasted like frozen unseasoned potatoes with only a patch of sear on the outside while the bulk of it was mushy and pasty and gross. Of the whole meal I basically only ate my toast plus a bite or two of each thing on my plate. I left feeling sick to my stomach. After dropping off the food (and later the delayed toast), our server never checked back. No refills, no follow-up. When she finally returned, she asked to clear my very full, barely touched plate without any acknowledgment. I had to volunteer that the food was inedible. The response was dismissive and rushed, with no effort to understand the issue or make it right. An offhand "sorry about that" was offered while walking away, followed shortly by the $60 bill. The complete lack of accountability and concern was frankly abhorrent. This was one of the worst dining experiences I've had, and I won't be back. I would have left hungry except that I was queasy from the gristle and paste.

They were sitting right next to the Julian pies and it kinda looked like a fight, like a battle of the mountain bakeries kind of fight. Needless to say, I grabbed both because everyone immediately glorifies the Julian pie so by including the Ramona pie, my objective was to introduce some low risk novelty for my Christmas get-together. I didn't have high hopes for Ramona's blueberry because I was suspicious of the huge bready looking crust roll in combination with the sticker on the front boasting "no seed oils". I'm not fluent in baking alchemy. I was raised on Costco pie (bleh). So, I thought this was going to be dry and overly sweet but much to my whole family's surprise, Ramona was the winner! My takeaway: Do not discriminate the chubby crust roll! Take it from me because I'm a savage that eats a pie right out of the fridge. The crust is like a shortbread cookie. It's almost on the Italian pastry spectrum. Very delicious. Very coffee friendly. The blueberry filling was also perfectly balanced. It wasn't too sweet and even with the crumble topping, I felt like I could eat it with yogurt in the morning and trick myself into calling it a wholesome breakfast. Now, I'm going to say this with a huge shield up... but it knocked the Julian apple pie way off the shelf for me.
