It is very hard to find any restaurants that have Octopus around East Tennessee. I tried 3 times to order Pulpo Pacifico Nayarit online and it would have been $39.58. When I paid it was $41.49, for some reason an extra dollar of tax and $1 for to go fee. I called 2 times to get ahold of someone to order and I said 3 times not hot. I came to pick up my order and was greeted when I walked in. The employees were all very friendly. I got my order and when I opened it I thought, oh crap it looks hella hot. I didn't want to have them remake it. So, yea... it was fire going in... and out... It was freakin delicious though and great grilled flavor. I will definitely come back but make emphasis on Mild. The salsa, they gave chips and salsa with a little thing of a orange salsa. I put a little bit in the regular salsa and oh man it was spicy but soooo good! read more

I have to update and upgrade my rating. I went on a Saturday afternoon, not nearly as crowded or noisy as the previous time (no mariachi band). Service was fine, although the waitress was a little weak with English and my Spanish has limits for sure, too. BUT-- the food was quite good. I didn't eat a LOT-- had a ceviche tostada and empanadas of shrimp and cheese; took home half of the empanadas because I had overdosed on chips and an excellent salsa (I should say, excellent salsa compared to the free salsa at most other places-- its not GREAT salsa but was far superior to the watery and bland mess often served up these days. I still think they could improve their menu. Too many items have weak or no descriptions. I have an allergy to shellfish (mollusks-- shrimp and lobster are fine but oysters and clams, etc. are taboo). So a picture of a seafood combo or soup or molcajete etc. which does not list the specific types of meat are not enough, (and as I said, it was clear that communication with the waitress on this point would not ensure my safety). I would love to try their seafood-based molcajete dishes but couldn't take the risk. Prices are a bit high but it's seafood, so that's somewhat to be expected. Overall, it was much better this time and I'd go there gladly the next time I want good, fresh ceviche. read more

Absolutely the best authentic Mexican seafood in Knoxville, TN! Service is fantastic too! Waitress is looming around making sure food and beverages are to your satisfaction and it always is. Ate at a Mariano's Pacifico in Greensboro, NC and was so excited to find this one down the street from our hotel in Knoxville, Tennessee! While the restaurant may share the same name and menu, taste is nothing near the same and was so disappointing. Food was quite flavorless both the fried tilapia as well as the fish tacos. The fish tacos were actually the duplicate of Gordon's frozen fish filets you can buy at the grocery store, placed in a flour tortilla. Even the rice had no flavor! read more

Well the food is pretty good, prices not so much. Service is just ridiculous, management included. Had a problem with one of our meals and they didn't even make it right. The manager was absolutely no help. I've been to more inexpensive restaurants with better service. Not to mention the fact that the air conditioning barely work. The menu is HUGE like Cheesecake Factory with plenty of non seafood options, $150 platters, and a massive drink lineup. From Gringo to Gringo, It's a great place to go BUT, their "Not Spicy" and MY "Not Spicy" are DIFFERENT! I'm writing while finishing my Seafood Empanadas from last night and my nose is running and my tongue is on fire but they're really good! I simply could not eat 4 of them and live last night! My wife had a VERY TASTY seafood dish served in a PINEAPPLE!!!! and I had the ribs which were excellent! Last night was Mariachi night which was interesting but WAY TOO LOUD! This fun entertainment was in front of our table interacting with a large group and that was wonderful but it also blocked the waitstaff from OUR table. This is probably not common so no points off for that (unless slow service is actually common. Let's assume it's not). There were families with kids there and there is a kids menu but IMHO it's not really child appropriate but again, just my opinion. Price is reasonable. Appetizers run from $10 to...the wife got 12 oysters at maybe $25 I think. The entrees are similar. It's a seafood restaurant and it's niche and it's entertaining and it's flamboyant so that all matters but I would say entrees run from $18 for the DELICIOUS ribs I got to I think around $50 or so if you get lobster etc. Significantly cheaper than Chesapeake (although it's a totally different menu, style, ambiance etc) on par with Bonefish in price structure. The take away is that you can't find these menu items anywhere else. This is DIFFERENT and trust me when I say it is ALL spicy, grab your Tums before you go. If you know what this place is then absolutely GO!!! BUT...if you don't know what to expect going it, it can take getting used to. In closing, GO! It's fun, it's good, it's different and it's not all that expensive really. read more

Been there several times. Cost is on the high side, but the quantity of food they provide is enough for several meals at home. Note that there are several restaurants in other cities with a similar name, but they are not connected. I always get seafood and it is outstanding in the quality and quantity. It's difficult to get prawns, squid and octopus in Knoxville. The cerviche and paella are fresh and flavorful. The wait staff are efficient, although occasionally they do not speak English. The place is always busy. I think this is a gem that most people are unaware of. I'd highly recommend it for authentic Mexican fare. read more

We tried Mariscos Pacifico Nayarit on a Friday night, 03Dec21. I had the fish fillet with the seafood medley on it, and my wife had the shrimp plate. The restaurant was clean and they were moderately busy. I have no complaints about the service; our server was efficient, friendly, and helpful. I liked my meal, though I'm not 100% sure that the "crabmeat" and "octopus" in my medley was authentic. The portions were large, hot, and fresh. The reason for the three-star review is as follows: There was a mariachi band performing around the restaurant, complete with not one, but two trumpets. The guys were very good and they seemed to have an endless repertoire of songs, but the trumpets were unbelievably and piercingly loud. They were used (enthusiastically) on every song, and even though they seemed to be in perfect harmony the volume was ridiculous. They played the entire time that we were there, making conversation totally impossible and it truly diminished our whole experience. As a musician myself, I hate to make it all about the horns, but it is what it is - and it's annoyingly loud. Maybe we'll try again, but we will definitely call ahead first to make sure there's no band. read more

There was a decent amount of patrons there when I walked in. I sat at the bar and was the only person at the bar so I hoped I'd get good service. I asked the lady behind the bar for a beer and she brought it right away but never said welcome, hi, or anything. It took my about 10 minutes to finish my beer and the lady never said a word to me, checked on me or even offer me a menu. I paid for my beer and let the manager know on my way out. This a totally unique restaurant. Relatively new and it seems they have some wrinkles to hash out. English is second language, Spanish is first. However, communication is not terribly difficult. The menu is vastly different than any I have seen stateside. Even in CA. It is an adventure in culinary discovery. Not cheap but fascinating. Hope they can get the wrinkles smoothed out because this could be a great place. The drinks are amazing. We will be back to try that compelling menu. read more

We visited Mariscos Pacifico Nayarit to try their food since it is only a few restaurants in my area that offer seafood (Mexican style). The food is good in quality and quantity and the prices are reasonable, but definitively their service has to improve a lot, our waitress pretty much forget about us after the meals were served, and our drinks pretty much weren't refilled until I order the check (we did ask for To-Go sodas but the waitress charge us additional for that). When we complain about that she tries to fix it but the amount on the check did not match the 2 beverages we order; we decide to keep the amount and leave a lower tip (we normally leave around 20%, this time I lowered to 15%). As I mention the food is OK also the prices are in the range, but service has to improve a lot. We will revisit the place in few weeks and if there is any change I will update the review. read more

While the food is decent, the service is horrible. We waited well over an hour for our food, which was delivered one plate at a time when it finally did come. By the time the last person got their food, everyone else was done eating. We watched tables come in after us, get food, eat, and leave before we ever saw the first meal. We asked multiple time for cheese dip, mixed drinks and drink refills and never got them. The $47 price for 2 adult meals and a kids meal is not worth the hassle of the service. read more

The food is good and authentic. However the service is terrible! This is our 2nd time there and the waitresses don't always remember your order or if they do they bring you the wrong portion size. You mention it to them and they say that that's what you ordered when it's not despite pointing to the menu to show exactly what you want. When you order drinks for you kids make sure to order them the adult size of a drink because they charge you the same price as an adult drink and give you less. This place has absolutely amazing food but the environment my wife and I experienced today will make us think twice about going back. There was a mariachi band playing today that was so loud that we had to scarf down our food as quickly as we could and leave. We have no problems with the restaurant having live music today but this roving band, with an extremely loud trumpet and vocalist, played at the table next to us for over 50 minutes. I was going to ask for another table but, because the band appeared to be moving around, we figured that we'd stay and the band would move on...we were not so lucky. I commented to our server two times that the band playing next to our table was way too loud but she just shrugged her shoulders in a gesture that seemed to indicate that she understood but there was nothing that she could do. I watched as servers and customers being seated struggled to make their way through the roving band to tables. Even more concerning, the trumpeter in the band played over top of a toddler in a high chair that must have really taxed her ears. I'm all for lively music but this was just too much. Maybe if the band had remained in a dedicated place to play, the music would not have been so intolerable. If the management took the time to make sure that the dining environment was as pleasurable as their exceptional food, this place would be a home run. We won't be eating here again any time soon...if ever. read more
