Our server was Autumn, and she was awesome! Great service from start to finish. She started us off with an assortment of warm breads, and they were all very good! The special of the day was Seafood Gumbo, and let me tell you, it was SPECIAL! Great flavor with just the right amount of spice. My advice: try it before reaching for the hot sauce. To me, it was absolutely perfect just the way it came! For my lunch entrée, I went with the Fried Clam Strips. Overall an excellent experience. We got Eggs Chesapeake and the crab cake Benedict. Service was unobtrusive and excellent. Prices on brunch were exceptional considering the seafood. They also took my allergies seriously. Only issues were the "poached" eggs on one dish were very soft boiled and the other dish was halfway to soft boiled. No runny yolk on either dish. The steak on the Chesapeake was excellent and cooked perfect. The Benedict Crab didn't taste as fresh as we'd expected and it was pretty cold actually. Still, overall very good and we'll be back. Just wish the eggs were cooked correctly and the crab cakes were hot and tasted a bit fresher. The free birthday dessert and card were wonderful touches and the breakfast "bread" was so lovely. We decided to eat dinner there last night. I ordered the Shrimp Imperial, and my husband had the shrimp salad. Neither dish had fresh tasting shrimp. It had a weird pungent taste to it like it had gone bad. We normally eat at the one downtown, and have had great meals there. Prices in the menu have gone up substantially. I'm always happy to pay a premium price for a good meal, but we had a very disappointing experience there last night. read more

I'm giving Chesapeake's four stars based on past experience rather than the dishes we had last night. The restaurant was very busy and the staff were working very hard. The best dish of the night was the Blue Crab Dip. Served with toasted crostini, it came out piping hot with a beautiful toasted cheesy crust. Really delicious. The filet was a very good cut of meat and served very hot. The disappointment was in the seafood salad. Large portion of crab and shrimp on a bed of lettuce with tomatoes and boiled egg. This needs to be tweaked to add flavor and some visual interest. On other occasions, the Maryland Crab Cakes have been amazing and the Delaware Pie is one of the best desserts I have ever eaten. read more

Plenty of parking, nice service, very mediocre expensive food and not an extensive menu. Drink menu is also small and mediocre. There is a $25 corkage fee so that may be the best option. I've been twice now and both times were pretty disappointing. The food was similar in taste to what you would get at any regular restaurant. The best part about it for me was the space itself. Looks like it used to be a car dealership or something because it has huge bay windows. There are also big fish tanks throughout the restaurant which are actually really cool. read more

We had a business lunch at the West Knoxville location. The place is lively, but not too noisy to conduct a meeting. They have a good selection of light meals and heavier items. I went for the seared Ahi Tuna salad. The lettuce was perfectly fresh and the Ahi was cooked perfectly. The dressing is some sort of "Asian vinaigrette" which I liked a lot. There were a LOT of wasabi peas, so I pushed some to the side since I am not a fan of super-spicy food. The other person has some food allergies and the server was very knowledgeable about their menu and she was able to give several recommendations. Food is normally very good but today is Mother's Day and they only have a buffet available for $50/ person. The food is not hot, the bread is cold and the desserts are almost gone already. It's only 5 pm! The prime rib is tough, ham is ice cold and everything is just ok. The service is good, but the people running food to the buffet line can't keep up. We enjoyed sitting outside. This was the first time I've been back in awhile and it was not the same. Normally I give them 5 stars and love everything I eat. Not so much today. I met friends there and one was stuck in traffic since it was about 5 o'clock when we got there so we waited for her to order. It did take longer than we thought it would otherwise we would have waited longer outside but there were tons of empty tables at 5 so we figured it would be ok. We got some bread and it was a little crunchier /drier than usual but with some butter it was fine. I was hungry because I had worked long and late and just had a snack for lunch so I can take out some bread. We got 1 croissant, 1 roll and a muffin in our first basket. Since we were waiting I asked for more bread and we got a croissant and a roll in the next basket. Our other friend had arrived so she ate the roll and some of the croissant but there were 3 of us and we had been given 5 pieces of bread total. Eating 1-2 pieces of bread is not unheard of right? Am I crazy? Other restaurants will give you a whole little loaf and I can eat the whole thing and then some plus my meal. I asked politely for more bread and the server said we couldn't get anymore unless we ordered... maybe she's gotten burned before by people just ordering water and getting bread and leaving? We are about to drop $40+ dollars each on dinner just for one entree plus tip and you can't give me some more bread? I guess not. We didn't realize traffic would be so bad (it was terrible today) and our friend would take so long (I estimate about 40 minutes from when we sat)... so she got there and the server brought her a water when she sat down without even asking and that was nice. She wasn't ready to order when she sat down so we said just give us a minute and then the server didn't come back for a while. So we decided to order even though she wasn't ready so we could at least get our food in. There were still at least 6-7 empty tables (probably more) around us before we got our order in which took a while because our server was gone and no one passed by our table that would look our way to ask for her. Then we finally got our food and I thought fresh tomatoes would be more than two slices... otherwise I would have ordered something else. Apparently that's all you get. Two slices of tomato. That's a $5 side friends. They weren't even that great. My tomatoes from the garden taste better and would be worth more. They were just average store bought tomatoes that weren't quite ripe. They looked all right on the plate but for $5 at least slice the whole tomato up for me. Overall we were underwhelmed. The crab cakes I got were still good but the sides were all just okay. The service was subpar. Ambiance was fine, seemed normal with the big open wear house. I will not be requesting to go back anytime soon. Maybe in a couple years after the service is back to what it used to be. For the price it was not worth it. read more

I need to remember to take photos! We had reservations for 6:15 PM and our party of six was seated at that time. We so appreciated not having to wait at all. We had two dozen oysters on the half shell but I can't remember which ones. They were so good and we could definitely tell the difference between each dozen. We also had the crab fingers and the stuffed mushrooms, enjoying them down to the last bite. Our entrees were so very good. The live Maine Lobster was steamed to perfection, and there was an option for the lobster to be prepared at the table. Of course the answer was yes. Two in the party had the rib-eye steak, cooked to a true medium rare, and tasted great. The other entrees were grilled scallops with drawn butter, salmon, and some fancy fish that is not normally on the menu (I can't remember the name of it). We had sides, a house salad, a wedge salad, and a cup of crab bisque. Seriously, every item brought to our table was delicious! We left feeling fat and sassy. Underwhelming. Friendly greeting from hostess. We were early for dinner reservation so went to the bar. Greeting was "Are you eating here". Nope, waiting for our table. We started with Empress 75 cocktails which were dull. Much better versions available at Lilou and the Vault. I received a text when our table was ready, then a phone call. The hostess could have simply grabbed menus and met us at the bar. Paid bar tab with a tacky hand held card reader. Bartender stood there while I inserted card, pressed tip button, all the class of a food truck. Waitress was lovely, friendly, couldn't have been nicer. Menu had items with "market price" and included sheet of paper with specials. "Market Price" is a stupid holdover from days when menus came from expensive print shops. It costs pennies to print the specials on a sheet of paper, include the price of everything or put them on a board. It's pretty easy. Crab bisque was tasty with good texture but had shell fragments. Crab cake was delicious but lacked char and lumps of meat, a bit too homogenous. Blackened scallops were disappointing. Scallops had blackening seasoning but no char, blackening. Also, very small and stingy portion. The menu did not specify diver scallops but I expected something a bit more substantial. The side was the special of green beens, small serving advertised with a thyme butter but had no sign of any seasoning. 9 oz filet with lobster tails also disappointing. Filet was grey, little char, under seasoned and had slight liver taste - cooked too slow. Lobster a bit dry. Baked spinach side was good. Like the bar, check came with tacky hand held card reader. The waitress stood there while I made transaction, tipped etc. The whole meal was a let down, felt stingy and boring. The room is pretty, menu has potentially good options but nothing was executed well, nothing to return for. Chesapeake's is not a prohibitively expensive restaurant but not a cheap night out either and for the price, felt like a bit of a rip off. read more

Absolutely wonderful fall the way around. The food was delicious and well prepared. I was there on a Friday night and reservations (highly recommend). We got there early and sat at the bar. We wound up just having dinner at the bar. Excellent liquor and wine selections. Bartenders and staff were able to provide great recommendations and their service was outstanding. The restaurant is spacious and while there were a lot of folks you don't feel crowded. Prices were reasonable and not out of bounds for the food and the service you receive. Waiters, please always give customers time to look at their bills before you take their card and swipe in those little machines you can bring to the table. Tonight our waiter brought the bills and the machine together and swiped one card (two couples, split our bills) before he had looked at his tab at all. I realized after that, before giving him my card, that he had screwed up the bills and given me the more expensive tab (about a $35 difference). When I pointed it out, the waiter says "oh, he owes you some money" and offered to do nothing else. OK, I can afford it, but I can see some people who might be very upset but such. Sure, my buddy should have held on to his card and looked at his tab, but not everyone does that. Waiters, give us time! read more

Very Disappointing Experience - Poor Service Overshadowed the Evening Dinner started out pleasant enough, but things went downhill fast once it was time to order. When I asked for the filet and lobster tail, the waitress asked what side I wanted. I politely asked if they had mashed potatoes, and her facial expression immediately changed -- she looked visibly annoyed, as if I'd done something wrong by not memorizing their side options. When I asked to see the sides menu again, she acted irritated and dismissive. Later, she brought me a cocktail that tasted overwhelmingly peppery -- completely undrinkable. I asked her to take it back and simply ordered a beer instead. By that point, even the people at my table noticed her attitude and asked, "What did you do to make her so mad?" Apparently, just asking about the sides was enough to offend her. What was supposed to be a nice dinner turned into a frustrating experience because of unprofessional service and poor attitude. Visited the location in Gatlinburg and loved it, however when I called today to ask a few simple questions Riley (I'm sure she was the host) was very rude and short. She left a bad taste in my mouth with her insignificant customer service skills and we changed our mind on going there. Maybe we'll try again in the future but for such a high end classy restaurant you should invest in more customer service oriented people especially when they're the first person you interact with when you walk in or call.
