I had never worked…read morewith a trainer before, but I felt like I wasn't getting as much as I could out of my gym membership, and wanted to give the whole "serious fitness" thing a try. Jonathan asked all the right questions about my goals, history, and lifestyle, and came up with a very reasonable nutrition and training plan that was easy to follow consistently. I was already active and in decent shape, so I wasn't sure how much I'd get out of working with a trainer; I thought I might lose a few pounds, learn how to lift weights properly, maybe get a little bit stronger. Five months later, I basically look like I'm ready for Fight Club. I look like Tyler Durden, if Tyler Durden was a lady. That sounds weird. It's not. It's FANTASTIC. I'm also able to do two pull-ups and I'm working toward more, so take that, humiliating 5th grade Presidential Fitness Test that I couldn't pass and cried about. Workouts are challenging but never boring, and I really appreciate having a source of straightforward, cheerful motivation, i.e. there is no "R. Lee Ermey in Full Metal Jacket"-style screaming involved. The best part is how personal and personalized everything feels; one of the things that makes the program so easy to follow is that it's uniquely tailored to my life. Jonathan is incredibly knowledgeable about fitness and nutrition, gifted at creating a personalized program that evolves as you and your goals do, incredibly accessible and responsive to questions, and great at explaining the science behind his work if that's something you're curious about (although what's happened to my body still seems like dark, awesome sorcery.) Can't recommend him or Form from Function highly enough.

There are times when I'm angry with Jonathan for not being around a decade ago. If only I knew then…read morewhat I know now I would have saved myself hours at the gym, being the girl always getting a salad with dressing on the side, and still ending up frustrated when my body wouldn't change. I spent my 20s going between skinny fat and seriously chubby ugh...but enough about me. Jonathan really took time to understand my goals, lifestyle, habits etc. and created a truly personalized plan, nothing like those cookie cutter ones I got before, you know where you get just enough results but never anything substantial. My first goal was to get ab definition, we got there in 6 weeks and shortly thereafter hit my other goal of doing a full pull up on my own (I got teary on that one). Once I achieve something we set a new goal and come up with a plan to get there, and Jonathan is with you the entire time to help, adjust and support. He's really knowledgable but also super friendly and funny so he makes even most challenging workouts a pleasure and something to look forward to. Really I sort of want "a Jonathan" for my life lol. But seriously, I became so much more educated about fitness and nutrition...in my mid 30s I have the best body I ever had and my confidence is sky high!!!! Thank you Form From Function, I'd give them 10 stars if I could.

What a hidden gem! I searched for a "home base" yoga studio for two years after moving to Stamford…read morefrom NYC and a friend recommended BK:ONE. I'm so happy I've finally found my yoga home :) The studio is so beautiful, plant filled, and smells absolutely amazing. BK has curated such a thoughtful space that you instantly melt into as soon as you climb up the stairs. She offers a variety of classes for all levels and every teacher I've had has been so lovely and helpful. You can create a little mini retreat on Sundays (they offer a series of classes you can take back to back if you want a nice reset). Sacred Ground is my favorite Sunday class. It's a nice mix of movement and meditation. I typically take Open Flow classes Monday and Wednesday mornings which are perfect for all different levels. I had taken a pause from yoga during pregnancy/postpartum and BK was able to assess my current level and offer really thoughtful adjustments each class to help me in my practice. If you're looking for a thoughtful, community-focused yoga practice that honors your body, mind and spirit, BK:ONE is the perfect place.

Kim and Break Thru Family Fitness have been nothing short of life-changing for my daughter. I…read morepromise this isn't an exaggeration. She never felt comfortable in competitive sport or team settings, and we struggled to find a physical activity that was enjoyable for her. However she very much needed activity for better health and mood management. Kim was recommended to us via a Facebook parent group, and we are so glad we made that first session appointment! My daughter felt comfortable with Kim from the first day, and immediately felt a sense of accomplishment after getting through the first workout. She comes twice a week and is always very excited to see Kim and work out. Kim is special- she puts everyone at ease, is positive and encouraging and a great listener. My daughter has learned how good it feels to exercise and also how positively it effects her mood; from a long-term health perspective, this is gold. Kim is an extraordinarily kind person and is great with kids (and adults!). The gym is large and fully equipped, complete with special equipment sized for children. However, all ages and abilities work out here and there are a variety of other classes on offer (but my daughter just really loves the one on one training). If other gyms have put you off, or you or your kid need an adaptable, accepting environment to try something new, I can't recommend Kim and Break Thru Family Fitness enough!

Amazing body shaping and healing experience! Pilates sessions with Sonia have done much better for…read moremy health than any of my physical therapy assigned by my doctor when I was diagnosed with the herniated disc in my lower back. Sonia created the unbelievable body awareness for me that I maintain not only during our pilates session but also during my other workout like yoga, swimming and workout at the gym. I've always been an active person and I workout through different forms of exercises. I could never get to this level if it wasn't for pilates. I can feel the difference in my body; the way pilates shaped it. Now, I know why celebrities choose pilates...LOL Sonia truly wants her students to carry the benefit of their workout throughout their whole life. I was instructed to continue certain exercises at home what I absolutely love that the studio doesn't limit the teaching to their time only. She genuinely cares about her students. This studio is her passion! In addition, the Pilates Symmetry studio is very beautiful, spotless and extremely well equipped.
