This hotel is literally one of the worst hotels I've ever seen. It's extremely dirty, mattresses are stained with brown spots, the doors DO NOT shut all the way including the rooms entry door, the bathroom door won't lock and the knob is about to fall off, there was a long red hair on a 'clean' folded towel, the paint is chipping all over the place, the curtains are stained beyond belief, there are cracks in the door frames, the pool is a joke and shut down (not noted anywhere), there was a leftover bottle of pineapple vodka in the fridge, the room smelled like human urine, there were no sheets on the fold out sofa, and that mattress was also stained with brown spots, the sheets on the beds were stained, the extra blanket in the 'closet' had white crusted stuff all over it, there was globs of caulking on the wall, we asked for more sheets and they never came so we went down to get them and they gave us another crusty blanket with cigarette holes and no pillow, the railing on the balconies and walk ways are like plastic PVC pipes and they're cracked throughout, the elevator has no safety sensor if you try to stop the doors from closing with your arm or leg. We had such a horrible experience and had hotels.com switch our reservation to another hotel near by. I honestly don't understand how this hotel is still in business. If I could give 0 stars I would! We booked the hotel for 80 bucks a night and we got there, NO HEAT! They had 2 space heaters in a suite!! We called the front desk and all they had to say was that the space heaters would heat the room or we could check out! We contemplated staying until we went into the bathroom and there were pubs all over the seat, urine on the floors. NOPE! We called and got a full refund! I would highly recommend going to another hotel. The staff was rude and I unwilling to help. As we came downstairs the staff laughed at us telling the other staff member to handle it. Dirty, gross and dirty. Blood stains on the pull out couch bed. "Hairs" all over the blankets. The elevator stinks and takes multiple trips to your floor before you can actually get on it. The bathtub felt like it was going to collapse into the floor below. The railings on the balconies are very weak. Parking is a nightmare. read more

The best part of this hotel was the front desk (Bresa!) She was amazing and very helpful. She was very polite and made us feel very welcome. The hotel itself needs major renovations! This hotel is semi-decent if you are just trying to find a place to sleep. But it's not clean, the air vents have mold which can have carbon dioxide and causes the room to smell like pee. Also they didn't pay for one of the rooms tv so we had no cable and none of there ice machines worked. The table to sit and eat kept wobbling so I would rate this hotel a 1 or less sorry but this was just horrible considering this a hotel resort and not a motel. read more

My family and I spent Monday-Wednesday of the week of August 17. After reading the bad reviews online about the hotel, I felt scared that I had made a bad decision in booking with them. The location of the hotel is perfect...right on the boardwalk. Well, right from the start there was the issue with the parking. The spaces are very small, but since I got there pretty early, I managed to get a good spot! I checked in around 8:30am and of course I was aware I was plenty early. I had booked for 2 rooms, and was told that there was a $5 resort fee per day per room, so a total of $20 extra I had to cough up. I asked for early check-in for one of the rooms and paid $25 for that option. I was told that between 12-12:30pm a room would be ready. I gave my contact info and asked to be called when a room became avaliable. Well its 12:30pm and still nothing. I call the hotel and the unpleasant front desk lady said she would call me in 10 minutes. Ok, I wait.....for an HOUR! At this point my kids are agitated, since we are at the beach at this point, hoping that a room becomes open. Well at 2:30pm...1.5 hours before check-in I finally get a call from the front desk lady saying my room is ready. Well, lucky for us we were on the 2nd floor and could use the stairs because the single elevator with a 5 person max was taking forever. We get to our rooms, and at least it looks a bit better than what I expected. There was a horrible stench when the cabinets were opened that nearly made me gag. The place was run down a bit, with peeled bedroom walls, ripped curtians and peeling in the tub. We managed to overlook a these issue and make the best of our 3 day stay there. I had asked for my two rooms to be near each other, but at 4pm when i went down to pick up my 2nd room key, they said the best they could do a room all the way down the hall. The pool this hotel has is pretty pathetic; its 4.5 ft deep and smacked right in the center of the parking lot. We never used. Just returned from a week at Marjac Suites. I'll start with the pros- they won't take long. - low price - central location -bathroom and kitchen were both updated within the past few years and were reasonably clean -no bugs And now the cons. - super small lobby - tiny elevator that doesn't work all the time - front desk staff who appear to have better things to do rather than helping guests. There was a guy named Paul there and he was friendly and helpful. But otherwise they didn't have much in the way of people skills. - hit or miss housekeeping. One day they didn't even show up. Two of the days they did show up they seemed very eager to get us to sign a paper saying that we didn't want the room cleaned that day. Had to chase them down for the correct amount of towels every day. -wallpaper in room was bubbled up from floor to ceiling in living room. Looked like some sort of water damage. -sofa bed was very, very old and difficult to open and close. The mattress appeared to have some mold on the underside. And there were sheets on it but it took several days to get a blanket for it. They had run out of them. -pool seemed like it was tended to first thing in the morning and then I never saw anyone check the water or pool area for the rest of the day. -kitchen had dishes, two plastic cups, sparse silverware (1 spoon, couple forks, butter knives, no sharper knives whatsoever), no dish soap or dish towels. We were told that the hotel is under new management and that they expect that there are changes and updates coming. Possibly the problems we encountered this year could be attributed to the transitional period. I would give it one more try as we have stayed there in the past and didn't have issues. read more

I wouldn't consider myself picky when it comes to outside appearance or amenities, but I am a stickler when it comes to cleanliness. I was definitely not satisfied with my room cleanliness. So much that I actually changed my mind and didn't stay the night. Every time I stay in a hotel, I check the reviews on cleanliness and I also thoroughly inspect the bed to make sure that the sheets have been changed and that there are not any traces of bed bugs. While I was inspecting the bed I found a large piece of a hair extension on the mattress under the the flat sheet which is disgusting. There was also hard little black stuff on the mattress..I don't know what it was-maybe it was from outside. But still it was on the mattress! Just to think of it makes my skin crawl. I guess I have to give this place at least one star so I will.... it was ocean front and we had a great view which makes it worth the one star. However, the staff will tell you all sorts of bbn lies over the phone to get you to book with them. Once you check in you will be for a ride awakening! There is a big language barrier among most of the staff which makes getting results nearly impossible. We stayed 3 nights only, thank goodness! Never once did the cleaning staff come check on our room or make our beds up. We had to hunt someone down to get more towels and thankfully brought some of our towels, and pillows, blankets, ect. The kitchen had 2 bowls, 2 plates, 2 cups, a fork, a spoon, 3 coffee cups, a small pan and a small pot. A room that sleeps 6 should at least have 6 of the most il important things. It was hard to cook with what is provided and bring your own dish soap because there isn't any. The elevator is TINY and there is only one.... it runs super slow and doesn't even have a single vent in it so it's hot and scary. If you must stay here pick to stay on level 2 or 3 at the highest so you can take the stairs. You will be glad you did. Don't bother complaining about anything because the manager won't do a thing but stare at you. One of the two AC units we had didn't work and our fridge which is a MINI fridge so small it was smaller than the space cut out of the cabinets for it.... didn't keep anything frozen in the top section, hardly fit anything, and took a whole day to even get cold. So bring lots of coolers, but don't rely on their ice machine, the ONE they have for the whole hotel, it didn't work most the time. Luckily there are plenty of stores near by. For the price, the place just isn't worth it. I could go on and on. Stay somewhere else! read more

If I could give less than one star, I would've already done it. Customer service is terrible, at best. I give credit where credit is due, but this place deserves no credit. If you want a slightly discounted party animal hole, this is your spot. They tried to dress up an old hotel, but the paint is sloppy, everywhere, the sink is cracked, the fixtures are dated, and all they've really done is put some granite on top of the counters and added some newer carpet and tile, but there's an old phrase about putting lipstick on a pig. This is the kind of place that sells room to five people, and 25 stack in a room, and management doesn't give a crap. The noise was horrible. And for gods sake's do not stay in room 714 near the elevator. Unless you want to be woken up literally 75 to 100 times per night when the stairs door slams right behind your headboard, stay away. The elevator is ridiculously slow, resulting in all the upper floors using the stairs. The parking is ridiculously tight, and a number of people were double and triple parked. We even stayed put for a night, choosing not to leave the hotel to eat because we feared not being able to get a parking space upon return. Instead we walked four blocks to get something to eat. Let me just start by saying the is the absolute worst hotel I have ever stayed at!' Im sitting in the hotel lobby writing the review as we speak! The customer service is absolutely terrible. The AC broke but from the other yelp reviews Im assuming it's been broken for awhile. That wasn't the issue the issue is the way they handled it. Instead of apologizing they told us we could switch rooms or leave. We decided to switch rooms but we were on the beach so it took a minute to get up to the room change clothes so we could pack. An hour in we got a nasty call from the front desk telling us we needed to hurry up! This is our vacation and we paid 800 dollars to stay here for 3 nights no one should be telling us to hurry up for their mistake! On top of the AC being broken the refrigerator didn't work. The door to the hotel room was broken, our trash was never taken out and we had to ask for toilet paper and towels. Now let me talk about customer service. I've been in the industry for about 15 years. If I make a mistake I own it and apologize profusely. That will not happen here. After being in 90 degree heat and going to a room with no AC the last thing you want to hear from front desk staff is to deal with it because they are having to deal with it too. I paid to stay here they are getting paid to work here. There's the difference. I have never stayed at a place where employees treat guest so terribly. I would never recommend this to a single person. I let my mom book the rooms for our vacation which was extremely last second. I am not picky, I don't need to stay anywhere "nice" but this place is beyond repulsive. The room floors weren't cleaned, the sink backed up immediately and didn't drain from me brushing my teeth even after I left for a beach trip and came back. There was old food of some sort smeared up the sink, there was crumbs all over the kitchen table seats, and the hallway outside of our room was in was 1000 degrees because there was hot air blowing right in your face when you walk out of the room. All the parking spots were taken up by people who weren't staying there and all they could offer me was a make shift spot where a car could back into me or where a car had to squeeze through considering the parking lot is tight as hell. If you need to pull out of tour spot regardless of where you are, you're forced to K-turn. Someone would've hit my car so I couldn't do it. There were people all over the balcony all night long screaming and my mother barely missed the spit someone on the balcony accidentally or purposely spit directly behind her. The lobby is the size of a small bathroom and people were just hanging out in there without masks. We took the stairs the few times we went up and down because the elevator had a foul smell. Don't. Do it. A friend of mine reached out to me who lives in another states and told me she stayed there 2 weeks prior and had the worst experience of her life and was having an anxiety attack anytime she had to go back to the hotel it was so bad and overwhelming that she had called my old roommate crying. It wreaked of pot which I could care less about, but needles were found on the balcony. NOT COOL. This place is gross, I ended up letting them have my $275 for the night and left at 9 pm to stay elsewhere. I could care less about the money at that point. We decided to book this as a spontaneous Staycation type of thing. The hallways and entrance-way to the room smelled like pee. I mean, every single hallway/corridor, the entire stay. The elevator fits like, four people, tops. There is only one entrance/exit to the rooms, so the lobby can get pretty crowded with people. And the walls are super-thin, so you get to hear the ruckus of every drunken tourist coming out of the bars at 3 AM across the street, along with the horrible music and yelling of the other hotel patrons. We had the pleasure of hearing some douche-canoe banging on someone's door repeatedly at 3 AM like he was the police, and the people below us blasting their horrible mixtape of what they call "music" for god knows how long. SMH The layout of the room is pretty good, and the view is enough to almost make up for all the ridiculous antics of the others. The price is decent considering you are right on the beach. The fact that you can still keep your car there until 1:30 after checkout was nice because we could enjoy some more time on the beach before we left. First of all you are sitting at the pool and you have ghetto guests who are staying at this hotel throw ice cubes and potato chip bags at the people in the pool from the balcony . The TV in the living room fell off the wall. The remote for the TV in the bedroom did not work. My family of five hat two bath towels in the bathroom, no pillows or blanket for the sofa bed. We asked for the items and was told by the front desk woman (who was NOT helpful) that the lady who does the laundry came in late and is doing laundry now (that was at 10 pm) we then got them brought up to our room late that night by the maintenance guy. We were on the 5th floor and the balcony window was cracked. Furniture on the balcony was dirty too. We will never stay here again! This place looks like a motel! read more

BEWARE! If you want to over pay for nothing but issues, this is the place for you! I wish I would have paid attention to other recent reviews for this place. We have stayed here in the past under the old management with no issues. Website states "newly remodeled" but it should say "currently under construction from hell. Don't count on having a working mini fridge (even after they swap you one), 2 plates, 2 fork, 2 spoons, & 2bowls for 5 people. Would only give us 3 towels at a time & we had to take our dirty ones to the desk to get fresh. Only 1 very slow elevator that ALWAYS had staff in it with dirty mop water or laundry cart or overflowing trash cans. Spoke with "manager" about issues & all we ever got was a shoulder shrug from him. Too many problems to list but the final blow came at check out, between trips up 5 flights of stairs carrying our luggage we walk into our room to find housekeeper MAKING THE BED, not changing the bedclothes for the next person to check in today!!! So be warned that your bed does not have fresh sheets. Clogged drains in every sink, staff walking into room unannounced, disgusting swimming pool with film, 1 ice machine for entire building that was always out of order, not enough parking for number of rooms, huge & dangerous man lift equipment taking up half the parking lot fully extended over pool & people walking, painted the hall to our room while we were there leaving us no choice but to walk on tarp covered in paint to get into our room. I could add so much more. Only 1 staff member even tried to help us out, I believe her name was Katie. Talking to other guests while we were there we learned that we absolutely were not alone with our troubles. The room is in dire need of renovations. chipped paint on walls, the gap under door lets heat and bugs in. Foul-smelling fridge, stained bath towels, cracked bathroom sink. leak under the sink...I could go on and on... My family had a horrible experience. I was told I should've "complained sooner" which I brought up my concerns every day I was there, however, they only had it written 1 time in their book. and the manager told me "why didn't I look for him?" as if I'm supposed to track him down to receive the proper service a customer should get. oh, and 24hr service at the desk is a joke. I have pictures to prove it. I was told by the front desk they "cant call the manager when he's not there, and there is no one on-call" On the way back home we finally spoke to the manager just to have him state to my husband " I don't have 30-40min to talk to you about it. do you want the discount or not?" wow, really great customer and relationship skills. The purpose of staying at a place with a kitchenette was to cook our own food. due to the fridge issues, we were not even able to keep water cold in the fridge. I used my cooler instead. The whole room smelled like fish whenever it was opened even slightly. Reached out to both booking.com as well and still getting the run-around and no compensation. So me and my family stayed here about 2 weeks ago. At first glance the hotel seems great but we had to stay there for a week. The power was constantly going out and they gave people keys to our room not once but TWICE. We asked them about the power and everyday they told us the fire marshals were making them check the breakers. My dad is a firefighter and has dealt with that kind of stuff. They don't have to turn of the same breakers multiple times everyday it's a one day procedure. The only elevator in the hotel was the slowest think I have ever seen. My dad walked by my sister who was waiting for the elevator and decided to take the stairs. He went to the car in the back lot and smoked a cigarette and when he came back he pressed the elevator button to go back up and that is when my sister finally got down. so she waiting for a good 10-15 minutes. The elevators often skip the floor you're on even though you pressed the button. The second day we were there we were all sitting down and someone walked right into our room. So we went to the front desk where they had to reactivate our cards and give the other people a new room. Then about 3 hours later another person walked right in. So again we went down and while we were in the elevator we were talking about it and another guest said the same thing happened to them; therefore we weren't the only ones. They said that when we checked in the checked us in as a no show. So obviously someone is not trained at all. This hotel is not worth your money. 10/10 would NOT recommend. read more

I wish I had looked at the reviews before purchasing this room at this hotel (motel is more like it) My family understood that we are in peak season and every other hotel was significantly higher. My family and I didn't expect caviar and a red carpet upon arrival, we know the whole saying about "You get what you pay for" Sad part is, I don't think we got half of what we paid for at this dump. Parking is HORENDOUS, When we arrived after 10 minutes trying to find a parking spot in which they told me 60 rooms 60 spots. We went to restaurants that we could walk to based of not wanting to leave our vehicle. We walk in to check in and there is a "mob" complaining, already not a good sign. We check in and as we are doing so another unhappy guest said to us and I quote, "Do not stay at this hotel, AC is broke, parking sucks, elevator works half the time, and there is only 1 elevator at that, pool is broken and dirty." My wife looked at the front desk guy and girl and gave them the benefit of the doubt and said awwww that's not good, were not going to have that same problem are we? We were assured that we wouldn't. The head maintenance man walked us up and let us pick the coldest room they could find while they try and fix the AC, he was super fantastic. As far as the staff is concerned I did not have any issue with, we stayed for 2 days and have no complaints with them. We had a room with two beds in a bedroom and a living room with a full kitchen and pull out bed/couch. The room was good but the beach in front of the hotel was out of commission because they were doing something with the sand? Not the hotel's problem but it did dampen the views. My major complaint is that the hotel has one very small elevator and that is the only one. You had to wait forever to get up and down the elevator. We started taking the stairs because it was much faster but we were on the 5th floor. Another complaint was that the staff were not very friendly and they seemed to be worried more about smoking cigarettes outside while customers waited in the lobby. Our room was right by the elevator and you could hear people slamming the door to the stairs all night probably because they were tired of waiting for the elevator. Stayed at this hotel last night should of read reviews before booking but did it anyway. Staff was very rude and harassed me and my guests the entire stay there and threatened to kick us out and call the cops on us for absolutely no reason at all. We were booked on the third floor and apparently there was a hotel party going on directly underneath us that was getting complaints and disturbances from other guests. Not only was this particular room having a large party they were smoking weed inside the room and it could be smelt all throughout the second level. Staff took it upon themselves to discriminate and harass my guests and I blaming it all on us but later on apologizing for the mistake apparently after taking a look at their security cameras. I booked the hotels online which the total came to $450 but later checking my bank statement today realized they charged me an extra $30. The rooms were decent size but very humid and hot. I felt nasty and sticky whenever walking through the door. Definitely kept my shoes or sandals on the entire stay there refused to walk barefoot on the ground it just felt mushy, wet and gross. There are barely in outlets in the hotels good luck trying to find one you'll have to unplug a tv or lamp. The bathroom outlet was coming out the socket I was terrified I was going to get electrocuted doing my hair. The list can just go on and on I definitely wouldn't recommend anyone spending money here. Paint pealing everywhere trim piece on building missing and pool clean only when they feel like it. They had orkin there to spray for bugs but claimed it was normal maintenance. There is stairs and one elevator so when cleaning people are they they have elevator occupied, parking lot small and don't have enough spots for all guest so if you leave you may come back to no parking spot. Wifi DID NOT work and with 4 teenagers, this is NOT good. Room was dirty. 4 towels for 6 guests. No sheets provided for pull out sofa; asked for them-never received; I had to go and get them. Main door would not lock securely. Handle to the balcony door was BROKEN-not safe. No dish soap or towel to do the dishes. Only 3 plates and bowls for 6 guests and only 2 forks and 1 spoon. Fire alarm was covered in paint. Bedroom TV did not work. Half the lights DID NOT work. Fridge was unbalanced and would not keep food cold/frozen. No cups provided at all. Safe was broken. The floors were so dirty, it stained our feet. After first night we left. The other guests were sketchy. DID NOT feel safe AT ALL. The management was rude. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. I booked two rooms last week and the Marjac Suite staff were friendly, professional, and made sure we had a comfortable time. All the rooms facef the beach and boardwalk, guaranteeing a great view at no extra cost. Each room has a kitchenette with a stove and a refrigerator which is great for those who prefer to make their own meals. If that's not your thing, guests are in the middle of the boardwalk which means you have your pick of restaurants and fast food places. You will not find a more professional staff, view, and value on the boardwalk! read more

This place is horrible. The rooms are nasty, the pull out couch is like sleeping on the ground. The rooms come with kitchen nooks & ours was not stocked. We did not have bowls plates or cups like they are supposed to. It very over priced for what there is to offer. Very minimal parking for the amount of rooms they have. They mess up reservations. They called the tow truck on our vehicle because our parking pass fell out of our window then called our room to inform us that the parking pass wasn't showing and they called a tow truck. (Scary kids could have gotten to those things!, awful !) my friend found as many as she could flushed them down the toilet immediately . The pull out couch is extremely uncomfortable !!! Don't expect a good nights sleep if your staying on the couch "bed". The kitchenette area is small and the burners were not properly cleaned. Smelled bad and was not as clean as it should have been . Horrible experience! There were bed bugs and there was raw sewage coming out of the shower! Spoke to the shift supervisor (young girl with long hair) and she said there was nothing they could do and they already had our money and that is all that mattered. We asked to speak to the manager (Matt) and was told he did not have time to speak with us. Please stay somewhere else! read more

We had reservations for Memorial Day Weekend 2016. When we arrived we were told that our reservations had been canceled & they had sold them to someone else. We told them we had not canceled & we had our Confirmation #. There's no way we would have driven 5 hours & had canceled our reservations. They were VERY RUDE! They could have contacted us & told us that they were canceling our reservations & we could have done something else besides turn around & drive 5 hours back home with 2 sad disappointed grandchildren! I was so hurt & upset that I never want to go to Virginia Beach again! read more

They cancel your reservation at wil and will only tell you that they have done this once you arrive. I had an awful experience on Memorial Day Saturday. On the drive from Washington DC, the hotel called me and asked if I wanted to cancel my reservation. I declined and even let them know I was on the way. When we arrived, the hotel claims that we canceled our reservation that morning and they were sold out. After calling the company I made the reservation with and they confirmed that my reservation was active and not cancelled, the hotel proceeded to give out rooms to people who came after I arrived! My mom and children were distraught and the manager was arrogant, extremely rude, and even had the nerve to call my mom drunk. After the cops arrived and told us we would be arrested for trespassing we drove 4.5 hours back home. I have never had an experience like this. Worst experience ever. Not worth the insanity! read more
