The staff at Mark Pi's Express seems less interested in "getting it right" than they do getting it out fast. Orders that are taken correctly and filled correctly are what brings patrons back. The food is standard fare Asian. The big hot woks are throwing sauces, chicken, beef and such up in the air to get it hot, get it out fast. But I've twice had the wrong meat (chicken, not beef) plated only to say, "NOPE". The hot & sour soup is friggin' scalding hot so eating inside means waiting for it to cool - that's okay. Had my first experience here today, super quick, super and super affordable! Big box of rice and sesame chicken and a good sized box of Lo mein for $10, and done literally within 4 minutes! Great food. When you see the Chief of Police walking out with lunch and a fire inspector going into there for lunch it must be good, and it is!! Decent lunch prices, great portions but most important they are extremely fast. Very friendly and open kitchen to watch them cook. parking can be tricky but usually spaces open up pretty quick. read more

I don't know what's going on with these reviews at all; this place is a no-go for anyone even slightly picky about their Chinese food. The dishes are all your standard Americanized fare but are quite obviously comprised of pre frozen, sub par ingredients. Yes I know, this is not "real" Chinese food, but it is REAL good. HA! Anyway, I love the Almond Boneless Chicken here, its deep fried goodness over white rice with brown gravy that I know it simply terrible for every organ in your body. It's delicious. The service at this location has always been good, never a long wait, even when you see a line. Great for a quick lunch! ok one star because i have been coming here for a long time. something has changed. I ordered fried rice with my meal. the girl took out the rice from the steamer and put it in the food container. the cook heated up my chicken and then poured it on top of the rice. never once putting it in the wok ..... fried rice does not come out of a steamer with out going into the wok to finish the meal prep. i asked the lady and she said that is what i ordered... i told her the fried rice is supposed to be fried .. like i have for the last 5 years of coming here. Mark Pi's holds all sorts of OSU nostalgia for me, which is probably the real reason I love it. I miss the Union Mark Pi's, which was always the best. It's definitely fast food Chinese, but it's tasty, cheap, and fast. I love the string bean chicken, or whatever it is that they call it on the menu now. Let me preface this by stating that I only order 1 of 2 different dishes at Mark Pi's. The chicken fried rice or the hot pepper chicken. And both are the bomb! I have not found a better chicken fried rice in Columbus. Every place else is dry and bland. Mark Pi's has egg in it which makes it a bit more flavorful. If I am craving some kick I get the hot pepper chicken. It can be a bit oniony but still makes me sweat when I am finished eating it. I don't expect much from a chain Chinese "fast casual" restaurant but this location didn't even meet that low-bar. I like the Mark Pi's near OSU so I figured this one would be similar. The atmosphere of the restaurant is awkward - florescent lighting, loud TVs, and old furniture for the one other person getting dinner here. We ended up getting it to go. I ordered General Tso's chicken, which was chewy and rubbery and not very spicy. The spring rolls were greasy. The employees were bored and bordering on rude. I must also note that I really like the Mark Pi's on campus, and I remember the one in east Cbus being good when I ate there. What's wrong with this location? Pretty much everything. The chicken is fried up in advance so its never fresh , not once. The other location fries the chicken to order. This location doesn't even offer brown rice or some other menu items the campus one has. This location doesn't even offer a nice combo deal like the others. The staff is not friendly or attentive and when you ask them for fresh chicken they still pull out the old stuff and serve it to you. Their hot and sour soup isn't made right either. Definitely a hole in the wall joint. The owner is super hilarious, she mispronounce the words coke to cock and pepsi to pussy. I worked there for two week and didnt want to be on the news when an inspector comes in and rate it as one of the worst places that have cockroaches. So yes, I ended up quitting. And no I didnt get paid for my work but I ended up finding a place that paid me more. I was part of a team that needed some help, a lady ordered chicken and was given a mixture of chicken and shrimp. One lady ordered brown rice and was given white rice which she paid extra 50 cents for and the lady that took the order did not try to correct the situation, she just said no that is correct. So if you find your eggrolls hard it is because it is precooked and when you order, they recook it for two minutes in the same old grease. There the jiggs up. The owner and I was packing people's food when a couple of cockroaches just crawled on out to the counter, the owner Veronica smashed the cockroaches with her hands, wipe it off on her pants and proceeded to pack. She didnt even go wash her hands. Ever since I saw that, I was totally disgusted and never wanted to eat there again. And yes, I used to be a somewhat regular loyal customer. You just never know what is going on inside a kitchen until you work for them. Good riddance and now i have my piece of mind back. read more

I'm been going here for over 10 years and the last 3 years or so stopped because of the bad service. I order the veg hunan for $5.50 plus I usually get a drink and egg roll to which is extra. The Hunan veggie comes with broccoli, carrots, baby corn, chestnuts, mushrooms and bambo shoots. I always tell them I would like to have it with only broccoli, carrots, and add snow peas. They will continually want to charge me an extra $3 because I am not getting the regular set up. I don't understand why if broccoli and carrots come with it, then why am I getting charge extra. I can see extra for the snow peas, but Im not getting the mushrooms and baby corn, water chestnut, bambo shoot. I'm very disappointed that they wish to over charge me so much. Once they try to charge me for the veggie delight with hunan, I said I'm not getting veggie delight which is also more. We argued for five minutes and then I pointed to their sign that clearly states veggie with your choice of sauce for $5.50. She still would not believe me and I told her then you need to change your sign. I stopped going there for like a year and just the other day decide to stop because my friend and I want your food. We left with out food and ate some where else and sadly I will no longer go there. It's embarrassing the way they treat their customers. I've been eating here for over ten years. Its always treated me well and always been the best I had for quick and good chinese food.

I have been going to this location for 10 years. Always got the PRINCESS beef and meat egg rolls. Tonight the girl behind the counter mistook my order for EMPRESS beef; a horrible sweet and sour variety (I suppose easy to do if English is not your first language). When I got home I called but they would do nothing about it so I'm never going back. Also influencing my decision is that the quality of the egg rolls has gone way down over the years. I use to really like this place then they started to precook their chicken and keep it in a warmer. Once they had the warmer I got sick from their food. Won't go back now. They are constantly opening the warmer so I doubt it really keeps a consistent temp. read more
