There was a $9 plus "group" charge for our family's order! We had just 5 people. And although the menu said each item came with a protein, each of us got an extra $1 charge. Over $73.96 for basic burritos/bowls. Just go to Chipotle. Chicken has little flavor making entire items on the bland side. No music or atmosphere. One table inside. read more

I was craving a burrito and did not want your usual chipotle and I remembered late nights on high street ordering big mamas burritos when they used to be inside of a bar and it was oh so good so I decided to give them shot. I assumed they were still on high street but I was willing to drive a little further to try them out again. We pulled up and there was an empty parking lot where the storefront was located next to a beer and wine store. I liked at the menu and decided to get a big mama burrito but was not sure what meat to get so I asked to sample the pork barbacoa, and the guy grunted at me. I was a little taken back by that but it was very good so I decided on that as my protein. My friend got the steak and bacon burrito. At the last minute I decided to get a drink but he told me the drinks were in the cooler which was mostly canned pop for $2.75! We went next door and got some drinks way cheaper. I looked at my receipt trying to see the price difference if I made it a combo but realized my $9 burrito and friends $6 burrito was actually $20 due to being charged for the meat selection which I was thrilled with since the menu items said to choose ur meat option along w the burrito. Nothing on the menu said it would cost extra for the meat. For that reason and the customer service I will definitely be venturing to other places. My breakfast burrito was ready so fast I didn't even have time to take photos of the inside of the place which has a couple small long tables and stools. The two ladies working were very very sweet and personable and got my food in less than 5 minutes after quickly walking me through the menu since I answered that I'd never been in before. This pains me to say but should be expected given a 5 minute food turnaround....the burrito was bad. It was large, yes, but a couple seconds on a big press to heat it up to melt the cheese (which was unmelted shredded) and eggs and potatoes would've probably turned this into a great mix of flavors. Yet the cold shredded potatoes dominated this breakfast burrito which was- along w a not store made chocolate brownie and bottle of water- just over $11 and thus it was difficult to eat. I have ordered delivery from this place many of times. Today however, I walked in to order. I was greeted by the lovely MyQuaijla! What a blessing it was to walk into such a smiling, beautiful face! I had the dog in the car so I needed to make an order quickly. I wasn't sure of what protein I wanted so I asked her favorites. I let her know that I had the dog in the car and she quickly showed me that the owners loved dogs so I brought my little Dexter in, and she quickly greeted him with the treats! Walked in at 1 on a Sunday and it was totally dead. I had to ask if I could place an order and was told I could not. I would have to wait for the 1 order ahead of me to be finished just to place an order. Since the atmosphere wasn't great I did not feel like waiting inside for 30 minutes. Stopped by this week before Christmas as I was in the area and had been wanting to try them for a while. Always see on DoorDash and chicken out bc I was unsure. Finally stopped in. Pros - big portions, great flavor, the ability to get a burrito, bowl, and a baby burrito. FYI - I swear the baby burrito was the same size as Chipotle. Cons - menu board was small, and up way too high to read. Items in the kitchen are in restaurant cookers so don't expect a Chipotle/Subway experience. It didn't seem you could customize the burrito. I ordered the Baby Burrito Buffalo Chicken. It was amazing and bold In flavor a stocked w chicken. Partner ordered the Big Mamma Grande Burrito. The food was delicious! I tried a Choripollo and the pork chorizo and queso gives it just the right amount of kick to it! The service was quick and everyone working was smiling and very kind. The inside of the store looks amazing! There are bright and colorful flying burritos everywhere which stand out even more over a black backdrop. My boyfriend had been talking about Big Mama's for awhile (he went to OU) so I've finally gotten to try it a couple times now! The store front itself is not impressive by any means and if you didn't know any better, you'd think it looks a bit dumpy. I'm sure you've been told to never judge a book by its cover and that's definitely the case at Mama's! I got the Mama Club with chicken. And let me tell you, it's yummyyyy. It's the perfect mix of ingredients and I love the chipotle mayo. I believe their most popular one is the Chipotle Ranch Mama which I have also tried a bite of and was good too. The first time we went, I got the baby. We were also going over to Local Cantina for margs and I knew I would end up munching on chips so I didn't want to go for the big one. Last time, I decided to go all out and get the regular. It's big but totally do-able and I wasn't left uncomfortably stuffed afterwards. Just be careful though, these things will fall apart on you if you don't hold it just right! Both times, we ate at the store since we were killing time while the pup was at the groomers. It's certainly nothing exciting but they do have a few spots to sit and enjoy your food and now that it's warmer out (or at least it should be) they have some patio tables outside too. Most people seem to just order for take-out though. I just found out they opened one in German Village with more seating and beer on draft, so we will definitely have to give that one a try soon! My burrito, which had "steak," and a slew of other toppings, had a vague taste of tomato and false-promises. I think people go into this expecting a chipotle alternative but that's not what it is, it's good for what it is but definitely overpriced. I got the steak and bacon with my friend (we added rice) and it was super big and pretty good, but both of ours were actually missing our guacamole (which we asked to add). It wasn't wrapped correctly either (one barely wrapped at all) but both of us actually didn't really care (that's just our opinions) but we still know that's not right. Every bite we took it had a huge amount of meat so I don't understand why people said there wasn't a lot of meat? If anything I wish there were more vegetables!!! We also asked for no salsa and that was on our stuff 2 but at the end we liked it anyways. I think they need a better system when it comes to making the food as it seems they do it by the recipe and don't really listening much when u ask to add or sub from it... and omg make it cheaper!!! Was sadly disappointed. Ordered 2 burritos on a Friday night for pick up and after about 40 minutes they still weren't ready when I got there to grab them. Ingredients were cold and bland. We had to minor additions to each burrito that I'm guessing were just simply overlooked because they didn't make their way on to our food. The only saving grace was the chips and queso. Chips were packaged in an individual bag that was perfect size for 2 people, and the queso was very tasty. I think a major look into how the individual ingredients are seasoned and made to be kept hot would go a long way, but until then I won't be back or recommending to anyone. read more

Wow, I should have listened to all of the bad reviews because they are exactly right! Even though the courteous responses from the restaurant say the problems no longer exist, my experience was just as bad. How does the addition of hot meat not at least mildly warm the rest of the ingredients? Why was the rice crunchy - was it undercooked or had it sat for too long? Why was the flavor so bland? A bag of food service tortilla chips? At first I thought maybe Big Mamma's just hadn't kept up with people's current expectations about taquerias/burritos, but soon realized that people have always expected warm, flavorful, properly-made food. The kicker was the large "curbside pick up" sign in the window stating that you call in your order and it will be brought out to your car. Step 5) Drive to Grandview Heights and scope out said delicious food. Step 6) Find Big Mamma's, stroll up, and confidently order two Chicken Chipotle Ranch Mamma's (no onion for her, no tomato for you). Step 7) Lovingly place said burritos in the cooler bag you brought with you bc you're an expert. Expert at what? I don't know, just shush and move to step 8. Step 8) Surprise your roommate with delicious Tex-Mex burrito, and watch her get emotional while she is reunited with her one true Tex-Mex love. Not at all impressed with this place. We were excited to try it because they have vegan chorizo as an option, but we were very underwhelmed. The burritos were labeled incorrectly so my vegan husband took a bite of my burrito which had cheese and sour cream. The rice was under cooked and rock hard, and there was no guacamole to be found. I ordered a chicken and chorizo burrito, chips and queso, guacamole and a blondie. The burrito is so greasy, it's inedible. I frequently use and love chorizo, this was greasy overkill. Half of my chips were crushed. The queso container busted open and was all over everything in the bag. The guacamole is not good. And they completely forgot the blondie. Update: 3 yrs later, the store is just plain dirty, last time we wanted to eat in....couldnt find a clean table, had to use the restroom...couldn't use that, it was worse than a rest stop. There were 3-4 employees on the clock, but not working and the place smelled like weed. If the owner is reading this, might want to clean this up or you will soon be out of business. Forgot to mention the food, chicken ranch burrito with extra ranch....terribly dry, and hardly any ranch at all. NOT GOOD OLD REVIEW: Chicken Ranch burrito and the Big Mac burrito were great. I shamelessly ate here 3 times in 1 week. Need lunch? Need dinner? Need a snack? You need Mama's. We stumbled upon Mama's one day searching for lunch and our lives haven't been the same since. First off, they're fast so you've got time to come here for lunch and grab a ritto to go. Secondly, they're affordable, so you can budget this goodness into your life. Thirdly, it's a lot of food, so you can leave here knowing you have made a great economical decision and you may have some leftovers for later. Also, you know how leftover pizza is even better the morning after? I hear Mama's is too...but I wouldn't know, mine doesn't survive that long. Fourthly! The flavors are all so good, so your tastebuds and belly will thank you and basically, that allows me to conclude that going to Mama's will most likely enhance your quality of life. My favorite is the Mama Club with Pork. I can't elaborate too much or I'll get hungry but there's a sauce on it, plus the pork flavor that is mmm-mmm good. All of the meats there are well seasoned so I don't think you can go wrong. I've tried the BBQ Mama too and it was quite a load of BBQ, but again another awesome combo. I've got to try the others...if I can just pull myself away from the club....mmmmm.... Oh also, there's a smaller size burrito for less $ and you can get a bowl if you're like not into the burrito shell. Big Mamma's is a staple to door-dash, so I've had a couple more opportunities to try them out, and this time there was no dismal mess, no overly onion'ed to hell and back burritos. I order the philly, and it meets my expectations each time. Is it a conventional burrito? NO, but strangely enough, it's on it's own level. The only thing I have to remove a star for is that they've messed up part of my order, or left ingredients out on my partner's burrito. No Sombrero cheese = No bueno. You make-a me sad, Big Mamma!
