Purchased a watch here that failed five days out of warranty. Told unequivocally that I was s__t out of luck then charged hundreds to have the timepiece shipped back to Switzerland for repair -- a repair that took three months and failed after two weeks. DO NOT USE THIS JEWELER Sorry I could not give Mark Pratico Jewelers a minus star. Many years ago, circa 1986, I had an experience with this guy. I got engaged and my fiancee picked out the diamond, wanted me to pick out the band. I went to Mark Pratico on a Monday to pick our the band. Was told the ring would be ready on Wednesday, after your work stop by. I did. He was still working on the ring. I said well?? He told me he was very busy, and to come back next Monday. I said NO! I want my ring now. The band is a plain gold band. It was not straight--was slightly bent. I looked at it and said what the hell!! He said he was busy again. This guy is the worst jeweler I have ever seen.He said OK, drop it off on Friday, after work and pick it up on Monday after work. Oh, and make sure to take it to get appraised for insurance before you drop it off. I just got engaged--you could not have pried this ring off my cold dead hands!!! I got 4 messages on my home answering machine to remind me to drop the ring off on Friday, after work. I DID NOT! On Monday, I drove thru the shopping center he was in at that time, Plainsboro. I was going to the grocery store there. I slammed on my brakes and looked at the Mark Pratico Jewelry store--IT WAS EMPTY. Nothing but an empty store. OUT OF BUSINESS! I would have lost my ring and all the money my fiancee paid for it. Nice guy!! I think it was a scam. I have had the ring appraised and was told the stone was an excellent quality. 100% DO NOT do business with this Jeweler. I had dropped off a watch mid February to get an estimate on repair. After numerous times of contacting the Jeweler and running into him outside of his business, he constantly gave us the runaround about the watch. He was also very snotty to a family member of mine who lives locally and also inquired about the watch. After stopping there a second time I had changed the name on the ticket that he had given me from my mothers (because she brought it there) to mine and added my phone number. He made a comment directed towards me about getting my phone number in a flirty way. I did not appreciate it but I overlooked it. I then called him on April 28th to follow up on my watch because the phone call I made on the Saturday prior was not returned. This is where it really gets interesting. I very calmly asked for my watch to be returned to me because I was over getting the runaround from this man. He then started making excuses that he had to get off the phone because he had to go to the bathroom! I told him that it was unacceptable customer service he then told me that his wife was having a panic attack! Really?!?! I have not been treated so poorly by a business in my entire life. He then told me that he was going to look for the watch in the back because I hadn't didn't given him a chance to do so (which he did in person when I was there a couple of weeks prior). He then told me he was going to put me on hold and then he hung up the phone. I've tried to call back and nobody is answering. I'm fearful I will never get this watch back and it was a vintage piece that was worth some money. Avoid this business at all costs. read more

THE BEST OF THE BEST. I stopped in because I was tired of buying junk at Zales and I was blown away by the selection at Mark Pratico. It is a family run business that the family actually runs and that is part of the charm. I bought a few valentines day gifts for my wife and ended up staying for 20 minutes just to talk. I have to warn you, if you walk into this shop you will end up buying something. I had the bracelet I bought appraised as I always do with jewelry for insurance and it appraised for 35% more then I paid. I will be buying all of my future jewelry here. Mark Pratico's Jewelry is amazing. He, and his wife spent 3 hours with us picking out and sizing our engagement ring and wedding bands. My fiance's mother got her wedding/engagement ring from Mark, 30 years ago, when his shop was at a different location. We looked him up and decided to go back and check out his shop. From the moment we pulled into the parking lot we felt welcomed to his store. Mark happened to be outside and noticed us pull in. We were sitting in the car for a couple minutes talking and waiting for my fiance's mother to arrive. We noticed Mark walking over to us and he asked if we needed help. We explained that we were there to buy/look at rings. At this point the entire process felt like a breeze. Mark was welcoming and there was no pressure to buy and we were treated with kindness and respect. We even learned a bit about diamonds in the process. I don't know much about rings, jewelry, or diamonds but the prices seemed reasonable. He mapped our diamond right in front of us. Everything was done in front of us and there was no sketchy "let me take this to the back" nonsense. The diamond is a family heirloom and had a lot of sentimental value so we had a lot of concern about a jeweler swapping the diamond with CZ. We had read horror stories about some other shops and were a bit anxious to bring the diamond to someone. I also noticed that during our time there were a lot of customers came him and he knew them by name. This to me suggests repeat and satisfied customers. This is a family run jeweler and his wife and daughter were both working in the shop when we were there. We ended up buying rings from them and I will update the review in a couple weeks when we pick up our rings. read more

It's very upsetting that I had to even give 1 star because it should be zero. I am truly shocked at the events that have occurred over the past several weeks. I had my wedding set , cleaned and resized there. I went to pick them up the Wednesday before Mother's Day . Mark told me that he was swamped with Mother's Day coming up and I would have to come back the following week. The store was completely empty but I believed him as I have done business with him for many years and I had no reason not to believe him. I tried to go several times but the store was closed during business hours. Last Thursday I went there and upon my arrival he was pacing in the parking lot. He told me that he couldn't let me in because the road in front of the store was blocked and if there was a robbery the cops couldn't get there so they wouldn't allow him to open . I found that odd for 3 reasons. 1. There was a police car with lights on literally sitting about 200 feet from his store monitoring the work zone 2. If there was a robbery it would have happened whether I was in there or not because the door is always locked 3. I called the Hamilton PD and asked if it was true . They said absolutely not. So now I come back the next day . It's 30 minutes before his closing time he let me in but then after making photocopies of my tickets and license he tells me he should have been out of there much earlier because his daughter was graduating the next day and he was taking his wife and daughter out to dinner. Coincidentally when my family went to our local restaurant that we frequent every Friday night I ran into him there . He said I was stalking him. He was eating alone at a bar table . Obviously taking his wife and daughter out was a lie to get rid of me. Today I went there after calling the police . He refused to let me in the store , took my tickets and made me wait in my car for almost an hour. I was NOT leaving without them. I was reluctant to leave and go to the police station as they told me to because he had those tickets behind a locked door. Finally as the cops were called he managed to produce my rings. One thing I would like to point out on this extremely negative post is this. Like I said, I have been doing business with him and his wife for decades as my parents did before me. His wife , Marie is very nice and on top of things. Unfortunately she has not been there on any of these occasions and I am certain if she was this would not have happened. Worst customer service experience ever! Ordered a piece through their store on Black Friday that they assured me would be delivered well before Christmas. Even wrote "Guaranteed delivery" on my receipt. The item never arrived and I found out in late January that they never placed the order because it wasn't big enough. I would NEVER return to this store. read more
