Went in for an afternoon visit today. Arrived early, filled out some paperwork, the usual routine. The staff at the front desk were friendly and businesslike. I did have a bit of a wait for the dentist, but once in, everyone went out of their way to apologize to me. This I appreciated. Dr. Johnson came in, introduced himself and immediately made me feel at ease. He comes off as genuine and he seemed both interested in taking care of my mouth and hearing from me about any issues. I gave him some x-rays I'd taken at another spot, but since they were copies, he couldn't make much sense of them. Rather than do a million x-rays, he explained he only needed two. Having completed that, he confirmed I had a few cavities, but discovered what he thought might be a cavity wasn't. One less filling. I'll be back next week for the fillings and hopefully will receive the same treatment and have positive things to report. But so far, I'm pleased with what I've found here and glad that it's a family practice. Oh, and despite being a family practice, this place isn't at all antiquated insofar as equipment; it seems very up-to-date.

My wife finally asked them to see how much longer it would be as my apt , by the way my very 1st apt trying to go there off a referral recommendation was scheduled at 10:40am and here we are at 11:15 never even acknowledged . Then a lady most likely the office manager said yeah sorry there is a delay it's going to be another 20 maybe 30 minutes before we may get called in Although there were several patients that got there after us that were pulled in , so not sure what the problem is but what a waste of time We won't be going back there, to not even be acknowledged until 40 minutes after our appt was probably the worst professional customer service I have ever had and it's really unfortunate as I am in a lot of pain. If you are a new patient and your in pain I would not recommend going there as you will not even be acknowledged even when they are overstaffed in the office there was over 4 ladies sitting upfront and not 1 had the decency to inform us . Usually you would thing around the 15 minute mark you would be acknowledged For sure by the 20 minute mark after a past due appt time then to go into the 45 minute mark and finally asking about how much longer it will be to have another lady with 0 care for patients time and 0 empathy about the fact you schedule us in at 10 :40 and then don't even say anything is incredible rude and totally unacceptable as a place that is suppose to care about a patient and thier health and feelings ! We were very happy with each phase of our first day with this company. They set us up with their 1st available appointment that was over a month out, but put us on a call earlier list if there is a cancellation. This was great for us, because as retirees we could be available at a days notice. Both of us got calls to come in earlier than our scheduled appointments. Front desk staff were very efficient at processing Maggie & I as 1st time patients. The dental team makes the 1st appointment 2hrs long to do a very thorough exam. They want your input to get your level of involvement in the dental care process. The equipment they have is top of the industry standard. It gives the patient a good view of dental issues, allowing a more knowledgeable choice by patient & Dentist. We never felt pressured to additional care that wasn't truly required at the present time. We were given a break down priority list of items needed & told they would work with us on payment steps based on the priority list. Even given discounts on how payments can be made. I see them on Monday for 1st step in fixing some of my issues. We highly recommend this Dental Care Family

This review is a long time coming. My dentist retired in 2018 and I went to Byron Wall because one…read moreof his specialties was TMJ. I had 5 abfractions, where a small piece of the tooth has broken loose due to clenching. Wall was going to fill the abfractions, but also wanted to grind my teeth to fix the clenching. I was told, "I just do a very minimal grinding, about the width of a hair, and it can make a huge difference, this allows the jaw to relax, and then you won't clench and cause more abfractions. " I agreed to only have the abfractions filled, and to wait on the grinding, but I was told that I would have to sign a release that if they did not do the grinding, then the fillings might fall out, and they would not be responsible. The fillings were horrible, big globs of material that were very rough and jagged. There was no way to floss as it would get tangled in the jagged filling material. And because of the grinding he did, now I was scrapping my teeth on one side of my mouth. I returned several times, and each time he said that more griding was needed. He tried to sand down the excess material on the fillings, but this was impossible to get smooth. Neither process worked. I had difficulty getting through to Byron Wall, he is very busy, and it is difficult to get him to listen. The clenching was worse, now I had pain radiating to my eye and head. When I chew on the right side, my teeth scrape tother on the left side. Then I was told, "Sometimes it takes up to a year of grinding to get things to be right." I spent $2,411 with Byron Wall. Now I had to find a TMJ specialist to fix the new problem created by Wall where I scrape on one side when I eat. And to fix the horrible fillings he put in. I asked for a refund. Byron Wall refused. In a letter he said that he had recommended crowns and that I had refused. Crowns for what? Crowns were never discusssed. He said he performed all that I had asked him to do. I left Byron Wall and became extra cautious. I met with these dentists: Alicia Abeyta, Greg Sanchez, David Willoughby, Wayne Luco, and Robert Supple. Everyone of these dentists said the fillings done by Wall would all have to be removed and redone. They could not understand why he would put such big globs on my teeth-- Willoughby said that one of the globs was like a cave--a place for a cavity to start. Robert Supple said that he can fix the clenching and hopefully the chewing problem created by Wall. He said that grinding the teeth before getting the jaw aligned and stable is backwards. I said that one of the reasons I went to Byron Wall is that he was named Dentist of the Year. One of these five dentists said, "Unfortunately people put value to that when a dentist can pay to be dentist of the year." It has taken a very long time to recover from the work of Byron Wall. I would have given zero stars if that were available. David Willoughby removed and re-filled all of the five fillings done by Wall. Willoughby said the standard is, "smooth as glass" and that's what Willoughby did. Robert Supple was fabulous had helped me tremendously with the clenching and scrapping one one side created by Wall.

Everyone in this office is kind, professional, and always puts you at ease with whatever you're having done. Their office hours are very accommodating, with early morning and evening appointments available if you need them. I've seen them several times over the last couple of years for everything from cleanings, to cavities, and more. Then, yesterday, August 7, 2020, I tripped over a small gate in our backyard, landing face first on our concrete walkway, damaging several front teeth in the process. I called their emergency number, and Dr. Babilonia answered right away. She asked me to text her a picture of my teeth, and upon seeing the picture, decided I needed to be seen by an endodontist, as the injury was more severe than she could care for in her office. Luckily, her husband, Dr. Hochberg, is an endodontist with a practice located near Montgomery and Pennsylvania. Agreeing that immediate treatment was crucial, she and her husband met us (I was in no shape to drive so my boyfriend took me) at his office within 45 minutes. Let me repeat that, just so it's perfectly clear. Dr. Babilonia and her husband came in on a Friday night, in the middle of a pandemic, to help me. Now you may think, well, that's their job, and sure, I wouldn't disagree with you, but they could easily have said, you know what, given the extent of the injury to your teeth and mouth, it's probably better if you go to the ER. That would not have been an unreasonable call to make. But they didn't. They gave up their Friday night to help me instead. Throughout the whole experience they were both calm, calming (I was a little freaked out), consultative, and clearly concerned about my physical, and emotional well-being. I'm going to leave a separate review on the page for Dr. Hochberg's business (Endodontic Associates of Albuquerque) as well, but I want to make sure I say how impressed I have always been with Dr. Babilonia, her staff, and her practice. Last night's emergency just solidified what I already suspected. These are good people, doing a good job, and taking care of their community. If you're looking for a dentist, you can't go wrong with Smiles That Work.

After many years of going to Sandi for her patient-centered policies, she has "gone corporate." Since expanding her practice, Sandi now forces patients into wholly unnecessary profit-oriented processes, explaining it away by claiming "liability" concerns for herself. In the past she was warm and friendly. Wow did she turn cold when I questioned her dramatic reversal of her own health care beliefs and commitments. In fact, I checked with the ADA and her assertions about "mandatory" procedures are simply wrong. But she would rather make the money than stand by her own commitments that I trusted. In fact, I sat in her waiting area and listened to her literally pitch one of her new dental procedures to another patient. (A pitch that had the feel of needing to justify the high cost of an expensive equipment purchase.) Based on how happy I was with her approach, I had referred several people to her. I am now embarrassed to have so enthusiastically recommended her and withdraw my endorsement.

A 2nd opinion was requested, which nobody has followed up on with me. I told them I need 31 crowned because that is the one hurting me. 3rd appointment They were going to crown 30, not 31, they have no nitrous available, I waited nearly and hour to see a dentsit. They did the prep work for the crown and then the dentist came in and said he couldn't do a crown or he wasn't sure if he could, and I should see an endontist to figure that out. It was already hurting me, so I said go ahead and pull it. Again, no nitrous in the office at all. He yanked on my face for at least an hour, and said I'd have to go to an oral surgeon to finish the job. The battery kept running out on his headlamp, they didn't have the tools to finish the job, and there seemed to be other equipment lacking. The dentist said he'd pay for whatever my insurance didn't cover at the oral surgeon, so that was decent. He made the appointment, and I went there the next day. It took the oral surgeon about 3 minutes to get the roots out. I had to suffer through another round of novocane shots in the same spots as the day before. As far as the office is concerned, there seems to be communication problems with regard to appointments and they seem to be overbooking patients. I will be looking for a new dentist again. Sigh.
