    Dr.Mark

Dr.Mark and Alondra his assistant are amazing. My daughter has had a teeth cleaning anf filling done and she has had both positive experiences. Dr. Mark is extremely patient and also his staff are great with children, which was a huge thing for me. Also he was transparent about everything that my daughter had to get done, and gave us options with using anesthesia. This was extremely helpful and reassured me this was going to be my families long term dentist!!! Thank you for all you do, we really appreciate it.

Dr. Peng and Dr. Areepong are both meticulous and very detailed when it comes to their craft. Their attention to detail really puts you at ease and trust that they will go the extra mile to transform your smile. What I truly appreciated through this journey was the knowledge of Dr. Areepong explaining in detail how my teeth will align with every visit. I can't forget mention how incredible their staff are by making every appointment easy and seamless. When entering the office you are greeted by Daniel's smile. Hats off to Daniel for making scheduling, reminders, answering questions a piece of cake. Lastly, I just want to thank everyone on the team for giving me the smile I have always wanted. I would highly recommend Dr. Peng and Dr. Areepong to everyone looking to transform their smile.

I was not comfortable agreeing to the braces without knowing the price/my costs. I attempted to call her office back later for pricing, but her office did not have her or her son call me back. In addition, she strongly preferred my son to use products such as Invisalign instead of traditional braces. I ended up going to another Orthodontist who gave me prices the same day and who is on Faculty at USC's Dental School. Some of her staff are very nice and some are okay.

Choosing orthodontic treatment for your child is never a small or simple decision for a parent…read more The treatment can take a long time, and there are so many things to worry about. Will my child be in pain? Will she feel scared during the process? Which orthodontist can I truly trust with my child? Before starting Elena's orthodontic treatment, I had many concerns and carefully considered all of my options. After giving it a great deal of thought, I chose Steve S. Lee, MS, DDS, and now I can say with complete confidence that choosing Dr. Lee was one of the best decisions I could have made for my daughter. From our very first consultation, Dr. Lee never rushed us or overwhelmed us with complicated medical terminology. He carefully explained Elena's current dental condition, why orthodontic treatment was needed, and how the entire treatment process would proceed, step by step. He explained everything thoroughly so that I could fully understand as a parent, while also speaking directly to Elena in a gentle and child-friendly way so that she would not feel frightened or overwhelmed. That was one of the first things that truly impressed me. Even adults can feel nervous sitting in a dental chair, so I can only imagine how intimidating it may feel for a child. The sounds of the dental equipment, unfamiliar tools, and having something placed inside the mouth can all be uncomfortable and frightening. However, Dr. Lee never rushed through the appointment. Before doing anything, he calmly explained to Elena what he was about to do. He would gently tell her what was happening and reassure her throughout the entire process. He repeatedly asked her, "Are you doing okay?" "Does anything hurt?" "Are you uncomfortable?" "If anything bothers you, please let me know." Throughout the treatment, he continuously checked on Elena and carefully watched her reactions. Whenever she looked even slightly uncomfortable, he paused and made sure she was okay before continuing. It was clear that he was not only focused on placing the orthodontic appliances correctly. He was also taking care of my child's emotions and making sure she felt safe. As a parent, those are the moments that bring the greatest sense of relief. Dr. Lee did not treat Elena as simply another patient in the chair. He treated her as a child who might feel nervous, scared, or uncertain, and he showed genuine patience and respect toward her feelings. His kindness never felt routine or superficial. He took the time to make sure Elena understood what was happening. He patiently waited for her when she needed a moment, answered every question, and explained things again whenever necessary. He also listened carefully to my concerns as a parent and never dismissed any of my questions. His explanations regarding the treatment were extremely detailed and clear. He kept us informed about Elena's current progress and what to expect in the future. Because of his careful communication, many of the worries and uncertainties I had before beginning treatment slowly disappeared. Most importantly, watching the calm and caring way he interacted with Elena gave me complete confidence that we had found the right doctor to guide us through this long journey. Orthodontic treatment is not something that is completed in one or two visits. It is a long process that requires trust and cooperation between the child, the parents, and the doctor. Because of that, I believe a doctor's character and communication are just as important as professional skill. Dr. Lee truly has both. Elena was able to stay calm and cooperate throughout her treatment because he continually reassured her and carefully checked whether she was experiencing any discomfort. As I watched him notice even the smallest changes in her facial expression, I quietly felt grateful over and over again. I kept thinking, "We truly found a wonderful doctor." "I made the right choice for my daughter." For any parent who is wondering where to begin their child's orthodontic treatment, I sincerely recommend Steve S. Lee, MS, DDS. He is warm and gentle with children, clear and thorough with parents, and genuinely attentive throughout every part of the treatment process. We feel incredibly fortunate to have found a doctor who does not only care for a child's teeth, but also cares for the child's heart and emotional comfort. We still have a long way to go in Elena's orthodontic journey, but I feel completely comfortable moving forward because I trust Dr. Lee. Thank you, Dr. Lee, for always speaking kindly to Elena, for carefully checking whether she is in pain or uncomfortable, and for easing the worries of a concerned mother. Out of all the decisions I had to make regarding Elena's orthodontic care, choosing Dr. Lee was truly one of the best decisions I made. I am deeply grateful, and I wholeheartedly recommend him to every parent searching for a kind, trustworthy, and exceptional orthodontist for their child.

I was a patient at this practice for several years before relocating out of California in 2021…read more After recently moving back, I returned because I had previously had positive experiences here, particularly with Dr. Zak, who was always professional. Unfortunately, my recent experience was very different and led me to find another dentist. I returned with a specific concern about an area on my gum that I wanted evaluated. I called ahead, explained why I was coming in, and arrived prepared for treatment. Once brought back, the visit immediately moved into their standard diagnostic process, including regular X-rays, 3D imaging and photographs, before I had really discussed the concern that brought me in. I asked why the X-rays were being done. This was not a refusal. I was simply asking what we were doing and why. The question seemed to catch the staff member off guard. When the doctor (Dr Abu) came over, much of his explanation centered on the fact that I had not been to their office since 2021. This convo was also in an open space. I completely understand that. I completed the entire diagnostic process, including the X-rays, 3D imaging and photographs. I was never questioning the clinical need. My concern was the approach. There is a difference between explaining how updated imaging will help evaluate a patient's oral health and repeatedly emphasizing how long it has been since that patient was last there. I had relocated out of state and only recently returned to California. More importantly, providers do not always know why someone has experienced a gap in care. People relocate, lose insurance, experience financial hardship, or go through circumstances a provider knows nothing about. Repeatedly focusing on that gap can come across as judgment/presumption rather than clinical explanation. I tried to explain this distinction directly to the doctor at the end. I made clear that I understood why the workup was necessary and was not questioning his clinical competency. I was giving feedback about the communication and patient experience. Even then, he continued returning to the fact that I had not been there since 2021 defensively. That point was not being heard. By the end, I was presented with more than $600 in recommended services after insurance. I had the money and had gone there prepared to begin treatment that day. I declined because I was no longer comfortable continuing care with that doctor. This was not about being unwilling or unable to pay. It was about the experience. I later sent the practice written feedback and received no response. I have since established care with another dentist. My takeaway is that this practice operates through a highly standardized process. That may work well for patients who prefer a polished, modern, corporate-style dental office. The office is "friendly" in a performative sense, but my experience did not feel warm or individualized. If you have one immediate concern and want it evaluated first, with a conversation about what is necessary before moving into a larger workup or treatment plan, I would ask very specific questions when scheduling. Based on my experience, their standard comprehensive process appears to take priority over tailoring the initial visit around the concern that brought the patient in. There is nothing inherently wrong with a standardized process. The issue is when it leaves little room for curiosity about the person moving through it. Patients can understand that their teeth need work and why imaging is necessary while still deserving clear explanations, sensitivity, privacy and participation in their care without feeling judged. I returned because I had previously trusted this practice. I arrived prepared to spend more than $600 on treatment and ultimately chose to spend that money elsewhere. For me, that decision came down to the patient experience, not the treatment recommendation. I also did not appreciate discussing my concern with Dr Abu in an open X-ray area near the hallway and front desk. It felt unnecessarily impersonal too.
