Recently, one of my implant teeth became swollen, and they were able to schedule me right away--even offering a same-day appointment before they closed. Based on the owner's response, I must emphasize that the core issue is the lack of informed consent. If I had been told that the decay was extremely deep and that a filling could likely lead to nerve damage or root canal treatment, I would have chosen a different approach. This tooth had never caused any pain prior to treatment. Without being fully informed of the risks, I was not given a fair opportunity to make an appropriate decision. As a result, I have now lost a previously healthy, asymptomatic tooth and suffered both physically and emotionally. I haven't written a Yelp review in ages--I'm not usually the type. But I had to share my amazing experience with Dr. Lee and his team. I just finished getting a dental implant and I'm still in disbelief--it took less than 15 minutes! Years ago, I had an implant done somewhere else and I remember it being painful and taking forever. Last year, I tried again but the process was so complicated (I was told to drive to another city just to get a CT scan), I didn't bother following through--I'm too busy running a medical spa. Then someone referred me to Dr. Lee--and wow. They have everything in-house: CT scanner, high-tech equipment, and all the latest tools. No running around, no delays. I've never waited more than 5 minutes here. The front office girl is so kind and efficient--she texts and calls to follow up, which I really appreciate. But back to the implant--it honestly took less than 15 minutes, and the best part? Zero pain. I don't totally understand the "Computer Guided Surgery" they used, but right after the procedure I told Dr. Lee, "I think you just did magic!" I got my crown three years ago at a dental office in la puente. Ever since, my crown didn't feel too good. My crown was sore most of the time. So then I had checkups at two other different dental offices. They did the x ray, they prescribed rinse, antibiotics and etc. But still, they told me that the crown was perfect, so I was kinda gave up in the end. The soreness is bearable, so I was kinda assuring myself that maybe psychologically I didn't like the crown, and that caused the soreness. Until one day, I knew Joseph through my work. It was just a random chat with Joseph, and he said, you know what, Sky! Just come and I would check the crown for you, don't worry about the money, I will help you. To be honest, I cried when he said that. So I went to his office and Joseph took x ray on my crown, and also he was holding a tiny camera in my mouth taking pictures. Surprisingly, he found a tiny hole under my crown. He told me that the crown wasn't placed correctly despite the fact that the surface of the crown was perfect. Immediately, all of my concerns come to an answer, I cried in tears. I was upset and happy at the same time because I realized all those years, I was living with this stupid crown. I immediately scheduled an appointment with Joseph. Merely two days ago, Joseph just removed my old crown and fixed the cavity that was under the crown. I have no pain now and feeling so grateful that I met Joseph in my life. He was the only dentist that really listens to me and takes good care of my teeth. I was having very bad tooth pain under one of my upper crowns. So I called Diamond Creek Dental and was thankfully able to book an appointment the very next morning. Arrived the next day, singed in, and was called in promptly. My dental assistant, Rosie, was very kind and accommodating. I got to turn the TV to The Office which was also on the ceiling during my procedure. I was already feeling much more at ease :) So Dr. Joseph Lee came in shortly after I settled in, and began his diagnosis. He said that there may be one of two outcomes. One was that my crown needed to be shaved down because my bite / constant grind and wear may be what caused the tooth ache, and two was that I may possibly have a root canal issue, for which I'd have to see root canal specialist which would of course be much more costly. So he recommended that he shave down the crown to adjust my bite and see if the discomfort subsided in the next three days. I liked that option! Well, after he was done, biting did not hurt anymore which was amazing. But of course, I still had an achy tooth / nerve. So I will now wait and see if it gets better. But overall, I am so happy that I found Dr. Joseph Lee. He is honest and friendly, and seems to offer the best possible solution that is in the best interest of his patients. I'm truly impressed and I'm so glad they are located in my neighborhood. My husband and I will most definitely be coming back in the future if needed! Thank you to Dr. Lee and his wonderful staff! ** UPDATE ** Unfortunately, my tooth pain persisted, so I called their office and Dr. Lee asked me to come in right away. He said my pain was due to a deeper root canal issue so he referred me to a root canal specialist because he felt they would be able to take care of my problem more confidently and effectively than he could. And I REALLY appreciate Dr. Lee's honesty and referral because as a patient, I want to ensure that whatever procedure I get done, gets done right! Dr. is an attentive and caring doctor. You can tell he genuinely cares about his patients. He took the time to answer my questions and also explained in detail the reasons for my concerns. He ensured all of my questions were addressed. He also is very honest and does not try to upsell you on work not needed. I've been to dentists that aren't ethical in that sense and try to sell you unnecessary work so they can charge you for it. I trust his recommendations and care fully. First of all, I would have contacted you first as an emergency case if patient/clinician relationship was built and trust was formed for a consistent period of time. As a patient, why would I contact you again while an error happened at my first visit, and it's inconvenient to the both sides? Isn't the first impression the foundation of professional trust? I remembered clearly, when I was at Loma Linda U., the professor told the student when the student was performing my filling under the professor's supervision, exactly the same tooth, saying "a small uncomfort/strange feelings will magnify in patient's mouth." Secondly, I was thinking about re-rating your practice to a higher rate because you already messaged me privately, and your staff contacted me with being willing to refund the cost, including not to bill the insurance. I was impressed for doing an honest practice and you showed that you are humble to listen to a patient. Yet, you got defensive and changed your mind, then say it's a full blast on social media? Let's re-rate and give the two stars back to your staff. I've been here twice and both times have been really pleasant. I had just switched dental plans and found that this office was in network, so I gave it a shot. Booking was easy, just a phone call and you're set. They also text you to confirm your appointment a few days before, so that's a plus. This office has high reviews for a reason! The office staff and the doctor are all very knowledgeable and patient. They are also super efficient - I was done getting X-rays in less than 5 minutes. And as someone who has always had a hard time with that, I'm surprised how quick it was. (Props to the amazing tech!) After getting my X-rays, the doctor joined in and reviewed the scans for any cavities, issues, etc. It's a fairly short time with the doctor, but I didn't feel like I was missing any information. He is thorough with his review and makes sure to listen to questions/concerns. Since I went for a cleaning, I was helped by the dental hygienist. She's amazing! She's super bubbly and easy to talk to. The cleaning went smooth, no pain or discomfort. There's also a tv on the ceiling, so I was able to distract myself with some dramas! I think Dr. Lee is amazing. I had a crown replaced a few days ago and I have no soreness, no pain and can chew normally on that side. I clearly remember being in discomfort and not being able to really chew properly the first time I had this crown put in by another dentist. Recently, my dad went to see Dr. Lee to have some work done and he had nothing but great things to say about him. I haven't gone out of my way to put a Yelp review for years now but Dr. Lee left me with no choice. My mother is in town from out of the country with no insurance in the USA so that's a real scare in and of itself. We recently went to a dentist in Irvine for an evaluation and was told her roots were cracked and required an implant. The quote was generous with discounts for Laguna Beach/Irvine rate (only $1,000 more than a typical implant around $2,500). After days of headaches for myself and a week of mouth-ache for my mom, I thought to search locally for a dentist for better rates or do the extraction to buy time. I reached out to Diamond Creek Dental after having tried several others not finding availability and the fees were quite high. To my surprise, the communication was very straightforward and quoted price were each job was very fair! I went ahead and booked for next morning appointment. Fast forward, we met Dr. Lee and his team. They were courteous and caring. After reviewing the x-rays and poking around, Dr. Lee explained to me there were no cracked roots! Went further to explain what the reason for her pain and also made adjustment to her crown to alleviate the problem. He was skeptical of the first diagnosis and referred me to another specialist that is honest and fair. This experience shown me that Dr. Lee: 1. is knowledgeable and full of integrity. 2. is sincere and wants the best for his new and old patients. 3. did not look to benefit financially from a made up diagnosis and recommended the best route. Alright.... two and a half years later, 5 cleanings and a scheduled filling in a month, this place has run the gauntlet and gets the 5 stars in my book. What I missed in my first experience, the attention to detail and quantitative analysis of how bad my teeth are, has been compensated by the troves of pictures he accumulates from each visit. It has been neat to see the progression in decline in some areas of my oral health, but also areas where improvements have been made. The quality of the pictures he takes, coupled with his breakdown of pictures from one visit to another, are enough to paint a picture of how things are going in the teeth and gum department. The man and his team work hard, and they are good at what they do. I have not had a negative zero experience at his office which, considering it's a dentist's office, is actually a positive thing when viewed over an almost three year time span. I've been having pain in my mouth for the past few days where I couldn't sleep. My wife still had to push me to go see a dentist. First time here being new to the area. Accepted new patients and insurance so scheduling was a breeze. I was not used to see that there were no rooms (closed doors), but it still felt very private and didn't bother me. Loved how they used a hand held Gun for X-rays, much easier in collecting images. Dr Lee and his staff were all very patient, precise and got the job done very well! My husband (new patient too) needed to see a dentist the week after, so they were able to squeeze him in the same day we called because of an emergency. Although Dr Lee had to refer him to another dentist to review his case, he acted quickly and prescribed some antibiotics for him in the meantime.
