My car is now running smoothly with no more oil leaks! Ben also helped me fix an issue with the driver's side rotor and brake pads. He showed me that the caliper bolts were larger than the manufacturer's specifications, causing them to grind against the rotor and pads. I brought my vehicle to Hal's for an oil change and 30k/50k-mile maintenance recommendations. I…read morewill say that my first experience here about a year ago for an oil change was positive, and I left feeling like I had found a shop I could trust. At that time, my oil change was approximately $60. During this visit, the same oil change was nearly $100, which caught my attention and prompted me to take a closer look at the estimate. Unfortunately, what I found only raised more concerns. When I reviewed the maintenance estimate, I noticed several items that didn't seem right. The first was brake cleaning listed multiple times throughout the estimate, including places where it didn't appear to make sense. When I asked about it, my service advisor, Chris, acknowledged that several of the charges should not have been there and removed them. Next was a transfer case fluid service that included fluid priced at approximately $185 per liter. After researching the fluid myself and finding it available online for around $45 per liter, I questioned the charge. I was then told the wrong fluid had been listed. The price was subsequently reduced to approximately $85 per liter, which was certainly better than $185 but still appeared quite high compared to retail pricing. The reason, I'm only buying one, it's not like I have 300 in stock. The estimate also included a coolant flush and fuel injector cleaning--both expensive services that are not recommended by the manufacturer until much later in the maintenance schedule. When I pointed this out, it was acknowledged that these services were not yet due. At that point, it became difficult to view these recommendations as anything other than unnecessary upsells. Adding to my concerns, during one of our follow-up conversations I was told that spark plugs also needed to be replaced. This recommendation, which potentially legitimate, seemed to appear only after I had already questioned several other items on the estimate. By that point, it felt as though additional services kept getting added rather than confidence being built in the original recommendations. I also asked if there was any room to adjust the labor charges for the front and rear differential services, as they appeared significantly higher than comparable estimates I had obtained elsewhere. Chris responded that he didn't "just have discounts to throw around," yet ultimately offered a $50 discount. The contradiction, combined with the tone of the conversation, left me feeling as though asking reasonable questions about pricing was being viewed negatively rather than as part of being an informed customer. What was most disappointing was the overall interaction. After raising several legitimate questions about incorrect or unnecessary charges, I felt like I was being treated as though I was the problem rather than a customer trying to understand and verify the work being recommended. If I had not reviewed the estimate carefully, I could have easily authorized services that were either incorrectly quoted or not yet needed. I ultimately approved only the oil change and declined the remaining services. I was also surprised to learn that the shop's labor rate is $240 per hour, and after comparing estimates with another highly rated local shop, I found significant differences in both pricing and recommended work. I understand that mistakes can happen, and I don't mind paying for quality work. What I do expect is accurate estimates, recommendations that align with the manufacturer's maintenance schedule, and respectful treatment when asking questions, not irritation. Unfortunately, this experience left me with concerns about transparency and trust. The repeated corrections to the estimate only happened because I questioned the charges, and that is not the level of confidence I want to have in a repair shop. What ultimately solidified my decision not to return was the pickup experience. After multiple discussions regarding incorrect charges, unnecessary recommendations, and estimate revisions, there was no acknowledgment of the mistakes, no apology for the confusion, and no effort to rebuild trust. The interaction felt rushed and dismissive. I was simply handed my paperwork, told the total, and sent on my way. Customer service matters just as much as technical expertise, and unfortunately this experience fell short on both fronts. I appreciated the positive experience I had during my first visit, which is why this experience was so disappointing. Unfortunately, based on this visit, I will be taking my business elsewhere moving forward.

I have been taking my 68 Camaro to LS Pros because they advertise Classic Car repairs and they have…read moredone a stellar job. Recently, I began to have a problem with my 2018 GMC Denali. The steering wheel has a vibration at about 50 MPH and it feel like your hitting the rumble strips. I contacted GMC Elk Grove where I bought it and spoke to "Cristian" the service rep and explained the problem. He said the transmission just needed to be flushed out and a special transmission oil is put in to alleviate the problem. My truck is out of the 5 year 50,000 warranty, but the truck has only 28,000 miles on it and is in new condition and is regularly serviced at 5000 miles at this dealership. He could only offer a, "I can just let GMC know and they decide if they'll honor the repair, without a charge". I had researched and found this is a known problem by GMC however, not enough complaints for a recall. As I explained I am a loyal customer that bought the vehicle from their Elk Grove Dealership, the condition and low miles on my truck, but still offered no relief not even a let me talk to my manager to see what we can do. I asked him why should I continue being a loyal customer if there is nothing in return from them. Of course no response. I told him I would not be bringing my truck back for anything in the future. Cristian could care less and didn't even try to save my business. I contacted LS Pros and spoke to Bill and met with Dan the owner. As soon as I told him about the problem they said they have done several repairs on this very issue and that they even had a flier posted in the shop depicting this exact problem. He told me that there was actually a fix for this as opposed to just flushing out the transmission and putting in a special transmission oil. I took it in and sure enough the fliers were posted in the office. This shop receives all GM product bulletins and they have both been past employees of GM and they really know their stuff. I received the truck back the next day and I noticed the fix right away. I have found LS Pros to be honest , fair and in most cases cheaper than the dealerships. So, no more Elk Grove Dealership for me. I have made arrangements to have my truck serviced and repaired at LS Pros from here to Eternity! Great job guys! Your integrity is appreciated!

They didn't have prices listed, so I asked the office receptionist (didn't smile, very unfriendly) for the price of a conventional oil change on my 2009 Civic VP (which only takes 4.0 quarts). When she quoted me $70.00, I immediately left. That's way too high for a standard oil change. Definitely not taking any of my cars here ever.
