I hope it's not true that this property got permission to take down live oaks to improve its view. I'm not doubting the yelper who mentioned it, it's just that we have had some experience on clearing waterfront property, and these trees were staunchly protected. As they should be. We only removed non native invasive species. Anyway, the restaurant has potential as it has a lot of outdoor waterfront real estate with nice river views and decks. The interior is underwhelming. An attempt to make it a Caribbean type eatery, sorely misses the mark. There is nothing charming, authentic or endearing here. Service was fine but the food was some of the worst we have had during a restaurant experience. This kitchen should hire someone who actually has not only some serious cooking ability but a discernible palate. Nothing had flavor. Nor was anything properly executed. The fried shrimp and fish bites were over battered and over cooked. The smoked chicken wings were tasteless. No smoke, no salt, no nothing. The salad looked nicely chopped but no one bothered to coddle the ingredients. A squeeze of lime and some salt would have awakened the cold avocado and tomato chunks. The cocktail sauce for the shrimp, the dips for the wings and the dressings for the salad all fell flat. The club sandwich and the Cuban was a disgrace. The turkey and ham looked indistinguishable, clearly showcasing the quality of products they use. The bread was hard and stale for the Cuban and no nicely toasted bread was evident for the club. Thank you, incompetent spineless supine protoplasmic members of staff at Marker 244 for allowing me and my party of 4 to wait patiently for 45 minutes for a table. Thank you again for allowing us to be seated at the table by the door for another 15 minutes before anyone came to the table to get our drink order-with the excuse of "the hostess didn't tell us she seated you" Thank you a third time for then informing us, after that 60 minute wait, that it would be an additional 45 minutes to get any food out to us. Why? Oh because there are more people than expected on the porch and we have a lot of takeout orders..... oh word? Say y'all are busy on a Saturday? How odd. I bet no other restaurant has that issue. I bet there is no way you could have warned us that your back of house was as incompetent as your servers. So 60 minutes of my night is wasted and then when we paid for the 1 coke which wasn't comped, the waitress wandered off and didn't reappear with the change for the $2.50 owed. So keep it, please, and spend it well. Maybe buy some classes at a professional restaurant in an effort to figure out how to run a place. I had heard the view was impressive and the location was great, but kitchen management and bartender were below par. I wanted to form my own opinion and it turns out the rumors are true. This place may survive for awhile based on recruit grad tourists but locals should shy away. The kitchen manager is a pompous ass and the bartender literally said she couldn't keep up and she had four tables (with servers) and 3 single tops at the bar. The servers have a great attitude and want the place to succeed but sadly the management I met and spoke with will ensure this is another failure which is too bad because they do have a great location. For the past two weeks we have tried to eat at this restaurant. We came there at 4pm on Friday March 5.. we were advised we could only order drinks. I called last night, knowing we would be coming off our boat and would be there for early dinner. Would they be open? I was advised last Friday they ran out of food. We checked today Sat.
