I like it most of the people in the store are really customer service orientated they really want to reach out and help you. I've always had very good luck with the fresh deli services as well as all the meals they make they make it easy cause sometimes they marked them down and I take salad and stuff to work in my nursing job and they still taste really fresh after two days. After being spoiled by the Publix experience for several years, I had a hard time adjusting to the hustle and bustle of a busy store full of New Englanders. It took a couple of trips to learn the layout and find my staples. The low prices made it worth every trip! Great sales on hard seltzer variety packs and Downeast cider. Market Basket may not offer BOGO deals but many items were 2/$4 or 2/$6 -including gluten free foods. read more

Why can't we have a Market Basket with a huge ass parking lot like this closer to my neck of the woods? Seriously, it's like this parking lot was specially designed for introverts. See, they have this one section on the side of the building, complete with a marked pedestrian crossing leading right up to the entrance. Meaning....perfect expedited departure route for said introverts. If I can escape a crowded grocery store in mere seconds, they automatically get all the stars. All jokes aside though, the rest of the store is as you'd expect. Selections may vary and all that, but....one interesting thing I noticed; whilst there's no fresh butcher counter, there is a fresh seafood counter. Not to worry though. The packaged meats are still Grade A quality. So, while I wouldn't personally go out of my way just to visit this particular location, I'm here to tell the locals that it's doing the Market Basket reputation justice. This place has the worst produce department I have experienced in my life. I have had enough of seeing employees bruising the fruits and vegetables by throwing them onto the shelf. They also do not rotate the stock increasing chances of buying product that will spoil within a day or two. They have ruined my last meal plan. The food kitchen court is fantastic. If you can get there at the right time obviously not lunch or dinner time because it's so busy but other than that. The food quality is boring steak and cheese is better than 90% of some shops in and around the area and the price 799 compared to 15. It's sub shops now is beyond affordable grilled chicken wrap. They cook the grilled chicken as you eat, you can do your shopping and pick it up. You can do Collins. Market Basket has a gold mine. Just keep your price as low. Overheard a terribly racist conversation between a customer and the man at the pizza stand. Included sentences such as "those colored kids are coming to our country... etc" while I understand an employee can't control what guests say, this man was completely engaged in the conversation and agreeing adding "they come to our country and take our resources back to where they come from" ... mind you, this is referring to "colored kids" hurts me to even reiterate for this review. They felt safe having this conversation because I am white myself however that is far from okay in my book. I'm sure they would have been more hush hush if a person of color was near. I called the manager who seemed unconcerned, no apology for his staff or follow up if it was handled. 2 stars because sushi staff is fantastic, always have great sushi and are polite. After reviewing a couple of other Market Baskets, I want to mention my favorite, even though it's too far for me to shop there often. The store in Londonderry has everything: lots of space, plenty of parking, and a well-run Market's Kitchen with inside seating. Market Basket stores come in a range of sizes, and each one has its own management and style. The largest ones, like this, are usually the best. It may take a little longer to get from one end of the store to the other, but the aisles are rarely overcrowded. While you're there, you can order a sandwich or a quick dinner and eat it in the store. Make sure to park in a visible area. My car was once intentionally scratched while I was parked there. The store can't do a lot about outside vandalism, unfortunately. read more

Since the pandemic this location In Londonderry has gone way down hill. The prices of things from the cafe have jumped considerably. So haven't many of the staples. The beef is so tough we can't even chew it. Forget the pizzas from the cafe, I mean really forget them. They are under cooked, under sauced, and not worth the toppings. I used to get a bacon topped pizza and it had bacon on it, today I got one and it had a few bacon bits on it, it was dry and floppy with almost zero sauce. When I get my produce home I find much of it rotten and hidden from the eye. The baggers don't even put our frozen things in the cold bag we bring in for that purpose. I am so disappointed. The other night I ordered a half cheese and half BBQ chicken pizza with onions, my friend who got the half cheese side of the pizza felt normal after eating and about 30 to an hour after eating I felt crappy, my stomach hurt, I kept vomiting and I had to use the bathroom repeatedly. The next day I call Market Basket to speak to a manager about the situation and he told me he would go investigate and kept telling me the chicken comes in cooked and pretty much told me the chicken wasn't the reason. Even though chick does go bad. I haven't heard anything yet from the manager. I was hoping for a better response when I talked to him on the phone or at least an apology about the pizza but nothing. Does this store even know how to track inventory? It is only January 15 and for the 5th time this month I have had to drive down to the Salem stores (pick one....they ALL had what I wanted in stock) to get the items I went shopping for. The Londonderry MB is ALWAYS out of stock of particular items. Do they not think to themselves....hmmm this item seems to sell....maybe we should stock more of that and less of this item that is gathering dust. Nope. They just overstock the shelves with items that don't sell so their shelves look filled. As far as Winston cigarettes go don't even expect to purchase a carton at this store. They are always out. Wouldn't even let me purchase the special priced carton although Salem stores do. If that's the case then perhaps you should have the regular priced cartons in stock! The Londonderry store is supposed service the local community however they do not have a clue as to handle the inventory for the shoppers needs. This store is horribly managed. I'm not the only one to feel this way too. Saw a friend shopping there this weekend. She usually shops in Epping but had an appointment in Londonderry. I am very pleased with Market Basket for their selection and quality of food. Market Basket brand All Natural chickens are raised and processed in the USA. Recently the USDA has approved that chickens can be raised in China, shipped back to the USA and be labeled as product of the USA. Market Basket does not do this and the label on their chicken products even state that their chickens are grown here in the USA. Big kudos to Market Basket for keeping our food local. Another Market Basket product I like are their dairy products. Again, Market Basket upholds their standards of quality by ensuring to only use dairy from farmers who raise dairy cows free of rBGH (synthetic hormones). Also, I prefer the Market Basket brand toothbrushes, they are made in the USA (most major brands of toothbrushes are imported) and the Market Basket brand is good quality. If you want to make conscientious consumer choices and want locally sourced foods & products from the USA, then Market Basket is a good place to shop. read more

Growing up my mother shopped at MB for everyday groceries and would only of to Hannafords or Shaws to buy select sale items when they were a good deal. Granted, Market Basket was always kinda dingy looking and didn't offer as much as the other two mentioned, but overall, you can save money and still get good products. A lot of the Market Baskets are getting updated, like the Londonderry one was. Gone are the small aisles and way outdated look. Granted, it still has the same look but being newer, nicer, bigger and offering more has done great things for this store. I, like my mother, only go to the other grocery stores if it's more convenient to grab something quick or there is a great sale item. The Londonderry store is very nice, I have never really had a customer service or a product/price problem since I've been shopping there. Occasionally you get a bagger that is elderly and takes a little longer and will pack them a little lighter but you can't really hate them for that. It definetly is on the busier side, but most Market Baskets are. Thankfully, the store is big enough that regular busy isn't that bad it's just holiday/storm is coming/etc busy that sucks. Prices are good. I wish that they would double coupons one day per week. The baggers here are not good. They pack chicken and veggies in the same bag, pile bananas on top of tomatoes and slide a pie in the bag sideways. You have to keep a very close eye on the baggers to make sure that your food gets home safely. (I'm not that picky, they are that bad.) If you have an issue, Market Basket has no website or email address to contact them. Your only choice is to call the store or go in. If you try to tell the manager anything (like that the baggers suck) they look at you like you are crazy and pretty much blow you off. The new Market Basket is nice but it has drawn in a lot of people from out of town and out of state so it is pretty busy in there. You have to keep an eye on some of the produce - especially the strawberries - they get fuzzy and don't seem to be checked much. At the old Market Basket, I got fish with worms in it. There is a good variety of stuff and as I said, the prices are right. They say that if you ask a manager they will try to get a product in. I have asked for 3 things and never had any luck. (Organic Cow milk, Olive hummus - they have a million choices but not olive - and a Dole juice that my family loves) Overall, the thing that keeps me going back is the prices.. read more

I shop at Market Basket because it's so much cheaper than the other area stores. (Walmart, Hannaford and Shaw's are the main competitors). I agree with other reviewers that the store is outdated, the aisles are narrow, and the place is usually packed. They staff with high school kids who are learning to deal with customers for the first time, and they're not always great at it. But I happen to think their produce is excellent, and saving 20% is nothing to sneeze at. There are some things you can't find at MB -- I run into Shaw's or Hannaford for those -- but for our main shopping, we go to MB. BTW the new Market Basket in Epping is clean and spacious. Market Basket is a family owned business that is growing through this COVID-19 pandemic! I love to shop here after my part time shifts in the produce department. The sushi is freshly made daily and is delicious and goes on sale all the time! The produce department has to be hands down the cleanest department, friendliest environment, and has like every vegetable and exotic fruit you can imagine! Today during one of the craziest 2020 winter storms Market Basket departments showed up for you! We bring the quality products at the cheapest price possible for our communities. Okay, and this is the best we do it with a SMILE! We have masks on yes but you see those lines by our eyes and leave with a basket full of yummy stuff for your families and friends during the holidays. I find that this Market Basket is very clean and the prices are very affordable and the customer service always friendly and willing to help. But when I called this morning, to make a request, I was surprised to be given the run around. I asked if they could run chicken breast through the cuber for me (think cube steak). They told me they could not because of cross contamination. So I asked, but you do clean the unit right, so what's the big deal? Matt went silent and repeated to me that it was a cross contamination issue. If the cubing machine is properly broken down, de-greased and properly sanitized there is no concern for this at all. I know, I use to work at a meat department for many years and we would welcome any request even if it meant having to clean the machine several times a day to accommodate "special orders". Shaws in Derry performs this request with a smile and I have watched the gentlemen clean and machine before and after and it's never been an issue.... read more

I wish I could give 0 stars!!! I HATE Market Basket - not just this one, I hate them all!!!! They are so dingy and outdated!! Everyone goes there because you can save $0.14 on your total bill - so the store is always so overcrowded! You can't just run in to get one or two things because it will take too long. You need to plan a good 45 minutes to an hour for a "quick" shop. Reason being it will take you at least 5 minutes to get down each isle you want. As it will be full of people with overfilled baskets and 3 or 4 kids hanging off the cart or throwing things in the isle. If you forget something in an isle you previously survived passing through - forget it!! Don't go back it's just not worth it!! Once you finish your shopping it will take another eon to check out and people unpack their mountain-like carts!! When you complain to a Market Basket supporter, you discover they are blinded by the tiny savings!! Well it's Market Basket, all the new ones are the same, this review is simply for the Market Cafe. Can someone who works there and is reading this please make sure there is someone at the counter of the Cafe after 5 p.m? I come in 3 to 4 times a week and there is never anyone there and I stand like a dummy at the counter waiting for coffee. Other stores often have two people working the counter, this one has a ghost, as well as the Cafe workers here are just plain rude. I don't know if this is the Island of Misfit Toys, where MB sends the most miserable people to work, but the service and lack of a physical person at the Cafe counter has led me to just go to Hannaford's instead. read more

Yeah, it's crowded dingy (until they move to a new space in the former Sears), but the checkouts always move fast, they restock continually, the staff all know where to find stuff, the selection's great, the produce is very good, and they've got a lot of choices. Worst customer service ever! Lobsters are currently very inexpensive and MB offers to cook them free of charge - great! Except they won't take any info over the phone (answered by the way by a very rude, curt person). Bad customer service experience #1 So I drive down to get 6 cooked lobsters for a family dinner since my son will be leaving for college the next day. Young guy takes my order - no mistaking the order - its written clearly on the tag. He is clueless, as is the older woman who could clearly care less. Bad customer service experience #2. Entire meal is prepared, I take the lobsters out of the bag and there are 4 lobsters not 6. Bad customer service experience #3. Ruined dinner. Try calling continuously - can't get through the phone is busy. Bad customer service experience #4. What happened to 3 strikes and you're out?! A new low. MB prices might be cheaper, but the people working there are absolutely clueless. Manager needs to get a serious handle on how customers are being treated.
