The Kiva is an awesome natural food store. They have a great bulk section. Heaps of fresh organic produce. The staff here is friendly. I absolutely love that they have a smart eclectic selection of books from western to eastern herbs to cookbooks including vegan cookbooks and more. Where The Kiva shines above even Sundance aka my favorite natural food store in Eugene and maybe on the planet is that The Kiva makes made to order sandwiches that are fresh as you can imagine packed with heaps of vegetables. Sundance used to have amazing sandwiches yet this past trip to Eugene found Sundance's sandwiches underwhelming aka the bread was dry and wasn't fresh. Pro tip: Get the stellar salad bar and hot bar at Sundance while getting the made to order sandwich at The Kiva I am deducting one star for there is no place to eat your sandwich at The Kiva for they used to have tables out front to enjoy your sandwich when I last lived in Eugene so you have to take your sandwich to go. Lastly for my sandwich and the drill here is you can make your own sandwich by choosing bread. I chose tempeh hummus and heaps of veggies etc. Sandwich is an A+ Check them out. You won't be disappointed.

    Soooo good!

Yes indeed, this is a wonderful health food market. The market is clean, food clearly labeled and the produce appeared very fresh. Prices are fair, with a great assortment of organics. Came in to find Blue Lotus Chai and was thrilled to find it on the shelf. Parking is available in a lot right next door to the market. I'll be back!

All that white chunky stuff on the cheese and in the middle is HORSERADISH!!!

Our visit ended up being one of the most memorable stops of the whole trip. This neighborhood grocery story store leans into South Asian food, but with all the usual American staples. The food truck is outside, and all done by one chef. That's to say, the food is made fresh and patience is needed. Thankfully, inside that had a great selection of local and international beer so I bought a 6-pack for us to enjoy while we waited. There were also colorful characters enjoying food and drinks outside who talked with us at length. It was really pleasant to be able to wait comfortably. If you're nearby and looking for light groceries or amazing Indian food, it's worth your time to visit!

The staff is so nice and the food was incredible. I got the butter chicken and naan. It was a huge portion, made fresh, and had such good flavor. The chicken was tender, the rice was fluffy, and there was a nice crunchy cucumber, carrot and onion salad that was fresh and tasty. I got it on the mild side of medium, but next time I'll get it a bit spicier. Check out the market while you wait for your food too! A great find in the neighborhood, and I'll be back for sure!

There are at least half the amount of product as previously stocked, and the staff is way less knowledgeable. I loved the previous staff as they were happy to spend time and make quality recommendations regarding the issue that I was experiencing . They truly seemed well informed, and I trusted them with their recommendations. The current staff person I worked with, while friendly, was not knowledgeable, and I did not have confidence in their recommendation. Bakery issue... We ordered a cake for my son's birthday. I…read morehad ordered cakes through them at this location over the years maybe 10 times. They're expensive so I generally save ordering from Market of Choice for a special birthday... not just an average one. It was $60 and it looked BEAUTIFUL. My first indication that it wasn't going to be all that good was the fact that while cutting it after singing happy birthday, the frosting was coming up in chunks, not staying flat on the cake. It was really odd... but the reason it did that was that their butter cream or fondant was thick as can be... in fact, there was much more chunky frosting on the cake than actual CAKE. And the frosting, due to its thickness, was coming away from the cake in slabs. Several of the kids (and my family, too) just ate the cake from the center and left the other half of the piece that was on their plate alone- the "frosting". The KIDS said the frosting was too thick and too sugary. Yes, the kids. Us adults had issues with it, too... and it was in the center, as well, between the 2 layers, which made them separate in a weird way, too. The cake, except for the bottom 1/3 of the lower layer, was ok. The bottom was either overcooked or it was freezer burned from being a frozen layer of cake and used when it was needed... and it was hard and darker (darker yellow that the rest of the white cake layer)... and so it wasn't edible, either. It looked amazing. But the fact that it was supposed to be edible food was problematic. Normally, I'd not say anything but a few of the ones we'd gotten from them over the years had the same frosting issue except that it was the fact that the frosting was SO MUCH of the overall cake, that it was ridiculous what was paid for it... and, again, it was THICK, LIKE A MASSIVE BLANKET molded over the soft layer cake inside. Anyhow... not a good bargain at $60. That will be our last Market of Choice Bakery cake.
