Old Mill Brew pub is one of our favorite places to frequent. The first thing that gets you is the history and construction of the building and now the beautiful views of the pond. I recently went here with my dad for a quick dinner. However, it was going to be an hour wait to get in, and it was not super early in the night. Thankfully, the bar area was open, and being that we are adults, we helped ourselves right there. Our waiters were amazing and were so nice and quick to get our food in and out. The food was so good, and they have GF options, so that makes it even better. I love the atmosphere and the old mill vibe that they have there. Our neighbors raved about this place, so we decided to give it a go when we were craving burgers. I hate to call something mid but it was one of those experiences you forget about quickly. There was a pretty long wait time, the food was kind of meh, the service was slow and ghosted after dropping food. I will say the ambiance was nice, I liked the mill vibe and enjoyed views of the pond. NOTE: we aren't drinkers so that probably explains the underwhelming experience. Worst burger I've ever had. Period. End of story. Same for my wife. Both horrible burgers in appearance and taste. Management was rude about the entire ordeal. Admitted they were in the wrong. They did offer to provide something else for the menu to take home or eat there. We declined. Surprisingly they were going to charge me for the sides that came with our burgers and the tea my wife got. Told them I wouldn't be coming back and that I shouldn't be charged for the half eaten fries and tea. They finally came back and said that there was no charge. Just a bad experience. read more

Old Mill is a Downtown Lexington staple. They have a brewery, a breakfast spot, and many other shops in this little area. They have an outdoor patio which is super dog friendly and sits facing the walking trail. I thought the burger was super yummy, but maybe needed just a little bit more moisture. The staff was all very friendly and was attentive the whole time. We did wait a little over 30 minutes to sit but you can walk the trail while you wait. read more

Great spot in town! We stopped for a quick appetizer before an event and were able to get a quick seat at the bar. Tons of great beers on tap and two TV's playing the games. We got the fried green tomatoes and Buffalo chicken dip. Both were very tasty. However the Buffalo chicken dip was a bit cold in some places like it wasn't heated all the way. Ordered Alpine burger and onion ring side. The burger was supposed to be in a brioche bun, it wasn't. Asked for pepper jack cheese, didn't get it. The onion rings were dry and overdone. The burger was overdone and dry. I'm not sure why I waited 30 minutes for really bad food. The server took the drink order, someone else brought the food. Never came back to offer refills on drink. We've been a couple times while in town. It's OK. The atmosphere is a little better than the food. The crab pretzel dip was extremely salty, next time we would do pretzels without salt. It just made it even more salty! Philly cheesesteak wasn't the best, bun was soggy, and the ingredients were so cut up that you couldn't even tell what you were eating. Almost like they put it in a blender. Prices aren't too bad. Kelly was a good server, little too bubbly tho. Like a cheerleader. I would go again for the atmosphere and a beer maybe. read more

We have eaten at Old Mill several times prior to our visit today. One thing that will never change is the beautiful view. You really can't beat it. The weather was beautiful today so we sat on the back patio and it was awesome. There was space for our kids to play quietly and they even had a large connect board game. The girls really enjoyed that. Our server was very kind and checked on us frequently enough without being overbearing. Unfortunately, our food just wasn't great. We shared the smoked platter and I asked for an extra side which was collard greens. One pro is that this was more than enough food for us to share. Unfortunately, that's about where the positive food review stops. The brisket was OK, but the pepper jack mac & cheese was very dry and didn't have a ton of flavor. The mashed potatoes were also lacking moisture and just weren't that good. I typically love green beans, but unfortunately, I left all of my green beans on the plate today. The flavors were just overcooked and the flavor was off. I'm not sure what they were seasoned with, but they did not taste good in my opinion. Collard greens are one of my favorite vegetables, but these were incredibly bitter with vinegar and were inedible for me. I just did not enjoy the flavor at all. My daughter got the pulled pork sliders from the kids menu. The sauce flavor was overpowering, along with the flavor of smoke in the amount of sauce was just too much for the amount of pulled pork that was on the sandwich. The sweet potato fries that she asked for as a side were very good. My other daughter got the hamburger sliders. They were probably the most successful item that we ordered today. They were a great size for our five-year-old and she enjoyed them. As I walked through the restaurant to get to the restroom, the food on other people's plate looked wonderful. I think that we just didn't order the right meal for us today. We will probably go back, but would probably not order the smoked platter. The next go round. read more

The wait time wasn't bad at all, the pricing is reasonable, and the portion sizes were nice. We go to The Mill nearly weekly. The parking lot is always full, regardless of the time of the day and we never have a long wait. It would be worth the wait. The atmosphere is so friendly and from the hostess to the kitchen, they make you feel like you are their only table. I have yet to order anything that I do not like. The Old Mill Brewpub is a little tucked away aside from a large sign near the entrance, but upon walking in, you find a typically cool brewpub space. The staff was very friendly (even the hostess who apologized for not being at the stand because she was sweeping the entry, keep up the good work) I tried the Voodoo stout (two of them in fact), the loaded fries (ok and typical) creamy collard and bacon dip which is cream cheese based with braised collard greens, bacon, topped with housemade hot sauce. The only thing that could have made it better is if they served hot craklin' pork skins to dip in it......oh wait, they did (this was delicious). For dinner, I chose fish and chips. It was a huge filet of cod and was hot, fresh, and delicious with a side of fries and coleslaw. I look forward to trying it again to explore the beer list and food further, but it is definitely worth a return! read more

I rented the Parlor Room for my husband's surprise birthday party and this place was PERFECT!! The food was delicious and the service was exceptional!! I've been to this restaurant a couple times prior to this most recent visit, with similar results. We got there right around lunch time, but before the crowds arrived. My husband ordered a beer flight and I got a mixed drink. My drink was good, just a bit light on flavor. We ordered our food - he got the fish and chips with an additional side of pepperjack mac and cheese, and I had the Alpine Burger (mushroom and Swiss.) The fries were good, honestly the standout of the whole meal, but my portion was small. The waitress, who was great and very nice, didn't ask about the doneness of my burger, and it didn't really dawn on me until I took a big bite. The patty was well done, and seeing as there is no sauce (garlic aioli/mayo, etc) that comes on this burger the whole thing just ends up very dry. It still had flavor, but an accompanying sauce (and maybe a bit of pink) would really help this kind of burger out. The fish pieces were a bit thinner than we normally see, one being more breading than meat, and for my husband they didn't really meet expectations. Unfortunately, the mac and cheese was also a let down. It wasn't creamy, and lacked flavor despite the ingredients used. It was a really pretty day, so it was very bright and cozy inside. We like going here every so often. The food is good if you stick with the sandwiches and salads and I love the atmosphere. There really went through some tough times, and here they are, still chugging along. I admire that. The owners must be really good business owners and good people. Our experience last night was the best yet. The service was terrific as usual. My husband had the french dip, which he really liked. But the main reason I came here was to praise the southwestern salad I chose. It was quite simply, the best salad of this type I have ever had. And I have had quite a few. I love tex-mex type food. This restaurant has moved up the list of places we will choose from when have our weekly dinner out, even though it's more of a drive than we usually like. read more

Really amazing place. We were on the porch with a great view of the sunset. The food was delicious (I had the BLT with fried green tomatoes and pimento cheese) great beer selection (all drafts were $3 on Wednesdays-- what!!! So cheap. I had a great bourbon barrel beer). The bathrooms were clean and nice and well maintained, and the inside of the restaurant had cool decor and a good vibe. They even had games for kids set up outside on the porch, but the games were kinda noisy so keep that in mind for where you want to be seated. Our server Mark was amazing! Give this dude a bonus!!! Hey food fans! Why only a 3.5 for this pub? We had a delightful lunch at the Old Mill. If I had to choose a theme here it would include friendly staff, historical atmosphere, good food, and great beer selection. We were greeted by a young friendly hostess and seated indoors under the huge copper duct work, a vestige of the building's cotton mill days. Wonderful atmosphere for a cold beer, and a casual lunch. My wife and I were impressed with the draft and bottle/can selection. Lots of choices! Waiting for our food, I had a brew called the Lexington Radler; she opted for an old favorite: Guinness stout. I'm not a hop guy, so the slightly sweet fruity (apricot, guava) Radler beer hit the spot. We didn't order much food, just a Reuben and a spinach salad to share. The Reuben was very good. The marbled rye was fresh, and the corned beef was tasty, and lean, and therefore a bit on the dry side. The sauerkraut was good, but the sandwich may benefit from a tangier brand like Boars head. As for the mac n cheese, it was made with pepper Jack cheese and delivered a nice hotness to the back of the throat. The pasta was not mushy; it was well cooked, but still held up. Our only suggestion would be to use a stronger cheddar cheese. We think it needs more cheddar flavor. The spinach salad--a modest size--was simple but with fresh blueberries, goat cheese and lots of crunchy bacon, it delivered. On the way out we met the owners, and talked a bit about Steeler football. Turns out, they like us were from Pa, ironically from a town that I lived in for several years. I'm craving a good ol fashion burger so the good reviews brought us in. The decor is cool and our food did not disappoint. Well, the She Crab soup I started with was a bit of an overkill with the sherry. Remember to stir as it tops the serving. Don'tdo whati did and take a spoonful without stirring it. Cough cough.. as the manager passed by he immediately asked how we're doing, I had to give my opinion. He kindly offered another cup without the sherry AND it was taken off the bill. I really didn't expect that. I'll take him up on that next time. read more

Old Mill Brew Pub- Lexington I've been a customer here several times over the years and feel as though this particular review is in line with previous experiences. In short there was nothing above average. Not the service, the food nor the atmosphere. We sat on the deck as we had dogs with us. Props for allowing dogs. ( They didn't supply water , we had to go get our bowl. I'm not dissing for this but I do tip heavily for servers who bring water). There's an empty pond to look at and the flies were noticeably present. There was a large fan that supplied a breeze that kept most bugs away until the table behind us complained and the staff turned the fan off. What should have happened was that table be moved so the rest of us didn't suffer. With the fan off the bugs were horrible- to the point I just quit eating. The service was average. The waitress wasn't particularly friendly nor attentive. Once my drink runs dry I'm unhappy. The food was a mix of good & disappointment. Two guests had the lobster ravioli and were not impressed. The sweet potato fries were excellent and the BBQ was unexpectedly delicious. Overall it was average & I'd patronize again if I had dogs with me or someone in my party wanted to go- with one caveat and that would be bug free weather. read more

Brewery, food and atmosphere are all top notch!! They have different rooms and places to eat/drink so it's all around place.

It must have been a bad day for the restaurant! We waited over one hour and thirty minutes to be seated. My hamburger was fairly good. Not much taste. Our waitress needed help! The restaurant smelled musty the carpeting was tattered and appeared to be very dirty next to my table. This was not a good experience. read more
