They have regular sandwiches always available and specials that change everyday. This place is really well-priced. I have never ever received any type of attitude from any employee. They even have some seating available if you don't want to take your food back to the office immediately. I got two (thick!) pancakes, an egg and cheese on sourdough, and a banana for about $6. They have several breakfast platters for $5, including some decent chicken fingers. Welcome to Dong Deli. Despite the ridic logo, the food isn't that bad. The place has a decent lunch special where you get the sandwich/wrap of the day with french fries. The fries here are so amazing. Reminds me a little of burger king fries but crispier. The "normal" sandwiches they have are decent, but the "fancy" entrees are of the same quality as if you were making it at home and didn't have all the right ingredients. The chicken quesadilla was pretty much leftover cubed chicken and the "steak" wrap was just roast beef. I mean it's not bad if I was making dinner at home and didn't feel like buying the right stuff. Overall, the prices are pretty cheap compared to the rest of Ballston and the food is decent. There's a small hot bar there too, but honestly I've never been interested in trying it. Be weary of the "fresh baked" desserts though. Every time I go in there, it looks like the same one from last week. It's just there and it's really convenient to my office. Nothing too exciting to rave about, but nothing negative either. Giving it 3 stars would corrupt my entire ranking system though, so I'll have to go with Meh. Great for what it is; a small deli where you can pick up breakfast or lunch in a jiffy. Market Place serves hot or cold sandwhiches (approx $6). The bread is fresh and the ingredients are healthy. I normally get a veggie delight pita with cheese, lettuce, tomato, cucumber and onion with some choice of dressing (the italian dressing is good). They have two salad bars; hot and cold, and a fresh sliced fruit bar. Market place offers many cold drink options. They even had Boylan Creme Soda which I normally cannot find, even in mainstream stores. They also offer many candy varieties as well as helpful backup supplies (medicine, toiletries etc). I would get food poisoning almost 50% of the time I went there before I stopped. A manager where I work also sent out a company wide email warning about other sickness reported after eating there. Dear owners: is your business doing so well that you can afford to be blatantly rude to customers? (I don't think so; it's always empty when I go in.) I have gone here half a dozen times or so in the last year (it's close to my office) for a breakfast sandwich. The food is not good and the interior is just passable, but it's hard to mess up a breakfast sandwich, and the location is convenient for me. But this morning I went in, ordered a breakfast sandwich, handed him my credit card, and the wonder said, "no, it has to be cash for under $5". (I have ordered the same sandwich in the past, for the same price, and he took my card.) I told him I didn't have any cash. He yelled "stop" to his wife at the grill, who had started the sandwich, and then walked away from me without a word. Not any "I'm sorry, I'm afraid we can't take the card for this amount" or "there is an ATM nearby" -- just wordlessly walking away as I stood there with my card in hand, clearly looking confused. It's not the card versus cash issue -- I understand the economics of it, they get charged for credit card transactions -- it's the egregious, almost contemptuous, rudeness that I found so shocking. I recently came back to Arlington for my job. In the time I was away, we had moved from our other office (and one of my favorite lunch places). I was a little disappointed at first, but then I decided to try Marketplace Cafe one morning. Their breakfast is great! You get it cooked to order, and the product tastes fresh instead of that bland hospital egg flavor. I generally stick with egg and cheese on a bagel, but they have quite a few options to choose from: omelets, homefries, toast, sandwiches. If it is not listed, you can usually ask for it and they will happily oblige. The price is pretty unbeatable as well. Lunch is also pretty good. I take away a few props for the fact that their lettuce choices on the salad bar aren't my type, but the toppings and extras make up for that. They have some unique daily specials that actually taste good, and they cut up fresh fruit daily. As for the people, you couldn't ask for anyone nicer. They greet you when you come in and thank you for your patronage as you leave. The manager is one of the nicest ladies you will meet. And of course, since they serve as a "convenience store" for the next-door hotel, they have plenty of sundries you can pick up to save a store stop on the way home! read more

I work nearby and pass this place every day. The newly and very expanded hot bar is open now for breakfast and lunch along with the usual grill menu and the daily specials. They also have a new smoothie bar. It appears they also have some new food suppliers. They've basically become a full on breakfast/lunch place and dropped the sundries. The service is fast, coffee is always fresh, the employees cheerful, the pricing is decent for the typical local "weigh'n'pay", and the food is good.
