I had a great experience with Eva buying my and my husband's wedding rings and crafting my engagement ring using the stones from my grandma's 3-stone ring. All of our rings are beautifully made, and Eva was so incredibly kind and responsive throughout the process. MSD was also able to provide an appraisal with specs of my grandma's 1950s diamond. In a testament to the quality of customer service, MSD even adjusted my engagement ring setting for me months later after I realized I needed something lower profile as a left-handed person, at no additional cost. Can't recommend enough!

We had a great experience at Market Street Diamonds. Our engagement ring turned out beautifully and the whole experience was smooth. The team at MSD was very responsive to my many questions and requests, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a custom engagement ring.

This review is long overdue, as I worked with MSD back in December of last year. I rarely write any reviews, but this type of purchase warrants an exception. It's going to be lengthy, TLDR at the bottom. When I was preparing to propose to my now fiancée, my family surprised me by showing me an old heirloom diamond that has been in the family for nearly a century. It is an antique cut stone that had a sizable chip around the girdle of the diamond. I scoured through reviews on just about every platform learning as much as I could about cutting/polishing diamonds and visited about a dozen jewelry stores in the DC area. I received a huge variety of prognoses for the stone. Most of the jewelers I spoke to said that I was looking at losing .3 to .6+ carats through cutting. Some folks said that the risk of the stone completely shattering was significant and I should consider looking at setting to hide the damage. Multiple folks even suggested that I have the whole stone recut into the modern round brilliant cut and shave down half of its weight and lose the beauty and uniqueness of the antique cut. Every single jeweler I spoke to up to that point outsourced their cutting to either NYC or California. Quoted timelines were 6-8 weeks and none of my interactions left me with confidence in the quality of work I would be receiving, Then I walked through the door of MSD. I was directed to Dino who looked at the stone and immediately identified the antique cut and sketched out the damage. Market Street Diamonds has an in-house cutter with extensive experience working on antique cut stones. Dino walked me through his process and what he wanted to do with stone. He explained that he wanted to redo the surface of the diamond above the girdle to shave off the chip while maintaining the diameter of the stone and increasing the sparkle and brilliance. He estimated a total of under 20 points (.2 carats) of loss from the cutting and had incredible confidence in his work and his team. Given his confidence, optimistic prognosis, and the quality of the rest of his work, we were excited to move forward with the process. My fiancée had always loved a minimalist solitaire ring and was in love with a design she had seen from another jeweler. Dino agreed to re-create the design. He offered a turnaround time of 5 weeks for the whole project. We were planning to head out of town around December 20th to visit family for Christmas which would cut into that time frame. Dino immediately reassured us that it would be no issue and shortened the timeline to four weeks. The four weeks included Thanksgiving and were in the midst of engagement season. The turnaround time was incredible and was half the time that we would have seen at any other jeweler in the region. We scheduled a follow-up for three weeks later to see the re-cut and polished stone, review the CAD design of the setting and receive a wax model. Three weeks of anticipation later, we walked back into the store. Pre-cut the stone weighed 2.06 carats. Dino was able to remove the chip losing a total of .04 carats. The end weight was 2.02 carats and was visually identical in terms of size. The brilliance and sparkle of the stone was absolutely incredible. We quickly moved forward with the setting and one week later we I walked out with the absolutely perfect ring. I showed my family and they were all stunned by the transformation and quality of the work. A few weeks later I proposed, and my fiancée absolutely loves the ring. It is her most prized possession, and she loves the thought of having over a hundred years of family history on her finger with a family diamond with the same antique cut that my great grandmother wore so many years ago. Market Street Diamonds was not the cheapest option. I paid a premium to have the stone cut in DC by someone with experience in antique cut diamonds and to work with a boutique shop that would provide me personalized service and whose work would be a cut above the rest. I was not disappointed. Market Street Diamonds did what other jewelers in the area said was not possible, and delivered on promises that other jewelers wouldn't even dream of making. We are so excited to be getting married and, despite now living on the other side of the country, will be returning to Market Street Diamonds to design our wedding bands. I cannot recommend Market Street Diamonds enough, they did an amazing job. TLDR: Walked in with a chipped 2.06C antique cut stone that everywhere else said would lose .3 to .6+ carats if repaired. Dino got the job done without shipping stone out and losing only .04 Carats, End Weight 2.02C. 4 Week turnaround for cutting and custom setting during busiest engagement season of the year and over Thanksgiving holiday. Incredible Quality. Will return for Wedding bands despite living 2000+ miles away now.

I had a wonderful experience working with Eva at Market Street Diamonds in August 2023 ahead of my proposal to my girlfriend at the time. When I first came in, I was at a complete loss at how to go about the process. My grandmother had given me her own engagement ring's diamond to clean and reset into a new piece. Eva was extremely patient and helpful in working with me to go over the different options at hand, including the setting, band type, and accessory diamonds. Despite the short timeline I had, Eva was able to help me put together a design that my fiancé ended up LOVING! The quality of the final product is just as impeccable as the customer service.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner (see the left hand)! I also was checking out a diamond necklace set (like a kid in a candy store)!

I am not the type to post any reviews, BUT I always read them before I visit a new place. The best reviews are those that provide helpful information, not those posted out of revenge. What I love about MSD: 1) unlike chains, MSD only carries metal and stones that rank from "middle" to "best"; 2) it is the "go-to" for custom diamond jewelry. Don't bring your "odds and ends" - the true beauty of MSD is for the artwork they create from the stones that they sell (check IG); 3) The customer service that I received from Dino, Rayna and Eva is unrivaled. They weren't "snooty" and don't "pressure" you. MSD made me feel like family- unparalleled kindness, genuineness, & trustworthiness. I was recommended by my receptionist (MSD did her custom engagement ring designed by Dino). Previously, I purchased most of my jewelry from Tiffany & Co. I visited MSD's website (very classy) to ensure their pricing was within my budget. I will pay the quoted price as long as it is the best quality for what I can afford. I visited MSD in December of 2021 - my appointment was at the end of the day near closing time. From the time I entered, I sensed "Nothing but class" - the décor (wall paint, artwork, showcases, stools, etc.), indicated I would be purchasing THE best quality products. In the showroom was Dino, Rayna, Eva, and 2 security guards, all of whom were masked. In the showcase, I saw the "Luna" jewelry (designed by Eva) which was gorgeous and unique. I ordered custom diamond "huggies" and gave her the specs (e.g. size, metal, diamonds). My huggies turned out to be a masterpiece and cannot be found anywhere, including Tiffany & Co. The diamonds shine brilliantly - even my mother commented on how shiny they are! I also got diamond studs. With Dino being the owner, I asked him to explain the differences between MSD's diamonds and those at Tiffany & Co., which he did in great detail. Dino is MSD's creative genius - if you want to buy a special edition Rolex (or other luxury watch), special anniversary custom jewelry that will make others envious, or create an engagement ring that will leave the love of your life speechless, he is the person to see, but be prepared to drop tens of thousands of dollars (totally worth it!). I asked Rayna about single solitaires set in platinum, at least 3 carats (and all the right "Cs"). Rayna is also a designer who spent at least 30 minutes to 1 hour with me. She was so patient and took the time to show me each and every style (different shapes, sizes, styles), and let me try them all. She suggested the perfect ring for me: very classy & elegant style, yet understated. She explained why certain styles would or wouldn't suit me. I appreciated her candor, because as an attorney, I want what I want, but I felt that Rayna truly cared about me - it wasn't about making money. In fact, the ring that I wanted cost $10k more than the one Rayna suggested. I then asked Rayna about a matching band. She explained that the style that I picked was outdated and suggested a more modern style that would complement my solitaire. Once I tried them on together, they were SOLD for $30k! This place is definitely legitimate and safe- their customers are US government, congressmembers, judges, attorneys, and other highly respected professionals. MSD takes all the precautions for COVID: clean displays, bleach wipes, cans of Lysol spray and hand sanitizer. Don't negotiate with MSD- they are a family-owned business and have overhead costs. Their craft is how they put food on their table. Even if you feel that you are spending a lot, trust me, that you are STILL GETTING MORE than what you paid for; even if you don't ask for a discount, you are definitely getting one. If you cannot afford them, go elsewhere. It's classless to wear expensive jewelry that you got by bargaining just to portray that you are rich, when in fact, you are simply living beyond your means. MSD is truly a "touch of class" and isn't for those who are: 1) shopping around (remember, you aren't buying a used car or fruit at a vegetable stand in India; You are buying quality diamonds so please have some class; 2) going to steal their creative ideas by having them do all the hard work and have the rings made elsewhere for cheaper; 3) wanting "the world for free." In this case, just go to a chain that can sell you a prefab ring and return policy. At MSD, you will 1) be treated in a respectful manner; 2) work with an experienced and creative designer who can guarantee that you will receive a unique and flawless product (they have several steps from CAD drawings to molds to prevent any inaccuracies); 3) receive a product that will last a lifetime (they provide complimentary lifetime service of the jewelry and free sizing of rings within 90 days), and; 4) have an amazing experience throughout. I will be a repeat customer of MSD. Next on my list is a Cartier watch which Dino is going to order for me. Tiffany & Co just lost me to MSD!

I have nothing but overwhelmingly positive things to say about Dino and the Market Street Diamonds team. They are warm, friendly, professional, Covid-19 cautious/compliant and truly deliver an amazing customer experience. My fiancé and I had a custom ring designed using stones from both of our families, and it turned out more amazing than I could have hoped. We told Dino which pieces we want to integrate, provided some inspiration images for pieces we liked and then I said "I really love peonies and English garden roses." AND THIS IS WHAT HE CAME UP WITH. I could yell positive things about this design for years. MSD was fully transparent about price and didn't charge a design fee. We ended up with a piece that cost less than a standard "box" store with 1000x more meaning. Highly recommend. 15/10. Only thing I will say is that beautiful art takes time. This process took place over several months. I'm sure they would be willing to work with a more condensed timeline, but why rush perfection?

    Custom made rings!

Just the nicest people around w the best customer service, awesome prices and willingness to listen and create what you want! Do yourself a favor and create something special that you'll have on your finger for a lifetime. You will not be sorry!

A bit of a time addict (you should see me pounce for the metro train one of these days), I came in desperately wanting to get my watch going as not having it functional was cramping my commuting routine. Well prepared to part with it for half the day, I indicated to the man behind the counter my problem and--before I could even ask when it will be ready and for how much--he disappeared in the back. Mouth still open mid a would-be sentence and a bit curious about this approach to customer service, I waited no more than 3.5 minutes. The man re-emerged with my revived watch and charged me ~$12. Mind you, during this time, he was able to serve 3 customers in parallel--me and someone else while addressing questions the other in-store visitor was asking and answering the phone. All this, while looking very casual and not at all rushed (aka, mad skillz). Although I dare hope that the battery lasts a long time, future watch repairs are coming here for sure. This was yet another great experience at Catbird! I came in already knowing the necklace I wanted to get and having an idea of a few rings I wanted to try on. I came on a Friday morning right by opening. Parking in Georgetown is definitely challenging; but you can find free street parking ~0.3-0.7 miles away in the residential areas if you circle around a bit and walk over. There was one employee there when I arrived and she was incredibly attentive, friendly, and helpful! They didn't have the Sylvie Medallion I wanted in stock but given that the necklace has an engraving option, this made sense. I wanted to come in and try it on though to gauge size of the pendant itself as well as figure out which chain length I wanted. The employee who was present totally understood this and produced another necklace pendant that was the same size and measured it with a ruler to double check, pulled out the exact chain I was thinking of and let me try out different samples wearing the necklace. I was able to pick out the chain I wanted and confirm the necklace was the size I wanted. I also tried on a bunch of rings to narrow down what I wanted and she was so patient with me as I tried several rings in multiple sizes to determine what fit and looked the best paired with my current stack. This location has a lot of jewelry on site, but if you're coming from far maybe call in advance just in case if you want to carry the jewelry out of store. I was able to order my necklace in store and have it shipped to my home with the custom engraving I wanted so that worked for me.
