We went to the Lodi's Market Tavern. Elegantly decorated just like its sibling location in Stockton. Even though we did not have reservations, the staff kindly found a table for us. For starters we had an order oysters and an order of bone marrow. They both tasted as expected-delicious. The oysters were not dry or undercooked. Just perfect. For our entrees our group had the skirt steak which comes with mash potatoes and green beans. The meat was great quality and the beans were cooked al dente. We also tried the chicken Parmesan--big portion accompanied by marinara sauce. Another great choice was the wine braised short ribs: very tender and plentiful atop mashed potatoes and vegetable medley. Real tasty, I had to steal a corner from my wife . It was our first time going here to the Lodi location. We normally go to the one in Stockton because they have a cute little market that is part of the restaurant. The Lodi location is great because you can grab a bite to eat, then do some walking to the cute boutiques or vintage stores afterwards. I ordered the Runaway Bride cocktail. I loved the whole aesthetic of the drink alone but the taste was superb. I'll have to order that again. Their Griddled Cornbread is very good. I ordered their Wood Oven Roasted Mary's 1/2 Chicken. Hey there Party People Recently had lunch at The Market Tavern with family. It had a really good vibe with dark wood giving it a vintage feel. Great outside cafe style seating as well. We had multiple drinks and meals. Everything was very good. The Wine Spritz was elegant with a beautiful flower adding a touch of classs. We had a Michelada de Mexico which was a meal in itself The meals ranged from Carnitas Chilaquiles to Quinoa Salad. Everything was tasty and delightful. We decided to try this place after walking around downtown trying to kill time. I'm so glad we did. It was a Sunday around 2pm and it was a little busy but we were still greeted right away and sat down outside as we requested. There is parking all around but since it is downtown it does get busy where you might have to walk but nothing too crazy. The restaurant is nice and clean and looks very elegant. There is plenty of seating inside and outside. We ended up ordering the wings, and the short rib fried tacos. And after seeing a few customers having this drink we decided to order a coffee martini. Well the wings were absolutely delicious and crispy just like I like them. I was a little confused about the tacos when I took a bite and they were practically frozen but all the toppings were on them. I waited for a server to walk by and asked him if they were supposed to be like that and he said no so he took them back to the kitchen. The waitress did come by and I told her that I had just sent them back and she was also confused since she's the one that recommended them to us. She did apologize and told us they were making them. We got our espresso martini and it was so delicious. We were a little hesitant because we have had a bad one in the past at another restaurant but this one did not disappoint. Our tacos finally and back out and this time they were so hot and crunchy and so delicious. I was a little disappointed that we had to wait longer to get them that we almost just cancelled them because we had to go. But I'm glad we were patient. Very happy there is now a Market Tavern in Lodi. The food and service are consistently good and it's a great place to meet up with a group of friends. I had brunch for the first time on my most recent visit and enjoyed both the food and service. I do wish they had a slightly larger menu selection. We decided to try the new market tavern in Lodi. We had a reservation and were seated outside. The cars on the road were loud and it was not always pleasant. There was a man standing across the street playing music and that was rather nice when I could hear him. Service was spotty. Had to wait awhile for food, water, after dinner drinks, and dessert. My husband enjoyed his dinner. My chicken Parmesan was okay. It did not taste like freshly breaded but more like pre frozen entree. I would not order it again. We were there for quite awhile. We saw friends go in after us and leave before us due to our slow service. I almost felt like they forgot about us outside. It is located in downtown Lodi on their main street. With that said, there's very limited parking on that street so I would recommend parking behind the bank instead of driving around in circles. We made reservations and were sat at the bar area. It was pretty packed so they begin their timing as soon as we sit, I presume. We started with our drink orders which are very reasonably priced for a nice restaurant. Kudos! We ordered a wedge salad and a pepperoni pizza as an appetizer. It was very shareable for four people. I ordered a chicken Marsala. I typically go for the Sausage Rigatoni because that's my favorite from the Stockton location, but I wanted to try something different. For me, the Chicken Marsala was way too salty. The chicken was bone in and fried which I did not expect. The desserts were good. You can't go wrong with any of them. If you see my pictures, we ordered one of everything. If I would choose a favorite, it would be Pear pie à la mode. Something about the warm pie with the crunch and a bit of cold, goes perfectly. I really enjoy Market Tavern in Stockton so I was very excited to try this location. Came here for an evening out for a dinner with my mom and some lady friends. We had a reservation for 4. The table we were placed at was incredibly small and we had no room for our food. I even tipped over one of my dressings due to the lack of space. When going to use the restrooms, it appears that one of the toilets needs to be repaired. I informed one of the waiters and they said knowingly that there are challenges with that restroom. I feel that if their bathrooms need maintenance, they should close that stall and work on the repairs rather than leave it available for customers to use. Pretty odd... Salad was good but overpriced for what it was. Halibut lacked flavor and was quite bland. Service was not particularly hospitable or warm. Love that one of my favorite restaurants has come to Lodi. If you want to dine in, bear in mind there may be a wait. It was packed on Thursday night. We were told 45-60 minutes, and were pleasantly surprised when it wasn't even 10 minutes for a party of 4. The previous venue closed during Covid, and we love how Market Tavern has renovated. We didn't get a chance to go to the "Market" side, but I'm sure I'll be patronizing soon. It's pretty loud in there when you first walk in, but we didn't notice this at the booth we were seated at. As far as the food, it was on par with the Stockton location. We ordered our favorites. The griddled cornbread and deviled eggs are a must try if you haven't. I ordered my quinoa salad with salmon, and hubby got his chicken Parmesan great as always. I got to try a bite of the crispy duck, and it was delicious. Our server was awesome and very accommodating. Wait time was about 20 minutes--totally reasonable. I would've preferred to sit at the bar, but it was absolutely packed (good problem for them to have). Once seated, the service was excellent. Our server was attentive and genuinely kind, and even the support staff--those bringing water, clearing plates, and delivering dessert--were warm and approachable. It makes a difference. We ordered the kamachi, the bone marrow, and the duck confit. Every dish landed exactly how it should. The standout? The apricot preserve served with the duck--liquid gold. Came on the 3rd day of being open. Expected hiccups. For the price of the food, the flavor of the dishes were not up to par. I enjoyed their menu options, but they were also out of a few things on the entree menu and dessert menu. Brussel sprouts were ok, very lemon-y; would prefer roasted peanuts verse raw peanuts, but I would order again. Entrees- Sole, Cauliflower, Stroganoff, and Chicken Parm, were under seasoned. We all had to add salt and pepper to our dishes, which was disappointing. Serving sizes were good. Desserts were ok. The only entree I liked was the fish tacos; this had flavor! Server was very nice. Although busy, I would have liked if he came to check on us more often. We ran out of water several times. Ambiance is nice and appealing. Tristen deserves the first word of this review. She was damn near perfect and for a restaurant on their second day that says A LOT. She was on top of everything and gave honest answers from her own experience when asked for advice. Pretty much everything I ordered was influenced by her feedback. The inside of this place is great with a 1950's kinda feel and industrial highlights. The noise dampening is on point with glass to break up the sections of the building and other features to keep the sound from traveling. All the food was fantastic and a little better than expected. I won't go through each dish but the Khachapuri is a must try along with the skirt steak. They only had one official day of operations under their belt prior to our dinner. It was obvious they had more than enough staff which allowed them to function like they had been open for quite a while. We will be back and are excited to have this choice in Lodi! read more

Came here at around 5pm on a Monday holiday and we were able to get a table for three right away. I've been to the Stockton location a few times, so we wanted to check out the Lodi location since we were nearby. We each got glasses of wine and shared the wings as an appetizer. One of us got the skirt steak, one got a pizza, and I got the beef stroganoff. Everything was so delicious. The wings were crispy and slightly sweet and sticky. The stroganoff pasta and beef was so tender with a dollop of sour cream on top. The leftovers were even better. The lighting is a bit dim, both the decor is really nice. The bathroom was clean. The bill for three wines, an appetizer, and three mains was around $180 before tip. Would definitely come back to try other things on the menu. read more

My daughter's chicken marsala was another repeat of what I just said...the respect I have to give and being a cook myself is how perfectly juicy the chicken was for this plate. We were later informed by our server that the front of house failed to communicate about seating us in her section, but our server was super apologetic and immediately took our order. We visited on the second day of the Lodi location being open, so I am being forgiving in my review rating. The restaurant was naturally busy. We waited about 35 minutes for a table. When our time came to be seated, it seemed odd that we were seated in the far back corner where no one else was. We passed by multiple open tables on our way to find ours. For that, the ambience was non existent. We hardly felt that we got to partake in the dining experience. We sat by ourselves next to the staff who were outside taking their breaks. After several minutes of waiting for someone to notice us, our server arrived and said... Sorry for the wait, no one told me that you were over here. We went ahead and ordered dinner and drinks. My husband had Mary's Nashville Spicy Chicken Sandwich, which he has had quite a few times at their Stockton location, but today's sandwich was very dry. My son and I both had the Short Rib Tacos, which were really good! We would definitely order them again. We had to ask a couple of times for drinks that our server had forgotten about. Again, I'm being forgiving with my review rating because the restaurant had just opened. We often visit the Stockton location because it's a little closer to home but love to hit Lodi from time to time to enjoy the additional menu items for little change. The only reason they don't get 5 stars is the hostess station. We arrived an hour before our reservation and figured we'd check in. If our table was ready awesome if not there are plenty of places to grab a drink and wait. That's exactly what we told the hostess who told us our table would most likely be on the hour. We waited outside and my dad used the restroom. Upon his exit the hostess told him "they're just cleaning your table and it will be ready". We assumed that meant we'd be seated within 20 minutes. When that didn't happen I went in to clarify and the hostess was extremely rude and said "I didn't give you a timeline" which no she didn't but if you tell me all they have to do is clean the table I assume that means we'll be seated shortly. We left for a drink and appetizer and returned for our meal. Thankfully we had Peter who was not only professional but so efficient. It felt like we were at an even more elevated restaurant, cutlery refreshed after every course, prompt drink refreshments. I told him I had an allergy and he was so on it down to every side dressing and sauce, I've never felt safer eating out. Plates were good (Halibut and Skirt Steak) but the food wasn't as hot as it should have been and that was disappointing. Especially at $43 for a skirt steak, The hostess and server never acknowledged the birthday and it was noted on my Open Table reservation. Didn't bother bringing it up to them as I was irritated with the rushed service and lukewarm food. Overall the value, service and food is nothing to write home about and I wouldn't recommend for a special occasion regardless of limited fine dining options in Lodi.
