I think I have found my new favorite lunch spot at Westfield Montgomery Mall. Ruscello is decorated in warm muted tones and comfortable seating. Thank you, Allison for your exceptional service. You were so kind and helpful. I got a fabulous salad. It had egg, bacon bits, avocado, heirloom tomatoes, and the best avocado lime dressing I have eaten in a long time. The salad comes with two warm tasty rolls that are pillowy soft and delicious. My salad was huge and I have plenty for leftovers. The prices were reasonable. So, great service, excellent food, and good prices. I will definitely be back. read more

Had a great lunch at the cafe. Tasty food, nicely portioned, good service. The atmosphere of this cafe is more like a diner. Nothing fancy but comfortable. We had the steak barley soup, lobster bisque, calamari, heriloom tomatoes burrata salad, ravioli, turkey avocado sandwich, and penne bolognese pasta with chicken meatball. This large cafe is inside Nordstrom, right past the womens section on the first floor. It is a sit down restaurant. It is a little more expensive than I expected, especially for lunch. It has a small but diverse menu; and I like that it lists the caloric amounts next to each item. The service was good, even though it was pretty busy in the afternoon. I came with a group of 4 and we got several appetizers- the cauliflower, burrata caprese and the chicken tacos. All of them were amazing but the portion sizes were on the smaller side. The tomatoes and Burrata were super fresh over top of pesto sauce and little crostinis. The cauliflower was nice and crispy but it did have a strong Tahini flavor. For the main meal, I ordered the cilantro salad with Atlantic salmon. There was a good amount of the cheese, pumpkin seeds and corn but I felt like it was missing something, tomatoes might have been good. read more

Marketplace is a sit down restaurant inside Nordstrom's. And it's the only one in the area that does not serve beer or wine. Thanks MoCo laws. That shouldn't deter you in dining here. The menu hasn't really changed much. The French dip and pizzas are quite good here, same with their salads. They offer specials too, but it seems to be the same menu months ago. For one of their specials,don't get their korean beef tacos though, as it tastes nothing like marinated korean beef. We really enjoy their desserts! Their smith island cakes are fantastic, Same with their gelato too. The service here is pretty consistent, although finding them to pay the check can be trying and what's up with no utensils or napkins? Always consistent about refilling your drinks though. read more

I had a wonderful experience here. It was clean and service was terrific. Above all the salad nicoise was delicious. Every element of that salad was perfect- the salmon was flavorful (amazing they cooked the sockeye so well - usually it's dry but not so here) crisp green beans , beautifully roasted potatoes, briny olives, crisp greens... I could eat that salad every day. My son had a grilled cheese and tomato soup and even a dish as simple as that was delightful . We look forward to returning! read more

And man, is this place the shiz. Now, it works like this: -You go up in line to the front counter and order your food with the cashiers. -The cashier will have you pay there and then go to sit at a table in the cafe with your billfold and receipt inside -A waiter will promptly come up and open the billfold to ensure that you get your food and drinks in a timely manner. (BRING CASH FOR TIP: truly the waiters earn it, and then some) The service here should earn another 5 stars. Each time I've been the waiters are so on point that its remarkable. Maybe because their dealing with my grandmother all day, and believe me Nan is bit particular. Or maybe, because the training is such that Nordstrom could sell their server education course and make quite a bit o bank. Either way, the service is bar none fantastic each time. The food ranges from salads, pizzas, sandwiches and pastas. Each meal is fairly priced, made with fantastically fresh ingredients, and the portion size is generous to say the least. Today I got the salad nicoise. The salmon was cooked perfectly and seasoned beautifully. The amount of potatoes, tomatoes, green beans, egg, and capers was spot on. The salad dressing was surely made in house. I would buy it if it came in a bottle. The tomato jam jar was freakin' delicious as well. An inch thick layer of ricotta cheese fills a small mason jar, layered on top with a basil pesto, and then a tomato jam. Freshly toasted crostini are served, and the combination of flavors works flawlessly. The server gets us more crostini as the jar is bountifully filled and never let's our drinks completely go out. Extra points go to Terrence! He was awesome ! Polite, just enough touches, friendly, just everything you want in a server. I've gotten the Chinese chicken salad which is güüd! The large turkey sandwich with avocado and bacon is on point ( albeit a little difficult to eat), and their clam chowder is a simple and tasty interpretation of a classic. Soup Du Jour today was a mushroom bisque, but I was trying to stay on the lighter side of life. If you're scratching your head thinking... "There's a restaurant inside of the Nordstrom at Montgomery Mall?!" You need to give your grandmother a call. First, tell you that you love her, and second invite her out to lunch. Nordstrom does it all, even food! Do not underestimate this restaurant, every item I have ordered has been delicious! You would be surprised to know that there can be a wait on weekends during brunch/lunch. The staff are great, their customer service is on par with what Nordstrom is known for :) On my last visit with a friend, we ordered two different dishes to split. My favorite dish on the menu, Cilantro Lime Chicken Salad and Grilled Chicken & Spinach Alfredo. The Cilantro Lime Chicken is very filling, despite being a salad. The salad has baby greens, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, grilled corn, pumpkin seeds, lotssss of chicken and cilantro lime vinaigrette. I love the cilantro lime vinaigrette, very flavorful, but not overwhelming. I do not want to hype up the salad, but this is seriously my favorite salad! You have to try for yourself, I ended up making my friend fall in love with it too ;) The Grilled Chicken & Spinach Alfredo has pappardelle, baby spinach, roasted tomato, cheese and lotssss of chicken as well. My only gripe with the dish was that there was not enough pappardelle and too much chicken. I prefer my carb to meat ratio higher, but that is my personal preference. If you have not tried Marketplace Cafe, give it a try and you will not be disappointed! Nordstrom Café it's been a while! I've had wonderful experiences and will never forget their amazing goat cheese - arugula - apple salad (rip). Anywho- my family and I were greeted and seated quickly upon entering. It was nice to see some updates to the menu and our server suggested the berry lemonade which I ordered right away. My mom and sister ordered a cup of tomato soup (classic) and I ordered the tahini/olive/cauliflower to start with. It went a little downhill from here. We all know the soup is already made you just have to pour it in it's respective bowl/cup. My lemonade came & then my app made an appearance soon after. But where's the soup? Our server was nowhere to be found and we had to flag down someone else to get the soup for us. When the gentleman brought it over he confirmed that our server forgot about it. We were off to a slow start- everything up until this point tasted great and we kept trucking along. My sister and I shared the Korean beef tacos (entree) as well as the chicken tacos (appetizer). My mom ordered the salmon (her go-to). The plates started rolling in but pretty delayed with the salmon coming last. Appetizers Tomato soup is always a hit! Chicken tacos - so good ! Two small crispy shell tacos but packed with chicken and toppings, great to start with. Tahini cauliflower olive "dip"- meh it was OK I probably wouldn't order it again. Entrees Korean beef tacos -YUMMMM soo good wish the tacos were BIGGER. It comes with sliced avocado and a bunch of lettuce that they could probably do without. Salmon on cous cous, sadly the salmon was over cooked. The berry lemonade was REALLY GOOD, I also ate all the fruit that was floating around my drink =) I believe that the food and service will vary by location . We are more accustomed to a customer service statement of being "present and here". Unfortunately, the counter seemed understaffed and there was nobody in the main entrance to direct us of whether we can sit or order at the counter. The ordering and dine in experience at the Tysons Corner location (VA) is significantly more involved and hands on. Please work on enhancing the availability of service upon entry . I came to the mall during the week day to do some shopping. I didn't feel like eating at the food court so I stopped by this cafe inside of Nordstrom. Every time I come shopping during the weekend, this restaurant always look busy. I decided to be seated because it wasn't busy. It's a restaurant that you can be seated or to order and go by the front register. I was surprised by their menu, it had all American gourmet dishes at a reasonable price. I ended up ordering the Asian chicken salad and tomato soup. The salad was good with a light vinaigrette and the chicken was tender. The mandarin oranges gave it a hint of sweetness. The tomato soup was amazing. It was creamy and flavorful. I ended up buying a jar they were selling to take home to make later. The service was a bit slow. The restaurant wasn't busy maybe only 2-3 tables were occupied. When the food came, there was no utensils and I had to wait for the server to help another customer. It also took her a long time to close out the check. Overall, I had a positive experience beside the slow service. read more

I'm obviously not a child but they let me order the kids chicken tenders. It's three chicken tenders and its very very delicious. The meal comes with a drink I opted for milk too bad they didn't have skim had to take whole milk. Also came with awesome chips, and a small cup for fruit for under $6. I'm not sure how this works but you pay first even if you want to sit at a table and someone delivers the food to you. The kids meal was so good I'm definitely coming back to try a real entree from here, a few things looked good like the Chinese Chicken Salad, steak chimichurri, and the cilantro lime chicken salad. P.S Pretty sure they have free WIFI here I saw a lot of people at tables with their laptops out so maybe this is a good quiet spot to study, do work or even yelp from! read more

Great place for a quick cup of soup and to share a chicken club sandwich. All was good and service was quick as we let our server know we were on our way to catch a flight. Not as impressive as I remember years ago... Somewhat of a disappointment and a waste of $19. I dine out quite a bit and am unsure if I would select this place over Cheesecake Factory within Montgomery Mall. Food: 3 Stars: I ordered the French Dip Sandwich which was ok: the "dip" tasted like it has balsamic vinegar mixed in. I liked the cup of black bean soup and might come back and order it to go. The salad had different veggies but had browned lettuce in it. Cashier: 5 stars: was very knowledgable and answered all of my questions Maya my waitress: 2 stars: She waited until the entire section had left before she came to ask me how my meal was going which was 30 minutes after it arrived at my table! If I didn't like my meal or something was wrong, I wouldn't have had any time to voice my concern. She returned less than 5 minutes later and said "I thought I should give you your mint now." All in all, I will give it one more chance but not sit in her section if possible. read more

This would've been a 4 star review had it not been the atrocious service. We were a large party but the entire place was empty when we were seated right when they opened. Instead of taking our order, they had a staff meeting. Then food took ages to come out. Then the waitress mixed up everyone's check 3 ways. Long story made even longer, it took way too long and the babies were melting down and everyone was flustered and we all wanted to leave. With all that being said, their tomato soup is bomb. I eat a lot of tomato soup because my husband loves tomato soup so I've become an unwitting tomato soup connoisseur. There is a recipe for it online and it looks like the secret, as is the secret to most things, is creme et plus creme. Anyway, I also like their "salmon nicoise" salad. Never had anything but tuna nicoise before now but I can get with the program. If you get a half salad, they still give you a full size salmon which usually ends up meaning you get leftovers for dinner. If their service ever improves, it would be a solid lunch spot. Mom tip: women's lounge with baby changing space is across the "hall" aka walkway through the kids' section. read more

Failed to provide straws for our drinks, which prompted me to ask a different waiter for straws. Unbeknownst to me at the time, other customers were receiving better treatment. I dined here few times and I was always happy with the food and service. The staff always provided excellent service and always refilled our coffee and water without asking. We never experienced delay in food delivery. The food has excellent quality. I highly recommend cilantro chicken salad. Its also very child friendly restaurant. read more

I came in and ordered from a food menu at the counter, but had to ask the cashier what beverages they have because I couldn't see them listed anywhere. Then, a server brought food to the table and continued to serve my needs. Prices are reasonable: e.g, $10.99 for sandwich with salad. I came late for lunch ( after 3 o'clock during the week), so the staff was more casual. Chatting in front of me when I'm ordering my food, ignoring my comments. The servers were wonderful. The food is fine, but I didn't realize the turkey club would have fried bread. I really didn't need the fat. I appreciate the comfortable seating and Zen rock garden at the windows. read more

If you find yourself bored with or mildly disgusted by the food court options at Montgomery Mall and don't want to dine at Legal Seafood, California Pizza Kitchen, or Noodles & Company, treat yourself to a nice sit down or to-go meal at Nordstrom Marketplace Cafe (located on the first floor next to BP Shoes). They compete extremely well with your other sit down options at a great price point. The cashiers weren't the friendliest, but they were accommodating. I ordered the salmon nicoise salad, but wanted my fish well-done. They made the adjustment and my salad was extremely delicious and very filling. My sister ordered the caesar salad with grilled shrimp and it was also tasty. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive. You definitely feel as though you're eating at a somewhat upscale place that is as casual and approachable as the prices. Although I kept it on the healthy side with the salad order, the cafe has a good variety of meal choices, including soup (tomato basil - my favorite!), sandwiches, pizzas, pasta and entrees like roasted salmon and rustic vegetables. They also offer a selection of sweets like muffins, cheesecake, and scones. I'll definitely be a regular patron here on my trips to Montgomery Mall. 3 words: Turkey Club Grill I dare you to find a better sandwich in the DMV. Turkey clubs are solid on their own but Nordstrom Café uses crusty white bread and puts it in a panini press so the bread is warm and crunchy, and the sharp cheddar and garlic aioli become ooey gooey goodness. Spend an extra $1.50 and add avocado to elevate the sandwich to bliss on a plate. I legit wanted a cigarette after I finished my sandwich. A nice touch is that you choose chips, salad, or fruit as your side. In true Nordie's fashion, the staff is super nice and helpful. You're a dummy if you eat in the food court instead of here. read more

Yes, it's inside Nordstrom on the 1st floor across the mall entrance, and yes, they serve real food! It's not just a little dinky cafe or a sandwich line, it's actually very cozy and nicely designed. You order and pay at the front, and a waitor/waitress will come over to your table after you choose a place to sit down. The booths are very comfy, btw. This past visit was my second time getting the asian chicken salad just because it's that good! It has marinated chicken, mandarin oranges, wonton strips, almonds, red pepper, carrots, and etc. I always try to go light on the dressing because I'm "trying" to eat healthier, and I also don't like it too oily/soggy....but their ginger dressing was SO yummy that I actually put it all over my salad! That's a big step for me...just sayin. I'd say most of their food runs around $7-$12? There's a cafe inside a department store? And it actually serves real food? And the food actually tastes good? And the cafe is actually nicely decorated inside, so much so, that you forget you are in the middle of a crowded department store? The answer is yes to all of the above. I was pretty surprised the first time my fiancée pointed this place out- its not exactly well-signed. Last night I had a meeting to go to near the mall, and she suggested we eat here quickly- she said it was good and she was right. The format is similar to many other similar fastfood-but-not-McD's restaurants (think Panera, Cosi, Corner Bakery, Noodles). You place your order at the front, take a seat in the rather large dining room and the staff brings your meal out. The Chinese chicken salad was surprisingly good- great dressing! My roast beef and horseradish sandwich was good as well- but the bun was a little overly toasted and got crumbly. The one downside to this place- its definitely on the pricey side- 8-10 for a salad or sandwich. But for mall food, its one of the best options in Montgomery Mall. read more

This is a great spot for lunch, coffee/tea, dessert in the afternoon or to chit chat with friends. There is a decent size lunch crowd, even on a random Tuesday. You wait in line, order and pay, then sit down somewhere and a server will deliver your drinks and food--sort of a strange hybrid of counter and wait service. Everything I have tried has been really good. My regular thing used to be the salmon niscoise salad, which comes heavily loaded with egg, green beans and other goodies and comes with a decent sized portion of salmon. Ask for the dressing on the side unless you like your salad so overdressed that it shrivels, giving in. I really like the shrimp risotto they have now, and I always have to get the tomato soup, which is excellent. Iced tea is good, but depending on who your "server" is, it could be awhile to get a refill. Ask for a to go cup though, so then you can take it with you! For the kids options, you have to ask for a double fruit or other option or they give you chips. The kids meals are decent sized and even good for a grown up snack or light lunch; especially the tomato soup and grilled cheese! I am not a fan of the kids turkey sandwich though. My four year old says that it is "too spicy," and I actually agree that they use way too many peppercorns on the sliced turkey--I have no idea why they do this for a kids meal. It is somehow roulade-d in too, so there really isn't a way to avoid it. Have yourself a cookie. Any of them will do, but the oatmeal is really good. It is a huge portion so I usually just eat half and save the treat for later! Overall, this is a great location and good if you want healthful options for your kids. Just don't go here for dinner. We have been to Nordstrom Cafe on numerous occasions. We always get the same dishes - shrimp & arugula salad with corn for me and salmon with roasted veggies for my husband. I would have given the cafe 4 stars in the past - great food, mostly ok service, but expensive considering it looks like a more spacious Panera bread. There was one time when I wanted to carry out that I ended up waiting 30 minutes for the meal, which was totally not worth it. Anyway, I have given them 3 stars in this review because we went again yesterday, and I feel like they changed the salad recipe. It was like my meal was mostly arugula stems. It seemed like there was less corn, shrimp, and croutons, and I realized afterwards that they didn't give me the Parmesan cheese listed on the menu. We then had a chocolate cake for dessert - it wasn't amazing, but it was enormous and tasted good enough that I finished the entire thing. My problem is that there were 2 servers, 5 or 6 tables of people, and it still took 10 minutes to get a slice of ready-made cake. It used to be that you would go to the counter to order and then a server would bring it to the table, but now they have changed so that the server takes your order like in a full-service restaurant. We would have gotten our cake a lot faster had they not changed the process. It was a disappointing experience for a $50 meal and I would hesitate to go again. read more

Got the half turkey sandwich that came with chips and fruits (half a strawberry and black seedless grapes). Very straight forward, white bread, slice of turkey, one lettuce, one slice of tomato. Bland because I didn't want any mayo or anything else on it. The crust of the bread was extremely hard so I peeled it off. Once I peeled it off there was barely any bread left for my sandwich. Service is always good here, they always seem busy but they get the things to you fairly quickly. I love the little chocolate mint sticks they give to you at the end with the tray to leave tip on. He ordered the skirt steak which was cooked perfectly and served with awesome carrots asparagus and potatoes. The chimchurri sauce was great too. I got the chicken and artichoke pasta and it was simply delicious. Great white sauce with spinach artichokes and topped with pine nuts!
