We came for happy hour (Mon-Fri 3-6pm) on a weekday and it wasn't crowded. I asked the hostess about happy hour, and we weren't served a happy hour menu (not sure if there is a physical happy hour menu or not). It can be found on their website, with every item being below $10. The best deal is their $9 7" pizza and draft beer. The pizza itself is decent enough, my favorite being the bbq chicken pizza. Service was ok. Because we sat outside, we weren't checked often, and we waited over 15 min for water. They have outdoor patio seating overlooking the water.

Bowl of two soups- Tomato and Tortilla. Looks nice either way presentation. Not sure why they add oil drops to the tomato side.

I haven't been here for years (moved from the area and since returned), but I recall the salads and soups were good. We gave it a shot at this location last night. When we sat, Jimmie greeted us and offered us complimentary bread with olive oil for the table. We didn't order any beverages, so he returned with waters and the bread. The bread is really good. Crunchy on the outside and soft, but not doughy, on the inside. The oil is a nice complement. We started with soups. I got a bowl half and half tomato soup and tortilla soup. It's a very large portion. The tortilla soup is terrific as was the tomato. The tomato was a bit too salty for me (it's a matter of taste - don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it, but would have preferred more tomato focus), but not crazy salty as I've gotten at some restaurants where it's unpleasant to eat. It's a good tomato soup. My partner got a cup of the pea and barley soup, which was a nice size portion and really delicious, I got the Half Thai Crunch Salad and my partner got the Half Crispy Dumpling Salad. Both salads were fresh, crisp and delicious. Mine could have used a bit more peanut dressing (again, a personal choice, not a slam on the entree). Honestly, between the bread and the soup, we were full and took most of our salads home. We sat outside on the patio overlooking the Rio manmade lake and the constant stream of folks walking by. On a pleasant evening, outside is the place to be. I can't speak to the pizzas or other entrees, but for salads and soups, this place is solid. And Jimmie was a terrific and enthusiastic server.

Went to Rio to try a different place, but they were closed for a private holiday event, so we hopped over to CPK on a whim. Our server Jimmy was amazing - good energy and attentive and checked in just enough! 5/5 for service! The food, however, was very disappointing even when not expecting much from a chain restaurant. I tried the California Colada - tasted almost like straight up pineapple juice with a hint of coconut from the rum, needs more flavor profile. Then I tried their new braised short rib ragu - as soon as it hits my mouth, it tastes bitter - too much oregano, and burnt oregano at that! Even the fresh parsley was past its prime, I was taking leaves out of my mouth thinking they were dried herbs but it was the "fresh" parsley. Their pizza was on point - we were debating on 2 and Jimmy said they can do half-half ($2.50 extra not mentioned). Burnt ends pizza was flavorful and carne asada was ok (meats were dry and flavorless but the sauces made up for it). Then we decided to try their popular butter cake with ice cream ($3.50 extra again not mentioned). The cake was very dry, my date literally choked on a piece before we broke it apart to mix with the ice cream and whipped cream to make it palatable. Food was 2/5. For $100+ for 2 people, the value just wasn't there for the food we were served unfortunately. Better food can be had elsewhere. I normally weigh the food more, but this time service carried the weight, so 3/5 overall experience.

I normally don't leave negative reviews, but this experience was concerning. We found a staple in our food!!! - which is obviously a serious safety issue. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but it definitely ruined the meal as we were looking forward to dinner. That said, our waiter and manager were very kind and apologetic, which we appreciated. We didn't end up getting a replacement meal and just asked for our bill after having an appetizer and drinks because our appetite was ruined. Because of that, the manager comped our bill as we didn't get anything else. Which we appreciated, but this shouldn't have happened to begin with. I used to love coming to CPK, esp for their tostada pizza, but I don't think we will be coming here for a good while, or at all anymore. They've lost their touch, which is very disappointing. I really do hope management takes this seriously and improves their kitchen safety procedures.

Tuesday 3/11/25 Surprised I've never written a review until now, but here we go. I used to enjoy my visits to CPK back when I went with the family. The last time I went for a meal was in late 2022 (I believe), and since then I haven't been back unless I had to get my birthday freebies. Some of the items I remember getting were the Alfredo pasta, strawberry lemonade, BBQ chicken pizza, their house bread, and others, but I don't remember them. And the food's not bad or anything, but after a while I realized there's just better food out there so I stopped going for meals. I have gone back to back years to pick up my birthday freebie, which is a free birthday dessert, and I appreciate it every time I redeem it. I've gotten the butter cake both times, and it's good. Looking forward to coming back next year!

We were the only customers when we arrived around 6:30pm and one table of four that were seated. A slow Monday! Not sure how it is other days but the service was fast. Diane was friendly and attentive and took care of our needs consistently. She unrecommended their house lemonade, which I appreciate. If it's not good, it's not good! They serve complimentary bread and oil and more if you ask. The pizza is a shareable size and enough if you eat an appetizer. The pizza is fairly small and the crust is large. We did a split of white onion and red onion. The taste was very good---fresh, piping hot, and really enjoyable! The strawberry mango lemonade was flavorful and had fresh strawberries. There is club soda to make it sparkling. The dessert was a bit of a letdown because the brownie wasn't hot to contrast the cold scoops of ice cream. The bill was $40, which is reasonable. The ambiance is nice. It's good to see staff cleaning when there's down time rather than making reels or laughing into their personal cell phones.

Honestly, you can't go wrong with CPK. It's free bread and olive oil alone can cure a common cold. As a local, I only go a few times a year but their pizza crust is so crispy and delicious, it's like a warm hug on a winter day. I do wish the carb macros were less but HEY, it's PIZZA...forget about it. Every server I've met is a delight and it overlooks the lake, which makes for a great dinner or lunch view. They give you all the cheese you want. If you're in RIO, please stop by if you're starving, otherwise stay clear because this hearty mid-tier priced pie will fill you up. Lastly, their take and bake deals (if they're still offering it) are insane, it's like pretty much half off.

I had great service while visiting CPK. I sat at the bar with two friends. We were immediately greeted and taken care of by the bartender. I thought this bartender had a fantastic personality! She made it feel like a party while sitting at the bar and made a great skinny margarita! I was extremely impressed that Casamigos tequila was the default tequila for this drink on the menu. I would definitely order it again! I ordered the White Corn Guacamole and Chips as my meal. There are not so many vegan options at CPK, and this is one of the few items that is vegan without any modifications. The portion size was extremely generous, and I loved the corn adding texture to the guacamole. The flavor was not the best guacamole I ever had, but was at least good enough to order again. There was definitely a clear lime flavor that came through, the salt level was perfect, and I just wish there was more diced tomato and a few more components of traditional guacamole. Overall my only feedback for CPK is to increase the vegan options. The menu is very limiting for vegans. I would love to come back more often and one day enjoy a pizza with vegan cheese!

California Pizza Kitchen used to be the spot where I knew it wouldn't fail me, ever. Until recently... I went to CPK twice in July and both times were mediocre. Since they brought back the tostada pizza, I was very eager to experience the great taste again, but it just didn't hit the same as before. Not just the tostada pizza, but also the Thai crunch salad. I don't recall there being lettuce/leafy greens in the salad, but this time there were. I asked my server if this was the correct order. Is there supposed to be leafy greens in the salad? She responded - "I don't know, probably. Maybe the recipe changed" *rolls eyes* Even on the menu it doesn't list any leafy greens so I was just confused. I like that there are some new items to the menu, but please perfect the old items before introducing new items. The tostada pizza is a fan favorite and I'm so disappointed it doesn't taste the same as before.

Came in for a bite with a friend on a Wednesday evening. There was no wait and we were seating promptly. The inside dining room is clean with bar seating as well as booths and dining tables. The interior design is modern and minimalistic. We ordered the California club chicken pizza, I expected it to look like the picture in the menu but to my surprise it came out looking like a Cesar salad on pizza crust. Unfortunately, the greens were too much for me.. luckily they slid right off the pizza & I enjoyed the chicken, bacon, cheese, and sauce underneath. I also ordered the tropical mule, it was very sweet tasting and did not remind me of a mule. Our server was attentive and checked in with us throughout our meal. She even gave me the drink for the happy hour price even though we were 5-10mins early. Our food came out fast, even faster than my drink! The weather was perfect for sitting out on the patio. Their patio is my favorite in all of Rio since it's so close to the water. It's a great people watching spot as well! We will be back!

The hostess was warm and accommodating, offering to seat me while I waited for my friend. Once she arrived, we were promptly shown to a comfortable booth in the dining room. The floor-to-ceiling windows filled the space with natural light, creating a bright and inviting atmosphere. We started with the cheesesteak spring rolls (three per order), which were delicious. They tasted exactly as advertised--gooey cheesesteak filling wrapped in a perfectly crispy spring roll. For our entrees, my friend ordered the short ribs with broccoli instead of risotto, while I chose the Cajun shrimp pasta. The short ribs came with two generous pieces and were incredibly tender. My friend, who always orders short ribs whenever they're on a menu, was thoroughly impressed. The Cajun shrimp pasta was just okay. While it included a generous portion of nicely sized shrimp and the sausage added some much-needed flavor, the dish overall fell short of my expectations. The pasta was cooked slightly past al dente, and I was hoping for more of the bold, spicy kick you'd expect from a Cajun dish, but the flavors never really came through. To top off the evening, our server surprised me with a complimentary birthday dessert, allowing me to choose anything on the menu. That was such a thoughtful touch. We shared the cheesecake, which was served in a half mason jar with whipped cream, a chocolate "Happy Birthday" plaque, and a candle. I requested the blueberry compote on the side since I wasn't sure we'd enjoy it. While it ended up being a bit sweeter than our preference, it complemented the tart cheesecake filling nicely. The only thing that caught me off guard was that the cheesecake was served warmer than expected. On a hot summer evening, I was anticipating a chilled dessert. Overall, I had a fantastic experience. The attentive service, comfortable atmosphere, and the fact that we never felt rushed--even after spending about two and a half hours at dinner--made for a memorable birthday celebration. While my entrée didn't quite hit the mark, I'd gladly return to try another dish with a bolder flavor profile.

My girlfriend had a well-done cheeseburger with their house made cole slaw that she loved. I had a small bite and it was fantastic. I have had blackened Ahi tuna in a number of fine restaurants, but this was the best by far. The tenderness of the tuna and its flavor was fantastic. The cole slaw is delicious and the tasty jasmine rice had been cooked perfectly. What we noticed most was the tremendous balance of flavors. They were distinct yet one element of the meal complemented another perfectly on the same plate. Their Reese's and chocolate cookie with vanilla was wonderful. It was refreshing and not overly sweet. Many thanks to Aidan for being cool, helpful, and patient. In addition, the meal was so amazing I had forgotten my credit card. Aidan was kind enough to keep it tucked away for safe keeping and I picked it up the following afternoon. We cannot wait to return to this exceptional establishment. I wish I could give it more than five stars.

Liz, our server, was attentive throughout the meal, checking on us regularly. Other staff members were equally attentive, promptly clearing our table and ensuring everything was taken care of. Overall, it was an excellent dining experience. The restaurant was bustling on this Friday evening, with what seemed like everyone eager to kick off the weekend.

Dear Management, I…read moream writing to share my family's experience during our Father's Day visit to your restaurant. Unfortunately, what should have been a special celebration turned into a very disappointing experience due to the service we received upon arrival. We had a reservation for 4:00 p.m. When we arrived, the gentleman at the host stand was not welcoming or friendly. He simply told us to "step to the side" and that someone would assist us in a few minutes. As the minutes passed, we continued to wait without any communication. During that time, a white family of five walked in without a reservation and was seated immediately. At that point, I approached the host stand to ask what had happened and why we had not been seated despite having a reservation. The host searched for our reservation, asked what time it was scheduled for, and then casually stated, "I think someone stole your table." I was shocked by this response. I asked how that could happen if he was responsible for managing the seating. He had no explanation and, more importantly, never offered an apology for the mistake or the inconvenience. A manager later came over and asked what had happened. After I explained the situation, he appeared genuinely surprised and concerned by what had occurred. Once we were finally seated, our server acknowledged the delay and kindly offered us an appetizer because of the long wait at the front. We appreciated that gesture, but it did not change how unwelcome we had been made to feel upon arrival. I am writing this letter not because I am looking for compensation or anything in return. My purpose is simply to ensure that no other family has a similar experience, especially on a day meant to celebrate loved ones. Every guest deserves to be treated with fairness, courtesy, and respect. A sincere apology from the host at the time of the incident would have gone a long way. I hope you will use this feedback as an opportunity to coach your front-of-house staff on the importance of customer service, communication, and accountability. Thank you for taking the time to read my concerns. Sincerely, Ms. Deas

I was a little apprehensive that we would have to wait to get a table but the hostess took us right away. We sat outside because we had my dog with us. Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. However, she kept forgetting the small things, like glasses of water and sugar for our coffee. When she brought us the sugar each time she would only give us three packets and their were three of us at the table drinking coffee and tea. So that was pretty annoying. The food was good. We usually go to Silver Diner but this was a good change of pace. I ordered the French Toast with Bacon and eggs. It was good, I wish they used different bread for the toast though. Their wasn't really anything special about the dish. My parents ordered the Make Your Mark which included two eggs, meat, hashbrowns, and toast. They both enjoyed their breakfast. Everything was prepared and cooked to their liking. Overall, we had a good experience. Not sure when I will be back. But if you are in the area check them out. Cheers!

They quickly brought out a new waffle. My son ate most of it then asked what's this paper inside the waffle. They had somehow cooked a nutritional label inside the waffle. Unbelievable and disgusting. Manager comped half the breakfast which was a reasonable gesture but we will not be going back. Update - They sent no message back and a $100 gift card. Reasonable gesture but not interested in eating there even for free.

I am writing this review with genuine shock because I didn't expect to enjoy my food as much as I…read moredid. I've lived in the city for years and seen various similar restaurants in Chinatown come and go -- like Fuddruckers, Green Turtle, and Ruby Tuesday. And while they may have similar menu items, the food was good. We stopped by on a Saturday early-evening and were seated immediately which I didn't expect. There is 2 floors of seating in what looks like a seemingly small location. While I was there, I saw them quickly accommodate 2 huge buses of tourist with burger dinners and drinks quickly while also still serving regular patrons. As for food, I can say that everything my party ordered was a hit: chicken tenders and fries for kids, cheeseburger, salmon dinner, and pizza! They also had a really cute kids menu ice cream to end the day for my little one. Highly recommend for a sit down meal, decently priced, family friendly, and solid food.

Pepperoni pizza - 4* a solid pizza, especially when under $10 during Four Cheese Spinach Dip - 4* we enjoyed the sprinkling of cheese on the chips and the dip was really good. At first it tasted a bit too salty but that dissipated the more I ate. Chicken Nachos - 2.5* we were not impressed with the nachos. I appreciated the generous serving of guacamole but the chicken was sparsely sprinkled on, the chips were burnt on the edges and soggy in the middle, and it was overall unimpressive.
