Mediocre. I came twice during school here and both times got the number 1. So the first time the brisket and ribs were dry and the ribs were small. 2nd time, the brisket was dry again and pork was dry, had to drench them in sauce. The ribs were decent size, dry. The only reason they get 3 stars is the honey wings were good. For 17 bucks I would expect one of two things, bigger portions (they were small) or juicy excellent food. Lastly, sides were bland. We ordered dinners for three for curbside pickup to eat at home, which was 10 minutes away. When we got home, the 4 rib basket was missing the fries, which were listed on the menu as coming with the ribs. The ribs and the other food we ordered was good, but disappointing to have part of the order missing when you get something to go. read more

My brisket meal was better than most, but my companion claims his ribs were comparable in taste with those from Chili's...so...maybe don't get the ribs? You can swap a side of toast for 2 cornbread muffins (+$.20), which I recommend. And the seasonal broccoli slaw is also worth a try. read more

I'm in town for business and wanted ribs. I found Marks on yelp. I want there because of the reviews. I did find one negative review on the ribs. It said the ribs tasted bland. Unfortunately I have to agree. There was plenty of meat. They were tender. I got a full slab and only ate three ribs. The mac and cheese was good. The fries were ok. Phenomenal restaurant with delicious food, options for everyone's taste, and a private back room you can book for large dinner parties or work lunch meetings. Definitely order the friend pickles and some sweet cornbread. My team enjoyed everything we ordered. I thought their sweet potato was cooked to perfection and their pulled pork and chicken were just right. I would definitely recommend them for a large lunch or dinner party or even catering for business lunches. PORTIONS, PORTIONS, PORTIONS..... okay so we order ribs, brisket with sides. When it comes to taste i will say great ribs. The brisket was good but a bit too fatty, you need some fat but when you have too much you only smoke fat. Now because of portion sizes this i why i give it 3 stars, with the ribs we asked for a side salad, that came in a medium size container... this would be the same for the other sides, potato salad and mac/cheese, nope... although awesome dishes, they came in a container that seemed about the size of condiment cups. When we tasted those sides we were highly disappointed that we only got a bite of it. Recommendation- when someone comes in for carry out please had them a paper menu not the dinning-in menu. There were more options(or at least thats what we felt like) on the paper menu that were missed on the dinning-in one. We definitely plan to come back and hopefully have. Not as good as a few years ago. Food was not hot when served. The Mac n cheese was like paste and we could need eat it. Ordered an app which they failed to deliver until our grand daughter said "hey, where are the pickles?" They did apologize and take them off the bill, though. There are some nice employees there but the first waitress was annoyed we asked for "fancy" club soda and evidently quit on us and turned us over to another waitress. I did a previous review of this awesome BBQ restaurant in Elizabethtown, KY and once again I found the food amazing. Came with family and had a late dinner. I tried the pork sandwich with fries because I wasn't very hungry. The sandwich was loaded with pork and the fries were crispy and hot. I really like the red sauce but the yellow sauce is also good. My son got a free entree and chocolate sundae as a reward in their loyalty program. Really recommend if you like great BBQ. read more

The spicy fries are exactly that, spicy This is a local restaurant chain that I would say try out of your own curiosity. Well, the smell of Barbecue is what gets you first, from the parking lot and on into the restaurant, 2nd time we visited and it was just as good as the first time. I had a full side of baby backs, wife had the #1, I like my ribs a lil wetter but still tasty and the deep fried pickle as an appetizer were perfect. Atmosphere was a little loud and it seems to be a good place to bring the kids as there were several there, all having a great time, everyone I saw seemed to be enjoying their meal. Just in town for a few days so we decided to try this local bbq joint off the main road. I had the sampler platter that came with 2 pieces of brisket that had zero smoke ring but it was tender and juicy, pulled pork that also had zero smoke flavor and was bland but their bbq sauce helped, honey wings which I absolutely hated, Mac n cheese that tasted like it came out a box and potato salad which was delicious oh and the toast was bomb too. I wanted to try their oreo banana pudding but our waitress brought us the check and then asked if we wanted desert not bad I suppose but I won't be rushing back next time we are in town. read more

I really enjoy good BBQ. It doesn't take much to impress me when it comes to food. However, food safety is paramount to any restaurant getting a good rating. I ordered carry out bbq chicken today and it was severely undercooked. It was practically flying off my plate. The food was probably tasty but I'll never know because of uncooked meat in front of me. Amazing food....I had the combo platter #1 (pork, brisket, honey wings and baby back ribs). I used to own a wong restaurant so i consider myself a bit of a snob. Never had any wings like this --they were honey wings and they were delicious! Id return just for the wings. Waiter brought out a traditional bbq sauce and a mustard sauce. I tried both and they were excellent. Sweet tea was perfect and I didn't have to ask for it to be filled. Had buttermilk crunch for dessert (as the menu says "chunks of Pie topped with ice cream, caramel and nuts). I frown upon chain restaurants but this is a place I'll write home about read more

The employees are super sweet and accommodating and go out of their way to make sure the customer is satisfied! The misses and I went out tonight to Mark's. It was busy but not full house, so we were seated right away. We ordered a 7 piece honeywing appetizer to share and they were absolutely to die for! The wings weren't puny, the breading was light and crispy, which compliments the outstanding honey sauce they use. I absolutely recommend trying them if you're a wing-fiend like I am! I ordered the country-sized brisket sandwich platter with spicy fries and fried sweet corn on the cob while my better half got the pulled chicken bbq entrée with a loaded baked potato and the corn as well. The brisket wasn't cold, but it could have been warmer. However, it still retained flavor and moistness. My better half's pulled chicken was smoky and moist, and almost melted like butter in the mouth. The chicken is an absolute must try! The baked potato was most certainly loaded and nothing was skimped on. The corn tasted perfect as it was, no butter or salt/pepper needed. The only real thing I can complain about were the spicy fries. They weren't really spicy, but rather tasted as if they loaded the Lawry's seasoned salt onto them. Also, the manager handed our dishes to us and accidentally gave the misses a honeywing entrée instead of her chicken. He simply had grabbed the wrong platter and corrected it within seconds with zero issues, so that was a big plus. All n' all, Mark's in Etown is a pretty darn good location to stop at for BBQ, or even wings if you want to experience an excellent and unique flavor. So, this meal based on a craving for both BBQ and somewhere unexplored by me. I decided to stop here, as it was most convenient to my days adventure, and I am so glad I did. I honestly thought the totality of the place was a carry out, not a restaurant, so color me surprised when I walked in to a host stand. Took a seat in the bar area (a bar!) and let my server know I was a first timer. She helped guide me to the rib meal #1 as it gives a good taste of their menu. Ribs were some of the best I've had that weren't homemade, tried both house sauces on the pulled pork (more on the sauce in a sec) which was also really good. The honey wings are definitely different than what expected. Good, if a little sweet for my aging pallet. So, my only drawback (?) is the sauce. Neither were my cup of tea; but I did take a bottle home to run some home concocted mixes. Customer service was very warm, and attentive. I will be back. read more

Great food, the server knew all the ingredients in the Burgoo... Which is very good. The meat just fell off of the ribs. The pork, and chicken were excellent as well. The sauces on the table were great (didnt have the HOT, since I dont like HOT). My wife got the Fried Sweet Corn, which was very good as well. The manager came around and asked us how it was, we told him we are from Chicago, and we were down for the Bourbon Trail, and this was our first time here. He made sure we were happy with everything (which we were). He chatted with us for 3-4 minutes, and since we were first timers, we each got a free slice of buttermilk pie, which is very good by the way. I also had a beer, I think it was Marks Barndoor Brew?? But it was an AWESOME amber beer that went with the BBQ, very well. All in all, it was a very good place, and when we come back next year, we will stop in again. read more

Added 1 star for a very nice waitress. I was hoping for some genuine local food but got something very...generic tasting. Ordered the ribs which were fine but not really great. The sauce definitely came from a bottle and there wasn't much smoke flavor to these ribs. Parts of it were dry and I wasn't impressed. For the sides I got green beans and a baked sweet potato. The waitress told me the potato came with cinnamon butter and I asked if I could have plain instead. Both types came out with my meal and neither one was butter- it was packets of margarine (cinnamon spread and buttery spread was how they were labeled). They dont even have real butter? Lastly, the green beans were awful- tasted like they came out of a can! Clearly, nothing here comes fresh or homemade and you can tell. read more

This place is awesome! We ate there and I forgot to ask for no sauce on my chicken. They made me a new chicken order without sauce and gave me the old order to take home. We just saw a disabled vet asking for food on a nearby corner. When I told our waitress, Michelle, we would take it to him she coordinated with the manager and gave us coleslaw, drink, utensils and napkins for him. That is incredible customer service and shows great character in both the manager and waitress. The disabled vet was so grateful. We will return again and again! read more

You know, I remember this being a lot better a few years ago at a different location further up on Dixie. I got the full rib dinner with cornbread salad and red potato salad. The cornbread salad was decent, the red salad was creamy and bland-not my thing. Supplementing it with black pepper made it acceptable. The ribs. I consider myself a connoisseur, I travel the country. Texas, Carolinas, Memphis, Kansas City, Tennessee all with some frequency. I'm picky, you may not be. Ribs were bland no matter what style you like. That's fine, they provide sauces on the table. But the meat wasn't very good quality either. Tastes like it was cooked in a pressure cooker or a oven, no flavor. The fat marbling wasn't good, not moist or flavorful enough to make it worth working off the bone if it wasn't falling off. Honestly, I believe ribs at krogers deli up the road are superior, or get prepackaged pre-sauced and throw them on the grill and pretend you cooked them. However you cut it, Mark's ribs would be politely ignored by the judges any barbecue festival I've ever been to. Girlfriend had brisket combo. I'm not a brisket man but to me brisket is tender and smoky and with enough fat content to make it feel like you are eating delicious smokey meaty buttered super tender soft beef jerky. The brisket here didn't meet my criteria. It wasn't fatty enough to be tender and no smoke flavor. Her sweet potato fries had cinnamon sugar and were pretty good. Service was good. Portions were good. Restaurant clean. It was already 830pm so maybe I got there too late. For barbecue i won't be returning soon, I'll try somewhere else or make my own. read more

Cornbread muffins were very tasty and the sweet tea was the best I have had in etown. Coleslaw and Mac & cheese was very good and not too anything (I prefer vinegar slaw to mayo) and it had a little horseradish for some bite. Unfortunately the chicken was way too dry to eat and the fried corn cob was completely uneatable. I recommend the pork, slaw, potato salad, cornbread and Mac & cheese.
