    Side of okra $7
    Greg K.

Tried this Marlow's in Brookhaven for lunch today. It had been a few years since I visited a Marlow's and never this location. Very light lunch crowd. Service was quick and efficient. Nice relaxed quiet atmosphere. The menu seems limited. Not anywhere near the choices they had when I visited a Marlow's in the past. I elected to go with an app and a side instead of a burger or sandwich. Shrimp and crab nachos for $12.70 is a fairly small appetizer. It is 8 chips. But each is really loaded with a cheesy seafood dip. It is good but more of a dip than shrimp or crab. Most places would put the dip in a bowl and double the chips. But it works this way. My side of okra at $7 was nice. Generous portion of whole fried okra. Cooked lightly so they were still crisp. No frozen here these tasted fresh. The only thing I would add to the okra is a dipping sauce. Some thousand island/ranch or "special sauce" would have paired nicely with the okra. Add a soft drink for $3.25 and tip and lunch comes in at almost $30, which is what you pay for a nice quiet break for an hour. But I can't afford that every day. It was good. Nothing exceptional but nice. I wouldn't mind coming back.

    Dirty cherry soda

We just had our first visit to Marlow's and were so impressed! From the moment we walked in, we were treated with such kindness and great service. As first-time guests, they surprised us with a complimentary potato chip appetizer--super tasty and such a nice touch! I ordered the chicken sandwich and it was absolutely delicious--perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. My husband had the brisket grilled cheese, which he loved, especially with the seasoned fries (which were seriously addicting). Our daughter had the chicken panini and gave it two thumbs up! I also had a dirty cherry cola and it was so refreshing--sweet, fizzy, and the perfect pairing with the meal. Service was impeccable--our waiter was friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. You can tell this place really cares about their guests. We're already looking forward to coming back. Great food, great service, and a great overall experience. Highly recommend giving Marlow's a try if you haven't yet!

    Chicken Cesar salad

Cames to Marlow's to try out their new happy hour menu and was very pleased with the whole experience. They have some nice, festive drinks to choose from and we had the sliders and brussel sprouts to share as apps. We really liked both of them, and would definitely recommend them! I had the French dip for my entree while my boyfriend had a Cesar salad and they were both great as well. The French dip was super juicy and the salads were delicious, the only critique was that there wasn't enough chicken on the Cesar salad to make a full meal. Funny enough, I tried marlow's once 10-15 years ago and hated it, but I'm so glad I gave it another try as an adult because this time was amazing!

    Shrimp and oily cold grits

Visiting Atlanta for business I was so excited to see shrimp and grits (Northern girl who used to work in ATL) that I immediately placed a delivery order! I ordered the Shrimp and Grits, Parm Crab Dip, Tavern Wings and 2 San pellegrino waters. First I noticed no waters in my delivery. I called the driver who said sorry but that was it. Ok, nothing to drink with dinner. At least delivery was fast! Then I noticed none of the containers felt hot or even warm. The crab dip was a congealed solid mass. It came with plenty of saltines but little dip and it looked like something that had been sitting around. Pass. The wings looked sad, small, cold and dry. I ate one and tossed the rest. They had no seasoning, and simply tasted oily. Finally opened my beloved shrimp and grits. The delivery container had 2 sides - one side with 2 sad little grit patties and the other a pile of shrimp in what looked like an oily butter sauce. Having traveled all day and simply being starving at this point with no other options I mixed these 2 cold sides together and ate what I could. I never knew food could make you sad, but I am simply sad.

    Hummus

Up until I went to this restaurant for a work dinner, I never paid much attention to it because I didn't think they had any vegan options for me but I came to see they had a few, and they were mostly delicious! I only got a picture of the hummus, with harissa veggies and some raw cucumbers/carrots. I also tried their Tortilla Salad and their Buddha Bowl. The hummus was definitely my favorite, with the salad being a close second. That dressing was soooo good, I asked for one to take home so I could use it on one of my own salads! The Buddha bowl I didn't like at all, it was way too vinegary for me and there wasn't much flavor. The other thing is that I wish they had more vegan options, especially entree ones because there weren't many options for me to choose from. They have indoor, and outdoor seating under a tent with some heaters, but you probably won't need the heaters this time of year! They have a fully-functioning bar, where I got to have a Tommy's Favorite White Sangria which was very good and sweet. There is parking right in front of the building which made it easy to get to. Customer service was amazing! We had a large group with one host and they were patient with everyone, taking their time to listen to all the needs and wants. Orders were all correct, they did a phenomenal job. The food came out in a timely manner and tasted fresh! Check them out!

We came here for dinner yesterday. In my opinion, this place has so much more potential, but, for me, it was just OK. The parking situation is great! It looks like parking is readily available in the large and free parking lot. We walked into Marlow's, and waited a couple of minutes for someone to seat us. Most of the indoor dining and bar areas were empty, and I believe there were some customers dining in the outdoor covered patio area to the side of the restaurant. The thing that was pretty obvious to me was that that it was dark inside the restaurant, too dark for my liking. Most of the indoor seating are in comfortable booths, but they don't offer that much room for customers with bigger bellies. A few minutes after we were seated by the host in one of the booths and given menus, our server took our drink orders. About 5 minutes later, she brought our drinks and took our food orders. I ordered the Tavern Burger (Our Classic, Simple and Seasoned Perfectly, Romaine, Red Onion, Roma Tomato, Tomato Bacon Jam, Sesame Brioche Roll), and R ordered the Banh Mi Wrap (Glazed Chicken, Napa Cabbage, Cucumber, Cilantro, Vietnamese Sweet & Spicy Firecracker Sauce, Grilled Tortilla). 25 minutes later, our food was served by a food runner. I'm not sure why the food took so long, especially since I didn't see very much food coming out of the kitchen (I was able to see the activity of food leaving the kitchen). The burger looked great! The thick beef patty was cooked as I requested (medium well), but had a "dry" texture and was almost flavorless. The bun had a nice flavor and was perfect. Halfway through eating my burger, I noticed that tomato hadn't been put in my burger, but I didn't mention this to our server. The side Caesar salad that I had ordered as part of the burger meal was very light on the dressing. I was going to ask the server for more dressing for me to put on the salad myself, and some mayo to help add some needed moisture, but she didn't come back around, and I just kept slowly eating my meal until it was gone. The last thing I tried was the small slice of pickle, which I spit out because it tasted like it was going bad. When the server finally came back to our table to check on us, I told her about the pickle tasting awful, and she told me that it was a sour pickle. I'm glad they put it on the side and hadn't sliced it up and put it on the burger. R liked his banh mi wrap, but didn't like that the service started out great then went downhill quickly. By the end of our meal, we were left waiting for a while, and only got our check after waving over the host and another server.

I do use AI to write these easily, so pardon the clunkiness lol…read more The Food The menu here is a really cool take on elevated yet comfortable Southern food. After a few visits, I've tried a good variety of the menu: * **Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich:** This is served open-face and uses a mix of Sichuan and Calabrian chili. It is absolutely amazing, but fair warning: it is *hot*. Even if you're used to Sichuan spice, this one may still be tough to deal with, but it's still incredibly flavorful and enjoyable. Just keep in mind that they don't adjust the heat level for this one. * **The Greens:** These are wonderful. They have a rich, savory pork flavor and are easily a must-order for me every single time. * **Shrimp and Grits:** This has a fantastic sauce that strikes the perfect balance--not too heavy, but not watery either. My only minor wish is that they'd add some andouille sausage to it (even if raised the price), but it's still a really well-executed dish. * **Southern Pho:** Really great and super hearty. It's a comforting bowl, though probably best enjoyed during the winter months. * **Drinks:** The cocktails are always creative and well-made, and they keep a really interesting beer list on hand too. ### 2. The Ambience The vibe here is great. The interior feels like a charming, cozy little house you'd find in Savannah. I especially love the bar area, which has these really cool copper chandelier lights that give the space a warm, inviting glow. ### 3. The Service The staff has been consistently friendly and welcoming every single time I've been here. The Summary I honestly feel lucky to live close to this place. It doesn't get much love or mentions from the Atlanta social media crowd and local press (the good news is you won't encounter a lot of annoying people lol).. I'm a fan though.

After our appetizer, we waited about 30-40 minutes for the rest of our items which took longer than we thought. They did give us some house made popcorn to keep us busy. Jahjoy pork belly: Tasty & tendor. I loved the papaya salad which left a refreshing contrast. A bit too saucy for me. Flavors were strong. Squid ink bucatini: our favorite! Must get dish - bucatini is perfectly al dente & the spicy sauce was very flavorful. Jumbo shrimp was delicious, and the anchovy on top left a nice strong flavor. Red snapper: This has some Vietnamese influences with the sauce. It was a lighter dish which was just OK for me, I would have liked the fish to have a crispier skin. Not much flavor besides the sauce which is inspired by canh chua. Wagyu flank steak: cooked to perfection and flavored well, loved the celery puree which was much tastier than we expected celery to be. Dessert was mint chocolate cake which was very tasty. I wish the cake was softer and meltier in the center but it was still good. Malt gelato was delicious. Could def taste the mintiness. Creme pat along the edges was a nice add to the cake with cacao nibs and popcorn for a textural contrast. I enjoyed it!! Overall we had a great meal and could tell the ingredients were very fresh. The presentation for all the dishes was beautiful!! We can tell the chef puts care in his food :) Appreciated the personal touch - they gave a handwritten card to my husband for his birthday!

I ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp as my appetizer and the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and brussels (I dont like coleslaw). I was told the bacon wrapped shrimp was a new menu item. For $19? They were cool. The fried chicken was really good. It was still steaming hot inside, when I took my first bite. The chicken was tender and had a good crunch to it. The brussels were okay. I typically like a more sweet glaze on my brussels but they did the job. I liked the mashed potatos, they were a little runny; the gravy made up for that though. I'm not a biscuit person but the biscuit that came with this meal was very soft, fluffy, moist, and had butter throughout. It was a bummer the only choices of hot sauce available were Tabasco and Cholula. I usually like Texas Pete, Crystal, or Louisiana hot sauce in my chicken. I WILL say, the monkey bread was SOOOOO good. So soft, warm, with apples and vanilla ice cream. If I knew it was this good I would have ordered 2 to go. You get the good a membership discount if you bring people in to dine-in as well. There's a lot that goes into it. There should be a picture of it in my review so check that out. Oddly enough, they also have trips that they go on for people who want to visit different wine venues. It's really surprising because that isn't a small thing to take group trips to some random part to sample wine. But if you're a wine drinker, and you have the the money to spend, this would be cool to be around like-minded people. They really have a lot to offer! I thought it was a really good random walk-in for me, I enjoyed it. The atmosphere was good, the selections were really good, the customer service was really good, it was great on all parts.

But it wasn't like that at all. I had never been before, even though I've passed it so many times. I finally decided, "Let me just try it." The cashier was really nice and explained how everything worked. I asked her what her favorite salad was, but instead of going with her recommendation, I trusted my instincts and built mine based on the ingredients that stood out to me. I ordered the Polynesian chili mango salad with mint and added grilled shrimp. I wasn't a huge fan of the shrimp, but the salad itself was so good that I still ate the whole thing. The flavors were layered and intentional. Not generic, not bland. I love when salads don't taste like an afterthought. What really impressed me was the hot sauce bar. That blew me. They had multiple hot sauces, and as someone who's basically a hot sauce connoisseur, I appreciate that because different hot sauces pair better with different foods. That detail alone elevated the experience. The space was big, clean, bright, and full of color. It felt fresh. Overall, I was genuinely impressed. I definitely want to go back and try the other salads.
