So this was a spot that actually had a pub feel to it. Kind of a dive bar feel to it. Which is totally fine. You go in and it's a little bit dark and they have TV so you can watch sports but it's nothing fancy but it gets straight to the point. You'll come in and most likely sit at the bar which is where a lot of the action is. You park outside and have your own parking lot so you have to worry about that but it's very friendly and all the bartenders are really friendly as well. I had been one time and they acted like they were trying to get to know me and I appreciate it that customer service. I just came in for a quick meal to get my macros together, so I got the brussel sprouts and a chicken wrap. The chicken wrap was pretty good. Nothing crazy or nothing amazing or not. Nothing special, but it was still pretty good. The fries were steak fries, cooked pretty well. The brussel sprouts were good. It was just basic bar food so I don't have anything bad to say but just par if that makes any sense. read more

It is usually hard to find authentic feeling, old school pubs around where my girlfriend and I live. Surprisingly, The King George Tavern is right next to where she lives. We have gone several times over the past few months and it really does have that authentic and old school pub kind of ambiance to it. Many of the folks in the place were locals and regulars. There was a lot of laughter and a lot of visiting going on. The food is good. The menu is a Pub menu. There is a good beer selection and some wines to choose from as well. The service was excellent. Our food always comes hot to the table and we enjoy the selection. It's not fancy, but it is worth a visit. read more

The King George Tavern has been a go-to trivia spot for my friends and I for the past few months and the experience keeps us coming back. They host Team Trivia every Thursday at 8pm which can be difficult for a younger group, but is still fun. The ambiance of the bar is great. It's definitely a little limited on seating but that allows the bar to have a cozy vibe and really feel like you're in a British Pub. The bar also has some golf arcade games if trivia isn't your thing. Staffing can sometimes be a little light, but when staying for a while and playing trivia it isn't too noticeable. Most of the food is typical bar food and for all my previous visits it was decent but nothing special. However, on my most recent visit I tried their signature meatloaf and it was a level above all the other food and something I will definitely get again. The kitchen is the star of the show here. We each had a special "au jus" sandwich which was absolutely delicious: hearty, flavorful, and very satisfying. Not impressed. Got the Spicy patty melt with a wedge salad. The meat on the patty melt was dry with little or no flavor. It tasted like it had been sitting in warming liquid and thrown on the grill for 5 seconds. The sauce was sloppy and the onions were limp. Might Be The Best Bar in Northern Atlanta Good for a late evening dining. The burgers are always good and you can get them made with beef, chicken or turkey and fixed a variety of ways. They also make a very good bean burger. It's definitely dark and pubby and seems old although it's new. We find the wait staff to be very attentive and pleasant. King George may have the best ambiance of any bar in the area. It's friendly, with great bartenders, a ton of regulars and just the right feel. The food is very good. Their Friday night prime rib is a whole thing and the appetizer menu - which just changed - has some great stuff. Try the new buffalo chicken dip (have them warm it up) and the cheese sticks. The only drawback is unfortunately a significant one: the pricing is way out of line with competing bars and has recently gone even higher. Beer prices can be $2 or more higher than anyplace else with the well drink situation even worse. We all know inflation is happening and prices will inevitably grow higher, but KGT's pricing is way too high to stay competitive. This place is somewhere I'd maybe come back for a drink but not the food. Step inside and it has that old, English pub feel, with lots of dark wood and some British themed decor. We were the only folks sitting at a booth when we came in around 7 on a weeknight, although the bar had a number of customers. The bartender took our food order and it came out decently quick, but the food itself was just ok. My fish sandwich with mango salsa was alright, but that's about it. The parking lot is small and cramped, but it's plenty large enough for the size of the places. There is also a Subway and a Marcos Pizza so not much pressure from those places for parking spaces. This is a 5 Star review because it is 5 Stars for what it is meant to be...just a small local pub. If you are looking for a fine dining experience, check out some other 5 Stars reviews. The atmosphere is just local English Pub. It's super clean and a little brighter than some other local spots. You'll find a good menu with solid bar and pub food. Great daily lunch specials. TVs and two Golden Tee machines. There is a fairly large amount of regular Golden Tee players that hang out here. Sometimes me. It's not particularly loud. They have trivia one night a week for those who like that. Pam runs the place during the weekdays and she is awesome. Pam is a well known commodity in the local area. Nice local neighborhood bar. This bar is a part of the Dunwoody Restaurant Group so the menu is consistent with its other sister bars. The food here is affordable and really good. My favorites are the Lamb Wrap, the Chicken Tenders and the Corned Beef Egg Rolls. Pre-pandemic they had trivia nights. I'm not sure if they still do this but it was really fun. It was Adult Trivia so some of the questions were a bit raunchy. Definitely for adults only. Biggest Con is the music. Its always Rock or Country. I would like if they mixed in some top 40. King George Tavern is located on Chamblee Dunwoody Road, just north of I-285 and across from the Kroger plaza that also houses Farm Burger. The parking lot is small, but it is adequate for a moderately busy weekend afternoon. Interior of the tavern feels like a European pub, while the outside of the tavern has lawn chairs and patio furniture that is comfortable for small to medium sized groups. The menus are printed to look like newspapers, which I thought was cool. Service is prompt and excellent both at the bar and at a table. On the Menu (Front Page News?): The menu has mostly traditional pub fare - sandwiches, burgers, and soups. There are a bunch of different salads, which include Cobb and salmon. More randomly, you can order fish tacos. What I Tried: Aberdeen Smoked Salmon Salad - Don't recall the exact price but the salad was around $10. The salad consisted of spinach, a lot of smoked salmon, a good amount of feta cheese, and diced red onions. I liked the abundance of fish in the salad, which had a good smoky flavor that was not too strong. At the same time, I think the salad could have been improved with more dressing. You could taste the dressing, but there wasn't enough to add a lot of flavor to the whole salad. Verdict: Four stars for decent food and great atmosphere. I'm always a fan of places where you can eat outside and enjoy good weather. The outside furniture is comfortable and the service is excellent - which in my opinion matters even more than the food when you're at a pub. read more

A waitress came to take our drink order. As she walked away I tried to show her the LocalFlavor.com coupon but she turned and said I don't need that now. She came back with the drinks and took our food order. I just started to take a sip of my drink and notice what I thought was a coaster. I could hardly read it because it was a dark booth. It said We do not accept Groupon and /or Local Flavor coupons. I asked the waitress about it she said she would talk to the manager. After our food came out the manager refused to accept my paid discount coupon. I had a group of 24 that were in town for a training class and wanted somewhere close that we could do a "group dinner" at during our 4 day class. This establishment was perfect! Walking distance from the hotel and the perfect fit for our group. Smaller place so I did call the day before to see if they could accommodate our party and they had no issues with doing so. From the time we walked in until the time we left this place was spot on!!! The staff is fantastic. The food was perfect. I need to give a "shout out" to the two folks in the kitchen who never flinched a second and got the appetizers and main dishes out timely, tasty and very, very enjoyable! If you are looking for a cozy, neighborhood feel good place to grab a beer, some awesome pub (English/Irish) themed food in a cool pub like atmosphere.......this is the place to go and try. It is a part of Dunwoody Group restaurants and I believe they have the same menu as my longtime friend "Dunwoody Tavern" down the street. I appreciate the salt/vinegar crisps. The wings are tasty but not as consistent as I would like. I like the attentive bartenders but sometimes table service is slow if the place gets slammed. The place gets slammed often because it's cozy and new. The St. Patrick's day crowd was quite amusing and the place was festive and lively. They ran food specials that incorporated loads of corned beef. I did not understand why there were no drink specials on such a drink worthy day. I wish I could make the bar longer or knock a wall out to create more space because the popularity can make it feel very crowded. Nonetheless, I will remain loyal! read more

The first time we had a hiccough, and half of our order was missing- in a feat of amazing customer service, TKGT sent one of their own employees to deliver the missing parts to us. FOOD: Triple Dip- SUPER garlicky hummus (which I love), deliciously creamy goat cheese, and salty olive tapenade... This is a flavor and texture explosion in a dish. My husband and I both remarked on how surprised we were by how much we liked a "dip trio" dish, as usually you only really like one, or MAYBE two if you're lucky. Chicken and Waffle Croquettes- Unfortunately, I don't have another word to describe these other than "gross". The ground chicken is REALLY dry, and the maple dipping sauce is more like some sort of vinegary based sauce with maple flavoring. All together, it just didn't work, at all. We each ate one, and threw the rest away. Reuben- I have never really liked reubens, but now I crave them after having eaten them from here. The quality of their ingredients is on point. This sandwich is salty, slightly sour, savory, and ordered with a side of sweet potato fries, you get some sweetness in there too. Sweet Potato Fries- These don't travel well, but I am willing to bet when they are hot, that they are fantastic. The flavor is delicious. King George Tavern is a little pub on Chamblee-Dunwoody, across the street from the Kroger and Farm Burger. Even though this review is about the King George Tavern in particular, it could apply more generally to most of the restaurants owned by the Dunwoody Restaurant Group. This is to say the Dunwoody Tavern, O'Brien's, The Royal Oak, The Ship and Anchor, the Bat and Ball and the Iron Horse tavern. While individual differences remain between each, they all share a similar, and in some cases, identical, menus. I'm writing a review about the King George Tavern because it was the most recent one of these restaurants I've visited. The pub has a nice, cozy feel to it and a friendly staff. It's the sort of place that you'd want to have a few beers on a cold, winter night. Also, King George's seems to be a bit more family-friendly than the average establishment known or the service of alcohol, so take that as you will, good or bad. Personally, I like my bars free of children but clearly not all parents would agree with me. The food is quite good, if you don't like bar food, and if you don't, then we can't be friends. The meat loaf with ground beef, Italian sausage, spinach leaves no room for complaints. Neither did the Buffalo Blue Burger, topped with Buffalo sauce and blue cheese and served with a side of sweet potato fries. As a bonus, I asked for my burger cooked medium, and it was actually cooked medium, and not medium rare or medium well. Incredible! This has become my go-to bar in Dunwoody. The staff is exceptional, the beer variety is good, the food is solid, and you can always strike up a conversation with other patrons... Always. I've had most food items on the menu, and it's much better than other bar fare. Last time I got nachos with the house special hot sauce (only available upon request) and they were really good. Basically, if you're looking for poseurs, this is not the place for you. A delicious new neighborhood joint! My first and so far only experience with DWG at Bat and Ball was pretty good, though nothing amazing. But I was excited to try King George Tavern being that it's within walking distance of home. Service was very friendly; our server told us about the specials, what was good, popular, and what she enjoyed on the menu. Beverages were promptly refilled which is always important to me, and she checked on us regularly. Very friendly. We got the Irish spring rolls which were like a reuben egg roll. Good but not as good as those from Olde Blind Dog in Brookhaven or across the street at Goldbergs. We split the lobster grilled cheese with French onion soup and the meatloaf. The grilled cheese had plenty of lobster meat and was very rich and cheesy. The soup was also fantastic. Would definitely get both again. Meatloaf was delicious and very filling. Might look to try more on the menu before going back to it. We didn't have desserts but she described them to us and they sounded tempting. Ugh. You ever see the movie "At The World's End?" Basically the main characters are hitting all their old teenage stomping grounds 20 years later as society contributing adults. There is a scene where the guys have this Groundhog Day-type experience at one of their bars. I had the exact same experience at The King George Tavern. I didn't realize it was the same company that owned Dunwoody Tavern--and even though we really didn't enjoy our experience there, we thought we should be fair to their sister restaurant and give it a shot. Maybe at least for a couple beers and a few apps. That wasn't going to happen. We order two beers and one is incredibly flat--no carbonation at all. I wasn't in the mood to even bring it up to the bartender (who was very nice) already having come in with lower expectations. The food selection is extensive for a smaller place and everything my wife and I ate was good. The place is older, a little dark and decorated exactly the way I was hoping. However this is only a 4 star place if it wasn't for the service we got from the manager who waited on us. I was convinced he had to own the place as much as he really seemed to love his job.
