I recently read this review about Lauren and how she was a horrible bartender and I have to completely disagree with this woman Julien S. I have been going to Marlow's for many many years and Lauren has been nothing but accommodating and pleasant. She has been a staple in that company and if it weren't for her, I would not be a regular. I cannot believe that someone would waste their time writing multiple paragraphs about about somebody being so terrible about that is a pleasure to be around and also the reason I come there. We had a wonderful Friday night meal at Marlowe in East Cobb recently. Our waiter Tarique was so helpful with us as we struggled to pull up the menu from the barcode over the table. Although we had trouble, this is a great safeguard for COVID19 to keep us safe. All employees also wore masks. We had really excellent signature cocktails - a berry mojito and a blueberry mule. The special appetizer was roasted cauliflower covered with cheese and it was too die for. My salmon was perfect and my husband's burger was delicious. And we were so pleased that they could do crème brûlée to go. It was creamy and perfect. The executive chef even checked on us to see if we liked his appetizer creation. It was for my elderly grandfather, manager came over said "we can only play news or games" ..... it's on NBC network which shows nightly news before hand, and it's a game. Marlow's is a chain, and, yet, one of the better upscale restaurant/bar options in the East Cobb area, overall. That may say more about the competitive set, than this location. The entire brand chose a smart formula of operational excellence during the pandemic (decent taste + speed + convenience). For context, we have deep exposure to more than one location before and during the pandemic. Unfortunately, we've had 2 meals comped in the last 8 weeks because we needed to call the GM about the inconsistent experiences in the last few weeks. Tonight, there were 3 critical issues in our 1 family order (e.g., not having a protein in a kids dish or lacking a salad dressing), and the response was, "ask for the GM first next time when you order." Sweet. Will I go back? Maybe. Still debating. But it does seem counter to the Marlow's Tavern Rules inscribed in the menu... Finally, yes, these are '1st world problems' in a pandemic world. This is why we have waited so long to even begin making complaints. There were several more incidents we ignored for this reason. Enjoy. Always busy, always miss managed since the day it opened! We get there is nothing else in East Cobb, but that shouldn't be your claim to fame. A half hour wait is over an hour. Half of the tables in the restaurant are empty and they don't know how to fill them in a Friday night. The service is always subpar and the menu has been consistently mediocre. Stopped in for lunch on a Tuesday and found this to be a decent bar/restaurant for a burger. There were two of us and we came in at the tail end of the lunch hour (1pm) and the place was probably half full. Getting seated took a few minutes - we were just about to seat ourselves and a server came by and took us to our table. She was very nice and had another server come over right away to get our drink orders. We found service friendly, but they seem to be short staffed - three or four servers, one cook (?), and another guy wandering around who may be a manager. servers seemed to be stretched pretty thin, but they were running and we didn't wait at all. I had the Black & Blue burger, which I found to be very good. A little heavy with the Gorgonzola cheese sauce, easily scraped off to the right amount for me. My companion had the chicken sandwich, which she said was very good. We didn't wait, but you could see staff was running which may translate into longer wait times during a busier time. With so many existing and new locations around town, it's a wonder I haven't tried Marlow's sooner. I visited the spot for a casual lunch and I'm glad I finally did! Marlow's has a pub vibe, with dark interiors and a prominent bar. They also have a large open kitchen, allowing guests to see all the behind the scenes action. We started with the hummus, which I wasn't terribly impressed with. BUT, I was majorly impressed with their caesar salad! I ordered the French dip sandwich and selected the caesar salad as my side. The sandwich was good, but I couldn't eat the salad fast enough! It's one of the best - if not the best caesar salad ever. More times than not, caesar salads are a pitiful excuse of a salad - especially as a side order. Marlow's managed to take a boring salad & elevate it to the next level! My vegetarian friend had the veggie burger and enjoyed it. I've never been a fan of veggie burgers, so I took his word for it and didn't try it. The one thing I didn't like - they use paper straws! I didn't think we would see that change in Atlanta for some time to come. Yay for the environment but boo for the mouth. Sipping through a paper straw is such an odd sensation that manages to make you even more thirsty as you're trying to quench your thirst - like you have gauze in your mouth! Marlow's Tavern at Merchant's Walk (East Cobb) is a nice place to relax and enjoy their good food. They have a Wagyu burger that's mouth-watering enjoyment on a bun. My friend had a Salmon Salad which was tasty, he said, and looked it. Our lady server was a hoot, too (I forgot her name . A few weeks later I took my wife there for lunch. She enjoyed her burger, too. If you're at Merchant's Walk around lunchtime, duck behind Kohls (in the left-hand corner) to enjoy a good meal. read more

Katie our server was amazing plus the manager on staff was very interested and vested in our visit which was a PLUS. We had this place bookmarked to try when back in Atlanta and was happy to have the chance to do so. We started with a shrimp & crab nachos-appetizer which actually was at first tasty (we were hungry) then that turned into stomach aches which lead to us all leaving it alone. Between the 5 of us we had Burgers (Black and Blue & Tavern Burger) , Blacken fish tacos with grits on the side, Chicken Panini and grill cheese (the baby). The service overshadowed the food as the food was like a 3 of 5 star but the service added the additional star. The server was very accommodating with us having a booth and a busy toddler. She brought out things for our son to play with and she played with him as well. We will go back and try something else in the future as the service for us was awesome so we will check this place out again. read more

After buying another round of shoes for Dylan, age 2, it was time to grab a quick lunch before we heading back to Cornelius. My son and his wife recommended this restaurant and it was a great choice. Nice airy sports bar theme and a very ecclectic menu. My daughter-in-law and I ordered the Cuban Sandwich which was excellent Very good pulled pork that was nice and moist and properly prepared. My wife had Crabcakes which she really like while my Son had the Shrimp and Grits. Dylan had fish stix with a side of steamed broccoli which is his favorite vegetable. Took my Mother here for years, at least once a month. She tells me she no longer wants to come here. The reason- The hostess yells, with a very loud voice, to the other employees. She shouts from the main floor area to the Kitchen station, right in your ear when you are trying to enjoy your meal. Completely unacceptable! This is not the Varsity Lady! Please get rid of this employee so we can come back and enjoy the great food and the other respectable servers and bartenders. read more

We LOVE our Marlow's! Not only is the food fabulous but their staff is phenomenal! Made a reservation to host my daughter's Sweet 16 and they came through with flying colors! Literally EVERYONE took care of EVERYTHING! We brought our own sparkling grape juice to mix with glitter and the staff took care of it for us! Please stop using your first booth as a host stand. We thought the table was dirty we didn't know. It's helpful to write down all the items that are ordered by the guest and remember to put them into the computer. One app was left off.. When you drop off a drink and there's an empty glass please remove that empty glass and don't continue leaving it there. Please drop appetizer share plates off prior to appetizers arriving so you don't have to ask runner for plates. If you're going to have firecracker shrimp and it's going to be a tempura fried shrimp please don't cover it in a soggy sauce that therefore makes the shrimp soggy. Also if the word firecracker is in it a little bit of spice would've been nice. If you cannot figure out how to drizzle a spicier sauce on the shrimp I would suggest putting the sauce on the side so you can at least find the shrimp under all that sauce. The feta cheese that was in the sizzling spinach dip was very off-putting. It did not go with dish. It was not crumbly more rubbery. why was it called sizzling anyway? I would highly recommend putting the side salad on a separate plate then with the burger because the salad that arrived at my table looked completely hideous, the amount of I'm assuming is crouton dust overwhelmed the warm lettuce that was completely saturated with an unflavored sort of dressing. Sat under the heat lamp much? When you are cooking fries please don't overcook them or cook them till they are hard for they will remain on the plate and end up in the trash. If you need to change the oil more often please do so. That makes for pretty fries. Adding some sort of burger set up on the side of the plate will allow the burger to look more like a tavern burger than a fast food burger. The grill man does a good job cooking the burgers to temp. Congratulations. And as far as the crème brûlée if you could get the temperature right it was both warm and cold and barely set. It was on the sabayon side then brulee. When every single plate is left on the table and it's up to the guest to stack it to make room, that is an issue. All in all, I would not have allowed the homeless lady out front begging for money to eat ( she was very polite) to have eaten inside your restaurant. If you're the kind of manager that looks at this kind of review and goes "whatever" than I feel sorry for your guests. Having had over 40 years experience as a chef manager and every other position there is in the restaurant business I was pretty let down on my birthday. Thank you. This place has definitely gone downhill. Quality and portion sizes are not the same as they used to be. Their fries used to be the best thing on the menu, now they are cut thicker and nothing special. Errors are consistently made by the kitchen compared to the way things have been ordered. read more

This terrific gastropub is a great spot to meet friends for food and drinks -- and with locations throughout metro Atlanta, I can easily see how this could quickly become a favorite neighborhood watering hole. On recent visit to Marlow's Merchant Walk location, I enjoyed a tasty plate of crispy Kettle Chips, and a delicious pair of their 'Infamous' Fish Tacos, paired with an side of their very addictive Asparagus Fries. Service was friendly throughout our visit, and the warmer weather made sitting on the covered patio a joy. My only complaint is that the beer selection, for a gastropub, was a bit lacking. I enjoyed 2 outstanding local draft IPAs on my visit, but there were only 5 or 6 taps on the menu, and half were non-craft domestics. There's a broader selection of bottled craft beers, but it would be nice to see 2 or even three times as many options available on draft. Marlow's Tavern is a classy, welcoming neighborhood pub with good food, great service, and a fun, family-friendly environment. I'll visit often when I'm in metro Atlanta, and would be a regular if they ever opened up a location in Charlotte. read more

I'm giving this place 2 stars only because we were not treated nice. Our waitress seemed sweet at first. She got our drinks and asked what we wanted but we weren't ready at the time. I hate to make it a race issue but we were the only black couple dining in so I already felt uncomfortable. Our server completely ignored us after getting our drinks. I watched as she helped every other table but ours. I felt it was very strange that as were walking out she didn't even acknowledge us. She was also standing near the door when we walked out. I did pay for my sweet tea I took two sips of but I definitely won't be coming back. read more

It breaks my heart to have to give a less than stellar review to Marlow's since it's clear I have always been a super fan but some changes to their menu and service leaves me with no choice. I've been to Marlow's probably about 5 times in the past 2 months and while I still like them but it's just not the same. For starters, let's talk about the elimination of their black bean burger. This was one of my favorite healthy options in the menu. It was substantial and great flavor profile. Then they took it away supposedly to try to meet market demand for more vegan dishes... Bad idea! And I know I'm not the only one who has complained about this. Just over the weekend a woman personally complained to her server saying she had eaten the new option but she was never going to order it again. When I had It, I saw the chef walking around and voiced my feelings about it. Their new "vegan" option is frankly disgusting. It is bright red and looks like raw meat that can't even hold together. Marlow's: Stay in your lane!!! Another item that is another all time favorite is the chickpea fries. However, the last few times I have ordered them they have come out WAY oversalted/overseasoned. These were nice and had a smooth flavor profile however I don't know if they changed the flour or the condiments but they have messed them up. We have also had a poor experience with the eggplant tempura(it did not taste like anything except heaviness) and the wakyu beef burger (it was good but TINY). Finally, we have had overall good service except for the last time we were there. The lady taking care of us was in an awful hurry for us to decide what we wanted, never refilled our waters, and was giving us the check as we were trying to order dessert. It was a complete disaster. I also want to point out that the weekend manager is the NICEST guy but seems WAY overworked and stressed. He should not be expected to man the entrance by himself. Last time we were there literally 3 servers walked by and completely ignored us and finally the manager came to sit us after clearly having to put out some sort of metaphorical fire. I come here about once a year on special occasions. The last two visits were during their Sunday brunch but I have been during other times/days. Ok, so where do I begin? This place has an excellent buffet for the price. Filled with all the traditional favorites and some o retesting new ones, this brunch has it all. The place has never been overcrowded or too busy either. Now since this is a chain I don't think this one is worth coming out to for any reason above the others. Service sometimes lacks, the plates I get sometimes aren't clean and the wait (for drinks during brunch) can be unreasonable. read more

Absolutely loved everything about my most recent visit to Marlow's Tavern. The servers were excellent, knowledgeable and friendly. We made a family trip on this occasion, so we had a baby stroller with us. We were able to store it away so it would be out of the way while we dined. We started with the Firecracker Shrimp which came with a spicy sauce as well as a sweet chili sauce. We liked both sauces, but my wife and I liked the sweet chili sauce the best. I had a Orchard Manhattan cocktail which was a little bit strong for me and wasn't quite able to finish it, which was probably wise since I had to drive my family afterwards. For the main entree, I ordered the Grilled Center Cut Filet and my wife had the Grilled Chicken Stack. The filet was grilled PERFECTLY! It was nice, moist and juicy. Everything came together just right. The chicken was equally amazing with its squash carbonara, apple-wood smoked bacon, sauteed spinach, and sun-dried tomato sauce. We thought perhaps we would have some leftovers, but we couldn't stop eating it and wished we had more. We finished off the night with chocolate cake dessert. I loved that it had a nice crunch to it, and any time I can get chocolate cake a la mode made right, it's hard to resist. Overall it was an excellent dinner, and I can't wait to go back! read more

One of my favorite places to go in East Cobb. While neighboring restaurants try, one can not argue this establishment is a true gem. The service is always spot on. When you walked through the door you are greeted and seated right away. Servers are knowledgeable about the ever changing menu. Very accommodating, kind and prompt. There is a constant need to provide excellent hospitality. The food, is consistently exceptional. My go to favorite is the Caesar salad. All the side items are delicious. Fried okra is one of the best. Especially the because they fry the whole okra. The jalapeño grits is a perfect consistently of savory and spicy. I love mix matching the side items. My husband loves the "Royale with Cheese". Always cooked to perfection. I'm not sure what management is doing (this location is always consistent all around), but I hope they keep it up. Whether you're meeting up with for a business lunch or coming out with the family or friends , Marlow's in East Cobb goes above and beyond. read more

I have a new favorite sandwich! And I got it here!! Banh Mi Grilled Chicken Wrap with pickled vegetables, cilantro, cabbage and a zesy sauce. Coupled with their house salad -- edamame, various greens, a sprinkling of nuts and gorgonzola -- this may have been the perfect lunch. Even the homemade, herb-infused dressing was delicious. Met a girlfriend, sat outside for hours gabbling, and walked away with new-found appreciation of Marlow's. read more
