I'm giving them two stars because the therapists were helpful. My issues are to do with the PHP…read morehouse. My son was there for two-three weeks. Initially, it went well. He had no problem with the other residents, but the house techs/managers, whatever they're called, were another story. First of all, my son has serious mental illness and alcoholism. He really wanted to get sober and because RU has a focus on music, we felt it would be a good fit for him. He is a talented guitar player and has been trying to find his place in the world of music. He was happy to have a place to go and participate in a PHP. Then, the first incident. They lost a psych med that had just been filled for him. So he went without his medication for most of the day. When he got upset about it, they told him he needed to learn to "live life on life's terms". Really? That's what you say to someone who is struggling to stay sober and needs those meds to function on a basic level? They did finally manage to get half a prescription filled that they paid for, then told him that his mother would have to pay for the other half. Uh...no. You lost them, you buy them. This was the first call I made. I spoke with a house manager, who yes ma'amed me to death. He assured me they would be giving him his meds. He finally got them that evening. I did get to speak with a nurse who assured me that I would not be required to pay for any of the lost medication. Each day brought something new. He went to get his meds and the person passing them told him that his long hair made him "look gay". Not huge - but inappropriate. He and several other housemates were ill and taken to urgent care. He was diagnosed with flu and the doctor sent a prescription for Tamiflu. They did not pick up the prescription. So, he stayed sick. The doctor told him not to go to programming if he had a fever. He woke up the day after with a fever and told the house manager that he wasn't going to programming. He was then kicked out of the program. No place to go. No money. Sick with the flu. He called me, completely distraught. I was at work and I had to take time out of my day to call the clinical manager (Douglas). I was enraged. He listened to my ranting, and informed me that my son was "toxic to the household", and was threatening the staff, or cursing them out. I told him exactly what had been going on, and that my son did not want to go. To his credit, he did go speak with my son and apologized when he found out what had been happening. However, at that point, the damage had been done. I have never, ever heard my son so down and depressed. He felt that he had no one there to talk to. He ended up leaving the next day and stayed at an airbnb for a few days. He was to the point of talking about suicide. I am happy that he instead connected with sober friends and is moving into a sober living house. I do not recommend Recovery Unplugged. We had such hope and this was a huge letdown. Counselor Tracy was wonderful, and he did like his case manager as well, but he PHP house needs a major staff overhaul. People who are trying to recover need a supportive environment with people who have clinical expertise. I know he was not the only one who had this type of experience.

Please read this review before making the same mistake a made. I have been stuggling with this…read moreproblem since 2016 and Recovery Unplugged in Florida and Annandale Virginia have helped me process so many challenges and traumatic events. I made the mistake to not read any reviews and trusted the recomendations thinking I was going to get the help and care that Recovery Unplugged has always provided me with. Turns out my therapist was not a Pshycologist and they were dragging me along. They DO NOT facilitate in house H & I meetings and only take clients to 2/3 meetings a week. The house is packed with 18 guys and filled with flies, there are times where there is no food or drinks and you have to wait 24 hours or eat whatever is left on the pantry. You are only there to be passed around and be separated from your old lifestyle. The groups are repetitive clients fall asleep because they can't engage or motivate them. They advertise YOGA and GYM and this means a garage with one yoga mat and a 3 pieces of worn out equipment. They only have one technician for 18 clients. This person disclosed that she loves working there but they are always undertaff and to quote them "betwen us they can't retain anyone because the pay is way low" On my last morning a pipe broke and we had brown (feces/urine) water draining on top of the kitchen cabinets and stove. I had to leave because I was getting ill. The moment I sign the farewell papers the receptionist came running she said I was trespassing, called the cops and threaten me. They discharge me without meds and had me wait outside. Then she came back and said that they were making an exception and getting my meds. Once she gave them to me she yelled "Now leave my property, you are trespasing", the level of humiliation motivated me to write this and hoping that nobody goes through this experience. This was not the Recovery Unppluged a lot of us have the pleasure of knowing! Anyone that goes to the Florida Location and knows the prestigious name Richie Suppa will understand that this is not the standard of care you receive when trusting the Clinicians at Recovery Unplugged. In Florida both PHP and Residential staff actually care about you. They will motivate you and help you find a sponsor. They will take you to meetings and provide groups that challenge your spirit. Therapist and staff in FLL like Ana, Danny, or Brittanie in Virgnia have changed my life for the better. What happened in Austin was a misrepresentation of a place I Appreciate. Iddle time did nothing good for me other than wan't to truly do the work and never be scammed again.

SATG provided exactly that. I appreciated the one-on-one sessions, as opposed to the 2-3 patients at a time approach used elsewhere. This personal attention made me feel that my treatment was tailored specifically to me rather than just going through the motions. Kelly was my primary therapist, and she was both thorough and professional. She set goals at the beginning of my treatment and closely tracked my progress. Her encouragement as we approached those goals was greatly appreciated. Kelly explained each exercise and its benefits clearly, which I found valuable as someone who relies on information. She also provided exercises for me to do at home and regularly inquired about my progress or any setbacks during our off time. I also had a few sessions with Lee, who was equally skilled. SATG keeps detailed records of your progress, ensuring a smooth transition if another therapist needs to take over. Both Kelly and Lee are friendly and kind individuals. I will definitely return to SATG if and when the need arises.

Recovery Unplugged should get 10 stars out of 5! Their patience is unlimited and they work with…read moreyou from day one until after you get out of the program. The offer detox, residential, IOP, OP, and sober living as well as counseling. Not only do they integrate music into the program, they also accept any recovery program, so if you are not into AA or NA you can try Smart or The Buddhist approach, or a different modality. They don't care, as long as it fits you, and makes you better. I, personally, went with Refuge Recovery strictly in the beginning but attended a many AA meetings because of the scarcity of the Refuge meetings. Later I heard someone talking about step 4 in group and decided that was therapy and I needed it and went with AA and Refuge. At RU you are free to make your recovery path your own. The food at detox and IOP did leave something to be desired (but they are working on it) and the food at residential was fantastic! When you are in between residential and IOP they have you in a very comfortable house and give you a generous allowance to buy your own food. When you are in IOP you of course live on your own, or in sober living. RU's sober living homes are very nice, safe, and secure. You supply your own food and coffee but the house provides cleaning products, furnishings, dishes, cooking supply's, paper towels, etc... RU focuses on getting people better. They don't care what race you are, what religion you are, or are not, or what sexual orientation you are. Everyone is welcome! They emphasize community and communication. You learn so much here. Two things really stick out for me, one being that you don't have to go to treatment many, many times to recover (which I was convinced after the first rehab I was in was the case) and that maybe I should look into AA , and I'm truly happy I did. It's not the path everyone should take but it, along with Refuge fits me very well. The music component was awesome. I'm not musically talented and I can sing a little (but don't know how to play any instruments unless you call making a clarinet screech playing) but being around a group of people, some like me, but many that are well versed in the music business was fantastic! We had an amazing guitarist there that gave me my first guitar lessons who performed with many greats on the road and then gave up that life for something more stable that I am proud to now call my little brother, an amazing keyboardist that rocked the keyboard and has been playing since he was 7 years old, and a number of extremely talented people that either should be or will be stars someday. I had to go to the hospital for an epilepsy study while I was in IOP. Not only did my counselor check up with me to make sure I was ok, but also the staff at IOP and the Alumni staff checked with me and several of the new friends I have made at RU as well. I have seen near miracles happen here too. One of the girls that started the program after I did came in with a warn, resigned look on her face. She had been to treatment many times that year alone. Basically she went to treatment long enough to get a few good night sleep in, and some food, and then turned around and went out and used again. RU changed up her antidepressants and little by little she came to life. She did run away once but it was with another girl who promised her.drugs and a place to live when they got to that girls boyfriends car, the girl said to her boyfriend "oh, she just needs a ride". She realized at that point she'd be better off coming back to RU. After she got to IOP she stopped her indifference and uncaring attitude and actually started to participate in groups and she is now an inspiration to us all! If you have a substance abuse problem or an alcohol problem or know someone who does don't hesitate to come to Recovery Unplugged! The staff is caring, competent and well trained! They truly care!

Absolutely fantastic recovery program with a strong community. As a recent former client my primary…read morereason for choosing Recovery Unplugged was due to all of the terrific input I had received from others within the recovery community. The staff from the techs, to case managers to the therapist were all amazing. What is most impressive about "RU" is the alumni community and their coordinators - it is one of the few recovery centers I have ever heard about that maintains a vigilant connection with clients even after leaving. The program integrates both music and art irregardless of ones skill level or talent. I would highly recommend Recovery Unplugged to anyone seeking a solution to their struggles.
