Basically ripped off by the owner and my mom's hair didn't turn out!! We are Korean and have been to many Korean salons. The owner first quoted my mom $150 for a haircut, root color and coating, which is like a tinted gloss. We showed her about how much hair to cut off because my mom's naturally wavy hair will jump up over an inch. She said it was too long if she only cuts an inch. No reason given. Her tone was almost arrogant as if it's her own hair. Not a polite way to talk to a customer, especially an older, senior citizen Then my mom asked for only root color and coating and she said she would still have to charge $150!!!! So my mom asked for a trim because she didn't want her to chop off her hair but didn't want to waste $$$. I didn't know that when I went back to pay for her hair. My mom's Mahogany coating turned out black on outer layers. She said this is because my mom had so much hair dye there. I said she should have told us this in the beginning. No reply. I said $150 with a bit high considering she only gave her a trim, but she wouldn't budge. This is unusual for a small Korean salon where they normally give you a discount if you get multiple services done. Here they overcharge you! My mom left with purple remnants of coating on her face/hairline and all over her scalp. I don't think it's supposed to even touch her scalp. Saw good reviews so we wanted to try this place out, but I'm afraid she lost a customer forever. This was my Christmas present to my mom. So upset and a waste of $$$! Wish I could give less than one star. The owner does not listen to what you want or is unable to understand. Go anywhere else except for here!!! My hair now has orange red highlights (asked for golden brown tone), it was cut 3 inches shorter than I wanted and lob sided (I asked for the lightest of trims since I'm growing it out!) Don't go here unless you want to be adventurous. This place is hit or miss, and price changes depending on who you come with. She doesnt know how to be responsible for messed up hair cut. She is typical korean lady who doesnt know how to apologize, and will push you to the limit. Most importantly she has no talent in hair cut. read more

I wrote this in the place of my mother: I do not recommend going to this hair salon if you're expecting good and professional service. The stylist was uncooperative and very rude. She was being very forceful and inconsiderate. In the end, all that she accomplished was burning my hair and a sloppy attempt at making wavy hair for exuberant prices! When I requested a refund, she outright refused and only offered some vitamins that do absolutely nothing to fix my hair. Earlier today My wife went to another salon for a setting perm and they had burned and melted her hair down. She was devastated and was crying her eyes out because we are scheduled to have our wedding photoshoot this coming Sunday. Came in to get a hair cut for my mom. The person convinced my mom to get a perm. Sure, she needed one so that's fine. Well, I decided while I wait I should get a trim. I love my long hair, but try to get consistent trims to keep it healthy. I showed her EXACTLY how long I want my hair. And by the end of the cut, my hair is now border line a bob. I tried telling her my dissatisfaction and first she tried to act like she didn't hear me. After I consistently said it, she finally says "I cut off all your dead hair." Ummmm excuse me? Is that an excuse to cut someone's hair this short??? When all they wanted was a trim?!!! Yeah. I suggest you stay far away. read more

PLEASE DO NOT GO - I think the owner has mental issues. I don't know why there haven't been any reviews yet. I went into Marshall salon for a trim. Without asking any question as to what I want, the salon owner grabbed the end of my hair (which came almost to my waist) and cut it to less than half! While the haircut was in progress (which as a whole only lasted like 5 minutes), I expressed that she was giving me a haircut that I have totally not expected and that I haven't even told her what I wanted yet. She didn't give me any answer. At the end, she said this is a beautiful haircut and charged me the full amount, not saying a single word like "you can come back to fix it if you really don't like it". It was pretty frustrating how she wasn't getting that my right as a customer was violated. After a visit to the nearby nail salon, I learned that she actually has some mental issues. The nail salon owner had her hair cut to an inch long and cried so much afterwards. Apparently, she also saw a lady grabbing the salon owner's throat and screaming "you completely messed up my hair" at Grand Mart! Now, I am just thankful that I was only there for 5 minutes and it didn't get worse than it is now (and that I came out alive :)). My hair will grow! My lesson is, not matter how busy you are, take a minute to ask or check reviews before walking into a new salon.. read more

Run away from this salon if you think about going. I was so thrilled when I found out they are having a summer sale for magic straight perms. I liked the environment in the salon better than some other Korean hair salons that are small, dingy, and overcrowded. This one is large, sunny, and not many people at all (should have been my first warning sign, I guess other people run away too b/c there were no other clients in there). I had my hair straightened, and at first I thought it was fine, b/c you can't really tell after you leave as they finish your hair w/a straight iron. So yeah, it looked straight. It was 3 days later after I finally got to wash my hair when I saw how NOT straight it was. I combed it straight, and let it air dry straight. All the things you're supposed to do with a magic straight perm. I have HAD a straight perm before, so I know how straight my hair can get, and my hair isn't that crazy to begin with. They had no excuse not to get my hair straight! So now, one week after my straight perm, I have to actually use my straight iron again!!! I was so upset that I called them and asked for a refund, and they REFUSED. They said, your hair is really curly anyways. What kind of stupid answer is that? First of all, my hair is NOT curly. It's fine, and wavy, but not coarse, or wiry, or anything like that at all. And, as I said, I"ve had a straight perm before and know that my hair takes very well to the process. This is unacceptable! I should have just spent a hundred more and went to Hair Mode in annandale (where I went the first time). My hair stayed straight for an entire year last time! Anyways, run away from Marshall. The owner smokes too so she leaves to take smoke breaks and then completely pollutes the inside of the salon when she comes back in. YUCK. read more

Found this place after asking a guy with decent hair where he got his hair cut. The lady does a good job with my short haircut and knows how to fade the sides and back. She is obviously experienced but she doesn't talk much. Shop is large, well kept, and takes walk ins as it's usually not busy. Been back regularly for the past half year and so far so good. read more
