We had a workshop here in one of the party rooms, and it was really nice! The restaurant is spacious and clean with good lighting. There are several areas for seating, and also a patio area. We stopped by the bar and got lemon drops, and they were well balanced. The presentation came with a prix fixe menu that included salad, appetizers for the table, a main course, and dessert. The shrimp were excellent. They were tender and flavorful without being overpowering. I was expecting a little more from the steak, as it was under seasoned, but the potatoes were really good. The dessert was given to us to go, and the dessert was fine. This is a nice place for a night without the kids, celebrations, and the party rooms have plenty of space.

We live very close by to the Butcher Shop, but had never been till last weekend. Honestly, I just had never heard anything about it, and since we aren't big meat eaters, it just avoided our notice. The first thing I noticed upon entry is that it has a pretty classy decor. I can see this being a special occasion restaurant, though they don't allow balloons or singing in the dining room ( a positive in my book!). The service is also something special. The servers are very attentive without being intrusive, and they are dressed nicely in fresh vests and ties. I really did not expect that at all, so was pleasantly surprised. We started our meal with spinach artichoke dip, a solid offering. Our only small disappointment was when the salads were served, they were drowning in dressing. The sauces and dressings are all made in house (and completely delicious), but some restraint needs to be used on the quantities. Our server quickly whisked them away and brought fresh salads with dressing on the side. For entrees, my husband chose the 14 ounce ribeye. It was very generous and he said it was done perfectly. I had the crab stuffed shrimp. I enjoyed it, but would have preferred it broiled rather than fried. I have never liked tartar sauce, but theirs is made in house, and unlike anything I've tried. I know it's odd to comment on tartar sauce, but it's just that good! Gratuity is included in the bill, but they are not sneaky about it the way I feel some places are. No, right there on the gratuity line is printed "included". We enjoyed our evening there very much and will certainly return.

This review is only for the Friday burger day lunch special for The Butcher Shop Steakhouse. On Fridays only, this restaurant has a burger lunch special off which they take their steaks from the week and grind the meat and make steak burgers. I have been coming to this lunch special multiple times in the past years. It is always good. Currently the hamburgers/cheeseburgers are $11. They also have grilled salmon and catfish as well as bratwurst. Buns, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, pickles are provided. Condiments are available. The cost also includes a bag of chips. Fries and tater tots are an extra purchase. Drinks are also extra. The burgers are probably around 1/3 lb. and grilled on an opened flame. The meat is juicy and typically cooked to doneness of around medium to medium well. The ambiance is noisy but par for most lunches that have a lot of folks gathered. Plenty of seating areas including an outdoor patio. Service is attentive.

I love the ambience of the restaurant. Nice dimmed lighting. The waiter I had was pretty nice although he did mess up one of my desserts to go. However, they allowed me to replace the dessert the next day. I enjoyed most of the food. The salad was really fresh, and the steak tasted really amazing. The apple pie could had been more sweeter. However, their ice cream tasted divine. Overall, I would return here again.

Yes, the food was excellent especially the 20 ounce Ribeye. The service was top of the line. Our servers were attentive and really want us to have a great experience. The decor and ambiance of the restaurant was top of the line. I really enjoyed myself with the other co-workers.

Delicious, I have 2 admit we've only had lunch here. I mean for YEARS, we ate here every Friday for lunch. We were originally having dinner in Southaven for a family birthday dinner, the place couldn't accommodate so, my husband and I called and was told. It was busy and they were no longer accepting reservations but she had 2 openings 6:15 n 7:30. We made it, it was crowded and after the reservations were seated, we got our 6:15 slot. The food was absolutely delicious. My salmon was excellent, very moist. I poured sum melted butter n lemon on top. But thats just how I prefer my salmon, it was seasoned to perfection. Very flavorful, char flavor black pepper n rough salt, man!! Hubz steak was grilled medium and no steak sauce was used nor needed during this dining experience..N the dinstil cheesecake is 1 of my fav desserts in the city.. say less

Does the $15 Monday night special still occur?

Their website states it is $25 and occurs on Sunday and Monday night. I learned something new today. I'll have to check it out.

The restaurant was not overly busy, which made the entire experience relaxed and enjoyable from the moment we walked in. The first thing that stood out was the service. Everyone there was welcoming, patient, and genuinely friendly. Since it was our first time trying a few things on the menu, we had several questions, and the staff took the time to explain everything without making us feel rushed. They gave recommendations, explained the toppings and flavors, and helped make ordering easy. I decided to try the specialty hot dogs, and honestly, they were amazing. They were packed with flavor and loaded with fresh toppings that worked perfectly together. The combination of creamy avocado, fresh vegetables, sauces, and perfectly cooked meat created a unique flavor that was both fresh and filling. Every bite had something different going on, and you could tell the ingredients were high quality and made with care. The presentation alone looked incredible, but the taste backed it up completely. The atmosphere was comfortable and casual, making it a great place to sit down and enjoy good food with family or friends. Nothing felt rushed, and the overall vibe made the experience even better. If you are looking for something different from the usual restaurant options and want flavorful food with friendly service, Las Tortugas is definitely worth visiting. We will absolutely be coming back again.

3.5, I think? This was a tough one for me to rate…read more My aunt lives near Las Tortugas and I've been reading about and thinking about visiting for years whenever I'm in the Memphis area. The stars aligned on this most recent visit and so I got to try them. This location in Germantown is a little easy to miss signage-wise, but Google Maps got me here easily. The parking lot is small but paved nicely and easy to navigate. The inside of the restaurant does feel like a deli, with a counter to order at and a small but reasonable amount of seating. The restaurant's accolades are plastered on walls and the glass windows around the food prep area and it's fun to read the history and writing about this place. There is one semi-essay seemingly from the owner, directed at patrons, grousing about customers having certain expectations about the food they're served (Tex-Mex versus authentic Mexican, for example). The owner is adamant that authentic Mexican is served here, and I have no reason to doubt that at all nor expect anything different, but I must admit the tone was rather off-putting. I can see how it would be frustrating to have your food, your work, be misunderstood or misinterpreted, but it kind of felt like I was being lectured when I hadn't done anything, lol. At any rate, I walked up to the counter to order. Service was adequately if not /especially/ friendly. I placed an order for a sandwich (Tortugas de pollo) as well as a limonada (fresh-squeezed limeade) to go. I waited at one of the tables and my order was ready for me in a reasonable amount of time. My favorite thing was the limonada! It had closer to an Icee texture than a juice or limeade texture but I really liked it. Pleasantly sweet and sour and very refreshing. The sandwich was good if not mind-blowing. Maybe my expectations were just a little too high. One problem was that it got pretty soggy very, very fast - it took me less than 10 minutes to get back to my aunt's house and unbox my food and in that time, the bottom piece of bread on my sandwich was close to falling apart. Some of the chicken was also a little too strong-tasting for me; it's hard to describe but I imagine we've all had chicken that's a little too obviously...well, chicken, lol. Not super mild tasting meat, I guess is what I'm trying to say. That aside, I enjoyed the texture of the cheese and the heat of the peppers. The top slice of bread was also nice and crusty. The sandwich came served with a handful of chips less generous than it appears in the photo and some green salsa. The chips were a little over-fried for me but decent enough, and the subtly spicy salsa went well with them. I think the greatest sticking point for me is the price vs. the quantity of food vs. the relative enjoyment. My meal was a solid bit over $30. I prooooobably could've split the sandwich with someone else and been okay, but given the relatively paltry amount of chips, I was also okay eating it as a solo diner. I think if the price had been a little lower, or the portion of chips a little bigger, or the enjoyment of the sandwich a little greater - any one of those things - this would probably round up to a 4. But ultimately the sticker shock and somewhat condescending vibes lead to a lower rating from me. Idk, I would definitely say this restaurant is worth a try and I'm glad I experienced it and would recommend trying it to others who enjoy this type of Mexican food. That said, I'm also not completely confident I'd return on another visit to Memphis. Well, okay, I would definitely for the limonada. That thing was awesome. ;)
