First, the good: location was nice on the water and there was a very broad selection of beers. Most beers we had were a little lighter in body/flavor than expected. Menu was limited but had promise. We ordered soup, pizza, quesadillas and a rice bowl. Crab bisque was tasty. Nachos were Tostitos chips and salsa with some half melted cheese. Rice bowl was mostly rice and no flavor. Quesadillas were similarly bland. Overall, don't come for the food, get a variety of beers via a flight and enjoy the view! As a note: bathrooms were two porta potties and there was a foot pump hand washing station. Hoping it was a temporary situation but seemed rather permanent. read more

Breweries are always a fun stop to taste some beers and enjoy the surroundings. Being right on the water, MWB definitely brings the sites. We stopped in for a quick round of tasting after dinner. We didn't love most of the beers in our lineup but we only tried a few from the massive menu. I did love the Tequilla2R9 though. The waitress said most customers either love or hate it. I was not sure it was open, but I was diligent and walked about and found that they had some gates open to an outdoor seating area. I was just looking for a quick lunch and they definitely performed. I was able to sit at the bar right at the edge of the water. Super cool view of the river and the bridge, very scenic. I could even see the big tugs docked next door which I thought was neat. I had an orange sour, I can't remember the name, but low in alcohol volume (I was driving) and paired it with their lobster roll. It came with local chips and a pickle. It was all amazing. The combination was very complimentary, and I highly enjoyed it all together. There were very few people here, the weather was perfect and the staff was nice. We are there today with a group of 5 adults and 5 kids. Every adult at our table has worked extensively in the restaurant industry and we are usually good tippers. However, our server forgot to enter one of appetizers and never brought it. Then my Wife never received her chicken quesadilla. My daughter ordered a quesadilla with no red peppers but it came with peppers on it. Then both my niece and nephew didn't receive their food. My sister asked our server Kelly if their food was coming and she said it was in the oven. My nieces rice bowl came after everyone else had finished eating and we asked about the pizza that was "in the oven" and she said I guess I never rang that in??? Then despite forgetting several order items, never bringing my wife's or nephew's food, and my niece not getting to eat until after every one else was done our waitress included an automatic 20% gratuity. I still would have tipped her because I will tip even poor servers 15% but a mandatory 20% tip after such poor service is rather surprising. read more

This placed used to be great, but the service has really gone downhill over the last year or so. It seems that pretty much all of the good wait staff has left and the new hires leave A LOT to be desired. Some are even downright rude. We came here this past weekend for a couple of beers and we ordered the nachos to share. Our first round of drinks came out rather quickly, but we waited 30+ minutes and no nachos . My boyfriend finally had to track down our server and ask where our nachos were. She had forgotten to put them in. By that time, we were both starving, so we said to forget it and we went to the pub next door for food. We also never got to order our second round of drinks as our server never came back to check to see if we needed refills. It's very sad what this place has become. We were once very much regulars here, but I don't think we'll be returning any time soon. read more

Friendly, unobtrusive service in a beautiful marina/wharf environment with waterfront views. We even got to see some otters playing in the water which was really cool. The beers are great. Honestly a little unremarkable but in a good way. Feels like the kind of place that's it's on a Friday, but on a Wednesday feels like the towny spot. Lacks that touristy energy we all hate. The beers i had (hefe and hazy) were good not great which is great considering how many sh%t breweries exist. Service was great, waitress was super friendly and felt genuine. This is a beer joint only. Food was barely edible and the wait staff non-existent. They have maybe 5 items to eat. We got pizzas and rice bowls and they were all not good. The pizzas were 1 step above pita pizzas and they gave the wrong pizza. The wait was WAY too long for what we got and the pizzas were overdone. The rice bowl was something I could have put together home in 5 minutes of time and yet we paid like $15. The view is not bad and the beer is mediocre. I will not be going here again. read more

We have been coming here for years. Current owners have done an incredible job with the outdoor beer atrium. We were there on a 40 degree night in February, the heaters were going and it was warm and cozy inside. This is rustic so wear your Carhartt, for real, and your wool hat. Boots, not shoes for winter nights. Beer list had about 20 craft beers. I had an awesome New England IPA. We had pizza, it was fine. not great but nice to have as an option for dinner. Two well behaved dogs in attendance as trivia played on. The atrium overlooks Belfast Harbor so a great view during the day and the twinkle of the bridge lights are awesome at night. Parking in the municipal lot if no spaces in front of the business. A must do if you are in the area. read more

Location is unbeatable. Wife and I were here during the off-season and there was a roaring fire going & still had a view right over Belfast bay. Staff seems incredible, management less so. We had a young woman server who apologized about the wait every time she checked on us but she was visibly the only staff in the entire place outside of the kitchen. Talking to some buddies who play gigs up there occasionally & apparently trying to book with them is like booking for the first time even if you've been playing there for years. The beer did not disappoint at all, the coffee porter was one of the best I've had in the area. Definitely beats Seadog's coffee porter. Food was very under-seasoned and plain; if you're there to eat and not to drink you will not leave happy. Beer is satisfactory, service is excellent, but it seems like management/owners have checked out or are prioritizing profit over staffing and it is hurting the experience. Probably different in the summer, wife and I have been meaning to go back up and try to get Marshall Wharf at its best. read more

We were OK with our lunch here. The beer list was to die for, and we had a great view of the harbor, although the food menu was quite short. I had the bisque, which was delicious and slightly spicy, and the shrimp cocktail, six exceptionally plump shrimps and an adequate cocktail sauce. To drink I had a flight of four pours. My brother and his husband had the oysters (I am NOT a fan), and they had to wait for quite a while, because they were shorthanded and the person assigned to open the oysters apparently had no idea what she was doing (we could see her behind a fence). Very cute place and hopping busy on the Sunday afternoon when we visited. The hostess plopped us at 2 barstools with a wood plank table top which would have been fine if we weren't eating. Huge dog beneath our feet. Odd she didn't ask if the table was ok and odd since there were lots of tables upstairs at their sister place Three Tides. We were stumped if we had done something to tick her off. Another couple left so we asked if we could take their table and a waitress said of course. I had a glass of wine and oysters; hubby had an IPA and pepperoni flatbread pizza (arrived without pepperoni but they offered to remake). Waitresses were very nice - took a few visits to get napkins, utensils, plates but in the end great afternoon. I think the place has lots of potential. I have been wanting to visit Marshall Wharf Brewing Company for over a year. I met the owner and the brewer at the Black Fly Brew Festival in Houlton. Really enjoyed the beers they had brought to the festival. So naturally a visit to home base was in order. I love the atmosphere of the brewery setting. It's perfect for a water front beer garden where a lot of locals hang out, not just the tourist. It truly is a place where everyone is welcome. I started with the Sláinte Irish Red and finished with a Phil Brown Ale. I would have had more, but I had to drive and the food options were not plentiful for this plant-based dude. I ordered from the menu: Hot Pretzel Top Knot - Served with mustard and/or spicy beer cheese $6.00 and Quinoa and Black Bean Salad- Vegan, GF, fresh salad with tri-colored quinoa, black beans, sweet peppers, scallions, olive oil, fresh lime juice, kosher salt, garlic powder, cumin, cilantro $7.99. The salad was good, I would order it again and the pretzel was amazing. Hot, salty, with a nice crust and soft as a cloud inside. Yum, yum, yum! Unfortunately they had ran out of the only vegan choice available - mustard. Oh well, it was still amazing! I am a fan and will be back. A must stop and try spot in Belfast. read more

Popped into MWBC a couple of weeks ago, post-Celtic celebration in Belfast, for a brew and some bites. It's a brewhouse; the restaurant is relatively small and open-aired (bathrooms are port-o-potties). It's a nice, airy location on the water (although, we were seated furthest away from the windows and views). We'd been wanting to visit this establishment since tasting their beers at Houlton's Blackfly Brewfest last year, so this was a perfect time to check them out. Service was friendly and relatively straightforward. Brewskis were given the thumbs-up from all in our group! Being plant-based eaters, our food options were extremely limited, unfortunately. That said, there were a couple of items we ordered: a vegan quinoa and black bean salad, and the hot pretzel "top knot," served with your choice of a cheese dip or mustard. The salad was small but very tasty; pretzel was super! However, NO mustard?!?! Waitress said they had "run out of mustard"...!!! We were all surprised, to say the least! Super disappointed. We made a special trip from Castine for the lobster roll, beer and music. We were seated at 8:10pm and given menus. At 8:20pm when we hadn't been greeted yet, we walked up to ask about placing our order. We were told that the kitchen had just shut down. What?! Then why did you bother to seat us and give us menus?! We walked over to Front Street Pub and were met with a friendly greeting and a kitchen crew that was happy to feed us. I'll be reviewing Front Street Pub next and guess what... They are getting a great review and we haven't even received our food yet. They are getting two thumbs up for their positive "can do" attitude AND excellent bar service. read more

I liked this brewing company. It was a great location with an ocean view. They serve some food, and they have a huge selection of beer. If you are planning to have an actual dinner, this is not the place, they do not have a big food menu. Even tho, you are not gonna be hungry. My favorite beer was that called something like "Sassy Orange." It tasted like citrus. My boyfriend and I tried their soup of the day, that day it was spicy crab bisque, six oysters, and pretzel with cheese and mustard. Everything tasted great. We also tried their local chips that are called "Fox Family." We decided to try BBQ flavor but our server did not mention that it will be extremely HOT. Just letting you know that if you decide to try BBQ flavor it tastes good but it is super hot. I loved the place overall. They are dog friendly as well, we brought there our dog once. read more

Chowder is watered down and tasteless and took over 30 mins, nachos were all crumbs and bland, pizza took an hour (actually, we never got it so don't know how it tastes), food is very slow and owner very rude (laughed at us when i asked why people arriving 30 mins later than us were getting their food the same time as us), and beers are flat and not cold. Definitely don't get the 30 dollar lobster roll that has barely any lobster in it! I should've taken pics, it was laughable. read more

Probably one of my favorite places to go, to sit out along the water have a bunch of beers, a soup and a couple of hot dogs from a local vendor and just visit and enjoy the atmosphere. They primarily sell beer and if you get caught up on only ordering beers you know this isn't the place for you. Best to start with a flight if you have no idea and from there dial in what you want to do. They also sell chips and soup but no other food, i believe they had a cabbage soup the day we went which was better than any other cabbage soup i have ever had. Not the greatest place for kids (although also not too bad our 4 year old had fun with us) or people that don't like sitting, visiting and drinking beer. read more
