am writing to share feedback regarding a recent return experience at the Marshall's New Albany, Ohio location, which was far more difficult and unpleasant than it needed to be due to the behavior of a cashier. I was returning two sweaters purchased online--one size large and one size medium. The large did not fit, and the medium was damaged (a button was missing). Both items were brand new, still had the original brand tags attached, and I had the receipt available electronically on my phone. Initially, I did not have my phone with me inside the store. Although the cashier was able to locate my receipt in the system, she stated she needed to see the receipt on my phone because it contained "pictures." I understood this requirement since the items were purchased online and did not have Marshall's tags. However, I was then incorrectly told that without the original plastic bags the sweaters shipped in, the items could not be returned. This was confusing and frustrating, especially since I had proof of purchase and the items were new with tags. When I asked what I was supposed to do, the cashier responded, "Honestly, I don't know what to tell you," which came across as dismissive and unhelpful. I ultimately went back to my car to retrieve my phone, after being told I would need to get back in line. After returning to the line, I unfortunately ended up with the same cashier, Kayla. I provided my phone showing the receipt, photos, and matching item numbers. At that point, the return was processed--but it was issued as a gift card. When I asked why, since I had the receipt, I was told it was because I paid via PayPal. When I asked where that policy was stated, Kayla said she did not know. To avoid having funds tied up on a gift card, I asked if I could return the items I had just purchased (over $100), then repurchase them using the store credit. She confirmed that I could, but questioned why I would want to do that. After retrieving the items from my car again, I returned to the store. At that point, I overheard Kayla discussing my situation with another employee in a clearly negative manner. When I approached, she stated she was no longer open, despite audibly talking about me moments before. Another cashier assisted me, completed the return and repurchase efficiently, and the transaction was resolved. While the situation was ultimately fixed, it required multiple trips to my car, unnecessary confusion, and enduring rude and unprofessional behavior. The issue itself was not the policy or the process--it was the attitude. Talking negatively about a customer within earshot, being dismissive, and making the customer feel like a problem was completely unnecessary, especially during a relatively slow time in the store. I understand policies must be followed, and I was more than willing to do what was needed to resolve the situation. However, courtesy and professionalism should still be the standard. This experience did not reflect that. I hope this feedback is used to improve customer interactions moving forward. read more

Holy wow. I've never been to this Marshall's'/HomeGoods mega store, but I will be back. My friend and I were both starting new jobs, so we stopped in to look for some office clothes, and we scored pretty big (note that we are both more in the business casual realm). We were in here for 3 hours! Clean, well lit, LOTS of merchandise. The seasonal section was huge. I never even made it to beauty or shoes, but they looked like decent sized areas. Marshalls - Department Stores Near Me - Gahanna, Ohio

The past couple times I've been to Marshall's and TJ Maxx, they've had exactly what I needed. If you've followed along with my recent need for yoga clothes, then you'll not be surprised by what got me here. Most of my yoga clothing has come from thrift stores. However, there are some things that you absolutely must buy new. And the items I was looking for was not readily available at any store - having not found them at retail places like Meijer or Target. So when I entered this store, I went right to the intimates department. I didn't immediately find what I was looking for - but then I looked in the clearance section and found a couple options for exactly what I needed - and CHEAP! Boo yah! I went for the option with more pairs - a deal is a deal so may as well maximize my savings. And I won't have to purchase this item again for a long time. Of course, now that I had something I knew I would be buying, I was more apt to find spur of the moment items to add to the buy. This time around, I found lavender essential oil at a decent price. So I grabbed a bottle on the way out. (last time I think I grabbed a bottle of perfume). The line for check out wasn't too bad. They have an automated system that calls you to the next open cashier by register number. Unfortunately, when I got to the register that I had been told to go to - no one was there!! The cashier next to it explained that sometimes the cashiers forget to check off before going on break. She was nice enough to ring me up next so I didn't have to go back and get at the end of the line. Thanks to her, the shopping trip was a success. If I would have had to cycle through the line again - there would have been one fewer stars on this review. I'll definitely be back here to pick up items in the future! No telling, however, when or what I'll be looking for. read more

When I was thirteen, in order to avoid being labeled a "loser" at school, it was necessary to keep up with the "cool" kids and dress accordingly. What was the most important accessory to a middle school boy back then? Sneakers, of course, not just any sneakers...expensive, leather ones. They were the envy of every boy in school. My parents refused to pay top dollar for all those new-fangled, fancy-shmancy leather sneakers that all of my "supposed" friends were wearing. Wisely, Mom and Dad were not compelled by my desparate pleas for conformity and acceptance among my peers. So, what was I to do? I never had enough money saved up from my paper route to afford the sneakers of my dreams. I remember it like it was yesterday. Riding around town on my moped, I passed a big, new store that had just opened. The name on the building was "Marshall's". I wasn't sure what kind of store it was until I saw their TV ad. I knew it must have been a special store, because their slogan was "name brands for less", I knew that I had to check it out for myself. Would my sneaker dreams finally come true? When I entered that new Marshall's, I thought to myself, "what am I doing in this clothing store?" But, I didn't give up. I walked around and finally found the shoe section. Rack after rack of shoes stacked to the ceiling filled the aisles. I didn't know where to begin. Then, as I turned the final corner, there it was...NIRVANA! All the new-fangled, fancy-shmancy leather sneakers a boy could ever ask for...all marked down to half the regular retail price! Shazaam...I found it! That was the day that I finally got my first pair of "expensive" sneakers. They were a pair of white leather Pumas. Boy, were they nice! I couldn't wait to show them off at school the next day. The best part is that I didn't pay as much as my "cool" friends paid for them and more importantly, I impressed my parents with my shrewd purchase. I felt great! Today, I still feel great buying my sneakers at Marshall's. They've remained true to their original slogan..."name brands for less". Not only do I still buy all of my sneakers at Marshall's, I buy a lot of other things as well like ties, belts, shirts and more. My latest purchase was a brand new Van Heusen dress shirt for only $7.99. What a deal! (or should I say "what a steal") Boy, that made me feel great. There's nothing like a good bargain! Whatever you choose at Marshall's, you know that you're going to get a good price. They may not have everything you like or need, but they always have bargains to help you save money. I can't stand paying full price on retail clothing. If you feel the same way, get over to Marshall's today. Start impressing your friends like I do. I recommend the white leather Pumas. :) read more

The customer service received by Manager Rogena H is deplorable. No customer should be treated as a criminal. Thank God for credit card statements to proof a purchase otherwise I would have never been able to exchange a pair of shoes that had a defective stitching. Manager Rogena H. Treats customers as if everyone is trying to fraudulently exchange merchandise. Customer be aware of your purchase as Rogena will give you hell for exchanging merchandise without a receipt. Rogena only knows receipts and have understanding that proof of purchase can be validated more than one way, I.E credit card numbers, credit card statements, bank detail debit card transactions etc. read more

This Marshall's is one of my favorite in town. The store is usually very clean and has a great selection of items. They recently started renovating. However, that has not cut into the amount of merchandise available. This location has a good size collection of shoes and beauty products compared to others. They also have a great variety and overrun of home goods items. Beware- if you see something you like, it's best to purchase. I've kicked myself a few times trying to come back a day or two later for an item that was already long gone. Keep in mind, this location does get a lot of traffic, so you may have to stand in line for a good amount of time if you visit during peak hours (weekends and holiday shopping). Not sure how you can rate this location less than 5 stars. It has the best selection of clothes and shoes out of any Marshall's in central Ohio (including the new one at Easton). They do a good job of staffing the the registers during peak weekend hours. The Home Goods also has a fantastic selection. read more

I come to Marshalls before heading to the department stores for all kinds of name brand clothing. I am always happy with the variety of styles. They change the inventory quick so if you see something, get it, otherwise it will be gone by the time you come back. This location is busy and the line gets long. Be prepared. This is connected to Home Goods. Shop for clothes, shoes, bags then head over to shop for everything for your home. Keep your credit card at home! read more

True story: Once I bought an OSU hoodie here and when I got it home and tried it on, one sleeve was a good six inches longer than the other. Still, I loved the hoodie, and I didn't take it back. Just look over the things you buy ~really~ well if you're picky about that sort of thing. Honestly, the clothes to me are secondary at Marshalls because I much prefer the shoes and the Home Goods. That's where you can find the really amazing finds. Need art for your walls or a decorative plate for your decorative plate holder? They've got it all, and it's cheaper than anything around. Eh. Not much of a nice selection of clothing. The only plus is it opens up to home goods next door which I love. I didn't check out other areas of the store so this review is for women's and boys clothing. I don't particularly like the set up either. I quit working there for many reasons. Management is horrible. Literally if you're a minor and a little older don't apply. They treat their staff horrible. Especially Rogina. She's one of the managers there and the amount of complaints I receive from customers is too much. Also many of my other associates that I work with have many complaints of her. She has said many out of pocket comments and many inappropriate comments as well. She could never answer a question I would ask her. If i needed help she would start huffing and puffing. Every time I made the smallest mistakes she would throw the biggest tantrum causing a scene even when the customer told me it was alright. And she would literally harass the younger coworkers to get a credit card. Each cashier was supposed to meet a quota. She would literally not listen at all. She would follow you. Stand behind you. Say back hand comments. Even the customers were uncomfortable. The worst person to work with. Many even complained about her to the store manager, John. He said that that "just her personality and we couldn't do anything about it." That is 1)wrong because of the amount of things she has done and 2) a management job literally shouldn't be given to people who feel literally threatened. Also since covid, she literally became worse. A customer announced he had covid. When the cashier complained to her, I kid you not she literally came to the cashier face to face, like 5 inches away and said "make a credit card". She regarded the safety of the cashiers. The reason she pushes it is because her supervisor is screaming at her and the rest of management for not meeting the quota. That's it. Let's talk about the other problems. The other managers have their own problems that rarely had anything to do with me. Many co-workers say they feel very creeped out by one of them. If a customer is not wearing a mask, we couldn't do anything about it. They raised the amount of people into the store from 200 to 400+. The bathrooms are always a mess. Rogina held a meeting one time saying how if we see any towels or if the bathroom it was our job to clean it. That's a major problem because they have a janitor who would only come in the mornings and they don't pay me or the rest enough. Even though Myself or any other co-worker has never seen them clean before. They try to abuse the power of authority they have. The four stars is for Marshall side of this combo store.the Home goods store at this location has the worst customer service and the manager is not flexible to even hold one item for 24 hrs as a courtesy because I forgot my AMEX card. The manager Debbie Dooty was not customer friendly which is why her staff does not care how the treat customers, However Petra in Marshall side was excellent and tried to advocate for me about the 24 hour hold but was shot down by the Homegoods manager, so sad love the merchandise. I will try a different location for Homegoods. read more

Don't come here unless you like to wait in line. I just waited in line 26 minutes to make a return. I walked in on a Friday at 3:50. Its not Christmas yet or any other especially busy retail holiday. It's just ALWAYS like this. They always have all lanes open too. I can't understand why they won't make this two separate stores with two separate sets of registers! This was a TERRIBLE experience . They are attached to Home Goods and the lines are comparable to Disney World. I couldn't believe how unorganized the whole store was and how unfortunate it was for them to have such low staff that they couldn't even open more lanes to cash out. I was overwhelmed with disappointment on the selection of everything . Yes, I know it is hit or miss however, everything was off the racks and on the floor so definitely didn't want to get all my clothing off the floor. read more

I love Marshalls and Home Goods stores. I always find amazing deals. The inventory is always changing and if you don't get there when your shoe size comes in then you aren't getting any shoes. Sometimes merchandise is damaged and still on sale, but when you find that thing that you love and its on clearance, that is a good day. read more

Good selection of clothes and home decor items! I went here one time looking for an interview outfit. I tried on about 10 items and bought the 2 I liked best. Unfortunately, the fitting room person acted like I ruined her day and gave me attitude about putting back the rest of the items I didn't want to buy. I have worked in retail before. I know exactly what its like to have to put clothes back on a rack. Her reaction was completely unnecessary. Hopefully, if I return here the person working the dressing room will have a better attitude when it comes to customer service. read more

Great place to get great deals on stuff that doesn't sell too well in high end stores like Macy's or Nordstrom. I never pay retail for clothes which are ALWAYS over priced in high end dept stores. I wait until a deal comes up like friends and family etc b4 buying from one of those stores but when i really need something, i know i can count on Marshall's or TJ Maxx to provide great designer clothes at a discounted price. This place may not be the most organized because of the hordes of people who look for deals but if you can find that shirt or suit that fits well and save hundreds, it is all worth it! read more

I can barely afford to shop here. Their clearance is not really clearance, the prices are still high. Sometimes I get lucky. I still can't help but to browse this store despite knowing I may not find something with the right price. The excitement of possibly getting lucky draws me in. Marshalls is a great place to shop for designer clothes, shoes & handbags and a affordable price. In addition they also have a great selection of home decor items, kitchenware, bedding, rugs, lamps & even furniture. Sometimes it is hit or miss in terms of the good deals on shoes & clothes, but usually their clearance is good stuff. They used to have a good selection of men's Big & Tall clothing, but for some reason they seem to be lacking in this area right now. I rarely ever walk out of this store without buying something. read more
