This is a great store! It's a great place to pick up towels, sheets, pots, pans and other home goods as well as women's shoes. The selection is good and prices are like department store sale prices for quality goods. The store even carries iPod speakers, headphones, etc. at great prices. The clothing selection is good but a bit hit and miss. They carry designer brands as well but will just have a handful of sizes, which is the only reason I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 5. read more

I tend not to shop at Marshalls because it is often too disorganized for me. I stopped into this one looking for some socks to fill my husband's stocking. I was actually surprised at how organized this Marshalls was. I didn't spend too much time looking at everything, but I did manage to circle the entire store and saw some items that I didn't expect at Marshalls. They pretty much have everything here and at a good price. The register line is set up so that they have impulse items surrounding you as you wait to see which register number is open. They actually got me and I bought some potpourri I found while waiting in line. The line did go by quickly though. One thing to note is that the men's socks are hanging against the wall and of course the ones I wanted were too high for me to reach. I mean I could have gotten them if the hook was twisted up so that you had to lift over it. So, shorties, you might have to bring a tall friend or ask a taller stranger (like I did) to grab your socks for you. read more

THIS MARSHALLS LOCATION IS A+. I have been to my fair share of Marshalls and even thought I discovered the best Marshalls locations back in Boston near their home office but this location is right there up at the top of the list. This is not the biggest location by any means but the merchandise is top notch. If you are a fan of the contemporary selection (Free People, Joe's Jeans, Vince, Rag & Bone etc) then this is the location for you. Once again though the section is not the biggest its the best pieces for the best prices especially if you are in the market for jeans. Everything is very on trend so you don't have to sort through a rack of Juicy Couture tees from 2001 just to get to the good stuff. The shoe selection, handbag department, and beauty area are also great. Even though I would love to hit this Marshalls location weekly I will have to keep my distance because I could do some serious damage here. read more

I've been going around to find some cute clothes to amp up my wardrobe recently in this past week alone I've been to Fashion Valley 3x, Mission Valley, PB etc. and I can't find any nice clothing. I was in need of lingerie for a bridal shower tomorrow. I came at 6:15. The store closes at 7 o'clock. There was a small line. The manager Rene comes out and tells us that the store is at capacity and they can't let anyone else in. The line disperses except for five people. She proceeded to let them in. I like Marshall's for men's dress shoes---they are vastly better than Ross for this item---but lately there has been nothing in the shoe department at Marshall's that I like. Also I Noticed That there Racks are allways Full and Stock . Plus it feels like There Shoe Selection is bigger then the other ones also . The Parking is ok but during Like Lunch Time or Prime Time like After 5:00pm you might have to wait for a spot . Now, I should mention my particular affinity for Marshalls. They gave me my first job, working in the fitting room, when I was 15. It was a great experience, actually. Very nice people, it was fun to organize all of the stuff in the home goods section. Helped me buy my first car. The Marshalls in La Jolla has got to be the best Marshalls in the country. It's well-lit, well organized, and has the best selection of everything. On an average day, you can find designer jeans for cheap, gorgeous leather purses, killer deals on shoes, all the home goods you could ever want, and giant bottles of Rusk shampoo for 10 bucks. They remodeled the store recently, and it looks great. Better check out line, MUCH nicer fitting rooms, better displays in the home section. The customers here are usually really nice. You can ask someone how something looks on you and you'll get an honest answer. I like friendly people like that. Do you like this purse? I literally RAN through this store while the hubs waited outside with the dog. I grabbed an adorable summer dress of the racks and found a pair of sunglasses and a case. They had a really nice selection of shoes as well as a good selection of shampoo and skin care products. No screaming kids here and the check out line was short and quick with friendly cashiers. This Marshall's is my Go-To store for clothes shopping. They get GREAT items in here. Great shoes too for super cheap. My favorite section is the Junior's section. They have lots of ways of displaying the clothes, they aren't JUST on long racks so you can see a lot more of it at once. I am never disappointed with a shopping trip at Marshall's. Maybe I should take 1 star away (although I won't) because their Men's section is kind of lacking....especially the pants. But I rarely shop for men's clothes there anyway. They have a large shoe section with really nice shoes, lots of steve madden, paris hilton, guess and jessica simpson shoes. Their sandals are really low priced also. Whenever I go shopping here I am always tempted to buy at least one pair of shoes. They have great semi-formal dresses for weddings or special events. My favorite purple dress to wear at weddings I got at this Marshalls. Also, I just recently got a pair of brown suede knee-high boots and had nothing to wear with them, so I went to Marshalls and found a whole new mini -wardrobe to go with my boots! read more

The Shoe selection at the Marshalls is AWESOME. Really. Especially if you are a fan of Chucks. Usually there are 2-3 various colors with good inventory in stock for men, and more for women. I love Marshall's. they do have great clothes and prices. I seriously don't get the hype of designer names but if you like that stuff they have nice designer clothes and shoes here as well. They sell a few non clothing items like headphones, bath gels, handbags, and house decor. It's much like a Ross but nicer women's clothing selection in my opinion Complaints : they use to have plenty of cashiers even before the holiday season but today the line was huge and good for business but only three cashiers. I am relatively patient in line, my mind wanders but others... The lady behind me kept tapping her nails on a box she held until I turned around, another lady kept coming through the line to show her friend one after another ugly ass shirts to add to their pile. We all eventually got to buy our items and then wait in traffic Also, I would think there's an outside janitorial service but maybe the already busy employees are responsible for the cleanliness of the bathroom. I do not know. Either way it was not clean, suffice to say. I am being polite, surprisingly. To make it worse, there were no seat covers! The floor however was decorated with rolled up ones! So I got to squat and pee in Marshall's which, even for a great deal for clothes, is mostly beneath me :D read more

If I need shoes, I come here first. Everytime winter hits, this is the place for boots. I got my dress boots and my snow boots here every year. The majority of the stuff that I wear, that I get compliments on, I have bought at this Marshalls. If I need stuff for my home, I will surely check this place out. Out of every Marshall's I've been to this is by far the best location!! I'm a regular here and can say I come in at least 3 times a week on my lunch break. What I love about this location is that they are organized, always have a great selection. Compared to Ross they are more expensive but offer better quality product. My favorite part about this location is that it's in the same parking lot as Ross so you can hit up both stores at once to find great deals! This particular Marshalls is one of the nicest, cleanest, and most organized in San Diego (second being the one in Solana Beach). Yes, the prices are a teeny bit higher than your average Ross (which can be a mess to walk in to), but the quality and browsing is so much better! You can find almost everything you need here. Cheap [Christmas, birthday, wedding] gifts, affordable shoes (from fancy heels to quality running shoes), nice bags, DVDs, electronics, books, photo books, scrapbooking material, soaps & shampoos, kitchen gear, house decor and clothing (activewear, pjs, dresses, workwear, t-shirts)! Part of the fun is browsing through the aisles! They often have many cashiers and I like how there's one line you go to and then the automated voice will tell you which cashier to go to. read more

My wife and I are big fans of Marshall's and Home Goods and we are very frequent customers. Today we happened to be in La Jolla eating breakfast at Richard walkers, we decided to stop by nearest Marshall's to shop for vacation cloths with the family. We spent about an hour and half looking around and my 10 and 7 years old daughters happened to be in toys section looking at toys like most kids do. A female employee by the name of Carla approached my two kids and weren't in her way while she was stacking cloths, she called them 'stupid girls '. Both girls got shocked because they didn't do anything wrong and came up to me and said daddy '' that lady used the S word and we didn't do anything. '' l spoke to the employee , she was being rude and argumentative with nasty attitude. I hardly ever leave negative reviews to anyone, I normally let go, but this lady burst my bubble and had to report her to the manager. We'll still shop at Marshall's, but they need to advice their employees that bad customer service shouldn't be tolerated at all. read more

I was on a hunt for finding some nice heels for Vegas. I've been dying to get some Guess and Jessica Simpson heels for a while now. A friend of mine tipped me off to go check out Marshalls. Never have I ever thought of going there for brand name items. I don't know why I was about to spend full price on their websites when I could find shoes made by them for half the price in this store. I bought two pairs of heels for $50. I don't like this place. There, I've said it. I don't care how good the prices are this is not a store I will return to unless I am desperate. If every other clothing store in the area is closed, including Ross, I will rethink this decision, but otherwise this particular Marshalls has lost me as a customer. On two occasions my adult daughter and I have found the personnel lacking in basic business skills and manners to the extent that it has ruined the shopping trip for us. On one occasion my daughter was rudely scolded by a fitting room clerk for something totally unfounded. Yesterday, we stood in line for 20 minutes waiting to be checked out by an unsmiling and very slow cashier. The store has that just this side of "shlock shop" look to it, with narrow aisles and merchandise hung haphazardly. I realize that the merchandiser could very well be doing this intentionally, to convince the buyer that he or she is getting a long searched for deal, but come on, this place is just not pleasant to shop in. I prefer Ross and will select it over Marshalls whenever possible. I can't talk about Marshalls' quality since I just don't have the patience to wade through a sloppy store with indifferent salespeople. read more

I had a really pleasant experience st Marshall's yesterday! The cashier, Yammi(?), was great. I was having a dilemma with deciding between two candles and she was kept telling me to take my time since I'll be smelling that candle for a long time. She even gave me input on which one to pick. I'm not much of a shopper. I like to know what i need, find what I need, and then get out. So even though Marshall's can be a hodgepodge of selection and a bit like a first-hand thrift store, I am still able to be in an out within 20 minutes with something I needed and a few I hadn't planned on. Clothes are easy to find if one is not too picky. Returning items is equally as easy. Kitchen department is probably my favorite. Can get quality items for half the price of most department stores, and a third of the fancy places (withholding names to protect the overpriced). read more

Was stabbed by a loose rusty knife that was resting in between shoes in the men's shoe section, at this location on December 14th. There were witnesses. Filed a claim, was rushed to ER in case of infection. Unfortunately I have yet to hear back from Marshall's or Corporate. Very poor custumer service, and awful neglect! read more

This Marshall's Is super clean! I actually found a lot of great deals here and really like their home section. They have these great bath rugs that soak up all the water when you get out of the shower and prevents the floor from ever getting wet or slippery. And they also have a huge selection of kitchen utensils that are such a great price. I normally don't look at shoes either when I go to stores like this and I'm not exactly sure why, but this specific location had a great selection! They weren't as great of deals because I could have sworn they were the same price at Nordstrom, but it was nice to see they had new stuff to choose from. read more

This location is one of the better maintaned and stocked stores in SD. More selection of most everything from shoes both men's and women's, luggage, clothing an housewears . I like coming here when I want more for selection of items or when I'm looking for specific housewares that might not be in stock at other locations. Located in local mall that has enough other stores like world market, Ross stores, a movie theater an about Alf dozen or so places to eat without getting back in car. Good way to spend the afternoon in la Jolla other than the beach. read more

This store is clean, well lit, welcoming, and fairly organized unlike many other locations or stores similar to Marshalls. I have been dropping in once a week for a month to find a cooking utensil that I was told the store usually has in stock, but apparently hasn't had in each week I come in the day of or after shipment. In the meantime, I have been making small purchases here and there for my room/apartment or for other things. I also peruse the aisles to see if there is anything that might be fitting for my list of needs/wants that I am reluctant to make purchases for yet. Though I haven't purchased clothing or accessory items here, they all seem of fair quality or better than other discount stores. I am impressed with the decent selection of shoes, handbags, clothes, etc etc and how they are neatly displayed. I had to make a return for a purchase that was past the 30 days. You usually have to get in store credit, but I asked if they could make an exception because I had my credit card and original receipt and the item was left perfect in the box. I have a tendency to make a purchase and shelve it after learning that it has no use or doesn't work for me. I decided to take the plunge and return it once I found the receipt. I was just a couple days shy of the 30 day mark. The cashier asked her manager if they could make an exception and they said, YES! I was very grateful. Thank you! One thing you might want to do when shopping here for things other than clothes is to make sure the item works properly. I bought a portable charger that was already broken in the box. I discovered this as I walked out and around the corner of the store. I ended up walking straight back in and returning it that day. Location is also good. read more

I this is the best Marshalls compared to the one in Mira Mesa based off the inventory selection. You just have more variety and slightly more higher end finds here. I think Mira Mesa just gets tapped faster than the one here. I prefer going here when looking for kitchen pots and pans which is my favorite thing to do. I haven't really searched the clothes but they seem overall walking through them as a hearty selection to search through. I also have better luck parking here than the Mira Mesa plaza one. read more
