As far as inventory this is a great location. You can find some really great items here for a great price, and I've frequently found items for myself and for gifts as others. The store is usually pretty clean, and not as messy as some other stores in this plaza. The parking lot is big, however if it's frequently full, and you might have to circle around a bit on busy days. There are lots of other stores and restaurants in the area as well which is very convenient. Unfortunately the service here can be very hit or miss. The last time i was in there were about 5 people behind the counter but they kept walking away from there registers, so there were only 2 to 3 ringing up and doing exchanges. There seemed to be no sense of urgency at all for the over 15 customers in line that wrapped around. Instead of trying to get the line down, they were either talking forever to customers about random things, or playing with hangers, or a clipboard. The other tasks they were doing could have been done either later, or done by just 1 of them not 2 or 3 at a time. Then they want to ask you to get a credit card after you finally do get to the register, and it's more frustrating when you tell them no, and they keep going. read more

Parking lot is very chaotic, with so many businesses nearby. So finding a parking spot can be tricky on a weekend. And this is a very busy store, so weekend lines can be long to checkout, but it tends to move fairly quickly. read more

This evening around 6 pm I stopped in. I live in Ramona , so we do not have a Marshalls yet. When I was leaving , I was greeted by the sweetest cashier. Her name was Priscilla. She was very courteous , professional and kind with a very beautiful smile. It's refreshing to see young people was such good work ethic. She's a true asset to this company. Both times I've come here, I haven't found anything I wanted and left with nothing. Looking for some more colors of things I found in SB so I'll have to hit up some other Marshalls! I am extremely disappointed with the service at this Marshalls location. The staff, including the shift manager, were shockingly rude and displayed an unprofessional, "could care less" attitude. The long waits at checkout are frustrating enough, but when it was finally my turn, I stood to the right of the register (as there's no clear signage where customers should stand). The cashier ignored me, and called other customers ahead, and when I politely pointed this out, she didn't apologize--instead, she blamed me for standing in the "wrong spot." Her lack of awareness and basic courtesy was unbelievable. When I asked to speak with a manager (#1000), I was met with even worse behavior. Rather than resolving the issue, the manager was dismissive and rude. It became very clear why the cashier felt empowered to treat customers poorly--the management sets the tone. Sadly, after this experience (6/29/25 @16:27), I will not be returning to this location, and I will avoid Marshalls altogether. Customer service used to be a strength here, but it has clearly declined. read more

The store was stocked with many new things. Everything was well organized in all of the shopping departments. Their customer friendly greeters giving wiped off baskets and hand sanitizer when you come in, is great. Our checkout person was also very customer friendly and she struck up a good small talk conversation. They have a pretty good selection of Ladies' Apparel selection. The Junior Teen Section could use some beefing up. The Bed and Bath Sections are very well stocked with great selections. The Kitchen Section was missing a lot of items, but it's probably because of the new re-opening shopping rush earlier in the day. Shoes were very well stocked. I didn't like that some of them were returns and the bottoms were not cleaned off. We will return. I didn't appreciate how my teenage daughter was stared at and followed by several of the shoppers and one store worker when I sent her to shop on her own. For that ugliness, I give 1 star. Thankful that the employees are quick at getting misplaced items reorganized but if you turn around for 5 seconds, the employees steal your cart and put all of your items back. This has happened more than 5 times in the past 6 months, every single time I visit the store. I came to this Marshall's since we were in the area. I only managed to find a makeup brush cleaner. It's for eyeshadow brushes so you can take out the one color you use and dust it off in the pan so you can use another color. It's pretty useful for me since I love wearing eyeshadow colors. I was disappointed that I didn't find much here. All the high end boxes were tampered with so I passed on all the lipsticks. People tend to swatch them and then put them in the box. I make sure that the item I buy isn't tampered with. I'm pretty picky when I buy my high end makeup. Anyway, descent location but I wish they had more to choose from. My daughter saw some cool stuff here as well. She loves the bath salts so we picked up two bags for a dollar each on the sale items. Overall just descent. read more

The land where dreams and dirty clothes falling off the hangers come to die slow...painful deaths. Something is wrong with this place, this is not the Marshalls that i used to love. Maybe they are cleaning out the store to go out of business or restocking their inventory? I went in here specifically to purchase new clothes as I have lost about 25 pounds and some of my pants are too big. I did not find ONE thing in this place not even a top to wear. The inventory was picked through, the maxi-dresses on the hangers were dirty and falling off the rack. The clothing selection left a lot to be desired. The pants were even too large or too small. I left feeling sad but my frown turned upside down as soon as I went to Banana Republic Factory store. Bought 200.00 worth of clothes that actually fit and now I am good to go. I actually trully enjoy shopping at Marshalls, TJ Maxx and Home Goods. You can find some great deals if you are patient enough to look. With that being said this review is base solely at my experience at the cash wrap. I purchased a few items and were very happy with them. The cashier asked if I wanted to open a TJ Maxx credit card and I politely declined. She then went on and on about how bad it is that I do not have a credit card with them and that eventually all the stores would be member's only and that I would not be able to shop with them anymore. If that is the case then maybe ill purchase the membership then but as of now i declined to sign up for the credit card. I felt very pressured to where I just wanted her to finish the transaction fast so I can leave. The upselling of the credit card was so forceful that it made me feel very uncomfortable specially being told that in front of other customers. As a former assistant manager at a retail store I know the ins and outs of retail. Different policies, but at the end of the day the one goal is for the business to keep running. So I do understand that at times they need to upsell things whether its for personal incentive or store incentive. But once you've asked and a customer declines, all you can do is tell them the benefit of the credit card and what they can potentially be saving. If they still say no you gotta just let it go and try again with the next one. Pressuring a customer into doing something is never right and it is border line harassment. read more

Absolutely garbage. I get to the fitting room right when the attendant says she's about to take a 15 minute break. Fine. I wait 20 minutes and then ask up front for an update. They tell me that it will be at least 20 more minutes for cleaning. I wasted all that time for nothing. What a trash operation. read more

As Marshalls go, the staff here is very nice and the checkout lines seem like they are staffed properly so the line moves quickly. The store itself has what you would expect, though it's pretty light on men's items. Men's shoes are almost non existent, and the clothes selection isn't a whole lot better. read more

I stopped by this Marshalls because I needed thank you notes and didn't feel like venturing to Papyrus or Paper Source. I thought Marshalls would have some because the La Jolla location has plenty, including Kate Spade ones. But this review is about Carmel Mountain Marshalls, which is great! They did have exactly what I was looking for, and many choices, to boot. For $4-5 I could get a box of 16 really cute thank-you cards with envelopes. Their stationary section had a lot of stuff..cute to-do lists, journals, scrapbooks, etc. if I wasn't trying to rush out, I would have poked around some more. The rest of the store looked pretty well organized as far as major categories of things (clothes, kitchen items, gym stuff) and on my way out, in line I saw a lot of different OPI, Essie and even Butter London nail polishes on the shelves (Good idea to put knick knacks such as the polish, and mugs and candles to browse through while one waits in line, btw!). The problem with those was that they were all jumbled up in giant bowls. I probably wouldn't go digging through the mess to actually find a color, with that kind of display..but they did have good prices, based on the ones I looked at! Overall, the store is a little messy in areas (I stopped briefly to look at jewelry but didn't spend too much time there thanks to the fact that most of the pieces were tangled up..) but they do have a lot of stuff for someone who's willing to look! read more

It's been over a decade since I visited Marshall's. But, last month - I saw a "red event" clearance banner sale and decided to check it out @ La Jolla location. Went home and the items were not even in wearable condition. No wonder the items were SO cheap. I didn't try the items on before purchasing. Fast forward, went to go return @ Carmel Mountain since I was nearby running errands. Ridiculous wait time and "so called" protocol plus it took "2" employees for my $14 refund. Hilarious right? I was treated as if I was a fraudulent returner and was told it's protocol because the brand/tag didn't match. Oh, and the tag fell off supposedly after being yanked to be scanned. How am I supposed to know why they don't match? I purchased as is and returned as is. The employee told me, they'll honor the return "this time" but typically I'd have to go back to the location I bought from for a refund since it doesn't match the system. In conclusion, that is some bull. Not worth my time. I asked to speak to a manager. Manager apologized for the wait "but that's protocol". Employee apologized for the miscommunication. Regardless, I will never step foot in this location or any Marshall's again. Update: * I finished writing my review and read other reviews from this location and looks like I'm not the only one who experienced issues with returns. * The employee told me her name was "Karen", and I'm not sure if it was or not as her tag was flipped inside out. read more

Marshalls and TJ Maxx are great stores to have in addition to Ross and other "rack" stores for designers brands for less. If I don't find the right size or color at TJ Max, Marshalls sometimes has it and vice versa. Their prices are about the same as well. read more

I don't get to go shopping these days much as I have a baby and Toddler. It is very hard for me to arrange that although I needed a couple of shirts and I went to this Marshalls. I picked up 3 Shirts. I went to pay for them I realized I need a cable for my iPhone and I picked that up too but I didn't pay much attention to the packaging as I was struggling to get to the register with my two babies. I came home tried the shirts on and realized one of them is not very comfortable ( had no makeup on) so I put it aside to take back and then used the cable and it wasn't working so I put it back to return as well. I go to the store 3 days later and try to return the cable letting her know what was wrong with it and she tells me you have to return it to the manufacturer as this is very beat, It has obviously been used. I explained that I didn't use it but it was like this when I took it out. So the manager comes and he says in a very insulting way that; we do it this time but we will not do it again like he is trying to teach a lesson to me. Both the cashier and manager were very rude. And then the cashier with a very bad attitude is trying to tell me that there is makeup​ on the inside of the shirt and showing it to other cashiers trying to say I am lying. I'm not usually a fan of hunting. I'm more of an instinct shopper. I rarely try things on. I believe certain items of clothing are just meant to be mine... BUT how awesome is this? I see a pair of jeans I like at Nordstrom, but decide to hold off a bit. The next day, I go to Marshall's with a friend and see the same jeans, but they look a bit short. I try them on only to discover that they're already hemmed to the length I'd need them to be with heels on. I buy even though at $100 off Nordstrom prices, they're still pretty expensive. I debate keeping the jeans for a few days, keeping them in the bag with the receipt. Saturday hits and I try them on again. I feel something poking me in the left front pocket and put my hand in. IT'S CASH! $100 off the jeans, plus hemmed to my height (save another $20), and then I found $15 in the pocket. I kept the jeans and $2 went to scratchers. That's definitely my best Marshall's find to date. Maybe I'll find something even better next trip! read more

I'm a recent convert to the discount store world. I've been introduced to Ross and Nordstrom Rack, and am a big fan of each. I went to Marshalls over the weekend and was expecting to love it too, but this place was a huge disappointment. First, the place just feels ghetto. You walk in and you feel like you are picking through the bottom of the barrel. They had a handful of decent brands, but mostly no-name garbage. I managed to find a pair of socks and a phone charger at decent prices, then waited in line for a solid fifteen minutes to pay. I couldn't wait to get out and wash my hands, which I think is a real bad sign. No bueno. Go to your local Ross instead. read more
