The customer service here is terrible. I turned around and walked 10 ft and they take your cart and put everything back. Prob won't spend much money here due to the lack of customer service. I am impressed with the safety precautions in the store. I feel very safe shopping here right now. They clean the register area between every patron and even have aisle direction markers. Pleased that they are doing all they can during this time. Seems like they have more staff available and the store is cleaner and more organized than ever. Omg. This store is super shot out. Clothes and shoes everywhere! The line to check out took well over 15 minutes and 3 ppl behind the counter left while there was at least 10 ppl in line. Marshalls and Ross Stores are like sisters.... Except Marshalls matured fast, started dressing snazzy, and moved to the big city. Ross became the mean, ugly sister who had to start hooking at an early age to make ends meet. I have only started shopping at Marshalls stores this past year, and I can safely say that she is the prettier of the two. In this day and age of financial difficulty it has become evident that I gotta look for a way to save money. I learned something..... You can get pretty decent stuff at Marshalls. I used to be a Ross boy through and through, but their increasing decrease in value and care, both for the staff and merchandise has led me to seek greener pastures elsewhere. I love Marshalls because they carry decent product. The clothing is of decent brands and seems to be in good shape. The same thing goes for the housewares and accessories. Ive been able to find great clothing and other merchandise at this location. They also have "gourmet" food items, beauty, even pet items! The store is bright and airy. Things seem to be organized for the most part, which if you've come from a Ross shopping background you will find particularly enjoyable. There hasnt been any kind of noticeable messes or piles of clothes on the ground that I have seen. I like their fitting rooms, with hangers to actually organize your purchases. "Definitely" , "Maybe" and "tomorrow" or something to that effect. This makes it so much easier than having to wrestle with a pile of clothes, hanging them on any space possible that a hanger will fit on. Big high five for that one, guys! 3.5 Stars. I've been saying that a lot but only because to me, 3 stars on a business looks kind of like a toss up/warning sign and 4 stars looks like it's above average. Marshalls is right between those two. It's not bad for a Marshall's, but there are things I don't like about it here. The store is pretty big, and seems more organized than a 'Ross' store. A little less clutter. The prices here are great. I've bought a bunch of stuff here I thought was cool and didn't have to pay too much for. $12 shorts I liked, $15 hoodies, $10 T shirts. And with cool designs or name brand, not just regular white ones or whatever. They also have a lot of interesting items for your phone/car/lifestyle. I always have a look around that area (right next to the cash registers). Overall, It's a decent place to shop at. The things I don't like are: -The dressings rooms. They're so small in there! And it gets hot fast. Almost nowhere to set your clothes and just 1 long, skinny mirror. -The shoe selection. The shoe selection here isn't that good. And prices are almost the same as anywhere else. The times I've seen cheaper 'Nikes' or other shoes I'd like, they were way ugly haha -The lines. Even during the least busy times of the day, you're still gonna have to wait in a long ass line. And it almost comes out to the same amount of time because there are less registers open during the off times than when it's busy. Always a wait here. And don't even think about coming here any time after Thanksgiving. You WILL be waiting in line for a good 30 minutes. Still, they have a lot of nice stuff here if you kind of know what you're looking for. I like to stop by every once in a while. read more

I could not find anything that I really wanted here. There were a few items that caught my eye but the prices made me shove it back on the shelf. I cant believe this is a discount store. How do you justify $20 t-shirts and $200 blazers ? Explain the pink jeans to me and who in their right mind wears plaid anymore ? The place does have a big selection but theres alot of horrible stuff. I would rather go to Buffalo Exchange or Mens Depot. I browsed through the kitchen supply area and but there was nothing that I needed. Decent stuff though, but alot of low quality saute pans with cheap plastic handles. read more

I usually never have an issue with ANY Marshall's, I love sorting through all their goods! But my last visit to this one was unpleasant. I find lots of stuff for my two dogs here, both Boston Terriers. After finding them some sweaters, I noticed one of them didn't have a tag, but there were multiple of this sweater that all had the same price, $16. So I figured this one that was my dogs size would be the same. I go to checkout and let my cashier know that it was marked $16 for all others but this one had no tag. She's very sweet and calls for backup to price check- standard. They come back 5-10 minutes later and tell me it will be $20. So I politely ask the NEW employee who told me this, if I could speak to the person who priced it. Upset, she said sure and calls over her manager. In front of me, she rudely begins to explain what was happening to her other coworker and they both exchange nasty looks. The manager comes and she again, speaks to her right in front of me saying with rude hand gestures, that she already told me the price. The manager speaks to me and just tells me that because the sweater was bigger it would be more, so I tell her all the other sizes were the same price and she just says sorry. I understand retail is annoying, been there done that. However, you need to realize when a customer is asking a simple question. I don't know the employees name, wish I could've asked, but she was incredibly rude and spoke to her coworkers right in front of me with an attitude. Disappointed..I left the sweater. Had they been nice I wouldn't mind paying the difference! But the fact that you gave me a bad experience, I'll take my business elsewhere and hope you learn some manners! read more

Insanely busy, especially on weekends. So busy, in fact, that they have instituted a high-tech system to quickly move people through check-out. It works pretty well; the wait is not too bad. Personally I don't mind it because I'm always shouldering a bunch of good finds. This location is generally one of the best-stocked among San Diego Marshall's/Ross stores. Thanks to eager crowds, merchandise actually moves off the shelves rather than sitting there for years, and nice brand-name items are relatively abundant. Don't be put off by the cheesy home decor items; this is a good place for cheap towels, sheets, kitchen implements, table settings and the like. Also, I've had great luck finding flattering jeans here, but your mileage may vary. Has a pretty decent shoe selection always being fawned over by gaggles of excited women. However, I usually skip the shoe section here because DSW (right next door) is way better. read more

They should have more shoes and clothes for men! I feel men always get discriminated when it comes to clothing stores in general. But overall, I think their neatness is great compared to many Ross stores I have visited. They do run out of a lot of stuff, but it's a very busy one. Some stuff is still a bit too pricey for what it is, and the percentage off you get from the original price. But you still get a great deal. Oh and also, customer service is not the greatest but you come here for deal hunting so.. deal with it! read more

Love coming here in the early weekend morning hours. I've been here after work but couldn't handle the screaming crying children everywhere, the 10 person deep fitting room line or the mess of clothes the other customers have trashed the place with. In the mornings everything is quiet and everything is organized and the fitting rooms are empty. As far as inventory goes this Marshalls is just okay. I've never found shoes here I've liked or a purse which is pretty impossible for me. Their pajama section is tiny but their juniors clothing section is pretty decent. That's where I shop mostly bc I'm only 5'4 petite is my only other option. Lines can be long for the cashiers but it moves pretty fast. Parking can be horrible here if you come at the wrong times. read more

Actually, I think that this is one of the better Marshall's in San Diego. It has a good section for juniors/teens and solid selection for everything else, e.g., shoes and purses. No section is particularly massive but I've generally seen good stuff. The downside is parking. As is very common with Mission Valley shopping malls, the parking spaces were made for people with smart cars, not SUVs and not even normal sedans, which barely seem to fit. read more

I seem to get the most AMAZING and helpful service here whenever I come. Today it was unrequested, but appreciated, help lifting some glass pots and figuring out how to get the basket to open up in the shopping cart. I've only made one purchase here, and I only looked at one section, but I was really pleased. I was looking for something at DSW Shoe Warehouse next door. I went there based on the reviews here on Yelp and I was really disappointed. The prices weren't anything special and neither was the merchandise. I left pretty quickly. I almost didn't come in here because the Marshall's nearer my house is always a bit of a disaster and their shoe section isn't anything worthwhile at all. But I loved what they had here! The had quite a nice selection at really reasonable prices. Not too many high-end brands, but known and decent ones. I saw at least six pairs of boots I wanted, but I got exactly what I was looking for in the Chinese Laundry brand Montreal Antique, which were $35, a 46% discount. One great thing is that they had the boxes stacked down low in isolated racks, almost like dispensers, which meant picking out the correct size was as simple as pulling it out. They were even organized correctly from smallest size to largest. If you're on a genuine budget but you expect the most for your dollar, this is a really good shoe section. I intend to go back. (Side note, I see a lot of complaints about the cleanliness of this place. Based on my experience with the Clairemont Marshall's, I don't doubt them, but this Marshall's was clean and tidy when I was there. Maybe they've cleaned up their act.) read more

I always want to like this Marshalls. I really do. The home section has a wide variety of things for baking, cooking, and food storage. It also had some smaller bid of furniture. The pet section isn't too shabby, though it's not great. But folks, I'm tiny and this Marshalls never had anything in my size. I've looked hard too. Whether it's work out clothes, a cardigan for work, a pair of jeans, etc, I can't find it. Not in the regular section or the teens section. It's just disappointing. This Marshalls is always crowded to the gills. I've been in the morning and evening and many times between. It is always crowded and a bit of a mess. Still if you're looking for a good deal in home goods, this place is a little better than the Ross nearby. But if you're a smaller sized lady and looking for a steal, stay home or go elsewhere. Note: This review is based solely off of the men's department for clothing All of the big box discount stores like Marshall's and TJ Maxx and Ross etc., offer great deals on expensive brands and you can usually find some decent stuff at these types of stores. This store is an average size, which is usually relatively big. However, the men's section of the store is so small that I had to ask for help to make sure that I wasn't missing a section somewhere else in the store lol - no joke! Honestly, and this is no exaggeration, the men's department is approximately the size of... Umm, ???? I'm actually at a loss for words because I can't figure out something to compare it to that is that small lol. I would have to say that it is smaller than the average snack shop at a gas station - no lie! I'm not sure who their marketing to, but I know who it is not: Men. No biggie they do have a good selection of other stuff especially considering that the size of the store is decent and since they have so little clothing for men it leaves more room for other stuff LOL. read more

There is no organization whatsoever in this place, I'm sure you can find something...that's on the FLOOR. Even a thrift store is CLEANER and more organized than this Marshalls! I won't even begin to tell you about the smell of this place, I never come here unless I have to just to see if they have it, but this place is also PRICEY, like really? Crop Pants for $24.99 plus the dirt from shoes because it was probably on the floor like the rest of their clothing there. Their selection of clothing is also not so great, this is why ROSS is better, and Ross has better bargains than this joint! I'm only happy to buy pants that were on clearance but to me were still super expensive because $12 for interview pants just won't cut it for me. I always end up finding something here I cannot live without! It's like a treasure hunt. I find less and less home goods at this location, better to go the affiliate TJ MAXX - HOME GOODS when looking for those. I like this location much better than the one in Chule Vista which is way too messy and hard to shop in. Compared to ROSS, even when the lines are out the door Marshall's checkout moves quickly. Most the help is extremely friendly, except one very loud portly middle aged obnoxious one... which may no longer be there as I have not seen him in a while. read more

Terrible service and product! I bought a pair of Liz Claiborne boots from the store and put it away in the closet as the weather was warm. I pulled them out to wear for a trip to Spain. The sides on both boots were peeling off. The male sales clerk refused to refund my money, claiming that I must have bought the shoes ten years ago. I have not even lived here ten years. I did not have a receipt because I never intended to return the shoes. A pair of unworn shoes should be wearable, not peeling off in small pieces, even on their counter top. I love home goods. I hate this location. This store is an absolute disaster. Shelves are crammed so full that you can't find anything. I come here every now and then and I've never seen it clean or organized. The marshalls side for some reason is?- but the home goods side is a mess. Half the stuff is broke from being shoved together. This place needs staff that can organize and they need to not try to cram so much crap into it. Save some frustration and just go to Point Loma (great store!) or El Cajon. read more

I would give it 4 stars if this one girl that works there didn't give my mother attitude. Jeez, show my mom some respect! Anyways, so service has its ups and downs. Some employees working hard, some are just tired of hanging all the clothes that are going to be misplaced anyway. But shopping here isn't that bad. They have a good selection of brand name clothing at some pretty good prices. This place and Ross is kind of a toss up though. If you can't find what you're looking for at Marshalls, then go to Ross. Vice Versa. This place sucks in the Holidays though, so do your shopping early. Maybe it would be nice to go earlier in the day when not too many people have rummaged through the store. p.s. No one shops at Marshalls for their great customer service... you shop there for deals. But I think they could do a lot more with a loyalty program, and a little more consistency. It's like from one Marshall's to another, you really don't know if you're getting the Walmart Marshalls or the boutique one... so how to rate? I still enjoy it, and love scoping the deals. read more

I usually shop at the Marshalls closer to my house but my friends wanted to go to Mission Valley Mall, and since we were in the area decided to go check out Marshalls across the street. When I went to the fitting room with my friends to try on outfits the line was long! Also the employee at the front gave me attitude . When I got in the fitting room it was so dirty! I didn't even want to get undressed. When we came back out two of the employees were arguing. Not professional. My friend got their names. I've been here a lot of times, but today I was a tad outraged by the way I was treated. The attendant told me to get out of the disabled fitting room and go use another one, WRONGLY assuming that, because she could not SEE a disability, none existed. She was mistaken, but she just didn't get it, so naturally, she did not apologize. The experience was humiliating. Disabled folks have it hard enough. Being judged for not "looking the part" is just another load of crap we have to deal with on the daily. read more
