I can appreciate a commitment to a look and I understand, This isn't a corner office job with six figure salary. But isn't it supposed to be a stepping stone? A place to learn basic workplace skills? Things like standing confidently,making eye contact, acknowledging customers, and exchanging a few words before moving onto the next person. These aren't advanced business strategies. Their life skills. The management team should know better. And please don't tell me the applicant pool is shallow. Maybe it is. If so, work harder, search harder. Find the people who actually want to work, who want to learn, and who understand every job teaches something valuable. As for self check out, I used to think Walmart installed those lanes to save labor costs. Now I'm convinced they are there for customers like me -people who would rather scan their own groceries then leave feeling slightly depressed about the future workforce and the manager's responsible for developing it.

However, this location is one of the…read more"express" type stores...meaning, it is smaller with less inventory than your larger / average store. It is a little less predictable on what they will have and it is recommended that you check the app to see the likelihood of whether what you need is a) carried and b) in stock. It, like most stores, has the Starbucks up front and accepts the red card and target circle. There are a few cashier lines and self checkout lines. One area that usually is a pain is the women's dressing room area. Given the size of the store, it is in the middle with only two "rooms". One is very small with no seat and the other is large with a bench. The hanging rack is small so it can get crowded and when in the little one, there is limited space to put your personal items. The fitting rooms can get very backed up with items despite the go back rack/bin right outside which is partially on the customer but also on the staff to make sure it is maintained. There usually is not an attendant standing there, so make sure you unlock the door when you leave so it doesn't get locked leaving someone else unable to get in after you. And if it is really busy, i would recommend that you go over to the men's side as that is often open. I would recommend this store if you are in a hurry or need something in particular and it's a small/targeted run - otherwise, you may want to go to the Woburn or Saugus location.

I found a few cute items that I was going to buy and was standing looking at some dresses on a rack, when one of the employees with a name tag that said MIA accosted me out of nowhere. She said, "Did you touch that dress?" She was pointing at a dress to my right on a different rack than the one I was looking at that was hanging half way off of the hanger. I responded no to her smiling and said thank you but I am not interested in that dress. Then she got very aggressive with me and said, "If you touched that dress and it's not hung up correctly then you should make sure you put it back right." I had no idea what she was talking about, I never looked at nor touched the dress. Then it occurred to me that she was implying that I was inconsiderate towards her, which was crazy since I didn't even do anything, but let's say hypothetically that I did. I have worked at numerous clothing stores and would never start yelling at a customer for not hanging up something correctly. I would just fix it because it was my job. Anyway, she continued to come after me with an intense look in her eyes and I was very uncomfortable, so I left the items I was going to buy and texted my husband to meet me at the front of the store. I told one of the employees at the front what happened and he just stared at me and said, "Ummm there's the manager." The manager he pointed to was an older man in a disheveled outfit and gruff demeanor, I think his name was Vincent, and when I told him what happened he said, "Well I wasn't there so I don't know who said what or what happened." I was absolutely shocked by his response. I was clearly shaken up and he made no effort to hear me or make me feel better. It was kind of shocking, I mean, this is the level of professionalism that Nordstrom Rack has with its leadership and customer service? It is a joke. At a minimum he should have apologized and attempted to make me feel better. I HAVE been a manager and I would have apologized to the customer, would have said I would speak to the employee, and that we value your support of our store. It's obvious Nordstrom Rack at this Danvers location could care less how they run the store (which is always a mess), or the people they hire. This was a hugely disappointing experience. My husband and I have always spent a lot of money there, but they have lost us as customers.

I found out this store about a decade ago. it's a well kept secret even though it's a huge building…read moreon route one in Saugus right next-door to Kowloons. They even have a driveway that connects both parking lots so I usually exit Kowloons exit rather than Ocean States. After finding a parking spot, you have to check out potted plants, and seasonal goods in front of the building. If you want to purchase some, you have to bring them inside purchase. Once inside the building, it's almost like a maze. There's so many different ways you can go through this building. Suggest you plan to explore. They have something for everybody everybody. Basically they have everything you could possibly think of under one roof. Linens, garden accessories, clothing, food, house, supplies, even rugs. For me, I head right over to the food section. I have a lot of fun here. As a foodie, they have all kinds of different specialty foods mostly from around New England, but some from the world. I enjoy reading packages that I've never seen before some healthy some not. They have some nice healthy organic items mixed in with miscellaneous therapy, sugary salty items. I tend to buy a lot of my canned fish here. They have kippers, herring, tuna and sardines, all in good virgin olive oil water no additives. I stock up on these as they are an excellent value. A few other products that I usually purchase while I'm here I'll be organic pastas made from vegetables. Also some of the tomato sauces and marinades excellent selection available. Be prepared to stand in line as they only have a few clerks one or two open at a time even when the store is busy. Please don't complain because I believe this is what keeps the pricing low. Kudos to Ocean State for self checkouts. I applaud this. As for cleanliness, it's probably a five on a 10 star scale. When you go here, just assume you're shopping in basically a big warehouse. Employee wise the clerks and managers always seem to have a pretty good attitude here I've spoke to a few of them and they seem very nice always polite willing to help the customer. I've only had interaction with them at a cash register, but they all seem pleasant to me. A bonus make sure you sign up for that emails because they have what they call crazy deals. This is huge people. They have special items when you purchase them they give you the same or a dollar value back on a card. if you shop correctly, it's very lucrative for your pocketbook. For example, they have one small area in the back usually has about 10 or 20 items on it. If you get lucky enough and you want to purchase these items every time you spend $10 on these items they give you a gift card for $10.. These are always food items in the back they call it eat for free. Last time I was in the store I got lucky. They had three types of tuna pouches in this section. I was lucky enough that one of them. The only ingredients were tuna, spices, and virgin olive oil. Usually for an ingredient reader like me I don't get lucky on this table, but this time I did. Turned out to be a great day at Ocean State for me as they also had a few will get a soups with great ingredients on the table at the same time. I don't think it's a record however I spent $170 and I left it with an $89 gift card. Good on future purchases and the gift card is good for anything in the entire store. I would say, read the flyer and see what crazy deals are available and make your way over to the eat for free section. Maybe you'll get lucky. ENJOY‼.

So I went to the regular wrapping. They left a very large metal thing used to stock IN FRONT OF THE MERCHANDISE just outside a doorway that led to a storage room. Perhaps they could have left it inside there leaving room for us to see the merchandise. On my way out of the store I passed by a whole display of seasonal bags, foil wrapping paper, etc. right behind where I asked employee if they had seasonal gift wrap. When I saw her again, I said "here's the holiday wrapping". "Yup" she said. I only go there if I need something I might get cheaper there than CVS. Today I bought "scotch tape". I think it was from the 50's. I'm done. I hope they close and a decent looking store moves in. I know the town is desperate to fill empty store fronts, but stores like this are not attracting the kinds of stores we want in the downtown.

The Chick-fil-A in Northshore Mall was one of the only locations that Massachusetts had at that point in time (I believe?) or at least the only one I had visited as a kid because the ones near me had not arrived yet. Northshore Mall is the only mall in MA to have a JCPenney now. Still a pretty lively & busy mall when I last visited about a week ago! As I walked through the mall, it felt a bit dated compared to the other malls (Natick, Burlington, etc). Very early 2000s kind of vibe with a mix of some popular stores you'd find at most shopping malls, along with a couple small businesses... they've even got a barber shop in here! Overall, I find that not much has changed at Northshore. Seems like an okay mall for quick, casual shopping. Nordstroms will be gone soon and replaced with a Dick's Sporting Goods. I wouldn't go out of my way to shop here, however, it was still nice to visit!

As mentioned before, the parking lot can be a zoo since people seem to park, go into Market Basket, and stock up on food like they have never seen it before, but park way over on the side and just run right in.
