We have been here on several occasions over the years and the food has been consistently good. The service however is very slow, impersonal, and frankly unprofessional! The staff does not appear to enjoy working, has no real sense of urgency, and none of them ever have a smile on their face. The teenage hostess barely greeted us and played with her phone while we waited for a seat at the bar. Meanwhile there were tables that needed to be cleaned. I understand that there is staff shortages but seriously pay people more and expect some accountability. We were at the bar recently on a Sunday mid day and it was not busy but we still waited 10 minutes to even be greeted by the bartender. He must not have been trained in service and made our experience very unpleasant. We asked for water several times, he never checked back once we received our food, and we had to ask for the check too. UNACCEPTABLE! We had dinner there food is extremely average and the service is painstakingly slow. They get very busy and no longer take reservations so maybe the waitstaff was overwhelmed. I have been a loyal customer for over 15 years at Marshside. Our family considers it a top fav place. Great food. Excellent views. Typically good service. After a day on the beach, a few weeks ago, my sister and I stopped in to enjoy a quick cocktail & appetizer. This was on a Tuesday at 4pm. The restaurant was serving one party on the porch and two people at the bar. Basically, empty! We stood waiting to be greeted at the hostess desk for 10 mins. We requested a table on the porch to enjoy the sun and marsh view. The hostess told us we could "only sit at the bar" -- though the entire restaurant was empty. A beautiful day, we didn't want to sit inside at the bar. We decided to leave for lack of accommodation and her mannerism. There really is no excuse for her poor service or lack of consideration to our request in light of the hour. The busier dinner hour was at the very least 1 hour away. Wow, wow-amazing Main Lobster Roll! Since we were leaving the Cape firvthe season we decided we needed to leave with having one more Lobster Roll in our bellies. Some, we happened upon this lovely establishment and ordered our Lobster Rolls to go. Well, once we were revived by the sticker shock ($32 a roll), we happily devoured these delightful, delicious, well proportioned masterpieces. The bun was toasted to the right buttery browness, there was just the right amount of lettuce to mayo to lobster meat ratio. It was scrumptious. Such a lovely peaceful setting from the covered porch to the beautiful marsh views. Thats where the best begins and ends. The menu is diverse but they just can't get it right. Oyster appetizer served after the main course is set down! We ordered 3 diff glasses or wine. One came out right! The sparking bubbly rose ordered ended up a glass of rose! And a glass of pinot gris was reported not available! 2 out of 3 of our party ordered swordfish.... sadly it was clearly frozen fish, and the accompanying broccolini was grossly overcooked. Lest I forget to mention how poor the service was... we sat with two dinners in front of us and heard our third meal being mistakenly put in front of someone around the other end of the porch! I had to go inside to find the pasta and clams actually sitting at the hostess station! You can not make this up! There was nothing redeeming---apart from the setting. Give this restaurant a miss. There are so many other options, and serving frozen swordfish on the Cape with it's abundance of amazing fresh seafood, is just inexcusable. read more

What a lively and lovely place to dine. We are vegetarian and the hostess of the inn we were staying in highly recommended this to us. We had a .30 min wait and because my son was already hungry we started with a bag of fresh cookies from the entrance counter. Delicious !! When we were seated , we ordered the eggplant rolatini and Parmesan potato fries. Vanished in seconds . Finger licking delicious !! For main course we ordered Greek pasta , veg burger and a huge ceased salad ! The pasta was so light and well seasoned and tasty. The burger was not bad, my husband thought it was good. Extremely dissatisfied. The waitress was the worst I've ever experienced. She was an absolutely miserable person. We had a reservation for 7:30 and this was our first (and last) time there. When we asked her about wines she had no knowledge so we chose something and a few appetizers while we looked over the menu. She came back and informed us that we needed to hurry to decide to put our order in as the kitchen closed at 8:30. It was 7:40 and we had been given a 7:30 reservation!?! She brought our children's drinks that were in paper cups with lids. My daughter went to take hers and the lid wasn't on properly and the entire drink spilled which of course put her in a worse mood. My 6 year old daughter asked for some olive oil as she wizzed past our table and when she returned with it she scolded my daughter and that next time she should say please! If it wasn't for my husband that had just drove 6 hours to reunite with us after having to go home to take care of his business for the hurricane, and that we had just driven 20 minutes to get there and we were hungry I would have gotten up and walked out. In hindsight I would have rather left hungry. The food was subpar. 2 out of 7 dishes were good. Everything else was bland. When we got the check my husband put cash in the tab book and she never returned with change. She had come past our table again without the tab book and said "Have a good night" so she obviously wasn't coming back and now had given herself a 25% tip that she absolutely did not deserve! We would have left 20% regardless of the service because we feel it's just the right thing to do since the bus people shouldn't be punished for her horrible attitude and poor service. My parents suggested I Google the closest restaurant after finishing up a fun day sightseeing in Dennis. Although I had a couple of other dinner destinations in mind, my dad was tired of driving and we were all very hungry. Therefore, Marshside, only a quick 8 minutes away and with decent reviews, was the winner. We were a bit unfamiliar with the area, but we left our fate in the hands of GPS. We assumed we should be on the lookout for a marsh, hence the name. Soon a beautiful building appeared, similar in design to an 'arts and crafts' style colonial home, with a large front porch overlooking the marshlands. The building appears to be newer construction or a recent renovation. It is very spacious, modern, and trendy with a cathedral ceiling, open floor plan, large stone fireplace, and exposed beam ceiling. Huge picture windows at the far end of the dining room allow for spectacular views of the marsh. An upscale feel, yet goes a little easier on the wallet. The prices, however, are a bit too high for the quality of food. Upon entering the parking lot, we were greeted by a valet parking booth. My dad prefers to be very independent so he politely declined the valet service and found his own parking spot. It seemed as though the valet service was almost mandatory, however, or perhaps encouraged. We learned later, after listening in on a conversation between a customer and manager during dinner, that the valet service is necessary due to the small parking lot. During peak dinner times, cars are parked in tandem to reserve space. Therefore, the valet drivers keep the keys and shuffle cars around as needed. We had a very efficient server. She was fast and checked on us often. Oh how I wish I could remember her name. She was very friendly and had a bit of an accent. The one thing that bugged me a bit, the use of the phrase "Is everything delicious?" I know she was trained to say this of course. Delicious? Well, let's not get carried away now. It's good. If you are familiar with my other reviews....wait...you have been reading my other reviews right?? If so, clearly I'm a fan of more traditional, home style comfort foods. I prefer restaurants which maintain their classic charm to the trendy places, although trendy is fun sometimes too. I had planned to take my parents to a more "old school" seafood dive in the area today. Marshside is primarily a seafood oriented restaurant with a sort of gourmet, trendy twist. The menu is seafood with a balance of chicken, beef, and some Italian fare. The restaurant offers a decent selection of appetizers, salads, burgers/sandwiches, and entrees. Something for everyone. We started our meal with a round of clam chowders. The chowder had a different flavor with a spice I couldn't quite place. I would have preferred it without the spice. The clams were quite chewy as well. For dinner we all chose fish n chips. I've been trying to avoid fried foods, but the baked haddock seemed to have an Italian flair and sounded a bit different, so I decided to play it safe. The fish n chips were good - crispy batter, not too thick. A decent portion as well. I think the $17.95 price tag is a little too high though. We had asked for rolls, but since we arrived pre-dinnertime the rolls weren't ready. Our server brought us a cranberry sweet bread and some Parmesan crackers instead. The sweet bread was really good! It's funny, I feel like the bread was the most memorable part of my meal today. It's hours later and I'm still thinking about that bread. Recipe please?! This marsh front restaurant offers a really nice atmosphere and decent food. We had a good experience today. I am not sure it's a place I would intentionally return to again, but I do recommend it if you are in the area. Three and a half shiny stars it is. Not sure I can push it to four, as I've given four stars out to restaurants that have a real "wow" factor. That cranberry bread though, now that's worthy of four stars. This was probably the worst meal I had on the cape. The fish was not fresh and overcooked. I had to send it back and the next one was no better. My friend had baked stuffed haddock, which looked like a sauce of mayonnaise and ketchup was poured over it. Over all, very disappointing. I ordered the Artisan Salad which consisted of romaine, strawberries, with a small amount of nuts & cheese with dressing on the side. It is not served with any type of cracker or bread. I have eaten there many times throughout the years & have watched a steady decline in food quality & service. The salad that was on the menu for several years & I always ordered was served with a large delicious cracker, neither on the menu any longer. The romaine lettuce used in the Artisan Salad had not been washed & no attempt had been made to disguise this. The leaves were torn from the stalk & were still dirty or contaminated as the torn ends had a reddish-brown hue. I didn't eat this part of the leaf but the whole salad was mixed together so coming in contact with the leaves was unavoidable. I asked for some bread or roll as I didn't eat much of this salad & after a long wait I was given a toasted plain English muffin, no butter. My stomach started to hurt as I left the restaurant. I spent the afternoon & the whole evening with severe stomach cramps, vomiting & diarrhea, body sweats & a temperature. The next day I checked my symptoms on line & on the website, www.iwaspoisoned.com the see if I had salmonella poisoning. As it was confirmed I was allowed to post my the information on their website including the name of the restaurant & after their review they posted it on the website. Excellent restaurant! Booked our Easter Brunch for four and a baby and had a blast. Our server, and all the other staff as well, we're friendly, jovial and accommodating. The view is great at pretty much every table, the place is well lit and has an open and airy feel because of the huge, peaked open ceiling. The tables didn't feel squished and there are many booths lining the perimeter. There is a big front porch and ample waiting area that has toys in drawers to entertain the little brats before you are seated if you didn't plan ahead enough to reserve a table. We ate buffet style and it was mostly brunch fare but there was a sirloin and turkey carving station as well as a scrod offering and salad, fruit and veg galore! The scrod and meats were so so, but all the salad and fruit was fresh and tasty. The breakfast items were fantastic! I know a good eggs benedict and these were just about perfect. I ate four over our time there....it is a buffet after all. Bacon and sausage were very tasty and the "in house" desserts were very very good. Little lemon tart dealies, carrot cake squares and chocolate ganache squares were some of our favs. The mini danishes deserve a mention as well. Not a fan of the valet parking without letting people know when they make a rez but we did a quick turn around and were able to secure two spots in front of the place at the perfect time two other cars left. Our first time there for a lunch on a Monday. Prices; steep (especially after seeing the portions they give you). Service; less than adequate. Very stuffy wait person (it was not busy, less than half the seats taken. View; you look out over a marsh.... We ordered 2 baked haddock $28 (mashed potatoes and asparagus sides). A caesar salad ($16) and add on salmon ($18 - C'mon man). And finally a hamburger with cheese and bacon ($18). OK. we knew the prices once we sat down and figured these are typical tourist screw prices but we were hungry and not tourists so roll the dice. About 35-40 minutes later (no bread apps and like I said it was not busy) the food comes out. Just barely warm. BARELY WARM! I opted for veggie side with the burger and ditched the bun (keto style). Veggie was broccolini and less than barely warm, edging on cold. Burger was cooked right but COLD. Haddock came out and warm with cold mashed pots. Both servings. Haddock portions may have been 4 ounces. Salmon was the only thing hot on the salad. And that portion maybe 4-5 ounces. Waitress, who spent much of the time we were waiting for the food, observed goofing around with the manager who sat in the middle of the restaurant on the computer, comes by and we tell her the food tastes good but everything except the salmon was less than warm. She replied they could replace the meals. We stated we did not want to wait around another 40 minutes, watch my daughter eat her salmon then eat our food. When she came back she told us she comp'd the glass of wine and 2 beers off the bill. She again reminded us we could have gotten the food prepared again. I advised her we should have had the meals served hot in the first place and did not want to wait (again). We requested the manager whom told us he would look into it. We stated he needed to look into what he needed to do for us right there and then. Waitress comes back with bill and the two fish plates were comp'd. Still paid full price for the cold burger. Waitress definitely must have spaced out getting the food out on time for it to be cold upon serving. Tourist trap....... Never again.... no excuses..... read more

Came with my wife and two kids. Service was fantastic and they were so patient with the kids (4&6.). The cocktail was amazing ('apple old fashioned) and my wife enjoyed her watermelon sangria! Went to Marshside and I have an extreme food allergy Alpha Gal Syndrome from a Lone Star Tick. They understood my allergy and knew about it. Cooked my food in a separate pan and I didn't get sick. This allergy can be fatal and I haven't been out to dinner for years. It was such a great experience and the staff was so understanding. If the rating was 1-10. I would give them 1,000. When we arrived we were greeted at the front stand (albeit not very warmly, but hey, it was busy) by the hostess/manager. We ordered a nice and well priced bottle of wine e; it was served promptly and at a perfect temperature. The food itself was somewhat disappointing. One appetizer arrived 10 min after everyone else's. The waitress apologized and, hey, it was busy. Our mains were okay, not great by any means. not as good as expected. We were all a bit disappointed. There was also a bit of an issue with the same hostess/manager. Not a big deal but not handled the way it should have been. But again, hey, it was busy. Net, this is a nice place and the atmosphere is lovely. I'll give them a break on the services given these times but the hostess/manager could certainly have been nicer (that is quite literally the job) but not a deal breaker. The food itself was subpar though. So go for the ambience but don't expect a gourmet dining experience. read more

There were small mistakes with quite a few items for which the waitress blamed everyone but herself. At the end she added an item to the bill that had not been consumed by our party. Everything was 4 to 4.5 stars for an overall 5 star experience. Bread basket with blueberry bread was elite as bread baskets go. Roasted Cod was very good though a shade overdone on the edges. Service was reasonable given how busy this place is. Dessert, the 'Oh My', was warm, rich and highly recommended if you have a sweet tooth for rich chocolate. My wife rated dessert 6 stars. We stopped here spur of the moment while driving around Dennis to see the beautiful beaches. Politely greeted, promptly sat at a big booth with spectacular view, and quickly fed. I had the special cheesesteak and my man had fish and chips. The fries were hot and crispy - couldn't stop eating them! We were both happy with our meals and the excellent wait staff. He was polite, knowledgeable and generally pleasant. Will be back! One star off for a few minor picky things. No bread for the table, cheesesteak served on a mushy large hot dog type roll, not like a delicious crusty roll, and my man's fish & chips were dripping in the fry oil. Without a doubt, the best lobster roll I've ever had. Perfectly buttery grilled roll filled with claw and tail meat and not too much mayo. My lunch came with sweet potato fries (also delicious) and home made coleslaw. Superb and attentive service. I'm so glad we came here! Recommendation: the mimosa is also delicious! Wonderful place overlooking the marsh in Dennis. They have a pre-fix menu that was extensive, reasonably priced and very good.

Need to clean their fish better especially when it's beer battered! Nothing like getting stabbed by multiple fish bones! Told waitress and all I got was an "oh well"! Cole slaw very bland. Not worth the $$$. read more
