THEY ACTUALLY HAVE SO MANY PASTRIES IT is actually insane. I walked in there and the display case was like a mile long. They have everything from pies to cake to cupcakes to cookies to puddings. We got the Tiramisu cheesecake and it was good nice bc it had a mousse layer and cheesecake layer which I thought was a nice balance and offered variety of texture and flavor. Both the mousse and cheesecake were delicious. the coffee flavor was super strong and I was pleasantly surprised how tiramisu flavor esque it was. Also tried the banana cream pie and it was also decent. Like lowkey there was wayyyy too much whipped cream to banana pie ratio. It was massive though and the whipped cream was good like I would eat it alone. But I also wanted more banana part. They offer table service so you can't really order to go and then sit down which kind of sucks. But they have seating inside if u want table service. Otherwise get to go and eat elsewhere I guess. Martha's was an unexpected late night stop on a Saturday night. We first went to the location down the street and it was fully packed at 10pm. We walked 6 minutes to this location and got a table right away. It was a cozy spot to talk with friends and share some sweet treats. Both locations have a long case filled with every dessert ever invented. Truly, there is something for everyone at Martha's. Cakes, cookies, pies, etc. Our table tried to order the warm chocolate cake but unfortunately they were sold out. The waitress suggested a slice of dark chocolate fudge cake that they could heat up and add a scoop of vanilla ice cream to it. Along with that, we ordered a Nutella cheesecake, a dark hot chocolate, and a peanut butter dark chocolate. The peanut butter dark chocolate was so good! I would definitely order again. The dark hot chocolate was rich and warm. Both of these were great drinks. The dark chocolate fudge cake was fine, but nothing spectacular. We really enjoyed the cheesecake but the Nutella flavor did not come through at all, it just tasted like a classic cheesecake. Even so, the table preferred the cheesecake over the chocolate slice. This was a great spot to meet up with friends late night! When you want to sit and talk after dinner without going home yet. I would recommend checking it out. read more

The presentation may appear gorgeous and delicious, but it has that gross "freezer burn" taste like this tart has been in the display for quite some time. It's mediocre at best, wouldn't pay $10 for this. Also, their tiramisu is Too wet/ soaking. Found out the reason why tiramisu becomes extremely soaked it's because it was kept frozen then thawed to sell. Came here for a dessert on a Friday night and this place was fully seated, lucky a table just got up and we were promptly seated - suffice to say this a popular place. We got the Nutella Hot Colocate, which I really liked although I didn't think it was sweet enough, on the other hand it wasn't burning hot so I was able to enjoy it right away. Banana Nutella Creme Brulee was a sad disappointment, I assumed it would be a mixture of those flavors - part of the creme, but it was a very large sized creme brulee with sliced bananas on top and nutshell drizzled on top as well. The creme brulee itself wasn't good, but it did have a pretty presentation. Strawberry Short Cake was really delicious and would get it again. We go the Oatmeal Raisin Cookie to go and the person who got it said it was really good. Let me start by saying the cakes and pastries at this bakery are phenomenal, this has always been one of my favorites in the city, and I make the trip from Staten Island to Brooklyn regularly to get desserts for my family. That said my experience tonight, will prevent me from EVER returning to this location again. I found the staff to be extremely rude and condescending. The waitress had an attitude the entire time she served my party, didn't want to answer questions about the cakes, and brushed aside concerns. They also added a 18% gratuity to my check with no clear signage or verbiage, when speaking with the manager to get the AUTO GRATUITY removed from our bill, we were told it is the LAW to tip, and that they can choose to add tip to parties with no notification. That's just not true. While some of the party was talking to the manger, the waitress came over to berate the remaining party for not wanting to tip her. When bringing this to the managers attention, we were told we were clearly lying because she wouldn't have done it. Why 5 people would lie about that after you have already reverse, the gratuity is beyond me! I really hope they do better in the future, because this is a great way to lose the loyal following you have, and in this economy that is a death sentence. I came in tonight on this freezing evening craving Mississippi Mud Pie and I had such luck that they were having a $3.50 pie slice special!
