Well we tried Martha's today for lunch and OMG I could have cried into my consomé IT WAS FABULOUS! I did a little research before I went as it was my first time trying Birria tacos. Seemed to be many think Martha's is the best so we will go with that! I didn't realize how small the restaurant is and was lucky enough to get a sit down seat for me and my toddler! There are 2 low 4 tops and maybe 3(?) high tops I didnt see how many stools each had. Luckily they even had a high chair for us. My daughter was having a rough day and got a little boisterous when we were trying to get situated and when another diner got her food, she offered some fries to us to help calm her shortly after the girl running the counter arrived with MORE life-saving fries! The sweetest and smallest gesture that turned out being a lifesaver until our food arrived. On to our food. As I mentioned, we came for Birria tacos and they were incredible! I couldn't believe the flavor and complexity of flavor! I'm hooked for sure. We also got the shrimp street tacos and they were also phenomenal. The two balanced each very other well. We hot the choriqueso with chips and that was really good too. We went ahead and dumped some on my daughter's "paci-friers" (get it pacifier and fries) for some drama! While we were eating the beautiful girl running the show said "we have homemade coconut milk" so I was like sure.. AMAZING! Seriously so good and refreshing to counteract all the bold flavors coming from the tacos. To round it all out we took flan home along with all the leftovers. I always order as to have leftovers plus the 2yo needs a nap. Such a little hole in the wall place. My friend suggested this place and I was so confused when we pulled up to the address. The sign for Maratha's is a sign for Bella's. Very confusing but happy we went here!! The staff was so welcoming and informative of the options of the menu. They showed us to the QR code with photos of the food. I split the birria nachos with my friend and got the three birria tacos for myself. They were delicious. The food took ~15 minutes to come out. The spices and ingredients were great. I really enjoyed both and they were both filing. I got to take leftovers home. The three tacos were ~$12. Really enjoyed my experience here! read more

It's a small place in a neighborhood with amazing food. Definitely try it, I did a carry out chicken fajitas. The fajitas were so beautiful looking with colors of the veggies and tasty. I had so much it lasted me two days. I love that the soda comes in a bottle so you don't have to worry about the ice melting and it's more hygienic. Our first visit I was tricked by the big Bella's pizza over the entrance. But there is a street sign with Martha's name on it. We ordered 3 birria tacos and 3 pastor street tacos. These were quite tasty. Then not knowing better, I ordered birria and noodles...aka birria ramen. It was a huge bowl...see my pictures. I ended up taking most of a quart home for another meal. WOW. What an awesome hole in the wall place with a confusing location. They have a sign that says "Bellas" and we were very confused at first. But once you walk in and smell the tacos, you know you're in the right place We got birra nachos and a chicken quesedilla. Amazing!! I was very impressed with the taste of the meat. Flavorful and tons of meat packed onto both. The birria was simillar to barbacoa meat and we loved it. The nachos had a good amount of cheese and sour cream and onions too. The quesedillas were excellent! Perfect crispy and melty goodness. I'd eat them all the time if I could. Chicken wasn't dry or anything, great flavor, and awesome size. One thing we didn't love was ordering online, no menus in the store and the sign issue but it's all worth it. They're waiting for those to get made, I believe? Overall this place is tiny and had very few seats and you order at the counter. But it's all very very worth it. We will absolutely make the trip to come here. I see why everyone loves it. The online ordering is an interesting experience. The former Bella pizza still has the old signage up and really doesn't look appealing from the street. When I went in every socially distanced table was taken. The food that was flying out to serve the tables looked amazing. The first item up was a Cafe de Olla. It tasted like a watered down earthy coffee with deep cinnamon flavors and grounds at the bottom of the cup.Which sums up a Cafe de Olla perfectly from every description I've found, so they made it authentically. The cheesy garlic bread was warm and flaky and went well with the red and green sauce for the Birria Quesadilla. The pizza (yes there is still pizza) was lightly sauced and not too greasy. The Brillo Quesadilla was filled with meat. So much so that I used the sauces for the cheese bread instead. read more

This family run Mexican restaurant in South Linden is on the small size. They just went through a renovation, so they now have done-in seating. The menu is quite extensive. My eyes got overwhelmed three-fourths of the way, so I went with their namesake Birria Quesadilla. Wow, excellent, super tender, melt in your mouth shredded beef with wonderful consumé that was full of flavor but didn't overshadow the birria. Lots of cheese to accompany the protein - another layer to the flavor-bomb! I brought my mother along, her first time trying a birria, and she's hooked. Martha's is a prime example of an independent business that's shining on their own legitimate merit and letting their food do the talking. This is the place you want. I don't know if you're still deciding on what to get or not but stop the search and go to Martha's. My girl got the birria tacos and I got the shrimp tacos. All flavors were heaven and the char on the shrimp is making my mouth water just thinking about it again. The guacamole was freshly made and paired perfectly with the warm chips. This place is a GEM. I used to live around the corner and I so wish I still did just for this. I drove a half hour for it and I'd do it again. I tried to call ahead but couldn't get through. It was a Saturday and this team of just three (!) were cranking out meals as fast as they could. I agreed to a 30 minute wait and sat down. A steady stream came in and by the time I got my food and was leaving the wait was up to an hour and a half! And yes, it's worth it, just plan accordingly. The Quesapizza thing is a beautiful monster of a meal and I'm obsessed with it now. A great meal for two. And it traveled well. I'm thinking about it daily. read more

The first time we were here, we got the al pastor quesadilla. Insanely good, and the portions are huge. The second time, we got the burrata tacos. Also insanely good, and also huge portions. I learned about this place from a friend last night. I headed there today and was greeted warmly by Martha. This is a no frills place but you can eat inside. We are vegetarian and both got the veggie quesadilla. WOW it was really delicious. It was nicely grilled and was filled with an array of fresh veggies. It came with pinto beans and Mexican rice, lettuce, sour cream and guacamole. What a treat! We also order chips and salsa, which were also so good. I was absolutely thrilled when we found out that this place was so close to where I live. I was expecting really great food just because hole in the wall places are usually good and it was! We got a little confused because the sign outside was still the old pizza shop, but it's the right place. There's not much inside and still looks like the pizza shop, but it's okay, we ordered to-go. I recommend calling or ordering ahead because we were told 20 minutes for our wait, but we waited for about 45 for our meal. It also seemed like pick up orders had to wait at least 10 more mins when they arrived. We ordered an order of birria tacos and an order of pastor street tacos. Our orders came with green salsa and a hot red pepper sauce. The birria tacos were good, very greasy, and a bit underwhelming in flavor. The meat was pretty good, a bit dry but I thought the broth dip was not flavored very well nor did it add anything to the taco flavor, it tasted like watered down onion beef soup. Also, 30 minutes into our wait, the cashier told us they ran out of pastor meat and if we'd like to switch our meat, so we got chorizo. The chorizo tacos were amazing, hands down it was the best chorizo tacos I've ever had. The chorizo tacos saved our experience, to be honest. We saw a customer come in to pick up their meal and they ran out of garlic bread for the day but only notified the customer when they arrived. Then, it took the cashier another 15 minutes to go get change next door to refund the customer. Seemed like they were running low on everything for the day. I think overall, of you're willing to wait or order way in advance, they make yummy tacos and they're quite affordable, but I was not impressed with the birria tacos. I think they can improve their services and do better with prep and quicker serving, but they're new and I understand that. I will be back and hopefully, they get it down! read more

An amazing spot for Mexican food in Columbus. Food is super authentic and made fresh. All of the staff are super welcoming (and bilingual if you have any Spanish speakers who want to come). Prices are very reasonable, especially given that the portions are massive. They don't skip on the birria at all, sometimes I can barely finish my order! Several months ago I gave this place a five star review- was a little worried that they'd been open a few weeks and hadn't changed their sign from the previous pizza place but the food and service was so amazing it earned all five... since then things have hit a steady decline - and they still haven't bothered to change that sign. Noticed the food wasn't as consistently good, but wrote that off as them being really busy when I've ordered... about a month ago I placed an order that somehow got lost in the jumble and never got it- bad, but things happen, and they were pretty busy again. Another bad sign was that an employee or owner with a massive pickup truck started parking in the closest spot in a manner that obscures the business and and nearly blocks the entrance. Tonight - a Tuesday, not particularly busy - picked up my order - they didn't have one item I ordered and gave a cash refund- cool... got home to find out they also forgot one full dinner/half the order - called and was asked to come back for it... I did - got there and was also told there wasn't any rice so they doubled up on beans - not cool, but with some offer of concession it could be ok - despite having to drive back and not being able to provide the correct price order there wasn't an offer of anything - a discount, a refund, a free dessert - nope, just "here ya go" - got home and found a soggy chimichanga swimming in bean juice - see pic. Ended up going back (third trip) and getting a full refund This place was honestly great when they opened but the lack of commitment to their own business to the point where they won't even change their own sign is finally showing.
