My last visit was the final straw when a very intoxicated man at the bar repeatedly insisted on buying me a drink. I told the bartender I was uncomfortable and did not want him to buy me one, but the bartender went against my wishes. The man then wouldn't leave me alone and berated me, making comments about how "white women like me" are the reason the country is the way it is. He was also extremely racist and disrespectful toward the bartender. A server recognized the situation and offered to get a manager, which I appreciated. They then asked me, loudly and in front of this angry and intoxicated man, if I wanted him kicked out. This put me in a situation that felt unsafe. Putting a customer in that position was incredibly unprofessional, especially when I had already made it clear that I felt uncomfortable. The bartender even said, "It's OK, he's here all the time." The fact that the response was essentially that his behavior was okay because he was a regular made the situation even more disappointing. After years of genuinely loving this place, I'm disappointed to say that between the decline in food quality and how this situation was handled, I won't be returning.

Look, it didn't reinvent the wheel, but it was executed exactly the way I'd make it at home--assuming I could ever actually find a bottle of Chopin in any of our local liquor establishments. (Seriously, who is hoarding it?) We kicked things off with the gourmet bread basket. Do yourself a favor and cough up the extra $5 for the super soft bread and whipped butter; your tastebuds will thank you for not being cheap. For my starter, I opted for the she-crab soup, which presented itself as a spectacularly rich crab bisque. Word on the street is that she-crab Is vastly superior to he-crab. The evening's only tragic misstep was the cheesecake. It, too, was incredibly thick--but in all the wrong ways. While fortunately not overbaked, the texture resembled a very well-flavored, highly gourmet paste.
