I have to have a experience that moves me one way or the other now. This was such an experience. I read your reviews, I trust them, but I make decisions still, based on my gut and own research. I don't see a 1 star review, and think it is all encompassing. I don't see a 5 star, and trust it to mean it can be globalized either. Enter Charlie, with Cleaner Greens Lawn and Landscape. In part, I chose him because I am a military veteran, and I understand and try to support other veteran owned or operated businesses, or service providers. I know it takes finesse, and a special kind of person to navigate us veterans in most cases, as we are wired different following our service to this country. We don't need special handling instructions, but we do move in a different manner because of our experience. Our expectations of our work, and efforts, can be a bit meticulous. We want to go the extra mile, and don't need much recognition that we do. I had a couple of issues and needed my irrigation systems prepped for next spring. That meant I needed someone that could be flexible, since I have two systems, two different homes, leaks, but also ME. Yes, me. I am also a vet, so my wants are also exacting, detailed and I can be too direct or demanding. Maybe even intense. Put two of us together....? You do the math... Well I had a couple of concerns that needed to be addressed after the initial services, and I was impatient in awaiting a reply. Charlie, as the consummate pro, walked me through the mine field back to reassurance he would definitely come through and figure it out. He did, the same day. Promise kept. This is a rarity in business these days. A business that stands up for and by their craft, and work. Was he a bit arrogant? Maybe. But when you have the work behind it, you should be if that work is called into question. So in those other reviews, there may be a bit of truth in the 1 star reviews. I do know part of that is his no nonsense approach to his work, but some of it might have been the customers own expectations. Is Charlie a little rough around the edges.. maybe. Maybe he is all edges. Military service rewires us as people, and designs us for battle, for actual war, combat, not planting flowers, but ending lives. It is something most vets, and family members of veterans understand. Not to excuse us, but maybe to help others understand. As well, his prices are somewhere in the middle, but his actual work is top shelf. He didn't leave trash anywhere, and you can have an actual conversation with him about every detail of the service, and he gives you details in a manner you can understand even if you've never worked on your own system as I have. I hope when you are looking for a sprinkler service, you read the reviews, trust your gut, and then when taking bids for the job, add Cleaner Greens as one of your options. And remember, are you looking for professional worksmanship at a value, or a friend? I was looking for the first, and got just that. Now when spring comes, I am confident, even if there is a snafu, Charlie will be ready to show up, and get things on track. As always. Take care of yourselves. We recently purchased a property that we didn't know had drainage issues, until after a huge rain. Because we had unbelievable amount of rain the following week and I know we would have flooded. His guys show up very early in the morning, work very hard and are very respectful. We have had BIG TIME rain, since he did our work and there is now zero standing water in front of our house. Finally diagnosed on Thursday, after no service for 5 days. At&t provided a replacement of new Gateway system at no charge to me. A 4 hours work by the technician, Taylor. I was cut off from the world with the loss of the system, a grueling experience, relying solely on my apple iPhone. I proceeded to notify Bob's by phone, he was dismissive, only offering an apology, no compensation for me. Therefore, he now receives a negative experience and would never recommend. 4 stars for service, 2 stars for the price of services…read more After reading the prior reviews on Yelp, which were all 5 Stars, I thought this would be a good company to call to repair our sprinkler system. Before the start of the Spring watering season, I wanted to have the heads checked and get a couple of sprinkler heads replaced that were gushing and leaking. I requested service on their website and was promptly called back to set up an appointment. I also noticed that Seniors automatically get a discount, I liked that. I was told my service technician would be Jim. He called around 30 minutes before he was scheduled to ensure I was home. He assessed the situation told me I had two heads that needed replacing and proceeded to finish testing the zones and repair the defective sprinkler heads. He finished up in less than 30 minutes. Jim was very nice but seemed very much in a hurry. This is my fault, but I was really surprised that he didn't come in to give me an estimate. I figured he was still out there checking the system. The bill was under $200 which I felt was excessive due to the time he spent working on the system. Oh well, live and learn, live and learn.

Lazy Work and Horrible Customer Service…read more Last October I had a zone go out and Discount Sprinkler repaired it to get my system up and running. When I turned my system back on in late May I noticed the zones were not working again. At that same time I noticed an exposed low voltage wire in our sloped side bed so we made a point to mention to the tech when he came out on Friday, May 31. He told my wife the wire had become disconnected and to be very careful as the connection is very sensitive. Furthermore he charged us for labor when I called originally the receptionist noted it would be a warranty visit. When I came home that same wire was still exposed and in the process of doing the right thing of burying the wire the zones once again lost power. I called first thing Monday AM and spoke to the receptionist and she said she would let the owner know. I explained to her we just planted $800 worth of plants and were leaving town on Thursday PM so getting our system up and running was vital. After no call back I left a message Tuesday early afternoon. I then called another vendor Wednesday AM after I still did not get a call back. The new vendor was able to come out on Thursday. He ran a new line to be efficient with time, and this time buried it in the grass as he said he avoids beds since they are susceptible to erosion so not the best area to bury wire. After I returned from my trip I was finally able to connect with the owner (Richard) on June 12 (I called him BTW...still no call back from my outreach). He said he would connect with his tech. After no reply I texted Richard on June 17 and he replied the tech was not familiar with the job. To help expedite I texted pics of my house plus the 2 Discount Sprinkler invoices and the 2nd vendor's invoice (so he could see I hired someone to fix their poor workmanship). Still nothing. Fast forward to July 19 after numerous follow ups on my end and Richard finally said the May 31 visit was not in fact a warranty visit and that he would not reimburse for the labor from that visit. Oh, he offered a credit for a tune up in the future, but clearly having Discount Sprinkler come work on my system was not anything I would consider. All that said it is beyond crazy how poor of a service Discount Sprinkler provided. The lazy job back in October is one thing, but to not fix that wrong on the May 31 visit (if a wire is so sensitive why on earth leave it exposed in a bed where there is obvious foot traffic?), and still charge me is absurd. In the end I would have been content if he credited back the $148 in labor for the May 31 visit to help offset the 2nd vendor's labor, but alas he did not. Perhaps Richard will one day care about customer service and doing the right thing when issues arise. Until then I would think twice before using Discount Sprinkler.
