My friend Irene who is furnishing her home told me about Martinez Furniture Direct. I met another friend in Martinez for and made our way to an obscure road off Marina Way and drove up the hill until we saw the building. I was supposed to make an appointment for a salesman to show us, but I called while there and Art saw us, rose and invited us inside. I went for a Mattress to use on a platform bed. I got that and 4 dining chairs. My house had to have reconstruction due to a fire. While I am unable to do a product review, I can tell you that Art was good at listening. He informed us of the different choices we had and shopping took me about 40 minutes from start to finish. My husband had a question, so I called and asked for Art and Peter answered my question for me. Easy people to work with. When I pick up my products and have lived with them a "moment", I'll do another review. The prices are fair. The products I bought were well made. I suggest an appointment. read more

Do not do business with these people. Advertise one price , you have to have an appt and when you get there unless you provide proof of the advertised price they will not honor it . I called Peter today as it was again advertised ( on Facebook) for $75 vs the $115 I paid and was treated in the most sarcastic and condescending way . Unless you want to be treated like this do not do business here . Had to give a 1 star to be able to review but they don't deserve eve 1 star!!! read more

This was hands down the worst experience I've ever had with a furniture store. We were originally told that our couch would be delivered in two weeks. Then they called and said it would be another two weeks. Next, they promised a delivery on August 23rd, but on the 23rd, we were told it would be on the 24th instead. Finally, on the 24th, they called again and said some nonsense about the truck not making it to the warehouse, so the delivery was delayed yet again, and they had no idea when it would actually arrive. A man named William called to tell us that, since they couldn't deliver the couch on the agreed date, they would offer a reimbursement. I asked him to refund it to the original payment method, but he said they could only offer store credit. I agreed and asked for the amount. William told me to call Dale or Peter on Monday to find out. Since I didn't have Peter's number, I called Dale, who claimed that William had never offered a store credit and that he knew this because he was "right next to William" when the call was made. If he was right next to him, why couldn't he have simply told William that he was mistaken at that moment? Dale continued to insist that I misunderstood, implying I was hearing things, even though my partner was also on the call and clearly heard what William said. Later that day, my partner called Dale to ask the same question. Now Dale admits that William did offer store credit but says he shouldn't have. Still no apology or accountability for basically accusing us of lying. After all this back and forth, they finally promised a delivery on August 28th. The couch was delivered, and they took our old one away with them. Then on August 29th, Peter (the owner) calls me, confused, asking why we sent back a couch with the delivery of our new one. I explained that we had only received the new couch on the 28th and had paid for them to take the old one. He claimed there was a mix-up and that it was supposed to be an "exchange of an Ashley couch for an Ashley couch," which made no sense. I had to explain the situation all over again, and he said he would speak to Dale to clear things up. The complete lack of communication between their own staff was mind-boggling. Since I had Peter on the phone, I also brought up the mess that happened with Dale and William regarding the store credit. Peter promised to get to the bottom of it and honor what William had said. He asked me to give him time to check with William. Thinking I would finally get some clarity, I called William again, hoping for a simple confirmation. Instead, William was rude, unprofessional, and refused to admit what he had clearly said just days earlier. He kept interrupting and talking over me, avoiding any accountability. I called Peter twice to report this behavior and left a voicemail, but got no response. Bottom line: This furniture store has been an absolute nightmare to deal with, full of delays, miscommunications, and a complete lack of professionalism. Save yourself the headache and go somewhere else, even if it costs a bit more. I highly do NOT recommend this place! read more

I bought the nicest, softest, best couch from Martinez Furniture direct.... I have been a couch potato for 5 months since acquiring it... but the best part is I paid well below what I should've. The staff was super friendly and accommodating and not pushy. My only grievance is i recommend my friend to go there and she ended up getting the exact same couch for $300 less :( overall though im very satisfied with my purchase and experience. read more

He curtly asks, do you have an appointment!? I don't,but I can see that he has about 12 non descript sofas within plain view, so I assure him that this won't take long. He lets me in, but before I can even take 3 steps, he wants to know if I am ready to buy today...as if I'm a hassle. Theres 2 people inside being helped. I'm in no one's way. Then the prices are unmarked. I've been shopping for couches for 6 mths. I know their price points at this point. He clearly starts inflating prices because I appear to be an uneducated consumer from Oakland. Rude, suspect and a waste of time. Looks like items that fell off a truck. In addition, Bill showed me how to carefully open the box once I was ready at home with my bed frame and he advised me how to care for and maintain the mattress to ensure I do not void the 10 year warranty. The price was right at about 40% of what I would have paid elsewhere, so I bought it on the spot that same day. Loved shipping n buying at this store. Sales man was awesome and the price was right. But sadly on delivery a helper used a razor blade n cut way to deep into wrapping on our new chair. Then to hide it he tried to glue it shut. Unfortunately I didn't notice until going thru my security camera recently to delete unneeded footage -there it was. I went n looked closer at my chair. Sure enough, it had been cut by a sharp instrument. I am very unhappy about this but nothing I can do as I signed off n didnt discover until now.
