The house-made giardiniera is great. P.S. I am going to make an exception to my policy and comment on another review (two stars): "Beef is weak barely put any beef on it compared to others. There's a reason Martino's has been around for decades. We were greeted as soon as we walked in by a very kind young man, & never felt rushed while we perused the menu. The dining room was clean & full of diners on a Saturday afternoon. I decided on the jumbo Chicago style dog & chili cheese fries. Comfort food at its finest! Martino's Italian Beef perfectly fits into the Milwaukee working-class diet. Their Italian beef is fantastic, especially when ordered "wet." The sausages and hotdogs are also good, with the Chicago-style hotdogs being a standout. It's counter service so expect a line. Sometimes seating can be hard to come by for lunch construction crowd. They come wrapped up with fries, which can be a bit annoying if you're trying to eat on the go. The new location is great and beautiful. I've heard a lot of things about this place so I decided to try it out. As soon as you walk in the door great customer service very friendly and very helpful, people here are full of energy. The reason why I didn't give it five stars was because I tried the Italian beef and it was very lackluster. I've had better from other places and this one doesn't even crack the top five. I think some places specialize in certain things and they specialize in hot dogs and maybe other things but the Italian beef is not one of them. Other than that the place is fabulous very clean, clean bathrooms, great customer service, and just an amazing good home vibe. read more

I absolutely love this place. They have the most welcoming staff and the best food. The classic Chicago dog is done well here. But I love the polish sausage with mustard and fried onions. That one doesn't come with fries like many of the hot dogs, but it's worth it to order some. I have yet to try their soup but if it's as good as the desserts, it is probably delicious. read more

I love hot dogs, brats all of it. I got the Kraut dog with brown, not yellow mustard and the Chicago style. So so darn good!! What else was nice is no one stuck an I pad or whatever to ask for a tip. Seeing that I gave more than you would of expected - take note all you restaurants. I travel to Milwaukee about 2 - 3 times a year and guess where I'm going to. nicest thing about the mid-north is the abundance of hot dog stands and sandwich shacks, they start to get scarce approaching the Manson - Nixon line and eventually there just aren't any... so here I am looking for sustenance and finding Martino's just a few minutes up the road; pull up on a too bright sign in front of a too yellow roof and I know everything is gonna be alright :-) ask for a jumbo Chicago style and a beef sammich plus hot peppers and cheese and a piece of cake then find a place to sit... it takes a bit longer than I expected but I've been away for a while so maybe it's always been that?? there's online orders getting out ahead of me too, so maybe 10 or twelve minutes which isn't so much except I might be late for work but that's okay because, well, you know... a chicago dog in all it's fabled glory . oh the goodness of beef! Italian Beef is very flavorful. The juice soaks in the bun and sets it off and of course I had to get the mozzarella cheese on the beef. The cheese fries are normal fair, nacho style cheese on straight cut fries, but I can for the Italian beef and will for sure come back for another sandwich in the near future. read more

Found this gem near the airport whenever we arrived to Milwaukee- our first time to Milwaukee and this was a great way to start our visit! Thank you Yelp for helping us find this place. We tried the beef sandwich and Chicago dog along with the eggplant fries and cheese sticks. Love me a good Chicago dog and am not from a place where you can really get one so this was a win- The combination of flavors is perfect. We got the jumbo size which was a good one to split. The Italian beef sandwich was great with the pepper relish stuff. The eggplant fries were a wonderful surprise as I love eggplant but had never had something like that before. We ended up getting two orders! The cheese sticks are unique in that they look like an egg roll. Our baby ate 1.5 cheese sticks. She was a big fan! Definitely recommend this hole in the wall! If you think Martino's is just another dawg stand, think again! Their Chicago-style hot dog stands up with the best that the Windy City has to offer. And they serve up a mean Italian Beef, as well. This is the kind of Chicago food that people in Chicago don't even get to experience too often. It's that good. The standards are extremely high. The Chicago Dog at Glorioso's is one of the best I've had anywhere, and the fries were excellent as well - which is hard to do because I'm a scathing judge of french fries, and what most people think is great I usually think is mediocre at best. They were somewhat similar to McDonald's fries, in a good way though. But the hot dog has everything going for it, and is perfect. No wonder they are famous for it. I'm also famous for a hot dog. But a different kind. The service amazingly matches the product. The girl that served me was really enthusiastic about their products, and you can tell she genuinely loves them. She has the same problem as I do (no, not being a sex addict, the other problem), which is not being able to eat large portions of things (food wise anyway). We had a real chemistry and she was a real sweetheart. The other employees - including the woman who gave me the dog and the kids that were cleaning the lobby - were all really friendly to me as well. Definitely the nicest service I received in Milwaukee by a distance. Not sure what sort of distance. I mean, I can't be precise about it. I'm not Roy Keane on S1TV or something. The girl I liked even ran out and gave me my keys - which I left in the bathroom. No I didn't do it on purpose to get her to come to my car. Minds out of gutters please! This place is fantastic for either a Chicago Dog or Italian Beef. They're authentic to the Windy City cuisine and being top-notch flavor. Their fries are also a standout. Where do I start I stopped there about 2 days ago and got food I was chatting with who I think was the owner I also said I'm big on reviews so fair warning right. Food was 5 stars, but the Pepsi machine was dispensing sparkling water, but at the end of the day it was a pretty great experience. Had the footlong Chicago dog with everything and an eggplant fry. The latter was wonderfully crispy and served with a nice dish of marinara sauce. Much better than potato fries! OTOH their French fries are to die for, nice and thin, slight crisp on the outside and soft inside. Then there is the Dog: the most important aspect, the bun, they nailed with a nice soft fluffy bun. The dog sausage was tasty, the condiments well balanced. I did break a bit of a sweat from the peppers, but it was nice. My wife commented how clean the place was - they had a guy wiping down your table as soon as you stood up. Even the bathroom was clean. The people behind the counter were very friendly and made us feel welcome. I'll be back the next time I fly in or out of MKE (they are just a stones throw from the airport). They have one of the best Chicago dogs, and their chicken noodle soup is really good, too. If you go during lunch or dinner- you might want to order ahead. It gets pretty busy. The place is clean, the prices reasonable, the food is high in the satisfying fat and bad cholesterol and very low in fiber. However wasn't a fan of the sliced cheese on the ft long cheesy and bacon dog. I would of liked to see the liquid cheese not just sliced cheese thrown on it. The food and desserts are fantastic but wow has this place become overpriced. It is ridiculous! A simple sloppy joe is $6.89 and a BLT $7.29!!! Another local establishment has both for under $3.00 with similar size and quality. That's how Martino's used to price things. A cup.of soupis $5.59 and they even had the nerve to cbarge me 25 cents for a skinny pickle spear to go with my sloppy joe. Their hours are not customer friendly and often they close early. We drive across town to eat here. The food is really great and the employees are wonderful. When I was working (commuting to ORD as a flight attendant) I would pass Martino's and they were never open because of my commuting hours. One day after I retired my son and I were in the area so we tried it. We were totally hooked after that. I'm a particular fan of Chili Cheese Dogs with onions! No way can I duplicate this deliciousness at home. My son loves the Jumbo Bacon Dog. The fries are great too. Each dog comes with fries included. I really don't know why this place is popular. If you are from Chicago, do NOT get the Italian beef. First of all, it comes with cheese, and the meat is anemic-looking and chewy and of poor quality. The bread is just a sandwich roll, not Italian, and it cost $10- something for just the plain sandwich. The people working there were nice enough, it was fast, and maybe they have good hotdogs- I didn't try them. But the fact that people talk about the Italian beef like it's good is so odd. Being from Chicago I've been looking for places everywhere that has had Vienna Beef or Red Hots. Martinos hotdogs are just divine. They have a couple different varieties of hotdogs and have various other items as well, just to name a few: mozzarella sticks, polish sausage and chicken parmesan sandwiches. Now being from Chicago I'm use hotdogs especially Chicago style dogs a bit cheaper but since all their hotdogs include fries I'd say it's a reasonable day. Customer service is awesome, the staff here is always smiling and honestly looks like they love to help you with your order. I've had their Chilli Cheese dog, I think something called the Southern dog which has coleslaw on it, the polish sausage and my favorite no matter where I go the Chicago Style dog. I've also had their mozzarella sticks once which I thought was ok. I'm more of a battered mozzarella sticks fan over breaded and wonton wrapped. The mozzarella sticks here are fried in wonton wrappers, not nothing bad against that, it's still not bad at all and if you like it with wonton wrappers definitely try it out.
