The ambiance was just what you would picture in an old authentic Mexican restaurant, random art work, lots of booths. Friendly service. This is New Mexican Style food not Mexican so just realize that, different flavor and style. Still good! The crispy shell taco appeared store bought that was a little disappointing, the ground beef was a little over cooked. The red chili was good but a touch salty, salsa and chips were good and the coke was some of the best carbonated soda ever lol

A local favorite that I remember from many years ago. Still top-notch authentic Mexican food. Beer and wine only in terms of the bar. Friendly service. No complaints and highly recommend for a solid meal.

So incredibly yummy. hit the spot just right and if we werent passing through this would be a place i would frequent. Good prices, good food, good service, they have it all. We had a lovely chat with our waiter about our rv trip and he was a very nice gentleman who made sure we were taken care of even with a busy restaurant. Lovely establishment

Great chorizo plate!! Service was friendly and prompt. Prices were average. Ambiance was old school mom and pop diner.

During the eclipse, we met someone who had gotten a recommendation from a Roswell local that Martin's Capitol Cafe was the "best New Mexican food in town". The décor felt like a bit of a throwback and kind of cool at the same time. The menu had too many selections but but hubby ordered the chile relleno plate al caballo and I had the stuffed sopapilla. There was sooooo much food and the prices were extremely reasonable. The food was fresh and delicious, very different from the options readily available in the SF East Bay area.. Our server was very friendly, had a great sense of humour and made us feel welcome. There were, however, some diners that were, uhm, a little odd ... like outer space alien odd We could not finish our plates, so our leftovers were packed up and they included extra order chips to go with. Note: the booth we sat in was was not terribly comfortable. The covers were cracked and the springs have given up I suspect they are all that way. You might be better off sitting in the middle of the dining room with the hard, straight-backed chairs. I would definitely stop here again on my way through to infinity - and beyond!

The biggest stand out from this visit is the service. The staff is prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable. The restaurant was clean and quiet (I was there around 3pm) but the staff was just as attentive as they'd have been during a busy rush. I felt very welcome. I ordered the green chile chicken enchiladas. They were very good, not exactly how I make them but very good. There was a bit of chew to the corn tortillas and the waitress recommended getting the white corn instead of yellow next time. The complimentary chips and salsa were exceptional. I love love loved that salsa. Had to take it with me. lol Over all Martin's is an excellent place to eat and I'd definitely go there again.

The waitress told me this was "small"! Ohhh so good and cheesy chimichanga! Just passing through, but this place has amazing food!

In town with my nephew to see the UFO museum, Martins was the perfect place to end our short trip to Roswell. Slightly off the beaten path, it blends Into the building and stands out via the restaurant sign. Upon entering, we sat at a booth and were provided with chips and salsa. My nephew ordered a cup of the green chili stew along with a chicken entree. I opted for the green chili stuffed sopapilla. The green chili stew was hands down the best my nephews ever had. He essentially licked the bowl clean! We ordered two bowls extra to take home. The rest of our food was good, but the green chili stew won the trophy! Definitely check this place out. Good food, friendly staff, great service!

This cafe was recommended by two Roswell residents. It has a historic story to it also. Go on the UFO Tour and you will hear all about it. It was excellent! I had the Taco Salad with Sirloin. My husband had the Fried Chimichanga Plate. The service was excellent, food hot, fast and a lot. I highly recommend this restaurant when in Roswell!

The red sauce that came with my shredded meat was too spicy so overpowering the flavor of the meat. The refried beans was dry.. sorry

I had the Picadillo and Eggs and this was great - well spiced ground beef with a side of eggs, this arrived with potatoes and tortillas. It was a nice protein-forward meal and a more unique breakfast option, which I appreciated. The space is no-frills and a bit rustic, but they offer good food at very reasonable prices.

HAIR IN OUR FOOD As a Yelp Elite Member, I take my reviews…read moreseriously and always aim to be fair. I don't like giving bad reviews, but this experience left me disgusted and disappointed. The food was good, and everyone in our group enjoyed their meals. We even packed up leftovers to take home. But just as we were finishing, my grandson's mother noticed a thick, coarse hair on his plate. Finding a hair in food is always stomach-turning, but discovering it after I had already eaten made it worse. It made me wonder: What else did I miss? I showed the hair to our server, who immediately removed the plate--and to be fair, I could tell the hair wasn't from her. The issue was how management handled it: a 10% discount and zero real concern. No apology from a manager, no real effort to make it right--just a small discount and moving on. That response left a bad taste in my mouth. Had it not been for the hair, I would have rated this place 4 stars. The restaurant was clean, the atmosphere was casual, and the food was enjoyable. But the way this was handled knocked my rating down to 2 stars. We were so put off that, even though our leftovers were packed and ready to go, we left them behind. I debated between 1 and 2 stars but settled on 2 because the food itself was good. That said, this experience made it impossible to recommend this place.

The interior is surprisingly large with a spacious dining room to the right, more seating near the bar, and even an outdoor space that had live music when we went. Spicy Beef Nachos Appetizer: Chips topped with queso, green onions, jalapeños, black olives, tomatoes, guacamole, and sour cream. My friend got this and I had a couple bites. Chips were not soggy and it was large enough to cover as his dinner. Green Chile Burger: Topped with monterey jack cheese and roasted chopped Chaves County-grown hot green chile. Served on a jalapeño bun with a side of our hot green chile sauce. Their signature burger and it tasted good. I don't need too much food but the amount of fries I got was too little even for me. Got two Johnny Walker Blacks with a splash of coke and they came well mixed and quickly. We did end up getting rained in and hilariously went back for a second dinner to wait out the rain. Black corn taquitos were OK, I would not get the fried shrimp basked again, the shrimp was too small and there was too much breading.

The chips were house made and had spices on it with plenty of salt. The guacamole was house made and fresh and a little runny and lacked flavor but combine it with the salsa, it was out of this world. The horchata, which they just call it a rice drink, is made fresh daily and absolutely delicious. My husband had the carne asada plate and I had the carne asada chimichanga. The portions were huge and a great price. The carne asada itself was tender with great flavor. Rice and beans were light but didn't lack quality. The red sauce I had on my chimichanga was just the right amount of red sauce. The reason I took a star is because I either received the wrong plate or they call it the wrong thing on the menu. Chimichanga is basically a burrito deep fried but what I received was a burrito smothered in red sauce, not fried at all. That should have been listed as smothered burrito and I double checked the menu and they did not have a separate smothered burrito on there. The waitress was friendly but very awkward. When we thanked her for items she brought, she just laughed as if she was uncomfortable with anyone being nice to her or thanking her.
