I wonder why my review disappeared for Martins. Ok here we go again. This franchise of stores including this one is a great market. The people that work here are friendly, courteous, and willing to assist you. The prices are very low. I live in North Carolina and come to South Bend to visit my son . The prices here are low compared to the super markets in NC. I save an average of $45.00 purchasing the same things. The more I spend the more I save. I find most everything I purchase except for wild caught Salmon. I do like these markets . They do have them throughout the area. Most of them sell alcohol. One stop shopping. read more

I got a sandwich at the deli where they had about 10 turkey sandwiches already made. One of them had a giant hole in the top bun. Of course, the worker grabbed that one. I figured, "No way he's actually going to give me the side with the hole." But then he cut the sandwich in half, put the normal side away, and toasted the half with the huge hole in it. Out of 20 different halves he could've picked from, he gave me the one that was basically missing the top bun. The hole was so big I couldn't even hold the sandwich without my fingers going straight into the filling. I honestly can't believe he gave me that piece. It's comical he gave me that piece. I hope this is the right Martin's it's supposed to be the Martin's on the River so two things happened to me last Saturday which was June 10, 2023. I was trying to pull into a parking spot and the two ladies in the parking spot one of them was the supervisor at that location and I'm not sure who the other woman was. I tried to pull in the parking spot and look at their cart was in the way I pulled in, but I was not comfortable so I pulled back out. I roll down my window and I said it be nice if you guys would just move over a little bit so people can park their car. Well, she told me to go fuck myself I thought to myself you've got to be kidding me so I knew they were not going to believe me so I took The managers picture so when I was going to complain about her to the corporation of Martin's super markets, I had proof that it was really her as I was walking into the door. She said to me is that her is that the lady I said yeah it's me. What about it she said go fuck yourself and fuck you wow I said you gotta be kidding me you're the manager of Martin's in. You're talking to your customers like that. Long story short I got a hold of the corporation the guy called me back. I sent him the picture of her. I even verified that it was her. I know nothing is going to be done. I'm not sure if I had a corporation that I would allow my managers to talk to customers like that when you are a manager or a supervisor you are representing that Martin's ewe should not be talking to anyone like that, so three days later on a Tuesday I went in there and the guy behind the counter. His name is Adam. I did some shopping and I always buy my lottery there after I was doing my shopping it was about 10 after five. I know the lottery shuts down at seven by the time I got up to the counter he put a sign in the window that said lottery is closed. I was SMH. I thought what the heck is going on so I asked the lady that was standing behind me. She was working at the cashier. I said there's a lot of office shut down as soon as I said that the security officer came around the other side and I said they shut down. The lottery at 5:15 in the afternoon just saying the girl said just stand there he'll see you and he'll come out well. Adam came out from behind. I don't know where he was at. He said I cannot take any lotto and I cannot do any lotto on the machine? All I can do is sell the lotto again.SMH I'm not sure what was going on so I asked him if I could get a cash five easy match he said I just told you I get off at 5:30. I have to close out my register so the other person can come on. I said it's 10 after five he said yeah but I get off at 5:30. OK so I just called Martin's super market on South Bend Avenue and ask them do you shut down The lottery when you exchange hands, she said no we do not. I've never heard of that so I think because of the incident before and they know that I've spent a lot of money on lottery that they just shut it down on purpose so attention, attention attention, Martin's super markets. You will no longer receive my business. This is total bullshit. I don't ask. I do NOT like this Martin's! It's set up more like a liquor store then a grocery store. Seriously, there are alcohol displays everywhere! I avoid shopping here at all costs. Data mining would absolutely benefit this store and its layout. However, the staff are very kind and knowledgeable and the shelves appear to be stocked, with what they offer. read more

I try not to step foot in Martin's anymore. They are very controlling and pushy. Most of the employees including manager are rude and not very considerate. It makes me sad because I try to like them, but with their attitudes I just can't. read more

While the employees at this location are super the selection of products pretty much such. They used to carry many of the same items as other local Martins but slowly everything has changed to lower level products. In my circle we call this store the redheaded step child store. It doesn't even have a Starbucks like many others they have a Caribou Coffee which just isn't good. If you need an essential this is an ok store if you are wanting a nice selection of yummy stuff (stir fry, oh the pre-made salad selection just to name a couple). But the staff is super! read more

I needed a shallot. They had about 6 wilty, runt-of-the-litter shallots in a basket near the onions. I drove the to Martin's near Notre Dame for my shallot, though I live about 8 blocks from the Ironwood Martin's. (-1 star) Meat Counter only has Choice, no Prime. (-1 star) This store can often be depressing, not unlike much of the River Park neighborhood in which it resides: like the time I walked out of there and was accosted by this 50 year-old ginger fat bitch in a black body stocking who was just sitting on the bench outside doing whippits and yelling angry nonsense at the patrons entering and exiting the store. Next to her was a plastic Martin's bag containing nothing but 4 cans of Reddi-whip. I called the Mishawaka PD when she went back into the store for another round. They have groceries and shit like that; if you live nearby, pay them a visit. Get a box of cereal or something. read more

I went to this store, been going there for 40 plus years. I don't have any of the same cashiers. No one asked if I needed help out.ask if I found everything. Matter of fact they don't even speak. They all just act like they didn't want to be there. No one ask to help me out. And slow so very slow. I understand their all kids, but I have heard this for 40 plus. Guess it's time to move on :(. For the third or fourth time this year the freezers in the frozen food section were not working and I couldn't buy TV dinners, etc from them. Given that I only go here every two or three weeks, this must be a bigger problem than I have seen. I also find it sneaky that they don't put a note on the entrances saying this is a problem. I had to get other groceries and then find out as I was near the "end" that this was an issue. If I had known when I arrived that this was an issue I would have done all my shopping elsewhere. This location is pretty run down but the onoging freezer issues here make shopping here a joke. read more

I have shopped at The Ironwood Martin's for many years....over 20+ years, as far as I can tell. Since the the Martin's family sold the stores, the Ironwood store has gone downhill, rapidly! The liquor selection saves this store! It is always fully stocked! The grocery shelves look like a tornado went through and emptied the shelves. Talk to the employees, and they say it is the Coronavirus. The store on 23 does not look as barren. The Ironwood store is truly sad! I am not sure if it is being put on the back burner by the company, but when I shop at Kroger...the shelves look nothing like the Martin's shelves. They have a few areas where groceries are not as plentiful; however, they are not barren. I have increased my shopping trips at Kroger for that reason. With Ironwood being closed at Rockne and Corby....Martin's needs to concentrate on the Ironwood store! They are always busy when I am in the store! read more
