I am finally done with Martin's. Took my 9 items to the deli cashier, I was 4th in line out of 8. Cashier was obviously stressed. Rang up my items and ask for the senior discount. She said she entered it, but I got nothing. I didn't buy any sale items or alcohol. She closed out my order and told me to go to the front desk. Went to the front desk and I was 5th in line out of 7. I waited & waited & waited. 3 people just gave up and left. After waiting 15 min I gave up too. I spent almost 30 min just being in line for 9 items. Ever since Spartan took over, customer service had really gone down hill. Look at the employees. Used to see people that have been there 20+ years. Now there's new faces every week. Bakery isn't nearly as good as it used to be. Had a cake so bad I just took it back. Deli items that are made in house are just awful. Chicken salad was so bad I threw it away. Same with cole slaw. And of course the obvious, prices are just unnecessarily high. When your sale prices are higher than other stores regular prices, there's something wrong. And when they say you're paying for better customer service, it's just nonexistent. I will spend my money elsewhere. read more

This was our first time visiting Martin's Super Market and it had everything we needed! We normally wouldn't shop here but we had to get a few things before a camping trip. They own the gas station I next door and have ample parking at both spots. The store layout was fine and everything was clean and neatly organized. We noticed that the prices were fairly higher than they would be at a big box store. They made up for it thought with their cheerful employees and everyone following covid-19 safety precautions. One big thing that was a bummer was that none of their beer was refrigerated. Most stores have at least a few options cooled but every single type was just on the shelf. Oh well, we threw them in some ice in our cooler to get the job done. The express lines are always appreciated for people having 15 items or less and they were quick checking people out so the line moved fast. Overall, if we went camping near this area again we would stop by for sure! read more

Fourth time in here and everyone is very helpful. Shopping here is difficult without baskets when not doing a regular shopping. What a pain and it was a management decision not to have them because they think you will buy more using full size cart. Get it together Martins and let's help everyone out. read more

The staff is helpful but the store is in an undesirable neighborhood. They have cops at the store to discourage the riff raff. Not the most modern Martins but they have a decent selection of food items. I even had a friendly discussion with one of the on duty cops. It's nice to see a store concerned about their customers safety. read more

I must tell you I came in from Southern California and they said you have to try the pork tenderloin sandwich at the Side Door Deli at the Martin's Super Market on Mayflower Road. Well! I was glad to do that because I grew up on Mayflower Road so this was truly coming home to me and driving by Howie's as I remembered it was really odd to see it still standing. The first time I went in they didn't have any in the store but they were sampling some of the most amazing sandwiches out of this great bread from Chicago, make sure you try one. Now, MIA!! The manager of this Deli Department!! She's the real hero of this store. She heard I was in town a west sider looking to get a tenderloin and didn't get one. She tracked me down and said if you want a tenderloin I will get you a tenderloin from another store. AND SHE DID!!! I did enjoy that tenderloin ever so much! Maybe because it was delivered with a beaming smile from Mia's wonderful team who takes pride in everything they do! You can tell it's a well run department everyone is eager to serve, meets you with a smile and packs your order like a 5 star restaurant at the Hollywood Bowl. What a treat South Bend! I went to get gasoline at the station, upon entering my Credit Card it advised I had a $125 limit. I was getting gas and also a $100 gas card for my son. I filled up and reached $72, asked for a receipt and no paper. I went inside and asked for and received a receipt. Clerk apologized then stated 'we don't know when we are out until someone tells us". I nodded and then asked about the dollar limit on my card. The clerk acknowledged the limit but didn't know if it was local management, the Credit Card company or Spartan, then decided it was Spartan and I should call them with questions. I asked for the phone number that would get me the correct department/person and she said she didn't know but I could 'google it'. I said, you don't know why there is a limit, who sets the limit or the phone number but you say to call Spartan and advise me to do the work to get the number? I walked out and went to Customer Service at the store. That was about as bad. There was a 3 person line and 2 clerks but only 1 lane open. I waited 2-3 minutes until the 1st person was completed and then the clerk closed out and left, by now there were 5 more people in line and we were blocking the aisle. The person ahead of me then started buying lotto tickets. "I want 4 of # 21, 6 of #14, this went on for another 5-8 minutes as the customer was perusing the tickets before deciding. Again I left as I had now wasted over 40 minutes of my day buying gasoline and trying to get very simple questions answered. I went to another station and bought my gas card, talked to Discover (my CC company) who stated that the limit was NOT their doing and if Spartan was limiting, based on dollars, it was a violation of their service contract with Spartan and they would would follow up. I have been a Martin's customer for almost 50 years and this was by far the worst experience I have ever had. BTW: When I got home and looked on the receipt, there was a phone number, the staff didn't bother to try and help! read more

First of all the employees are very friendly and helpful. The store is clean and well stocked. I am an organic fan and their selection is fantastic. The meats are always fresh. The veggies and fruits are always full and fresh. I always get a good price there. I loved the set up of the new store. The gas station is a plus. read more

First, the new Martin's is a huge improvement over the old one. My wife and I like the Side door Deli and it's seating area for quick meals. The new store is clean, neat, and modern. Normally, I would give this place 5 stars....but I can't. Despite being really new and modern I cannot figure out for the life of me why when they designed this place they couldn't figure out where to put the shopping carts. You come in through the front door....then have to go outside to get a cart. Why?? It's like some strange psychological experiment. read more

Brand new location. There is a nice large produce area and a seemingly smaller meat selection than some of the other Martin's locations. The best part of would be the new smokehouse bbq that is in the deli area. Also has a Starbucks and a Notre Dame credit union inside. read more

The attitudes of the cashiers need to change. I am not really thrilled having someone make comments about my groceries while they are ringing them up. if your unhappy with me purchasing carrots, spinach and water, then perhaps you should find a different job. read more

Wondrful staff, great prices, great location by a CVS. Not a big or impressive meat department but I would definitely shop there again.

I Like the new Martins itself but am concerned how people drive out the back road with houses with young kids and don't slow down...I have lived here for 65 years and am afraid one of the kids will be hit...I wish they would close off the rear entrance...as for the store it is awesome, very friendly and very well stocked. read more
