Flavors are authentic and tastes pretty standard to what you expect for those dishes. The most notable callout is that the vegan fried chicken is VERY GOOD. That is a must try. Each and every bite, you could really taste all the flavor, and these simple dishes packed a flavor-filled wallop. Our server was Kim and she was excellent. This place is vegetarian and they do accommodate for gluten-free. We ordered the Baingan Bharta-Fire-roasted eggplant, which was amazing, Tika Masala with paneer, gluten-free, garlic, naan, which I'm typically not a fan of gluten-free, but it was tasty, Raita, Basmati rice, and Mango Chutney. Everything was delicious. I didn't think we ordered enough, but it turned out to be a lot of food. We ended up taking some home. It's a small little venue, but they have an upstairs as well and they were able to accommodate everyone, though I do suggest Reservations just in case. I always love coming to Maruti for Indian food. The ambiance is cute and it's cozy inside. Their chai, curries, naan are all high quality and delicious. We tried their new app Pani Puri. I loved Pani Puri growing up in India. I have to say their Pani Puri was not authentic. It usually has black chana or mung beans, sev and two sauces (tamarind and mint chilli chutneys). Greeted by the owner, who's just a unique and hospitable soul--and mixed a mean drink! Food is wonderful, and all plant- or-Indian dairy-based from what I could see, and it's just so well done. The Tikka is rich, spiced and luxurious. The onion fritters are the best I've ever had, and so well fried. Not greasy and I could see them traveling good. It's nice to try a good vegetarian Indian restaurant and Maruti did not disappoint! The way they prepared and presented the dishes were absolutely beautiful while flavorful at the same time The bhel puri was fresh and crispy The tikka masala itself was delicious, savory and creamy and I can see why people would buy their bottles. The paneer however felt like it wasn't as cooked and got added at the very end so it didn't marinate or absorb as much flavor and spice as we were expecting. Still good overall! We ordered it at medium spice which wasn't much heat at all so would suggest at least that if not more. The vegetable biryani is loaded, and a little spicer than the tikka masala by default. The texture is more of a pulao but good quantity and raita that came with was refreshing and cooled the spice. Very well made and mixed The vegan garlic naan didn't taste any different and is pretty standard but the Vegan spicy cheesy naan is very filling and pleasing - could definitely eat by itself and it complemented the tikka masala for sure! I expected the least and was still disappointed in the quality of the food. I ordered the bhel puri and the chana bhatura for takeout. I picked up the takeout almost immediately after it was ready. The bhel puri was entirely soggy with minimal additions, the chana bhatura was extremely mild and watery, and the bhatura was fried for far too long and therefore not fluffy at all. Not too much tomato or cream. It had a nice velvet texture that balanced the lightly fried Paneer (I'm not fan of the rubber style). Baingan Bharta was yummy and still had a bit of texture- not just a creamy puree. We requested it spicy, and the chef abided well. Yea for being organic, I'm curious of the extent of use. First time ordering food from here, after reading the reviews I was excited to try this restaurant. I ordered my favorite dishes but it was severely underwhelming & disappointing. I used a delivery service & everything arrived cold, the food wasn't packaged well & didn't taste that great reheated. The vegetarian/vegan tax is REALLY high at this place for such small portions. To be honest this whole order was unappealing & ended up being a waste of money. The salad had wilted + slimy pieces of lettuce & not so fresh/brown avocado pieces. The slice of cheesecake was so skinny and from a local company (Rawdacious) that usually sells the same slice for $7 at the grocery stores. The naan was so small, flaky, & thin, it was a cracker like texture & had no garlic or butter taste. The Baingan Bharta & Palak Paneer were both flavorless & watery. You wouldn't expect for items that were $17 & $18 each that they would share one small container of rice between the two plates, it felt like huge a rip off! Maruti has earned a following including accolades from a number of local publications. My overall experience was more like 3.5 stars, so I guess I'm rounding down to "A-ok." The Palak Paneer was ample and tasted fresh. What it lacked was that creaminess I'm accustomed to, and there was no burst of flavor. Sure, you can add dashes of spice, but it's not the same. There was also a lot of water in the dish. That Tikka Masala at a nearby table looked scrumptious though. The Apple and Avocado salad was a nice surprise, good portion too. The cut-in-half samosa with garbanzo bean bean appetizer was a semi-letdown. Good flavor, but so small for the high price. We finished the meal with the first choice on the dessert menu, Ras Malai. It's dumpling based, but the dish wasn't heavy. Still, I'd opt for my favorite Gulab Jamun next time. Our server (female, Indian) was delightful. Small vegan Indian restaurant. The food is delicious albeit vegan. Once of the unique dishes served as an appetizer was the Bhel Purri - a Bombay (Mumbai) street fair that's extremely popular with the locals. We tried Indian beer and also an Indian wine - do yourself a favor, skip Indian wine :-D (I tried Indian wine at another restaurant too so take my word for it) The place is small so reservations are recommended. We've been thinking of trying it out again but this time with another couple so we can share a larger number of their dishes.
