This is my local go-to restaurant for dinner. I've tried numerous items on the menu and loved them all! My favorite items are the chili cheese naan, chicken 65, chicken briyani, mango tikka masala, and the vindaloo. I like things really spicy so I go above medium spice level, but they also can tame the spice down if you prefer. If you've got a sweet tooth like me, get the masala chai, and the gulab for dessert! read more

This was my first time trying Indian food (besides samosas and naan bread) and I'm upset that it's taken me this long!! Parking here is limited, but they do have a parking lot. Upon arrival I wasn't too sure if they were even open, as there's not really an open/close sign. It was pretty empty when we arrived so we were seated quickly and were given plenty of time to look over the menu. Since it was my first time, I did ask for recommendations. I was recommended the chicken khorma, so I had to try it. They were so nice and helpful, too! My sibling ordered the butter chicken. In total we ordered the butter chicken, chicken khorma, samosas, naan bread, and side of fries. I am so glad I asked for a recommendation because the chicken khorma was definitely better (IMO) than the butter chicken. The butter chicken was too tomato-y for me. The samosas were big and delicious! The green sauce that came with them was the prefect sauce for them! My sibling is the one that found this place and I'm not mad. Order takeout. The food is good. But the service is terrible. The homeless guy begging for rice got better service than we did, and the place was empty except for us. While we were waiting (and waiting) a dozen dude bros came in together. Rather than seating them on the opposite, empty side of the restaurant, the staff seated them all around us. Got takeout based on the reviews mentioning how good the naan is - and yes, it's superb. Absolutely worth it. Even better, of course, is that the rest of the menu lives up to that standard. We got some incredibly hot and fresh, flavorful entrees alongside some of the best naan I've had in a long while. I mean exceptional here. Someone working here has a true gift with the tandoor. So, combine the incredible naan and the incredible mains and you've got yourself a great meal. Everyone working there was friendly and nice, too. This quickly became our favorite restaurant in Portland! The service is decent but the food is always fantastic. They nail the staples like Tikka Masala (try the mango variant), Butter chicken, & even tandoori or biryani. A special delight is their Indo-Chinese selections like the szechuan noodles. Second time having lunch here. The food is full of complex flavor. I was surprised with how full I got. I ordered the lunch thali combo ($15) with meat (cost an additional $1). The lunch combo came in a tray with an assortment of deliciousness. Naan bread also comes along with the lunch combo. The food is so good here!! I went with 5 friends, and we shared a few dishes: butter chicken, lamb biryani, tikka masala, dal makhani, garlic naan, and rice. We also got their mango lassi, which was great. The dal was amazing- definitely my favorite! The server was polite and he even gave us some free rice and raita. I wanted to try this place after reading several good reviews of it. The ambiance is very strip mall, both inside and out. We decided to go for inside dining. It was okay, but would be greatly improved if they added some background music and dimmed the lights a bit. It was very bright. We were one of only two tables dining in, but there were lots of people coming in for take out, which is what we will probably do in the future. They do have beer and wine, so we started with one beer and a white wine. They were good enough. For an appetizer, we had the mixed vegetable pakora. They are different than other places in that they are more bread-y and less crispy, but I didn't mind. They were flavorful and tasty. They are served with tamarind chutney and mint chutney. I was happy as I love chutney. They were also not heavy at all, we were able to finish off the generous portion. For dinner, we split the chicken tikka masala and the aloo gobi. They were served in really cool looking copper dishes and came with rice. Since I'm a spice wimp, we go everything milds. The chicken tikka was delicious and had just enough spice for me. The aloo gobi was good, but could have used a bit more kick. I would order that as medium next time. We also ordered the garlic naan and the raita. The naan was delicous, especially with a little raita spooned over it. The raita was wonderful, it didn't have the usual cucumber, which makes a lot of places' raita very watery. It was nicely spiced and the yogurt itself was very fresh tasting. I also got the mango chutney, which was good. My only qualm is that most Indian places serve such a small amount of chutney. It seems like the Indian places we find on the east side of town, where we live, end up being take out, but that's okay. We enjoyed Naan n Curry and we will order from them again. read more

We were curious to try this place out as it is closer to our workplace. We were sad to see the previous business close down. We ordered a variety of items to share, which included Seekh Kabob Combo, Paneer Pakora, Garlic Naan, Chicken Vindaloo, and Chicken Khorma. While the samosas were unlike anything I have had before and I didn't really like them, everything else was outstanding. Their garlic naan is buttery, garlicky without too much, with a lovely crisp char on the bread. I had lamb madras and it was sooooooo delicious. I finished every last bit, which I do not usually do. This place doesn't have ambience, and desperately needs a new paint job on all of the walls. If I lived near here (I was visiting from out of town), takeout would be my preference. read more

the best Indian I've had in Portland, it scratched the itch I've been missing since moving that no other Indian restaurant in Portland has. The butter chicken is unctuous and satiating, the lamb biryani is fantastic and layered with delicious complexity, owing to several different ways of preparing and seasoning the rice before mixing it together in one delicious dish. The paratha aloo was earthy and fragrant and buttery, the onion bhaji are satisfying and crunchy, and the naan is bubbly, crispy and fresh. the waiter/cashier was attentive and helpful, and I never had to ask for anything. the literal only thing I would change is the music playing, im not a fan of top 40 covers but that's such a small nitpick I feel silly even mentioning it. If you're looking for authentic Indian food, this is the right place to go. Seems to be well-liked by people from actual India, which is always like a vote of confidence. I like vindaloo, and these guys serve it up way spicy (chicken or veggie), the way it's supposed to be -- you'll sweat. Liked it a lot. The other dishes are all much milder as far as hot & spicy, but still entirely authentic. Try the butter chicken. Good lentil dal, too. A lot of delicious choices. Recommend. I wasn't expecting much from this place, but it was pretty mediocre, despite prices being comparable to other, fancier, better-quality Indian restaurants. Service was slow, despite it being a rainy Sunday afternoon. My $3.50 masala chai was tiny, and didn't come with a refill. The spinach cheese naan was good, but tasted more like it had mozzarella in it than paneer. The navratan korma was flavorful, but there definitely weren't all nine veggies in it. They were mushy - like a bag of frozen mixed vegetables. And the portion was pretty small for the amount I paid. $25 usually gets me much more, better-quality Indian food at other places. read more

So happy to have an excellent Indian restaurant in St. Johns! I've visited three times now, mostly for lunch. If you're new to Indian cuisine, the either of the lunch talis are a good starting point. A side order of any of the appetizers will give you a filling meal that will feed you again later or the next day. The food here has always been authentic and fresh.
